TRIGGER WARNING! THERE IS REFERENCE IN THIS TO LOSS OF PREGNANCY. PLEASE BE AWARE.
A/n: Welcome chapter 3 of Lone Shadows. This chapter will reveal some info of how different this world is from Canon, I'm not sure if it qualifies as AU but it's certainly drastically different.
I've noticed some Issues with the fanfiction website, for example :My second chapter didn't appear for a couple of hours even though, the email link worked and did take you to the second chapter, also the mobile version of the chapter was only in bold, I fixed it by uploading a new file without any formatting and then editing it in the on site editor to add bold to the parts I wanted.
Most importantly the site doesn't allow you to block guest reviews. So I have had to delete a review of this guy advertising horrible things on my review page. I don't want my family and friends who are interested in my story to go to my review page and have to be reminded of the disgusting people on the internet.
So I'm looking for other places to write my story. Ao3 looks the most appealing as I can also upload images there, allowing me to post illustrations of scene's as well.
I will continue to post here, but I'm definitely going to be keeping my story silent from my loved one's until fanfiction lets you block guest reviews or I find a safer site.
I don't want to complain to you guys. I just wanted to let you know what my plans are.
Now on to the review responses
Guest: Weird change. More.
Needs a quick background story soon on how that came to be.
Deadpan: Indeed, there are many weird changes. This chapter should clear things up a tiny bit. Good to know that you want more thanks.
Ih8myselfsomuch: ok i did not expected that
Deadpan: Yeah it's a little out there, hopefully it makes a little more sense as things go along.
TigerzzTail: Interesting choice to make Yahiko as Naruto's father. That certainly twists up the rest of the world.
Deadpan: Not sure if 'interesting choice' is good in this case, but yeah a whole many things get twisted here.
Guest :Delusional trash.
Deadpan: You're not wrong, but hopefully I can reach a point in writing where you will change your review from 'Delusional trash' to just 'Delusional' . I can settle for it being just delusional.
I believe that's all of them, lest one comes while I'm posting this
Chapter 3: Strange Revelations.
"Does this mean you will be returning, Yahiko?" Hiruzen asked. "Kami knows Naruto needs you," he added, hoping to persuade the orange-haired ninja.
"Return? I should take Naruto from this village and leave behind a crater for what you've done to him." He growled through gritted teeth. "Though it seems his life is finally taking a turn for the better." He mused as he calmed himself
.
"Please do not hate Minato for what he did; he wanted Naruto to be treated like a hero. But the people were grieving and could not set aside their hatred," Hiruzen pleaded. " I had hoped that my decree would allow Naruto to live a normal life, but I was wrong," Hiruzen admitted.
"I don't hold it against Minato; I know he would have used his own child were it not for Kushina's miscarriage," paused at the memory of his deceased friends. "That day was just one tragedy after another it seems."
Hiruzen nodded grimly, the ache of his own losses still haunting him.
"I do, however, have more than enough hate for you," Yahiko explained. " How could you let him be so alone? You're the Hokage, aren't you? Surely there's more you could have done?"
Hiruzen could only hang his head in shame, the weight of his failures heavy on his shoulders.
"Have you come to punish me then?" Hiruzen asked, knowing he deserved it.
For a moment, Yahiko considered it before shaking his head, dismissing the notion. "No, that's not why I'm here. Besides, as much as I would relish it, it would only sadden Naruto. Instead, I'll leave your punishment to my wife," Yahiko chuckled darkly, a sardonic twist to his words. "You would be the first Hokage to succumb to death by paperwork."
Hiruzen couldn't suppress the smile that crept onto his face at the grim humor. It seemed the life of a rogue ninja had not entirely jaded Yahiko.
"The real reason I'm here is to see you actually," Yahiko explained, his tone shifting. "It's time Naruto knows the truth. The old cripple has been stirring lately; we need Naruto to be ready," he said, tossing a light blue scroll toward Hiruzen.
The aged Hokage caught the scroll, his curiosity evident in his gaze.
"A graduation gift, from his mother. Make sure he gets it when you tell him," Yahiko instructed, turning to leave.
"Why don't you tell him yourself?" Hiruzen asked. After all, the boy would surely rather hear it from his parents.
"There are some things we have to take care of first; if we were to return now, I don't think we will be able to pull ourselves away," Yahiko said. There was no way they would be able to leave Naruto behind a second time; the first was painful enough.
"We will be returning soon though, only a few more months. Maybe we will even make it for his birthday." Yahiko hoped.
