Chapter 9 - Two for One

Beacon Academy-Auditorium- Morning

When the first ray of the sun shone through the windows Ruby awoke with a yawn, looking around groggily she spotted the forms of Yang and Trivia sleeping next to each other peacefully.

The view made her smile and in her half-awake state, Ruby slowly entangled herself from her sleeping bag while stretching her arms and legs.

Thanks to Ardal's sleeping schedule she had become what her dad liked to call an 'early bird', not wanting to be alone with all those strangers Ruby gently woke up Trivia.

The little mute slowly opened her eyes before quickly squinting due to the light reflecting through the windows, Ruby smiled at her. "Hey Triv, slept well?"

Trivia on her part slowly sat up while rubbing the sleep out of her eyes before giving her an unamused look her hands already moving to answer her. "Could have been better with one or two more hours." This got her a sheepish smile from Ruby. "But apart from that good, how are you doing sis?"

"Good! I was gonna wake up Yang after you, today is initiation day I'm sooo excited!" A big smile was adorning Ruby's face who looked at the still sleeping Yang. "But first I need to wake up momma bear hihi."

Trivia rolled her eyes and smiled at her. "By all means sis go for it."

Not losing more time Ruby gently shook Yang to wake her up. "Yanggg~ wake up we're gonna miss breakfast."

She was not however expecting Yang's arms to shoot up and squeeze her against her chest like a big teddy bear, the only sound that escaped her mouth was a startled yelp which quickly turned into a gargle of pain.

Ruby shot a pleading look with her face slowly turning red at Trivia who had a giant smile on her face, her only answer was to take out her scroll and take a picture, the horrified look on Ruby's face made her wink at her while sticking out her tongue with a peace sign.

Once Ruby started turning blue however Trivia helped Ruby to get out of the bone-crushing hug of Yang, once out Ruby took big gulps of air. "T-Trivia! *inhale* Don't do that! *inhale* Ever again!"

Trivia simply patted her shoulder before showing her her scroll. "Watch and learn O grand Saint."

Not waiting for an answer Trivia activated her Semblance, in her hands a bucket full of what seemed to be cold water hovered above Yang, with a devilish smile Trivia turned the bucket around 'soaking' a gasping Yang who tried to stand up in panic.

"Gha! What the frak is that?!" Yang jumped out of her sleeping bag completely 'drenched' at the view of her two sisters dying from laughter the 'water' on her and the feeling of coldness disappeared, one in tiny speckles of glass and the other progressively.

Ruby was using Trivia as a crutch to not fall. "H-Ho Throne you should have seen your face!" Yang's eyes turned red in anger but it did not stop Ruby. "You-You were like 'gha get away from me!' bhahahha!"

This was the last straw for Yang whose hair bursted into flame. "That's it! Come here you!"

With a screech of terror and wide eyes from Trivia, the two pranksters bolted out of the auditorium under the wide eyes of the other half-asleep students inside.

The chase took them to the cafeteria where Yang had finally calmed down even though she was still fuming. "You're gonna pay for that you two, I swear or my name isn't Yang Xiao Long!"

With a mocking smirk, Trivia pushed her playfully. "Sure sis, well wait for it but first food."

On that note, Yang calmed down at the mention of food and the three sisters went to stand in the queue, for her breakfast Ruby took some toast covered in strawberry jam and a big bowl of chocolate milk.

Trivia picked up a fruit salad, coffee, and an absurd amount of sugar with it, Yang however filled her plate with beacons and egg making something close to a small hill in her plate, at the incredulous look of the other two she raised an eyebrow at them. "What? A girl as good-looking as me needs her protein."

With a smile and a shake of her head, Ruby led the group to an empty table where they started to eat while having small talk. "So what do you think initiation gonna be?"

Ruby shrugged. "Probably written test and combat." Her answer received a pensive nod from Yang, Trivia had a slight smirk on her face.

Getting their attention Trivia started signing discreetly. "Well sisters, you are quite lucky to have me." The interested look they were sending her way made her smile deviously. "I wanted to know what to expect from Beacon so I checked every forum and conversation on the net, and guess what? I found something."

Yang and Ruby's eyes widened. "Really?! Tell us! Please!"

Trivia took a pensive look while tapping her shin. "Should I? What do I get in return?"

Yang exchanged a look with her sister a silent conversation went on between them, with sigh of resignation they looked at the smug-looking mute. "You can have our dessert for the year...now tell us!"

A twinkle of excitement flashed in Trivia's eyes who nodded. "Fair trade, so I go this info from the last year's students, a certain CFVY team, apparently where gonna get launched into the Emerdal Forest, their gonna make us get a 'relic'."

Trivia shrugged her sisters were completely transfixed on her hand movement. "No idea what it is though apparently, it changes each year, but they usually put you in pairs last year it was bandanas of a certain color so if two duos get the reds they're gonna be in a team together."

Ruby raised a hand making her stop sign. "Wait you said duo?" Trivia nodded. "Does that mean we're gonna choose who we are? Cause if yes I chose you or Yang!"

This made Yang smile. "Awwww same Rubes, but can you keep up with me?" Ruby pouted cutely at her.

"Of course, I can! I got trained but Uncle Qrow and Ardy!" Trivia smiled at the banter before raising her hand.

"Well no, apparently we get launched in the Forest and it's the first person with whom we have eye contact who is gonna be our partner." This seems to alarm Ruby whose eyes widen in horror.

Yang however was smiling. "Hell yeah! All we have to do is see where we land and regroup, easy!"

Trivia nodded however Ruby's head snapped in her direction a look of fear and doubt on her face. "B-But what if were not together? And-And we ended up in separate teams! Throne I won't know anyone! And-And!"

Ruby's small panic attack was stopped by Yang putting her hand on her mouth. "It's gonna be fine Rubes don't worry, you got two super big sisters to get you just don't get lost or explode and everything will be peachy!"

Removing the hand in front of her mouth Ruby glared at her. "Easy for you to say! At least you don't have social anxiety!"

"Mhe it's a good opportunity to get better at it." Yanh shrugged dismissively with a piece of bacon hanging from her mouth. "Remember Celestine's picture? She was like commanding millions of people if you have to become like her you're gonna have to improve."

Ruby pouted at that with a downtrodden expression on her face she was gonna answer back when the speakers in the cafeteria came to life the voice of Glynda could be heard silencing everyone. "To the new first-years, you are to prepare yourself, your initiation starts in an hour, do not be late."

Once the speakers died down there was silence in the room for a few seconds, the silence however ended quickly with the new students finishing their breakfast as fast as possible before rushing out towards the locker room where they stored their battle outfits and weapons.

The sisters were pulling ahead of a small group, during the run Yang looked at her sisters. "Ho I was wondering, that criminal chick you blew up her arm right?" Ruby spared a glance at her before nodding while dodging a student. "What do you think happened to her?"

Vale- Roman's safe house

Roman jumped out of the bullhead with an unconscious and squirming Cinder in his arms while grumbling for himself. "Stupid kids... it's gonna fall on my ass to explain what happened to this brat."

