Layla Heartfilia was born from a family of high prestige and of power. She knew she was luckier than most, not having to scurrage food to keep herself from going hungry, not having to worry about her expenses in exchange for doing what was expected of her. That was the problem, though, as she struggled to find her place in a pressured and insincere environment.
Her only relief from her caged life of 18 years was her love of books. From fantasy to science until documentaries, she lives her life dreaming of the things she has read. From a young age, she dreamt of true love and first kisses and a simple life. Kind of a weird dream from a girl like her, if one was to ask anyone who knows of her. Knows of — as no one really knows who she was.
A life altering moment happened to her during one of her escapades from the mansion. Every month, for a couple of hours, her servants would help her escape from her parents. She treasures those days as it was the only time she can relieve herself from them. She returns the favor by going back before midnight in order for the servants not to get into trouble. However, during one of her relief days, as she likes to call them, she ran into some tiny mishaps.
Now, Layla wouldn't call herself weak. Yes, she wasn't the type to one shot enemies nor was she the time to face opponents and come out unscathed. She had her spirits in her arsenal to help her out — Aquarius, Cancer, and Capricorn — and they were proving to be quite the powerhouse. But she was unfortunately faced with an opponent that was a terrible match up to her holder type magic.
"Give it up girly if you know what's good for ya," was what the ugly man infront of her said. Layla couldn't help but grimace at the man. He, honest to god, was one of the hideous man she has ever confronted. Not only in the looks department (and he was ugly) but also in the attitude.
She was a little behind schedule in going back so she decided to take the short way home and sped through the narrow walkway. What she didn't notice was that the man that was currently in front of her was also there. She ran into him and he was, unfortunately, a douchebag. So, here she was currently.
"I'm sorry if I hurt you, Sir, but I really need to go," Layla tried to reason out. She would be dead if her parents found out she wasn't in her room. "Why don't we have a little fun before ya leave, baby," was the man's response.
"Please, kind sir. I will compensate for any offences I have done. But for now, I really need to go home." But the man was not heeding to her requests. "Don't make me mad, darling." And a magic circle was activated at their feet.
'If only I could summon Capricorn — or better yet, Aquarius — to beat the shit out of him.' As luck would have had it, her opponent had a cancellation type of magic, and Layla wasn't able to feel her connection with her spirits, and thus unable to successfully call either one. The man was getting nearer, and Layla was cursing the fact that she didn't learn about the need for combat fighting that Aquarius was nagging to her about. 'Next time, I'm forcing Aquarius to teach me.' And she could only close her eyes and wait for the inevitable to happen.
"Now, now, that isn't the way to treat a lady now is it," a voice, probably her only saving grace right now, echoed from behind the ugly man. As Layla maneuvered herself to observe the recently arrived man, she couldn't help but notice the tattoo mark on his exposed arm.
'That's a fairy tail guild mark.'
Truth to be told, she had heard a lot about that guild from her readings and outings. They were, as the newspapers and civilians dubbed them, the most infamous guild in the region. They weren't evil, per say, just destructive. The Fairy Tail guild was full of some of the strongest men, and though they put their magic to good use, for good use, they were still doing damage to private property. 'Surprising to know that they still got jobs lining up for them.'
Focusing back to her 'saviour', the fairy guy, her mind dubbed, wasn't attractive. Don't get her wrong, he wasn't as ugly as the man in front of her, but he wasn't in her top ten of handsome men. He was a bit easy on the eyes, with average build and a beard, which, in her opinion, needs trimming.
He must have noticed her gaze as he turned to her and winked at her. 'A playboy then.' Unfortunate, but he was all she got at the moment. As one would say, beggars can't be choosers, and in her case, she shouldn't be picky.
"HUHHH GOT A PROBLEM WITH ME DUMBASS?!?!," Ugly Man got agitated suddenly with the interruption. Layla could only sigh in relief as Ugly Man's attention shifted to the other man. She was really uncomfortable with Ugly Man's gaze.
As Ugly Man was distracted, Layla slowly escaped his clutches. Luckily, Ugly Man didn't notice her efforts in escaping. The last thing she heard was Fairy Guy taunting Ugly Man as Ugly Man charged at Fairy Guy with his fists.
She could only salute and give a prayer to the Fairy Guy as she schatottled out of there.
'And I'm still on time for the midnight snack.'
A/N: Hello everyone!! We finally get to meet Layla and know how she met with stinky Fairy Guy (which I know you already guessed, and if not, well, you'll know soon).
Enjoy this little side story while I'm still cooking up the plot for the main story. Not gonna lie, I just started this and finished this today. Kinda not expecting the time it took for me to write as I tend to either get distracted or get uninterested as I write. Fortunately, I was able to write with a plot, somewhat. And, this is not beta tested, the same as my other chapters.
Anyways, see you for the next update!! Next chapter would be the continuation of the main story.
