I've been waiting for a reason to write a mostly fluff fic about the Owl House cast spending a holiday together... And so here we are!

Enjoy the first chapter.

Luz forgot how hard it was to be patient and wait for the bell to ring the school day before Thanksgiving break.

She had been fiddling with her pencil at her desk for pretty much the whole day, only half-listening to the teacher's lectures as the hours went by.

"...And that's why the formula isn't supposed to be used in that kind of scenario." The teacher finished an explanation, tapping the board with his marker as he did.

Luz blinked, realizing she hadn't even half-listened to the lecture this time.

"...Crap, I hope that isn't on the test after the break." Luz mumbled to herself.

"Okay, can anyone tell me the basic idea of that formula...?" The teacher asked, before pointing at Luz. "Noceda, perhaps you can?"

"Uhhh..." Luz trailed off, trying to think of what to say to stall so she didn't have to reveal she wasn't listening.

The bell suddenly rang, and you could swear it was for a fire drill with how fast all the students got up, and began making their way to the door. Luz sighed heavily with relief, picking her bag up to leave as well. She had quite literally been saved from social embarrassment by the bell.

The teacher waved goodbye as the students filed through the door to leave. "And I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving break! You've all been working very hard, and deserve it!" He told them all.

Luz chuckled to herself. God, he didn't know the half of it.

Luz loved walking home from school on Autumn afternoons. The sweet smell of maple leaves always managed to put a small smile on her face as she walked down the sidewalk.

She enjoyed the sights until she eventually made it to her house, where her adopted basilisk sister was out and about in her human form, raking leaves in the front yard.

Vee clearly had been outside doing it for a while now, her now bagging up the piles she had previously made.

"So, excited for your first Thanksgiving Vee?" Luz asked, as she finished off another pile.

"I sure am! From what mom's told me, it's gonna be great!" Vee grinned, finishing off another leaf bag.

Luz chuckled, and walked past her to go inside the house. She entered through the door, and put her backpack down next to the stairs. From the kitchen, Camila's voice was heard calling out.

"Mija, is that you?" Camila asked from across the house.

"Yeah mamá! It's me!" Luz replied back.

"I'm in the kitchen, cleaning the platos!" Camila said, to which Luz perked up.

"You want some help?" She asked, walking into the kitchen so she didn't have to shout across the house anymore.

"I'd appreciate that, niña." Camila smiled at her daughter's offer.

Luz began to help rinse the dishes, while her mother did the washing.

"So, how was your day at school?" Camila questioned, making small talk.

"Fine, nothing too special happened. How about yours?" Luz answered with her own question.

"Well, I've been cleaning up the house for the holiday. Haven't finished the upstairs yet." Camila replied, as she finished washing the last dish.

"Down here looks pretty clean now, at least!" Luz complimented, rinsing the last of the dishes and putting them on the rack.

"That's true... And Vee volunteered to rake the yard for me." Camila said, "Which I'm thankful for."

"Hey, it's the season for it!" Luz joked, which made the both of them chuckle.

Just then, Vee walked inside, dusting her hands off after finishing raking.

"The yard's done! And the leaves are all bagged!" Vee smiled, announcing she did her job.

"Thank you, hija." Camila replied, appreciating the help from her adopted daughter.

"We still need to go to the store to get the food, by the way..." Vee reminded, gesturing at a long list on a whiteboard that was clipped to the fridge.

As the three glanced over at the list, their eyes wandered over to look at the empty long table in the dining room. Camila and Luz both sighed. They knew very well that table was most likely going to go unused for yet another Thanksgiving.

"Still, it's a shame we don't have more people over for the holiday... Like usual." Camila sighed.

"If only we knew more people who didn't already have plans for Thanksgiving." Vee added.

It was silent for a few moments, until Luz slowly perked up.

"...Hey, wait a minute! We do!" She realized, grinning.

"So you want us to come to the Human Realm, to celebrate a holiday called Thanksgiving?" Lilith questioned, sitting on the Owl House's couch.

Luz and Vee had called all of her friends and honorary family members in the Isles to meet up at the Owl House, so she could invite them all to spend the holiday in the Human Realm.

"Yes! We do!" Vee smiled, "I figure after everything we've been through this year so far, we could spend Thanksgiving together."

"Eh, I don't know..." Eda murmured, unsure. "There's still a lot of stuff I gotta fix around the house, and plus there's-"
"You get to drink all you want on Thanksgiving." Luz claimed.

"Hell yeah! Let's do it!" Eda immediately changed her tune, grinning.

"This Thanksgiving thing sounds kinda cool!" King said.

"We heard a little about it while we were in the Human Realm before!" Hunter commented.

"There's a turkey, you get to eat a lot of food, and be thankful for stuff!" Gus added.

The group all chattered and talked amongst each other, clearly excited about the holiday.

"I just have one question!" The Collector exclaimed, still excited.

"And what's that?" Luz asked.

"What's a turkey?" The Collector asked, plainly and curious.

Bit of trivia for you, I wanted Camila to call Vee a different loving term besides "Mija". So I decided to just go with "Hija", which means pretty much the same thing in Spanish.

I'm going to try and get the other chapters of this done and published before and/or after Thanksgiving.