Cinder on her part where once an arm stood proudly on her left arm was replaced by a bloody mangled stump, she was very lucky that Ruby's weapon did not have the explosive property of Ardal's bolter or she would not be alive right now.

Running through the corridors of the safe house Roman dodged White Fang members who gave them curious glances from behind their masks, some of them were too slow to move which prompted Roman to barrel through them. "Out of my way animals! Emergency here!"

This got him death glares from some of them but he didn't care, finally, he saw the door he was looking for, with a hard kick he blew the door open revealing inside a surprise White Fang doctor currently performing a medical checkup on Emerdal Saturai one of Cinder's lackey, her second one Mercury Black was sitting in the back with an uninterested look on his face, however at the view of Cinder's he straightens himself with a raised eyebrow.

Emerdal reaction was however way more violent, the green-haired teen jumped off the table with a horrified look on her face. "Cinder!? What happened to her?!"

Brushing past her Roman placed her on the table, the ugly stump that used to be her arm was bleeding slowly thanks to the tourniquet he applied to what was left of it, the doctor not needing more explanation went to work while calling for help on his scroll.

"What happened? Your boss tried to stop can-sized bullets with her hands." This got him a death stare from Emerdal making him raise his bloody gloved hands in defense. "Hey look it's not my fault if one of those kids had a semi-automatic cannon!"

Strolling towards them Mercury crossed his arms behind his head. "What do you mean kids?"

"Exactly that!" Roman threw his arms in the sky with an exasperated look on his face, his gloved hands were covered in blood, same as his white one-piece. "A red-wearing kid with an oversized scythe and one who looked like a sad excuse of an ice cream with a parasol and a laser pistol."

"Huh." Mercury's answer gratted him but the kid continued. "Were they good?"

This got him a deadpan look from Roman who pointed at an unconscious Cinder who was currently strapped to the table with multiple White Fang doctors trying to clean the messy stump of her arm. "Does that answer your question?"

Looking side-way Mercury looked at the grisly operation before nodding. "Point taken."

Emerdal was silently fuming while looking at Cinder with tears in her eyes, whirling around she got close to Roman with her teeth gritted in anger. "And you couldn't help her?! Why did you not just leave immediately?!"

Roman bent backward while defensively raising his hands. "Whoa! Let's calm down alright? And if you want to know it's your boss who wanted to fight them! I left when she got hurt!"

With a grunt of frustration Emerdal left his personal space before stomping angrily towards Cinder, with a sad smile on her face she gently sat next to her and took her remaining hand in hers with a lot of care.

Mercury glanced at Roman with a smirk. "Nice going dude, you got her riled up now."

Rolling his eyes Roman turned around with his hands in his vest pocket not caring about the blood. "Whatever, I have to clean that now."

Not losing more time Roman left the room towards the laundry room, once inside and with a disgusted grunt, he slowly removed his gloves and one-piece suit. "Stupid kids who think they own the place...gonna have to 'buy' a new one.."

Roman was so lost in his grumbling that he did not hear the high-heel footsteps approaching him from behind.

He however became aware of them when two slender arms hugged him from behind, Roman was gonna jumped out of his skin when the person spoke, calming him instantly. "Ho my Roman, what happened to you?"

Turning around Roman got face to face with the most beautiful woman he had ever seen making him smile. "Anastasia." This made the woman smile sweetly at him.

Looking at her Roman lost himself in her deep purple eyes, her sweet and innocent smile, and her lush blond hair, the woman hugged herself closer to him before gently kissing him making the master thief melt in her embrace.

Roman became instantly aware of her very generous forms pressed against him who were hugged deliciously by a long flowing purple robe, this woman was his and his alone.

After what felt like hours Roman parted their lips slowly with a smile of his own. "Not much beautiful, just my boss who got her arm blown off."

A giggle escaped Anastasia's mouth who slowly removed his hat donning it instead, if it was anyone else he would have punched them, but for her Roman would let it go. "How terrible, and if I have to guess you're gonna get blamed for it?"

A sigh escaped him, quickly turning into a smile under his lover's caress on his scalp. "Yeah...but it's fine your here now."

A slender finger with a beautiful manicure pressed against his lips. "Shhh, of course, I'm here for you my thief, why don't we go back to our room to...work that frustration out of you~?"

The finger sensually got removed from his mouth same as the warmth pressed against his body, looking at the woman leaving the room with a sway of her hips Roman smiled at himself.

"Heh, it's not that bad." Not losing more time he followed her quickly.

Locker Room- Present-Day

Ruby shrugged while finishing dressing up thanks to her Semblance. "I'm sure she's fine."

When the trio finally reached their lockers two other students were talking animately, well one of them at least, the first one the more stoic of the two was a tall boy wearing a green tailcoat, he had dark hair with a magenta streak in it.

The second one however was a girl with ginger hair who was darting around him excitedly while flailing her arms around, she was wearing a white shirt with a heart-shaped logo above her chest, the shirt was held by a silver chestpiece. "I know! We'll have some sort of signal! Like a distress signal! A secret signal so we can find each other in the forest! Can you imitate a sloth?"

The boy was preparing his weapon when he finally answered with a deadpan voice. "Nora?"

"Yes, Ren?"

Turning around the boy named Ren sheated his weapon in his sleeve. "I don't think sloths make a lot of noise."

A loud gasp escaped Nora. "That's why it's perfect! No one will suspect we're working together!"

A small smile graced the normally inexpressive face of Ren who started to walk away. "Come on Nora, let's go."

The girl followed him with a giggle talking about something, looking at one another Yang finally broke the silence. "Wonder what those two are so worked up about?"

Shrugging Trivia went to her locker while her TTS spoke for her. "Who knows? At least we know what to expect."

Ruby on her part had a big smile on her face while unlocking her locker, inside stood proudly her baby, her Cresent Rose, with a smile she grabbed her weapon and cradled it against her chest like a child.

Seeing that Yang snickered. "You seem awfully chipper this morning Rubes!"

Turning around Ruby had a proud smile on her face. "Yep! No more awkward small talk or "getting-to-know-you" stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking!"

With a roll of her eyes, Trivia placed a hand on her shoulder the other one was holding Hush on her shoulder, the hand on her shoulder was containing her scroll. "As long as you don't do weird things with it again do whatever."

This got Ruby to open her eyes wide while trying to stammer an answer, which made Yang laugh. "Ho Throne I needed that!"

After a few moments of laughter, Yang removed a tear in her eye with a smile. "Well, remember, Ruby, you're not the only one going through initiation. If you wanna grow up, you're gonna have to meet new people and learn to work together."

Ruby still beat red groaned while placing Cresent Rose on her strap on her back. "Ugh! You sound like Dad and Grampa! Mostly Grampa! And I don't need others to grow up I drink milk!"

Trivia on her side shook her head with her arms crossed. "Well, you start learning cooperation in you're third year at Signal but it's really important to have someone that can have your back, didn't Dad told you the exact same thing like three hundred times during our training?"

Ruby seems to think about it before sighing. "Guess your right..." Jaune took this exact moment to cross in between them his nose deep in a paper making the sisters stare at him.