" We would gladly welcome you back when that time arrives," Hiruzen said with a smile. "Your mission has run long enough."
"It's not over yet, but we can better protect him from within the village," Yahiko said before shunshining away.
Hiruzen sighed as he watched the father leave. Naruto has had a tumultuous couple of weeks, he thought, wondering how he would approach this situation.
Oh how he wished he could retire.
Naruto woke to the sound of some godawful yelling; two people were engaged in a spirited exchange right outside his window.
"GAI-SENSEI!" one voice roared, followed by another shouting, "LEE!" The fervor in their cries escalated, each proclamation louder than the last.
Pulling open his curtain, Naruto poked his head out the window, intending to tell them to 'shut the hell up!' But before he could utter a word, he witnessed two streaks of green sprinting off into the rising sun, kicking up dust in their wake.
'Fast,' he thought, impressed, before hearing a voice from below.
"Ah, Naruto, I was just about to wake you," Kakashi called up. He fought back a smile, knowing the cause of Naruto being up so early. "Get dressed; the Hokage wants to see us."
"Eh!? So early?" Naruto wondered if they were getting a super-special mission assignment. Retreating back into his apartment, he hurriedly donned his ninja gear and left through his front door. "Neh, Kakashi-sensei, do we have a mission?" he asked, brimming with excitement.
"No idea. I was informed by an ANBU member to come get you. I ran into an acquaintance on the way." Kakashi's response came with a mysterious smile. He had encountered Gai and his little clone during their morning training, a spectacle of exuberance that made Kakashi nearly crack a grin. Seeing Kakashi out so early prompted Gai to unleash a barrage of declarations, ending in a dramatic hug between the spandex wearing ninja, before they both sprinted off to continue their almost fetish-like obsession with training.
"If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say Hokage-sama wants to inform us of who the other team will be that we will be cooperating with on our missions for the foreseeable future," Kakashi mused, considering the various reasons the Hokage might want to see them.
Naruto's apartment wasn't a lengthy walk from the Hokage Tower; they arrived within less than twenty minutes, entering a bustling yet well-organized administrative office. Many ninjas were early risers, and some were already heading out on missions or other assignments. Naruto felt a tingling excitement in his spine at the prospect of his first mission.
Ascending to the Hokage's office, they were once again greeted by the friendly secretary before being allowed entrance into the village leader's chamber.
Hiruzen wasn't seated in his chair; instead, he stood by the window, observing the waking village while smoking his pipe. The atmosphere in the room felt slightly peculiar, making Kakashi wonder if something had changed regarding their teaching arrangement.
They stood in silence for a moment, waiting for the Hokage to acknowledge them. Naruto was starting to get impatient when Hiruzen turned around and said, "Good morning, Team 7. Please take a seat," gesturing toward the chairs in front of his desk—chairs that weren't usually there.
"What is this about?" Kakashi inquired as he took his seat, concern evident in his voice for those who knew him well.
"I have some news to share with you, some really important news, regarding you, Naruto," Hiruzen said, the usual jovial tone absent when addressing the blonde.
"Me? What about me, am I in trouble?" Naruto asked, a sudden lump forming in his throat, as he hadn't heard Sarutobi sound like this before.
"No, no, my boy, this is just a difficult topic, and to be honest, I'm not sure how you will react. You might even take it as good news," the Hokage attempted to alleviate Naruto's concerns, though his hesitation didn't really help the matter.
The boy sat down next to Kakashi, showing he was listening.
"What I'm about to tell you concerns your parents, Naruto," Hiruzen said, causing the blood in
Naruto's veins to suddenly turn to ice.
"My parents?" Naruto repeated, "But you said many times not to a-ask about them." A sudden lump appeared in Naruto's throat.
Kakashi was more confused than surprised, wondering why now. Was it because Naruto became a genin? Or was there something else?
"I know I did, my boy, and I'm sorry. I hated being so harsh, but I was asked to keep it a secret by the Fourth Hokage himself," Hiruzen explained, the pain evident in his expression. It had been difficult every time Naruto pleaded to know about his parents.
"You see, your parents had powerful enemies, and if the truth of your existence were revealed, then you would be in grave danger," Hiruzen stated grimly.
Kakashi's mind immediately turned to Iwagakure.
"You see, the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, was asked to be your guardian on the day of your birth. However, when the Kyuubi attacked, he had no other choice but to seal it within a newborn child," Hiruzen explained, causing Kakashi to raise an eyebrow.
