This is a fanfic based on the Pokemon Ranger Trilogy.
It has an entire family of OCs, with father Milo, mother Beatrice, and the three daughters of Beth (Pokemon Ranger 1), Jennifer 'Hush' (Shadows of Almia), and Grace (Guardian Signs) Woods. With this out of the way, let's begin:
Part 1: Beth, the Ranger of Kindness
It felt so weird what had happened to my family. Just what, you may ask? Well, we were simply enjoying some time at home as Jenny 'Hush' Woods, the quietest and youngest in the house, was playing her version of Pokemon Ranger on the DS (we had multiple for each of us kids) before, out of nowhere, a whirlwind came from her DS that sucked each of us into it! And when that happened, not only were all of us in the family suddenly trapped in test tubes, but we were in front of scientists from none other than Giovanni and Mr. Fuji! And it was at this time that, before anyone said a word, a freak accident occurred between us and a group of, get this, MYTHICAL POKEMON! At that very moment, every single member of our family had been completely fused with each of the different mythical Pokemon, one for each of us!
Dad was fused with a Latios and mom a Latias, making both of them shockingly similar in appearance and having the matching colors of both. Hush was fused with a Celebi, which not only allowed her to rewind and fast-forward time for herself for up to a minute at a time, but she also was able to speak with her mind and see things with her eyes closed, her preferred method since. Grace was mixed with the form of a Shaymin, which gave her very grassy and flowery fur on her body as well as the ability to fly, so long as it was daytime and she had a gracidea flower on hand, which she swiped from the place after it basically went up in flames.
And as for me, Beth, I had been mixed with the most oddball of the bunch, that being a Magearna. Though it was odd to be partially robotic now, it also allowed me to feel emotions in everything, be able to morph parts of my body into other things, and the best of them, it allowed me to be able to connect to the thoughts of other Pokemon in order to hear them and understand them as if they spoke my language. The only downside? I became much less capable of speech, with me needing to use a special device (again, stolen) from the lab in order to speak with my thoughts as opposed to with my mouth. It was basically an upgraded version of Stephen Hawking's chair but attached to my head.
But after that instance, literally no one was left in the lab that was alive aside from the Pokemon and my family, which we ended up rescuing every single one, including yet another Mewtwo, who was initially wanting to take revenge on humanity, but then I spoke to her in her mind (yes, it was a female one). And I told her that we were humans as well, but that we were also victims of Giovanni. And that we still didn't hold it against him. And when she asked why I wouldn't when he did so much to hurt others, including making about three other Mewtwo in the past, I responded with...
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," I said, Mewtwo about to backtalk, but then realized that she had also done bad things to others, such as blowing up a few scientists' heads before the blast got too bad. "Everyone does bad things, not just humans, but Pokemon as well. It's less about finding the bad things in others and trying to find the good they can offer. As for me and my group? I think I'm going to try and become a Pokemon Ranger," I said, which Mewtwo was confused about before my siblings then spoke after.
"Pokemon Ranger?... My dream come true... I'll get to training as soon as possible," Hush smiled with both her thoughts and her mouth.
"And I'll get to the ranger school as well! As for you, why don't you go to the school with me, Beth? We can have tons of fun learning together," Grace smirked at me.
"Okay, let's head off," I smiled as the family then proceeded to get some jobs (after reporting to one of the infinite supplies of Officers Jenny) and, with help from her and her squad, we managed to get some funds and move off to the Almia region in order to train and get a home.
Now, I would explain how my school life was, but we all know that nothing really exciting happened without the students in Isaac, Keith, and Rhythmi. And none of them were in our grade, so, instead, we headed off to our different locales, with me getting hired to go to the Fiore Region while Grace was hired to be a Pokemon Ranger for the Hoenn Region. And as for me, I did note that Mister Kincaid was there, and he was very strict and was even trying to find smart kids even the previous year. But regardless, I then got the memo that I was set to go to the Fiore region and that I'd be hired as a ranger of Ringtown. And of course, anytime anyone saw me, especially on the ship to go to Fall City's harbor, I found that I was stared at just because of how I looked.
Each of us in the family looked QUITE different and unique. Mom and dad looked like Latios and Latias's colors as well as the ability to fly in the air super-fast by retracting their arms and flying at the speeds of sound. But they decided that adventure wasn't their cup of tea and decided on moving to Almia to be close to Hush, teaching her as much as she could before she went to Ranger School the next year's semester, as it only allowed kids starting at age 13, which Hush would be about a week before the next school year.