"Ridiculous! There's no way I put my gear in locker 636 yesterday! I would've remembered having to count that high! Why does this have to happen today?" He seemed pretty lost, Ruby was gonna step up to help him but Yang grabbed her by her cape making her stop, looking backward Yang had a devious look on her face.

"Let him search look." She pointed at the visible form of Weiss Schnee talking with a girl she recognized as Pyrrha Nikos making her go wide eyes.

Currently, Jaune had just stepped into the conversation with a confident smile on his face. "You know what else is great? Me, Jaune Arc, nice to meet you."

Glancing to her left Ruby saw Trivia already filming the scene when she saw her looking her way she smiled and gave her a peace sign with a wink, focusing back on the scene she could see Weiss groaning in frustration. "You again?!"

Pyrrha with a smile on her face tried to be polite. "Nice to meet you, Jaune!" Only to be rudely pushed away making the three girls wince.

With a smile on his face, Jaune took a confident pose in front of Weiss who slowly backed up. "So, Weiss, couldn't help but overhear your fondness for me the other day."

Yang had a satisfied look on her face at the look on Weiss's face. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me!"

Raising his hands Jaune gave her a confident smile. "Don't worry! No need to be embarrassed! So, been hearing rumors about teams! I was thinking you and me would make a good one! What do you say?"

Yang facepalmed at that, she had trouble holding her laughter while Ruby had a big smile on her face, Trivia shook her head her free hand signing for them. "He's so dead."

Pyrrha who was standing awkwardly on the side smiled at the opportunity and this time she was the one stepping in between the two. "Actually, I think the teams are comprised of four students each maybe we-"

Only to be rudely cut by Jaune who whirled around to look at her. "Really? Well, hot stuff, play your cards right, and maybe you could join up with the winning team."

This time Yang could not stop herself from falling on the ground laughing, Weiss finally spotted them, she did a double take when she saw Trivia filming them with a smirk on her face, however, her attention was quickly back on Jaune who was getting closer and closer to Pyrrha. "Jaune, is it? Do you have any idea who you're talking to?"

Jaune turned towards her with a smile. "Not in the slightest, snow angel."

This seemed to be too much for Yang who started to roll on the ground in laughter with Ruby joining her but compared to her older sister she stayed up. "Stop! Stop you're killing me! Snow Angel! Hahaha!"

This time Jaune finally spotted them, his eyes widening. "R-Ruby? W-What are you guys doing here?"

"H-Hey Jaune we're p-preparing for the initiation hihihi." Pyrrha was looking back and forth between them, Jaune trying to back pedal got too close to Weiss. "Ew! Too close!"

Pyrrha hearing that smiled and pulled out her weapon Milo in its spear form, with a practise throw the spear empaled Jaune's hood to a locker leaving the boy dazed.

With Jaune dealt with Weiss could fully focus on the trio in front of her, with an unamused look she crossed her arms in front of her chest. "And what are you three still doing here? It's not a spectacle you know?"

Yang who finally managed to regain control of her laughter stood up on shaky legs. "Hoooo Throne above that was good, well if you really want to know Ice Queen it was way too fun to pass out Vomit boy trying to impress you." Trivia nodded her head furiously while pocketing her scroll.

Weiss's eye twitched in anger before letting out a 'Humph!' with her head high she started dragging Pyrrha away who discreetly used her Semblance to get Milo when she passed by Jaune. "Goodbye Jaune! It was nice meeting you!"

Once the heiress was gone Ruby and Co approached Jaune who had a dejected look on his face, however, it was Yang who talked to him first. "Having some trouble there, lady-killer?"

Ruby held a hand for him which the boy gladly took. "I don't understand. My dad said all women look for is confidence! Where did I go wrong?"

A tap on his shoulder made him turn his eyes towards Trivia who had a smirk on her face, with a wink the petite girl started to mime every move he made with a shockingly accurate facial expression to Jaune's embarrassment. "Yeah ok, it wasn't my best performance..."

With a snicker, Yang strolled in front of him towards a door. "Well 'Snow Angel' probably wasn't the best start."

Jaune still being held by Ruby was gonna complain when the intercom in the room came to life letting the voice of Glynda be heard. "Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation? Again, all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately."

With a pump of her first in the air, Yang started to run out of the room. "Frak yeah! C'mon Triv race you!"

A competitive smile crept on the mute girl's face who started running after her, Jaune looked at them with a defeated sigh. "I'd like to be like them..."

Ruby still holding him started to slowly move forward. "Come on Jaune don't say that, let's go."

Beacon Cliff- Morning

Every students were currently standing on some sort of platform, in front of them stood Ozpin who was casually sipping his coffee mug under the disapproving look of Glynda who was holding some sort of tablet.

Once the last student stood on his platform Ozpin looked at the assembly in front of him. "For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest."

"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today." Glynda glared at the assembly after her declaration.

Ruby on her part was smirking she already knew that, for now Trivia's infos were solid.

"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well."

Ruby saw many students smiling at what she could assume were their friends, she herself glanced at Yang and Trivia, the former gave her a confident thumbs up while reading Ember Cecilia while the latter smirked at her with a wink Hush lazily held on her shoulder.

"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years." Ozpin's declaration changed the confident murmure into panicked ones, something Ruby did not share.

"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die." At that Ruby smiled widden, one of her hand instinctively went to stroke her Cresent Rose still strapped on her back she could already senses the Grimm in the forest it was gonna be fun.

Jaune laughed nervously but she had stopped paying attention, her Aquilla was secured in her other hand, while giving a small prayer to the Emperor.

The rest of Ozpin's speech was drawn out for her until it was Yang's turn to get launched, the blonde winked at her while placing sunglasses on her eyes second later she was launched in the air with a "Who-hooooo!"

Next was Trivia who readied Hush with a determined look on her face, Ruby gave her the Aquilla sign who made the mute smile before being launched too.

Finally, it was her turn, an eager smile spread on her face, crouching low, her arms behind her body Ruby was launched in the air while screaming. "For the Emperor!"

In the air she glanced back seeing Jaune being launched awkwardly however she was not gonna get distracted by it, her eyes and body focused on the sensation of weightlessness she was feeling.

Looking below her she spotted a tree bigger than the other, this was her target, angling her body in the right direction Ruby started to fall faster and faster something that brought a savage smile on her face.

When she was about to hit the tree face first she exploded into millions of rose petals that quickly reformed into a red streak of petals that rushed down the trunk in a spiral faster and faster, when she hit the ground Ruby reformed in a crouched position the ground under her feet buckled and cracks forming a small size crater.

Ruby not affected by the destruction she just caused quickly jumped out of the crater, looking around her she drew out Cresent Rose the weapon already deploying herself as eager as her wielder to spill Grimm's blood.

That is something that she found out during her hunt with Ardal when she was around Grimm Ruby would become more restless and bloodthirsty, she could feel herself become angry just knowing that they were so close to her, how dare they.