"What do you mean guardian, Hokage-sama?" Kakashi asked as his own heart started to race a little.
"It is true that Minato's wife Kushina had given birth on the night of Naruto's birthday, but there had been… complications," Hiruzen paused. "I don't know the exact events, but Minato ended up having no other choice."
Kakashi could not really process what the Hokage was saying. Minato-sensei had to fight the Nine-Tails with that pain in his heart? Kakashi thought, now feeling a lump in his own throat.
"S-so what does this have to do with my parents? D-did they die fighting the Kyuubi?" Naruto asked, gripping his pants tightly in preparation.
"Officially? Yes," Hiruzen said as tears started streaming down Naruto's cheeks. "In truth, however, they are still alive," Hiruzen said.
The news hit Naruto like a crushing waterfall, tingling from his head down to his toes. Kakashi was listening intently because if Naruto wasn't Minato's son, then he had a hard time imagining whose son he would be. After all, he was practically a clone of Minato.
"Reporting them as having died during the Kyuubi attack was a convenient excuse, to aid in obscuring your identity," Hiruzen explained, reaching into his desk and pulling out what looked to be a small piece of paper.
He handed the piece of paper to Naruto, revealing it to be a photo.
A photo of a tall silver-haired man with red tear markings under his eyes, standing over three children about his own age. One was a shy-looking boy with straight red hair covering his face.
The other was a boy with bright orange hair and a big smile that seemed kind of familiar; his eyes were closed from how much he was smiling as he held the other two children around their shoulders in a friendly display. The last was a blue-haired girl with orange eyes, smiling gently.
Hiruzen placed two fingers above the orange-haired boy and the blue-haired girl.
"These are your parents, Naruto. Regrettably, I don't have a more recent picture of them. Your father's name is Yahiko, and your mother's name is Konan. They are orphans from the Second Shinobi World War, and I do not have a family name as far as I'm aware," Hiruzen said, trying to gauge the boy's reaction.
Naruto mouthed the names as Hiruzen said them, gently tracing his fingers over the picture, as if it were the most precious thing in the world.
Kakashi's world was spinning with the information before he addressed one of his main concerns. "Hokage-sama, if Naruto is indeed not Minato-sensei's son, why the uncanny resemblance?" Kakashi didn't want to argue with the Hokage, but the boy looked so much like Minato that you would be forgiven for thinking the man had shrunk.
"Ah yes, you should know better than anyone that Minato was meticulous. He felt that if Naruto looked like him, people would draw their own conclusions as to why that was, as I'm sure even you did," Hiruzen explained. "Therefore, along with the Eight Trigrams seal, Minato placed a seal on Naruto that would mimic the appearance of its user," Hiruzen stated as his eyes shifted over to Naruto.
What Naruto understood from that is that he basically had some kind of permanent henge or something on him.
"Can it be released?" Kakashi asked curiously.
"Minato did leave me instructions on how to do so, but he didn't allude as to what the result of doing so would be. It could be excruciatingly painful; it could leave Naruto horribly disfigured," Hiruzen didn't want to needlessly endanger Naruto.
Naruto, on the other hand, didn't care about the risks. "I want it gone! Please Jiji, how can I keep looking in the mirror knowing this is not my face? If I look anything like my parents, I would at least want to see that in the mirror; I don't have anything else of theirs," Naruto pleaded.
The Hokage sighed, exhaling the smoke from his pipe. "I was going to leave the decision up to you, but it seems you've already made up your mind." He said before pushing himself out of his chair and walking around the desk.
Placing one hand on Naruto's head, he held his other hand in the seal of confrontation, attempting to give a reassuring smile to the young boy. "Hansa no Fuin, Kai!" He urged, flaring the necessary chakra to release the sealing technique. Much less than one would expect.
At first, nothing happened. Then Naruto started feeling like someone was dragging their nails over his whole body. As the feeling spread, blonde powder fell from his hair, giving way to a much less vibrant blue tone.
His eyes felt like he had not blinked in three days, and he couldn't manage to keep them open. Alongside tears, a blue pearlescent liquid ran down his cheeks.
Like the skin of a snake, his golden-tanned skin peeled away, leaving behind a much paler tone. Whether that was a trait inherited from his mother or just a lack of sunlight, it was hard to tell.
Naruto grit his teeth as the feeling spread. Luckily, most of the changes seemed to be external, as his bone structure didn't seem to change. This lasted for a good 10 minutes.