Hush looked like she were covered in green, grassy skin with the hair looking exactly like Celebi's head, having tiny fairy wings (she was too heavy to fly with them, though), and her body becoming slightly smaller, about half a foot than she used to be. So, despite looking like a 9-year-old, she was actually 12 years and 9 months old. Grace looked much like her Shaymin counterpart, including the twitchy nose and her skin being white while her backside was grassy and could bloom into flowers if she was happy or embarrassed.
And as for me? I'll let a little girl of about 7 years old explain for me. "Um, miss? Why do you have metal on you? And those big, long ears?... And a cannon on your left arm?" she asked, me smiling at her as I then gave her the explanation.
"It's very weird... me get into bad scrape... I got in scence speriment..." I said as best I could, but with the Magearna that was mixed with me, I found it very hard to speak longer and bigger words.
"And why do you talk so weird?" she asked.
"Sorry, you don't have to answer that, if you don't want," her mother said as she held onto her daughter's arm gently, me smiling at that.
"Me mixed with Magearna... Poke Mon no good at talking... us in one body... very issue," I said with a sigh, me then resorting to speaking to them with the machine that I'd stolen from the lab, them then hearing what I thought. "It's easier for me to speak to people in their heads with this mental translator on my head, but I want to try and retrain both of us to speak English, rather than think it," I spoke with telepathy, them then nodding at me.
"Well, keep at it, and you'll get better, I'm sure," the kid smiled, me nodding at her.
"Thanks," I smirked at her as the ship then arrived at the port and I then disembarked and proceeded to the north, finding that the citizens of the town also looked at me in confusion, me then finding that the crate by the lighthouse was moving all about, me then looking underneath it and seeing that, underneath it, was not a Plusle, but an Emolga! And it then looked at me in surprise before then running off ahead.
"Wow, an Emolga! Those are very rare to see in Fiore, you know?" the teenager nearby smiled, me smiling and nodding at that.
"Cool," I smirked as I then went forward, getting the memo that the Ringtown leader would meet me in the town center, him then arriving and looking at me with a smile.
"Hi there, you must be the new ranger that I was told of, right?" he asked, me smiling at that.
"What give it away? Long ears? Metal skin?" I asked, him then smiling at me.
"I don't discriminate on appearance, I just was told you looked unique, and that certainly rings true... and you look quite well in that new uniform," he smiled, pointing out that the uniform I wore was on my body and that it was overtop all of my metal skin, but they accidentally sent me the wrong size pants, so I was in shorts instead of longer pants.
"I wish the pants were slightly longer, but that's just me," I admitted with my mind.
"It's okay, anyways, let's get ready to-" he was about to say before we heard the sound behind us.
"HOUNDOOM!" shouted an angry fire dog, us then going in that direction and seeing that said Houndoom was shooting fire and trying to hit the Emolga, who looked at me and hid behind me, which Spencer looked at in surprise.
"No doubt that this Emolga got on this Houndoom's nerves! Here, let's test it out now," Spencer said as he handed me my very own Styler, me then looking at the Emolga and then capturing it while, at the same time, looking in the Houndoom's mind and speaking to him telepathically.
"Houndoom, what makes you so angry?" I asked, him then looking at me in surprise before then growling.
"That little punk held onto my horns and tried to ride me! I demand that you let me burn him!" he growled angrily.
"If you did that, it'd be a much worse situation for the Emolga. Your fire makes pain eternally, so Emolga would be paying for it for the rest of his life, for something that he did as a prank," I said, which Spencer looked at me in confusion as I wasn't telling anything to him.
"Are you... are you talking to the Houndoom?" he asked, me nodding.
"Hmph," the Houndoom pouted before then snorting some embers from his nose. "Make sure that little punk stays far away from me. If I see him again, he's going to be burnt," Houndoom said before then bounding off, Spencer looking at me in surprise.
"Huh... I've never met anyone who was actually able to understand and speak to Pokemon with their mind," Spencer admitted as Emolga then looked at me and, much like Iris's Emolga, tried to play the cutesy defense.
"Aw, you saved little ol' me, thanks so much," she said, me frowning at her.
"Emolga, I know you're a prankster by nature, but maybe choose your victims more wisely in the future, okay? Maybe stick to smaller Pokemon as opposed to ones that look as big and nasty as a Houndoom, got it?" I said with my translator, Emolga frowning.
"Oh... okay, I promise... still, thanks for that. I didn't know that the burn would hurt forever," he admitted.
"It's quite alright," I said with my voice, Spencer then smiling at how the Emolga then cuddled next to my leg.
"It seems the Emolga has taken a liking to you. But we can't allow it to-"
"Her," I said, him frowning.