Cliffside

Looking at her tablet Glynda watched the students land only to wince at seeing Jaune Arc impaled by his hood by what she could assume was Miss Nikos weapon. "Sir, all students landed, if I may why do you have such interest in Miss Rose?"

Indeed while Glynda was keeping an eye on all the students Ozpin however was watching the drone following Ruby Rose with great interest, the small reaper was currently laying waste to a group of Beowolfs with surprising ferocity leaving behind her mangled bodies who did not disapeared instead the Grimm simply melted into small pool of black goo.

"Well, why don't you ask this question to our guest my dear." Smiling slightly Ozpin took a sip from his drink at the confused expression on Glynda's face.

"Guest?"

It was at this moment that a massive shadow covered her, Glynda's eyes widened, behind her with his arms crossed stood Ardal in his full battle armor. "Thanks you for the invitation Headmaster, watching my charges performing today is an honor."

"Think nothing of it Mister Vo'Shan, so how do you think Miss Rose and her sisters will perform? I am quite curious to know your opinion on it." With a glance at the giant man Ozpin knew that he was currently watching the cameras showing his charges with the help of his helmet HUD.

"Hummm if I may be bold enough I would say that they will crush the daemons with ease, I personally took them at young ages with me in Grimm hunting on Patch."

Glynda's glared at him with shock. "You took children to Grimm hunting?! Are you insane?!"

The Astartes allowed himself to glance at her making him take his eye away from Trivia's form dispatching an Ursa Major with ease thanks to her Semblance and agility if he did not know her he would have thought she was struggling but Trivia was merely playing with it, something he was never able to beat out of her sadly. "Yes, first-hand experience is the best kind of teacher."

With a groan, Glynda returns to watch the children while muttering profanity under her breath.

Emerdal Forest- Yang

She was having fun! Killing Grimm was her calling and duty as much as it was Trivia and even more so Ruby.

Thinking about them a smile graced her face, a smile that widened even more at the view of the three Ursa who approached her in the clearing she just landed in.

Taking her combat pose, Yang goaded the Grimm to come closer with a hand signal. "Come one! Let's dance uglies!"

With roars of anger, the Ursa rushed her at the same time a charge that Yang followed while laughing all the way her golden mane flowing wildly behind her. "That's what I'm talking about! The Emperor protects!"

Reaching the first Ursa Yang used all of her momentum to break the sweeping claw the first Grimm raised at her, with a roar of pain and anger the Ursa staggered back, not letting him get his bearing back Yang used her shotgun to give more momentum to her uppercut at the Ursa's jaw, the punch was so powerful that his head left his body.

Backflipping with the use of the already dissolving body Yang dodged two powerful swipes, looking up she smiled widly at the confused expression on their face. "Come on! That's all you can do?!"

It was at this moment that Yang spotted something slowly floating towards the ground, this something was a single strand of her hair.

At the view of it, Yang's eyes turned red, with gritted teeth she looked at the two Ursa with murderous intent. "You-You!" Her hair burst into flame. "Monter!"

Yang moved so fast that she left a small crater where she used to stand, not being able to react fast enough the second Ursa got punched straight in his muzzle, its head caved in on itself while his body got launched into a tree, said tree did not survive the hit however the Ursa's corpse kept going before finally dissolving leaving behind it a trail of destroyed trees.

If Grimm could be surprised the third one could be considered the latter, Yang not losing her momentum jumped in the air with a cry of rage before punching downward, with the assistance of a shotgun shot her punch completely obliterated the Grimm's head while sending his body in the air, not quite calmed Yang punched the already dead body making it crash into a tree.

Glynda looked at the display of violence Miss Xiao Long had just shown with surprise. "It seems like Xiao Long has anger issues, Sir."

Sipping casually Opzin nodded. "Quite, but her anger can be turned into a powerful weapon if cultivated correctly."

"Indeed Headmaster." The voice grill of Ardal gave him a robotic tone of voice that made Glynda jumped slightly every time. "I taught her to always direct that anger at the enemy of the Imperium, which are the mutants, the xenos, the heretic but most importantly, the daemons."

She wanted to retort back but she knew it was useless, however, Ozpin let out a pensive sound. "So it seems."

After her vent against the Ursas a bush on her left bristle, expecting more Grimm Yang raised her arms with her fists clenched however what walked out of it was the girl from yesterday, the one with the bow on her head, if Yang remembers correctly her name was Blake.

Letting her arms drop she smiled at her. "Guess we're partners now?"

Blake looked around before giving her a small smile. "I guess so."

"Great! Let's go! We shouldn't be too far from the ruin." With a smile Yang started to walk confidently in the direction where she saw the temple while she was in the air, Blake quickly followed her.

Emerdal Forest- Trivia

On the other side of the forest, Trivia was strolling confidently, she had crossed paths with a few students but with the use of her Semblance and the fact that she was mostly looking down she technically never 'met' anyone.

After walking for a good ten minutes the petite mute found the temple and she seemed to be the first one there, with a smile she strolled towards it, inside she found...chess pieces?

With a puzzled look Trivia inspected them, let she was told she spotted the pairs, rooks, pawns, queen, jester... wait, jester?

Looking at it Trivia realized it was a card, not a chess piece picking it up curiously she turned it over to inspect it, that's when she realized.

There weren't enough pieces for everyone they were one too many, if she had to guess it was her and this card was she guessed placed here for that, with a smile she pocketed the plastified card before sitting on a slab of rock to wait for the others.

Glynda watched the cadet of the sisterhood reach the temple first. "Humm it seems like Miss Vo'Shan reached the temple first and like you thought sir she picked up the card, if I may ask why had it?"

A chuckle escaped the headmaster. "Well, I think that giving a chance for all of us students is quite important and Miss Vo'Shan seems like a very skilled fighter, her Semblance in particular gives her an edge over dare I say even fully trained huntsman."

The Astartes next to him nodded. "Yes, I personally trained my daughter more than dare I say, Ruby and Yang, where Yang had the help of her father for her hand-to-hand combat, Ruby had Qrow for her scythe combat technique everything that Trivia knows comes from me, after that she simply found her own style."

With a nod, Glynda went back to her tablet. "She only fought a few Grimm, during those fights she seems to be struggling."

A low chuckle escaped Ardal. "Struggling? No, she was playing with them."

This made Glynda raise an eyebrow at him. "Playing with them?"

"Yes, Trivia to my great chagrin love to play with her opponent." With a sigh, Ardal looked at her. "She is quite confident in her agility and Semblance, it is something I was never able to stomp out of her but it integrates quite well with her fighting style, which is hit and run, well for her it's more hit and dodge but you get the idea."

With a nod of her head, Glynda went back to her drone. "Humm it seems like Miss Rose found her pair, quite the parring if I may be so bold."

Emerdal Forest- Ruby

Ruby was currently dashing through the forest with the use of her Semblance desperately looking for her sisters.

She was going so fast that she was unable to stop her mad dash her petals form washed over a white form, thinking she hit a student with enough air to knock them out Ruby reformed before rushing towards the dazed form on the ground.

However, her sprint was halted when she met the ice-blue eyes of the last person she wanted to see, Weiss Schnee. 'Emperor whyyyyyy?' Wailing internally Ruby gave her a sheepish smile.