Then Naruto started feeling a splitting headache. No, not a headache, pain. A splitting pain between his eyes, down his sternum, in his finger, over his legs. Soon he felt the pain spreading throughout his whole body, like he was tearing apart. His eyes shot open as he opened his mouth to scream, but he couldn't make a sound as he spasmed in silent agony.
Kakashi abruptly stood in worry before Naruto crumbled into a pile of little papers, as if someone had dumped his body weight in origami paper on the office floor.
"Naruto!" Kakashi screamed in horror.
Hiruzen's eyes only widened briefly before he relaxed. He had not expected it to be so developed but said, "Do not worry, Kakashi-kun; this is merely the manifestation of Naruto's kekkei genkai. He should reform by himself shortly," Hiruzen said as he searched the drawer of his desk again, pulling out the blue scroll that Yahiko had given him before reading the attached note.
"Naruto! Try to think of your body as a shell, and then try to contain yourself within the shell!" Hiruzen yelled as if speaking to someone from a balcony or over an intercom with a bad connection.
Naruto heard the Hokage loud and clear, briefly wondering where the sound came from as he heard it all around him. He tried to think of himself as a shell, attempting to keep it all inside to no avail. He had a better time when he started thinking of himself as a training dummy full of straw, slowly starting to reform into the shape of a human.
It took a full hour as both the Hokage and Kakashi watched in fascination as the boy came together, piece by tiny origami paper piece. When the last piece fell into place over Naruto's closed right eye, the color returned to his body, and he opened his now orange eyes.
He immediately shivered. "That felt really weird." He squinted his eyes and made a face like he just stepped in something disgusting.
"It seems you take strongly after your mother, Naruto. Though I can see some of your father in you." Hiruzen smiled, ruffling the boy's hair.
"How do I look?" Naruto asked excitedly, looking around for a mirror before glancing behind the Hokage, trying to catch his reflection in the window, but it was too bright outside to do so.
Shrugging to himself, Naruto crossed his fingers in his favorite hand sign, yelling, "Kage bunshin no jutsu!"
A brief puff of smoke later, he stood next to another blue-haired boy. Both the clone and Naruto spent some time examining each other.
"Now, Naruto-kun, your parents wanted me to give you this when you learned the truth," Hiruzen said as he slid the blue scroll across the table.
Naruto took the scroll with all the care one would handle a newborn baby before Hiruzen spoke again.
"I did not check the contents of that scroll, but I warn that whatever info is held within is to be a closely guarded secret, understood?" Hiruzen asked, to which Naruto firmly nodded.
"You have been quiet so far. Does this information change your decision?" Hiruzen asked, shifting his gaze to Kakashi.
Kakashi shook his head in the negative, "No Sir, this is all just a lot to take in." Kakashi's mind was whirling, trying to account for all the things that had changed. "Naruto has a Kekkei Genkai?" He picked the first thing that ran through his head.
"Yes, as far as I understand, paper release is a combination of water and earth release. Considering he had a full-body unraveling, it also suggests that it's quite potent." Hiruzen explained, "When his mother awoke hers, she only lost the outer layer of her body, needless to say, she caused Jiraiya quite the panic." Hiruzen chuckled, thinking of his eccentric student.
Kakashi seemed to consider the information before saying, "If indeed it's an advanced nature transformation, I could test Naruto's elemental affinity so we might glean if that's the case."
Kakashi said. He made a mental note to stop by a Ninja supply store.
Naruto had been waiting for his chance to ask. "What's a Kekkei Genkai?" He had never heard that phrase before and seemed at a loss.
Kakashi was the first to explain. "Kekkei Genkai are genetic mutations that confer special abilities to certain shinobi. Some grant you the ability to combine certain nature releases in special ways, for example, letting you combine earth and fire to create Lava release. Some Kekkei Genkai also change the wielder's body, allowing them to use it in unique ways. If I had to guess, your bloodline limit is a combination of both." Kakashi explained, making sure to do so slowly so Naruto could understand.
"So it's kind of like how my hair color is like my mother's but for weird jutsu's?" Naruto asked; his excitement was growing at the prospect of techniques only he could use.
"In a way, yes." Hiruzen answered. "I would caution who you share this information with, Naruto." Hiruzen said severely.
"Outside of the people your parents are contending with, there are people in other villages that are greedy for bloodline wielders and would even go as far as to try and kidnap you to bolster their own ranks." Hiruzen informed before taking another large drag from his pipe. Sometimes he hated the shinobi world.
