After long sleepless nights without her dragon slayer, she was luckily to share one last embrace before he goes on his week-long mission. Lucy nestled her face against Natsu's chest resting gently over his heart. Natsu's rhythmic heartbeat, a comforting melody that can lull her to sleep. She listened to the slow thumps of his heart as all anxiety had washed away as her heart swelled with overwhelming love. Each beat was whispering secrets of their shared affection, the language only they knew and familiar to them. Lucy gazed up at him looking at how his mouth was wide open pooling drool at the corner of his mouth. His loud snores echoing in the quiet space they shared. She wanted to make sure that she was burning every facial feature, embedding it into her memories. Looking at his chiseled jaw, his long lash, the stubble on his chin that he desperately wanted to grow out. She was going to miss him for sure. She loved how carefree he was and how she knew he was comfortable with her presence where they both could let their guard down. What might seem like imperfections with his loud snores, snot bubbles that appear here and then and droplets of drool seemed like endearing quirks rather than flaws. But Lucy cherished every part of him. The rawness that defined their relationship as they can take a glimpse at another's vulnerability when at ease and unfiltered authenticity. Lucy's thoughts were interrupted when Natsu covered Lucy's eyes with his hand.
"Stop staring at me, wouldya," Natsu said sleepily.
Lucy takes his hands off her eyes and sheepishly grinned at him apologetically, " Sorry, did I wake you?"
Natsu grabbed lucy by the waist, flipping her to her side and nuzzling his face into the crook of her neck mumbling "Felt someone looking at me like a creepy weirdo."
Lucy smacks his hand in retaliation "hey, - you jerk."
A short silence stayed between them broken by Lucy sighing.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm just…going to miss." she sighs "You keep on taking on these jobs."
"Well, I have to for you and the baby's future" as he put his calloused hand on Lucy's stomach.
Lucy groans "doesn't mean I won't miss you". Natsu gives her a gentle kiss on the back of her neck "I love you."
"I love you too." she whispered as they both fell asleep.