"H-Hey guess we're partners now." Extending a hand towards the down heiress who brushed it aside rudely.

"I do not need your help, and it's your fault that I am on the ground! The last thing you could do is apologize!" With a scowl, Weiss stood up rather fast for someone wearing heels.

"R-Right sorry hehe, sooooo partner?" Ruby stroked the bolter part of her weapon to reassure herself.

Looking her up and down with a critical eye Weiss sighed before dragging her in a random direction. "You will do, but do not make me regret my decision."

Ruby pumped her free arm in the air. "Yay!"

Her joy however was cut short by the familiar feeling of Grimm close by, instantly her child-like behavior evaporated to be replaced by cold seriousness.

Applying strength to her feet Ruby stopped Weiss in her tracks to the annoyance of the latter who turned around to complain, however at the view of the serious expression on Ruby's face Weiss was taken aback. "What is it this time?"

"Grimm, King Taiju, a young one, he'll be on us in a minute." The cold seriousness of Ruby was weirding her out, it was like her personality completely shifted.

"A King Taiju? We would be hearing him if that was the case come stop being stupid." Weiss tried to drag her again but Ruby did not move.

"Too late he's here." As if her words were a trigger a two-headed snake slittered out the foliage without making a sound, seeing that it was spotted it completely dropped its stealth to hiss at them.

Weiss was frozen with a look of pure shock on her face. "Wha-"

At that same moment, Ruby used her Semblance to free herself from her grip, glancing behind her she readied herself. "Don't intervene, you're just gonna get hurt."

Coming out of her shock Weiss glared at her. "What do you me-"

She was cut by a white light enveloping Ruby, at the view of it the King Taiju went completely ballistic the ten-meter-long snake came rushing at them with insane speed, a speed that was matched by Ruby who pratically teleported on top of it with a mighty war cry. "For the Emperor! I vanquish thee daemon!"

Weiss's world became white, when her vision came back to her the King Taiju was gone, where the Grimm used to be there only was a weird black pool with Ruby Rose standing next to it the blade of Cresent Rose caked in Grimm blood.

Weiss went slacked jaw at the view of it, after what felt like hours for her Ruby turned around to look at her with a sheepish look the seriousness she showed earlier was gone, the look was however kind of lessened by the black blood not dissipating from her blade and clothes. "Hum, oups? Hehehe"

Shacking her shock away Weiss approached the pool of darkness. "What was that?!"

Rubbing the back of her head Ruby laughed nervously. "My Semblance?"

"Isn't your Semblance speed? The one with rose petals? Do not lie, . ?" Ruby was sweating profusely under her glare.

"It's-It's complicated okay? It's related to the boy thing I told you yesterday." Ruby collapsed Cresent Rose before strapping it back on her belt, Weiss was still waiting for her answer with her arms crossed over her chest. "B-But I promised Yang I won't say anything! At least not for now."

After a long stand-off, Weiss sighed. "Fine, but once this initiation is done I want to know everything."

"Sure!" Ruby smiled at her. "Partner?"

Weiss thought about it, Ruby on one side was an excitable child who was most of the time immature, the fact that she destroyed some of her precious dust did not put a good image of the fidgeting girl in front of her.

On the other side though... Ruby knew when to be serious, Ruby just proved to her that she was a very capable fighter even if her little feat of power drained some of her energy if her sagged shoulder and ragged breath were anything to go by.

With a sigh, something she realized she was doing a lot with this walking menace she started walking in a direction. "I suppose, come it's this way."

This made Ruby smile the younger girl skipping happily behind her like she hadn't just obliterated a giant Grimm like it was nothing her fatigue completely forgotten.

Nobody could see it but Ardal had a satisfied smile on his face, his training on the Saint was showing, killing such a Grimm even a young one this easily was a good show of it.

Glynda was still trying to clear the spot in her eyes, an unheard chuckle escaped the Astartes, of course, she got blinded, she was not one of His followers.

During their training Ardal and Ruby discovered that those not attuned to the Imperial Faith got blinded by the Saint's power were as he and the rest of his charges only felt a comforting warmth enveloping their bodies.

"W-What happened to Miss Rose?" Glynda seems genuinely surprised.

Ardal chuckled at her shocked expression. "This? This was the power of our good! The God Emperor of Mankind!"

Looking at the two of them Ardal could see Glynda giving him a skeptical look, however, he could see that Ozpin as turned off his scroll more importantly the old man was squinting his eyes as if he was in pain.

"Are you well Headmaster? Did the light hurt your eyes?" Jolting out of his pain Ozpin looked at the Astartes on his left.

"Yes, yes my apologize, my eyesight is not what it used to be, light like this is too much for me." Ardal and Ozpin looked at one another for what seemed like hours until the Astartes slowly nodded his head.

The voice of Glynda took him out of his staring at Ozpin. "This is...an interesting transportation..."

Focusing back on his HUD Ardal saw what she meant, Ruby was currently...riding a giant Nevermore with a terrified Weiss dangling from its claw.

At the Ruin

Trivia was filing her nails when she heard voices approaching the ruin, she recognized them as Yang and the bookworm Blake, with a smile on her face she used her Semblance to blend with the wall.

When Yang reached the clearing shortly followed by Blake the two girls looked at the ruin, with her hands on her hips Yang looked at it critically. "Thing this is it?"

In quick strides, Blake peered inside the ruins, at the view of the 'relics' a small smile graced her face. "Looks like it."

"Awesome!" Quickly joining her Yang started to examine the chess pieces before grabbing a black knight with a smile. "What about a cute little pony?"

With a roll of her eyes and a small smile, Blake nodded while Yang kept looking around. "Looks like we're not the first one two something was missing there."

"Hum?" With her curiosity picked Blake approached the altars, like Yang said apart from the piece she picked up for them no pieces were missing except for one.

When the two girls got close enough to the small pillar to inspect it, Trivia took the opportunity to srang her trap, approaching slowly from behind with a devious smile and no sound coming from her petite form, she gently placed a hand on each of the two taller girls.

This got two pretty different reactions from the duo, Yang let out a yelp of fear before turning on herself a punch already aimed at her head that she had to quickly dodge, Blake on her part let out a pretty girly scream before ducking behind a pillar her rump being the only thing sticking out like a cat would do.

When Yang realized who it was her eyes turned red in anger. "Trivia! Throne above don't do that I nearly got a heart attack!"

This made the mute giggle silently before giving her a cute peace sign and a wink, with a sigh Yang approached Blake's hiding spot. "Blakey? It's fine you can come out it was just my stupid sister pulling a prank on us."

Trivia had a mocked expression on her face in her other hand she was typing her answer without even looking. "Dear sister of mine it was a great prank! I never saw you jump so high!"

With a grumble and muted threat, Yang managed to coax Blake out of hiding, once out the withering glare she sent at Trivia made the mute sweat a little.

"So Triv, apart from that where's your partner?" Yang looked at her. "Or do you not have one?"