"Who are the people Naruto's parents have been dealing with?" Kakashi asked. As if they have been away from the village this long then it must be a troublesome group.
Hiruzen sighed, letting the smoke from his lungs fill the space. "Due to their nature, I only know the identity of their leader, Danzo Shimura, my former teammate." The weight of these revelations started getting to him.
"Danzo? The root leader? I remember root disbanding, but I had no idea this was the cause." Kakashi said, rubbing his hair; none of this really made sense.
"On the day of Naruto's birth, his parents were fighting off unknown shinobi; they would have been killed if not for the interference of the Fourth Hokage who had come to congratulate them." Hiruzen said as Naruto was listening intently.
"It was clear that the target of the attack was Yahiko, but they had no clue as to who was behind it." Hiruzen explained. "They felt they couldn't keep endangering Naruto and placed him in the care of Minato until they knew they could ensure his safety."
"Ok, but how does any of this relate to Danzo?" Kakashi asked; he hadn't any fond memories of the man, but this didn't make sense considering Root was still active for years after.
"Many years later I confronted Danzo having learned of his involvement in the Uchiha massacre." Hiruzen sounded tired, his old age becoming more apparent the more he spoke. "It was then that ninjas matching the description of the ones that attacked Naruto's Parents came to his defense as he fled the village."
Hizuren was feeling the unbearable weight of his failures at this point before locking eyes with Naruto. "Naruto, your parents love you, more than life itself, and if they could be with you here, they would." Hizuren felt a little better at least being able to tell the boy that.
"They might even come back sooner than you think," Hiruzen thought but decided to keep that information for himself. He didn't want to get the boy's hopes up in case something fell in the way.
Naruto sat silently for a moment, rubbing the tears from his eyes. Whether he was crying from the weight of the news, the pain of his transformation, or the smoke from the Hokage's pipe, it wasn't clear.
"Guess I'll just have to get so strong that nobody will want to mess with me!" Naruto declared with a brave face, "Then I'll take that hat and order them to come back." Naruto proclaimed, his usual bravado coming forward.
Hiruzen and Kakashi shared a chuckle as Hiruzen said. "That will certainly make things easier!" Hiruzen said now smiling; it was funny how Naruto could lighten the mood, the boy had the ability to put almost anyone's heart at ease.
There was a knock at the Hokage's door, all the occupants straightened up as the Hokage clicked a button under his desk making the door click open as well.
The same Bandana-wearing Hyuuga poked his head into the room.
"Sorry to Intrude Hokage-sama, we had an appointment for seven. Regarding the details surrounding the remedial program. I'm afraid it can't wait sir, as I need to meet the students in two hours." The Hyuuga looked apologetically at the other inhabitants in the room, judging by the atmosphere, the conversation had been a heavy one.
"Yosuke-kun, welcome!" The aged Sarutobi greeted, "Yes, you're right, I'm sorry the time has completely run away from me." he admitted.
"Not to worry Sir, I'd hate to interrupt something important but I'm afraid it's urgent." Yosuke said.
"Very well, we'll continue this conversation at another time, you are welcome to come to me with questions, Naruto, I will answer them as best I can." Hiruzen said before glancing at the silver-haired Jonin. "That counts for you as well, Kakashi-kun."
Kakashi nodded dumbly as he started ushering Naruto out of the Hokage tower, as they started leaving the office they heard Yosuke say. "I need you to approve the terms of these waivers sir."
"Waivers? You're not planning on endangering the future shinobi of Konoha, are you?" Hiruzen asked, clearly worried.
"No more than deemed necessary sir!" Yosuke almost sang in response.
It didn't sound very convincing.
And so, the two members of team seven found themselves standing outside the Hokage tower, people passing them by, giving the pair strange looks as they both had a mile-long stare, simply standing there.
After about five minutes, Kakashi was the first to speak, "So? Training?"
Naruto simply nodded.
As they started walking towards the training grounds, they passed a store with the name, "Twilight Emporium" proudly displayed above the door. Kakashi turned and walked inside, prompting Naruto to follow.
The interior could only be described as shinobi heaven. Behind the counter, there was a portly man with graying black hair wearing a blacksmith's apron; he seemed to be in the process of counting a box of shuriken.
"Sixty-four, sixty-five, Sixty-Ah, Kakashi-san, welcome! How may I help you this fine morning," The man put down everything and gave Kakashi his full attention.
"Good morning Kaito-san!" Kakashi bid in greeting, "I have a simple request today, I'm just here to gather some chakra paper." Kakashi explained.