"Right. In Fiore, we have a rule that we can't take Pokemon out of their natural habitat, so I'd like to request that you release the Emolga," he said, me then doing so and for the Emolga to run off, but then, I could sense that she only pretended to do so and was actually hiding behind a nearby trash can.
"Okay, that was an impressive demonstration of skill, not only capturing the Emolga, but also calming the Houndoom without needing to capture it. Let's get going to the base, but first, I need to know your name," Spencer smiled.
"My name, Beth. Beth Woods. Nice to meet you," I smiled, him nodding as he then called in his Fearow and I held onto Spencer, but then, before the Fearow flew off, the Emolga rushed out of hiding and clung onto my legs, which Spencer looked at in surprise.
"Emolga grabbed on? I thought you released her?" Spencer asked as Fearow flew us towards the west.
"I did, but Emolga hid behind a trash can. My guess, she wanted to come with, right, little lady?" I asked with my mind machine, Emolga smiling.
"Yeah, I did! I wanna travel with you. I want to be safe," she said, me then simply speaking to her.
"Get on shoulder, then," I smiled, her then doing so and holding on tight as the Fearow then flew us down to ground level and, when he did, we then saw that the Ringtown place was very pretty, and that a singular Ranger appeared from inside the base, it being the male one, Lunick, him being joined by a Dedenne, which made me smile.
"Oh my... this place looks so pretty!" Emolga smirked widely as she stayed on my shoulder.
"Why, hello. I heard we were getting a unique one, and that's sure true," Lunick smiled at me. "I'm Lunick, nice to meet you. And what's your name?" he asked, me smiling.
"Beth Woods... Nice to meet you," I said with a smile, us then going into the ranger base and, when we did, Spencer then smirked at me.
"Okay, welcome to our ranger base of Ringtown. Now, as is custom for everyone that arrives as a new ranger, I need to give you a beginning mission to teach you how we work around here," Spencer said before a blue-shirted man rushed in and spoke.
"Spencer! I need help! My precious Pokemon has gone missing! I need to find him, please!" he said, Spencer smiling.
"Well, Larry, this sounds like a job for our newest ranger. This will be your beginning mission, Beth. Find Larry's missing Pokemon," Spencer said, me then looking into Larry's mind and seeing that he was worried about his Tailow and that he was upset at me being chosen instead of him.
"You need me find a Tailow, right?" I asked, which Larry looked at me in shock after.
"How... how did you know?" he asked.
"I looked in mind. Saw you worried about Precious the Tailow... and upset about newbie taking job," I smiled, me then going to him and smiling. "Me not like other rangers. Beth can sense emotion and can speak Pokemon," I smirked, me then going out with Emolga, with Larry and Spencer following after me in surprise as I went to the Lyra woods and saw that there were five different Pokemon about and that the only Tailow was hiding in a tree. I then proceeded to look at Emolga and she smirked after.
"You want me to lure the Tailow out?" she asked.
"Yes, I do. Don't hurt it, just spook it," I smirked in thought, her nodding as she then climbed the tree and then, behind the Tailow, proceeded to shout out loud, which the Tailow then flew out of the tree and I proceeded to capture not only him, but also a Zigzagoon at the same time! I then led our group back to the outskirts of Ringtown and Larry smiled at seeing his Precious, who had a small flower on his head.
"Oh, my Precious Tailow! Thank you so much, miss Beth!" he smiled, me nodding at that.
"All in day's work," I smirked.
"Well, I must say that I am impressed, now let's-" Spencer was about to say before a kid arrived and shouted at us.
"Fire! The trees are on fire!" he shouted, us then going to the trees and proceeding to find that they were, indeed, on fire. Spencer and I then immediately captured a Mudkip each and proceeded to have them use their water powers on the trees to put them out, the leaves having been slightly burnt, but luckily, the trees would survive.
"Thanks, Mudkip," I smiled, the duo then retreating into the river and Spencer smiling.
"That was an impressive Target Clear, Beth. Way to keep a cool head in a stressful situation," Spencer smiled. And then the boy came over and looked concerned.
"I uh... It was my fault that the trees were on fire. I tried to pretend to be a ranger, but then I angered some fire type Pokemon... they attacked me, but accidentally got the trees... I'm very sorry," the kid said, me smiling and patting his head.
"Admitting your faults is a very hard thing to do. It shows that you're being taught well, little man. Keep learning and maybe you'll get to be a ranger like us one day," I smiled at him with my mind machine, him then smiling and nodding.
"Thanks, miss!" he smirked before then heading back to town and Spencer smiling at me.
"That was very sweet. Let's head back to the base and get down to business," he smirked, us then doing so and, when we did, I had officially become a true Pokemon Ranger. And I'd have quite a few missions in the coming future, that much I knew.