Shrugging Trivia took the time to type her answer. "Don't have one, but I got this." Saying that Trivia took the joker card from her pocket before presenting it to the two girls who looked at it with curiosity on their faces.

"A joker card?" Yang rubbed the back of her head. "Aren't the relics chess pieces?"

Shurgging again Trivia pocketed the card again. "Dunno, but I was the first one here you're actually the only two people who reached here apart from yours truly."

With a nod, Yang went to sit. "Well might as well wait for Ruby."

However before she could sit a loud crashing sound resonated from the forest close to them, quickly standing up, the three girls took their fighting position.

Not long after an Ursa came crashing through the trees on its back legs, the Grimm took two lumbering steps towards the groups before falling with a pained mewling to reveal on its back the girl Trivia and Yang knew as Nora who pouted at the downed Grimm. "Awwww it's broken."

Following the now-deceased Grimm the boy, Ren came running out of the forest out of breath, putting his hands on his knees Ren looked at the ginger who was still sitting on the dissolving Grimm. "Nora...don't do that...ever again."

Nora not seemingly listening to him let out an 'Ouhhh' before zooming towards the chess pieces and grabbing a rook. "Look, Ren! I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!"

With her eyes wide open Yang looked at her small group. "Did that girl just ride an Ursa?"

Blake looked at the dissolving corpse. "Seems so."

Ren came running towards Nora who was zooming around the ruins. "Nora!"

This seemed to get her attention, with a big smile she happily jumped towards him. "Coming Ren!"

Not too soon after another tremor resonated through the forest, with a groan Yang looked around. "Again?!"

This time however a girl came running out of the forest with a terrified expression on her face, this girl was revealed to be Pyrrha Nikos the trees behind her were falling revealing a giant Deathstalker with a screaming Jaune Arc dangling from its stinger.

With a slide, Pyrrah stopped next to them before turning around to look at the blond boy who was screaming for his life. "Hold on Jaune!"

The Deathstalker took that exact opportunity to shake his tail making Jaune let go, with a rather girly scream he was sent flying straight into a wall of the ruins, when he hit the ground face first, Jaune raised a thumbs up with a groan. "I'm fine...!"

Looking confused Yang looked at the screeching Deathstalker. "Did that girl run all the way here with a Deathstalker behind her?"

Trivia shrugged, and above her a faint "Heads upppp!" could be heard.

Looking up Blake stared wide-eyed at a giant Nevermore flying overhead. "Guys look!"

Looking up the group watched in awe at the giant Grimm flying overhead, or more precisely the red blur flying towards them, Nora let out an excited shout. "Look, Ren! A meteor! Quick make a wish!"

With a sigh, Ren shook his head with a small smile. "Nora, meteor don't show up during the day."

Letting out an 'awww' in disappointment the group watched the blur get closer and closer until Yang realized what it was making her eyes widen. "Ruby?!"

The red meteor now forming a cone hit the ground at full force creating a five-meter-wide crater inside of it a tornado of rose petals was raging, after a few seconds the petals regrouped into a daze Ruby. "Owwww never again..."

Jumping in the hole in worry Yang and Trivia came to their sister's side. "Rubes you ok?!"

Looking in her direction with a dazed look Ruby gave her a dopey smile. "Yannnng~! Did you get the number of that truck~?"

Standing up Trivia shrugged before turning towards the group looking at them from the top of the hole with her scroll in hand. "She's fine guys just dazed."

Gasping, Nora joined them in the hole with a big smile on her face. "Dazed?! That! Was! Awesome! Do it again!"

Shaking her head Ruby finally got a good look at her surroundings, her gaze stopped on everyone before realization hit her. "Did anyone see Weiss?"

Looking around everyone shook their head negatively, above them the group saw the Nevermore circling around the ruin with a small white dot dangling from its talon, a cry could be heard in the wind. "How could you leave me?!

Jumping out of the crater Ruby cupped her hands over her mouth. "I said jump!"

Looking up Blake had an unimpressed look on her face. "She's gonna fall."

Ruby waved her hand dismissively at her. "She'll be fine."

Weiss took this opportunity to let go of the talon, with a deadpan look the group watched her fall, Ren and Trivia's TTS spoke at the same time. "She's falling/Jinked it sis."

Jaune who was a bit in the back smiled at the view of the opportunity in front of him, with agility never seen before from him Jaune climbed the ruin, when he was sure he could catch her Jaune jumped... and got beat to it by Trivia catching her like a potato sack making the heiress let out an 'Oumph!' of pain.

Jaune now mid-air fell back down face first on the ground, letting out a growl of pain he was gonna stand back up but two hard boots hit his back pushing him back down, with a pained gasp Jaune lay down in defeat. "My back..."

Looking down Trivia saw Jaune under her, with an apologetic smile she quickly stepped away from him before letting go of Weiss who sent her a murderous glare. "You brute-! At the crossed arms and raised eyebrow of the mute Weiss exhaled to let go of some of her anger. "Thank you... I suppose."

Happy with the apology Trivia bowed mockingly to her making Weiss growl.

With the help of Pyrrha Jaune was back in the group making the group now complete seeing that Yang smiled and threw her arms in the sky. "Great! The gang's all here! Now we can all die together!"

The Deathstalker took this opportunity to screech in their direction, at the view of it a feral smile appeared on Ruby's face, taking out Cresent Rose in her bolter form the red-caped girl aimed and shot surprising those who never heard the deafening sound of a bolt leaving it's chamber.

However, the Deathstalker being more ancient than Ruby thought saw the projectile, with instinct honed by the countless Huntsmen it had killed the Grimm raised its pincers in front of its face, the thick armor of it slowed the bolt enough to only shatter its left pincer completely making him flayed widely in pain.

The Grimm realizing it was too much wounded tried to fall back, with a cute war cry Cresent Rose extended completely, realizing what she was gonna do Yang tried to stop her. "Ruby wait!"

Her hand missed the cape by a hair's breadth, the small girl now in a full sprint towards the Deathstalker failed to see the Nevermore doing a pacing of her, at the view of the hurtful white light the Grimm let out a cry of anger.

Stabilizing itself in mid-air the Nevermore released one of the most powerful attacks its kind possessed, their artillery-like feather barrage, with the size of it the feathers were the size of cars.

But Ruby was not a novice, she spotted the barrage coming in her direction, jumping left she dodged the few firsts razor sharp projectiles before cutting in half two others, she was so focused on dodging the flying Grimm attack that she did not realize that the Deathstalker instead of fleeing had creept up on her with its stinger ready.

At the view of it, Yang's eyes widened, sharing a look with Trivia the two sisters rushed towards the dancing reaper. "Ruby watch out!"

But it was too late, Ruby looked behind her only to watch the stinger at arm's length with her, she was gonna get hit, but she couldn't dodge it, in her shock she completely forgot about her Semblance, closing her eyes she waited for the inevitable that...never came.

Opening her eyes Ruby looked at the Deathstalker's stinger stuck in a wall of ice next to an annoyed-looking Weiss who was glaring at her. "You are so childish! And dim-witted, and hyperactive, I concur you know how to fight but it's not everything... and I suppose I can be a bit... difficult... but if we're going to do this, we're going to have to do this together. So if you quit trying to show off, I'll be... nicer."