"Aye, I have a few of those lying around, but what for? I'd have figured a shinobi of your caliber would know his elemental affinity by now?" he asked questioningly.
Kakashi stepped aside to let Naruto into view, "Why for my cute little apprentice, of course."
Kakashi chimed, pointing his arm towards Naruto as if unveiling a new product.
Naruto glowered at being called cute but shrugged it off when the man leaned over the counter to get a better look at him, "Oh, and what is this little guy's name? It is a boy, right?" he asked, looking at Kakashi.
"Oi! Don't talk about me like I'm not here!" Naruto exclaimed, pointing his thumb to his chest.
"I'm Naruto U- uhm I'm Naruto! the future Hokage, and don't you forget it!" He proclaimed, looking at the man with the very essence of defiance. He wasn't sure if he should still be using the name Uzumaki, as Hiruzen had said that his parents had no family names.
The man raised his brow at the boy's proclamation. "Naruto huh? You're that kid that's been terrorizing the neighborhood heh?" The man leveled a glare at him, causing Naruto to gulp.
"Well, you better not go doing that around this shop, or else you'll be lucky if I sell you a rusted Kunai." Kaito said, adding, "Do I make myself clear?"
Naruto nodded rapidly.
"Good, then you're welcome to take a look around. Give a holler if you see anything you like. If not, my commissions are open." he said, gesturing to the vast array of weapons and clothing before heading into the store room.
Naruto went over to what can only be described as the ninja version of a kiddies section, likely for academy students and newly graduated genin. After a few minutes, he did find something that tingled his fancy.
A dark gray haori, similar to what his parents wore in the photo he had. He removed his jumpsuit jacket and tried it on. It felt good and allowed him a little range of motion that his jacket didn't.
"If you're gonna grab that I recommend getting some mesh body armor and some gauntlets as well." Kaito said coming out of the storage room with a small box in his hands. Using a box cutter, he opened the box before asking Kakashi, "Just the one?"
Kakashi seemed thoughtful for a moment before he eyed another item, checking to see what Naruto was doing; he saw the boy looking around at the various types of gauntlets.
Quickly swiping the item, he had Kaito ring him up.
Naruto joined them a little later, placing his items on the counter.
"One Haori, one set of bracers, one mesh undershirt, that'll be 2870 ryo please." Naruto was surprised at the price, he expected it to be more expensive, fishing the bills from his fat little wallet, he paid the older man, noting the scars on the man's arms as he took the money.
"Pleasure doing business with you!" Kaito declared. "Be sure to think of us next time you need a blade or repairs." The man bid them a good day, waving as they left the store.
That was probably the most pleasant experience Naruto has ever had with a shopkeeper outside of Teuchi.
As they arrived at the training grounds Kakashi gave Naruto a moment to change into his new gear before saying. "So Naruto, there are so many things changing for you right now, I'm sure you must be overwhelmed but there's one last thing I want to give you."
"You see, a friend of mine has a star pupil. Having observed their relationship. I've started feeling the need to pass the torch, myself so to speak." Kakashi began a little embarrassed, he would never admit being envious of Gai.
Reaching into his kunai pouch he pulled out a beige colored book and a face mask. "This book is written by my favorite author, and the face mask is my own little touch."
Naruto smiled broadly at his sensei, he was honored that his sensei valued him enough to grant him this honor. Quickly slipping on the mask he asked, "How do I look?"
Kakashi's answer was a thumbs up.
"I think you will like that book, after all the main character shares your name." Kakashi smiled.
Naruto opened on the first page and read a little bit, Kakashi was right, they did have the same name, the story already caught his attention as it started right in the middle of an action scene. He looked up to see his sensei still talking to him.
"I'm sorry Kakashi-sensei, did you say something?" Naruto asked, a little embarrassed that he got distracted.
Kakashi didn't respond but instead gave a broad smile under his mask.
Gai and Lee right in the middle of a spirited spar, lLee they were both amped up already and were about to take it to the next level. When suddenly they both stopped.
They looked to the north in unison, seemingly seeing far beyond the trees.
"Gai-sensei what is this feeling?" Lee asked, unsure of the sensation he was feeling.
A disturbance in the springtime of youth Gai thought.
He didn't answer, for they could both feel the answer in their bones…
The birth of a new rival…
A/n Chapter 3 done. The ending is a little dumb, But I don't really care. I hope it shows a little of what to expect. Does this count as AU? I'm not sure.
Anyway I gotta prep for dnd, have a good day :)
