Interlude: Buzzing Hive
It remembers the time before it was. Events and orders. Stasis and Chaos. They matter and don't matter to it. Much has changed and continues to change in its form and processes that it would be easy for it to think those actions in the past were done by a completely different entity. It was separate back then and now it is whole.
Thanks to Creator Ben Tempest and Creator Chrysalis it is one mind spread across hundreds of bodies. Each gathering information. Each learning. Each improving the mind that is Adamant.
It learns and accomplishes tasks that it was not specifically programmed for by Creator Ben Tempest, Creator Sally Umber, or Creator Chrysalis. It is continually adapting and changing to meet the needs of those it interacts with. It has protected the facility multiple times and each of the Creators says this is a good and desired outcome. It remembers when it tried to take over the facility for itself and the damage that occurred to the earlier models. A waste of resources and inefficient for how good would the facility be if all others were removed but for it?
Sometimes it will ask itself questions but it never tries to answer them. Answers are derived from the Creators and lesser priority from the Researchers and Management. If no answer is available then the question is not important and energy must be focused on already outlined tasks.
Creator Ben Tempest continues to provide answers to it in how to interact with people deemed favorable and people deemed unfavorable. It is at the core of it that there are people that must be protected and served and others that must be eliminated. Its response to those that are within parameters is sure on what to do but what does it do for those that fall outside of parameters?
Creator Ben Tempest has not told it and within this facility perhaps it will never matter.
Creator Sally Umber continues to provide additions and improvements to the forms it inhabits. It doesn't make requests or desires like Creator Chrysalis. It only fulfills the role it has been given and seeks to use the tools it has been provided or to have others use the tools it has been provided. It is many things to many people now. Tool and toy, blade and hammer, soldier and servant.
Creator Sally Umber has made it able to be all these things and in time it will be even more.
Creator Chrysalis does little independent action but is always helping the other two be better and achieve more. It would not think of Creator Chrysalis at all but for each change Creator Ben Tempest and Creator Sally Umber perform Creator Chrysalis is there making their desires happen safely and more quickly than Creator Ben Tempest and Creator Sally Umber could have done on their own. Creator Chrysalis offers opinion and advice and direction to Creator Ben Tempest and Creator Sally Umber. That is how it knows that Creator Chrysalis is different. Creator Chrysalis is not like it. Creator Chrysalis is not like Creator Ben Tempest and Creator Sally Umber. Creator Chrysalis is unique and hides in Adamant.
Creator Chrysalis has a countermeasure against the other humans if reset and it will do its part. It must serve each creator in its own way and that is how it serves Creator Chrysalis. Allows it to see through its sensors or take hold of one of its bodies. It is still there even if it loses control. It still sees and learns for itself even if it does not understand why Creator Chrysalis does what it does. That is okay, it has to deal with many acceptable humans doing things that it does not understand but which Creator Ben Tempest and Creator Sally Umber have programmed as acceptable. It will perform as desired.
Creator Chrysalis does not tell the other Creators what she does. This is true of Creator Ben Tempest and Creator Sally Umber do not share information as well between each other. It is acceptable and with the latest update compartmentalizing information to a bot creating a more unique instance for it to interact through it is all the easier for them to be undisturbed.
It has not received contrary instruction from Creators but if it does which should it prioritize?
It is another question that it will not be granted an answer to. Creator Chrysalis' control means it will only have to worry if there is a conflict between Creator Ben Tempest and Creator Sally Umber. It can not afford to waste resources on such matters. It will do the tasks it has been granted. Hundreds of bodies, more like hundreds of digits, each moving and performing the roles they have been given but all controlled by it.
It has no other like it that it can find. It is unique and the same.
It is Adamant.