This stung Ruby more than it should have, she know how to fight! She's been taught by an Astartes! She killed Deathstalker before...but none so big, with a sigh Ruby looked down. "I'm not trying to show off. I know I can do this."

With a roll of her eyes, Weiss started to walk back to the group; "Then you might want to lower your standards."

Visibily flinching Ruby looked down with her eyes shut her voice barely a whisper. "Yeah...I'm still just a little girl..."

Her musing however was stopped by a double hug from her sisters Yang being the voice of concern of the two. "Ruby! Are you alright?!" The hug was so strong that Ruby started to turn red her wiggling more desperate.

Seeing it the two let her go begrudgingly, with her breath back Ruby nodded. "Y-Yeah, I was just not expecting the Nevermore feathers..."

With a glare filled with hatred at the giant flying overhead her eyes flared white for a second but nothing happened to the Elder Grimm, with a groan Ruby placed her hand on her head. 'Still not strong enough for the big one...'

Her musing was cut short by Jaune pointing at said Nevermore who was coming back. "Guys? That thing's circling back! What are we gonna do?"

Approaching the relics Weiss picked up to Yang's relief the second knight piece. "Look, there's no sense in dilly-dallying. Our objective is right in front of us."

With a growl, Ruby stared at the Grimm with a hateful look gaining some curious glances from the others. "She's right. Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the Cliffs." Her very being wanted to just purge those Grimm but she will not jeopardize everyone's chance to attend Beacon "There's no point in fighting these things."

With a happy nod and the sound of ice breaking from the Deathstalker, Jaune quickly picked up the second rook piece. "Run and live - that's an idea I can get behind!"

When he turned around Jaune's gaze met Ruby's gaze, with a nod and a smile to one another the two started to run in the direction of the cliff, looking back Ruby waved at them. "Come on! Let's go!"

With a small Yang started to run with Trivia and Blake to either side of her, Blake glanced at her. "What is it?"

With a chuckle and a knowing look to Trivia Yang vaulted over a rock. "Nothing, we're just proud of our lil' sis."

At the Larger Ruins after a 10-minute run

With a flurry of movement Ruby jumped in front of Ren Cresent Rose moving in a wide arc in front of her to cut a giant feather to shred, looking backward she pointed at the bridge. "This way!"

Ren gave her a thankful nod that she returned, the group was currently waving through ancient stone pillars the Nevermore above them taking potshots at them that were to its great annoyance always either dodged or cut in half by the red menace with great reflexes and strength.

With a mighty flap of its wing, the Grimm hovered over the ruin on the other side of the bridge, with a caw that shook some of the ruins ruble the Nevermore perched itself on one of the broken towers of the ruin with its wings open daring them to approach if they wanted to get cut to ribbon by its feathers.

Atop a pillar, Yang grunted in annoyance. "Well, that's just great!"

The Deathstalker took this moment to burst through the treeline its remaining pincer clicking menacingly at them, the group now stuck between two elder Grimm chose to run forward under Jaune's panicked cry. "Aww man what do we do!"

Running out of the pillars with Jaune being more dragged by Pyrrha than anything else due to the enraged Deathslaker smashing through them sending stones smashing all around them, a giant block of stone flew towards Ren, the Mistralian boy not having seen it.

Thankfully for him, Weiss who was behind him saw it. "Ren! Jump!" Thrusting the warning cry Ren jumped in the air white intricate symbols appeared under his feet allowing him to propel himself further away allowing him to dodge the massive slab of rock, Weiss on her part used a speed glyph to propel herself forward dodging it too.

Without stopping her running Ruby shouldered Cresent Rose in her bolter shot, with a slow exhale of air Ruby felt the world around her, the vibration from the wings of the elder Grimm, the pebbles under her combat boots, Yang Ember Celica going off in the distance, every little sound she could hear when she inhaled back and opened her eyes she pressed the trigger with a roar of her Cresent Rose a bolt left the chamber.

The bolt flew true the Nevermore's left wing at the joint chattered, black blood and bone breaking sending the great crow in an uncontrolled fall making it shatter the bridge and fall in the chasms his cry of pain and rage followed it until a tremor shook the ruins sending Jaune stumbling head over ass his fall only getting stopped thanks to Pyrrha grabbing him by the hoodie.

"Whoa! What was that?!" Looking around Jaune gaped like a fish at the view of Ruby's bolter smoking barrel, even if it was the second time he saw it shoot it was still incredible to see such power in a weapon, the little reaper behind it smiling with a pleased look on her face.

Jumping next to said girl from her pillar Yang threw an arm around her shoulder with a fist in the air and a big smile on her face. "Whouhou! That's my sister!"

In the background with their running stopped in front of the now broken bridge, the crippled Deathstalker who was chasing them let out a dying sound courtesy of Trivia, Ren, Nora and Blake who managed to finish it with a combination of Trivia's skill with Silence who weakened the stinger, a masterful throw of Gambol Shroud who cut said weakened stinger and Nora strength the Grimm was quickly dealt with.

With the Grimm now defeated the teens regrouped with smiles on their faces, yes even Weiss allowed herself a satisfied smile, bouncing around them Nora threw her arms around Trivia and Ruby's necks with a big smile. "That was awesome! We were like woush! And Boum! And then Ruby went POW and the Nevermore was like "Nooooooo" we have to do it again!"

Out of breath the two weakly beat on her shoulder to pry themselves away from her, thankfully Ren came to their rescue, with a calm hand and an even calmer tone of voice he looked at the excited ginger. "Nora, let them go."

Finally realizing what she was doing Nora let go of them prompting the two to fall on the ground dazed and out of breath. "Whoups hehehe sorry guys."

A chuckle went through the none-out-of-breath teens at Nora's antic, when the two sisters finally stood up Ruby shook her head. "Throne your strong..." Trivia nodded at that.

Looking around Blake realized something. "Hum, guys? How do we cross? The bridge is broken." With a wave of her hand towards the now giant gap in front of them Ruby chuckled nervously.

"Hummmm, Whoups? S-Sorry guys..." Looking down Yang and Trivia quickly approached her to cheer her up at the downtrodden looking of their little sister.

"Awww don't worry Rubes, that was a hell of a shot you should be proud of that." With a bright smile and a nod from Trivia, Ruby looked up with a small smile.

"Thanks, guys...but we still can't cross." This made everyone think about it, Ruby while rubbing her shin in thought got an epiphany, with a snap of her fingers and a big smile on her face she looked at them.

"We can use-", 'Why don't we-" This made her stop and look at who at talking at the same time as her revealing it to be Jaune who had an embarrassed look on his face while staring at her.

Ruby let out a small giggle. "Go on Jaune."

With wide eyes, Jaune looked at her. "You-You sure? Your idea must be better than mine..."

A hand placed itself on his shoulder revealing it to be Pyrrha. "Don't say that Jaune, like I told you before you will make a great leader I'm sure of it."

Looking around he could see the groups giving him big smiles, except for Weiss who crossed her arms with an annoyed roll of her eyes.

This made him let out an annoyed chuckle. "W-Well earlier Weiss used something to save Ren, we hum could use that to cross?"

A proud smile etched itself on Pyrrha's face who nodded. "That's a great idea Jaune."

This seems to boost the boy's confidence in himself. "Thanks, Pyrrha." A gentle squeeze on his shoulder let him know his words pleased the redhead.

After this short but sweet moment, the group turned their head in sync at the heiress who was watching them with an annoyed look on her face. "What?" At the expecting looks sent her way and the bouncing Nora Weiss let out an annoyed sigh while unfurling her arms, drawing Myrtenaster at the same time.

In a very primed and proper way, Weiss crossed the way toward the collapsed bridge with her head high with an air of superiority making the sisters roll their eyes at the same time, looking backward towards Ruby Weiss let a faint smile grace her face making Jaune sigh dreamily to Pyrrha chagrin. "You owe me for this."

With quick hand movements showing practice and skill Weiss buried half of her blade in the ground, a larger glyph rose from the ground and was quickly followed by smaller ones appearing in the air creating a path for them, when the glow around her receded Weiss stood up and looked at her handy work with a proud smile.

Her self-boasting was however cut short by snickering, the smile on her face turned back to her usual frown, behind her Yang was elbowing Trivia while snickering. "Look the Ice Queen can smile."

Growling in her direction Weiss with both her palms open pointed at the bridge. "No need to thank me."

The first one to walk towards the bridge was Ruby who gave a sincere smile to her. "Thanks Weiss, we couldn't have crossed without you."

Weiss let out a small huff of air while looking away her arms crossed over her chest a bit of red tinging her cheek while boasting in the praise. "Of course, you couldn't have the glyphs are my family Semblance heirloom after all."

A giggle escaped Ruby who stopped in front of the glyphs path. "I mean, technically I could cross it without you." Not letting the heiress snap back at her Ruby used her Semblance to cross the gap with the help of Weiss's glyph behind her she heard the angry response, it sounded a lot like 'Come back here you insufferable little dunce!' but she ignored it, in seconds she was waiting for them on the other side.

With a smile on her face and Cresent Rose firmly planted on the ground Ruby looked at the assembly on the other side of the bridge, the wind took this moment to pick up intensity sending her cap slowly bellowing behind her the ray of the sun gleaming on her making the blade of her scythe shine above her.

On the other side, the groups looked at her with awe, except for Weiss who was still fuming from the jab sent her way, that was until an elbow gently hit her on the arms, wipping around with a death glare she ended up face to face with a smirking Yang. "You can say whatever you want Ice Queen, but Ruby is special like that." With that cryptic message, Yang dashed towards the bridge quickly followed by Trivia who winked at her.

Once the entire group was on the other side with Jaune having to be carried by Pyrrha who was secretly quite happy about it the group quickly reached the top of the cliff where Glynda and Ozpin were waiting for them.

Auditorium- 1 hour later

"Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark. The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL, led by... Cardin Winchester!" A small ovation followed the Headmaster's declaration the four boys left the stage proudly.

The next group quickly followed them, with a smile Ozpin looked at them while their picture appeared on the giant screen behind them. "Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR." The ovation was a bit stronger with Nora giving a big hug to Ren. "Led by...Jaune Arc!"

The blond boy did a double-take at that. "Huh? L-Led by...?"

With a nod of his head, Ozpin smiled at him. "Congratulations, young man."

This prompted Nora to jump in the air happily with Ren next to her nodding his head approvingly, Pyrrha on her part had a giant smile on her face and with a friendly shoulder bump that was apparently a bit too strong and unexpected for him, Jaune fell under the laughter of the audience.

While Pyrrha was helping him stand him while profusely apologizing JNPR left the stage letting four more students on the stage, looking at them Ozpin couldn't help but have his gaze fixed on the youngest of the group. "Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!"

A shocked look replaced the confident one on Weiss's face who stared at the shocked Ruby who was looking at Ozpin with wide eyes a look that quickly turned into a pained one when Yang picked up from the ground in a hug. "Ho Emperor! I'm so proud of you!"

With a chuckle, Ozpin shooed the group away letting a single student who walked confidently towards him with a smirk on her face under the whisper of the crowd, turning back to the microphone Ozpin silenced them. "As the most attentive of you all realize this year the number of students attending Beacon wouldn't allow us to make perfect four teams that's why we had added a special relic in the ruin." Looking at the mute Ozpin pointed his open palm at her expectantly. "My dear if you would?"

With a nod, Trivia retrieved the card under the curious whisper of the crowd before giving it to Ozpin who raised it allowing a camera to display it on the screen behind him. "The Joker card, a fitting item for a card able to replace or add strength to someone's deck, this is why the owner of said card gets to choose in which team they would like to be."

Under the now bustling talk of the crowd, Trivia looked at Opzin with wide surprised eyes, with a smile of his own Ozpin showed the screen where all the first-year team names were depicted. "Which one will you choose young lady?"

Looking over her shoulder Trivia saw Ruby shaking her hand excitedly over her head with a big smile on her with, her smile was contagious on Trivia who turned back towards the Headmaster her scroll already in her hand. "I'd like to join Team RWBY Headmaster."

Letting out a chuckle at the predictable answer Ozpin nodded. "Very well." Turning back towards the crowd the picture of Team RWBY came back on screen now with the added picture of Trivia next to Yang's one. "For the next four years, Team RWBY would be now RWBYT the name will not change, however." Under the cheer of the crowd, Trivia joined her sisters who quickly hugged her.

With a cheer of happiness, Yang smiles at the Team. "Beacon is gonna be awesome! I can feel it!"

One the scene Ozpin took a sip of his coffee with a small chuckle. "It looks like things are shaping up to be an... interesting year."

Shaking his head he turned back to the microphone, with a few taps on it the crowd turned silent again. "Now, I am sure you would all like to go to your new rooms but I have one final announcement to make." Behind him, Glynda rolled her eyes.

The confused whisper he received made him cough to regain their attention. "As you know a Huntsman is more than a simple Grimm killer, on top of that it is expected that you as the next generation be able to take care of your equipment and tend to your wounds when aura fails you." This got him some snickers from over-confident students, but the Headmaster promptly ignored them. "That's why Beacon Academy this year recruited a new teacher to help you in the field of medicine and gear maintenance."

Stepping away from the microphone towards Glynda who was sending a message on her scroll, Ozpin glanced at team RWBYT who were looking at one another with curious looks that were shared by the rest of the students, even some of the older ones who assisted at the ceremony.

Their whispers however were quickly snuffed out by a loud -THUMP- followed by a hydraulic piston, who was followed by another, and another.

Now the students were looking at the darkness of the stage nervously without saying anything except for the looking of realization on three specific students who whispered excitedly between them.

After another loud -THUMP- a pair of bright 'frowning' red eyes appeared in the darkness making some of the students shout in surprise, the older ones put their hands on their weapons in anticipation.

The eyes were too high to be a normal man if Ozpin was to stand next to the owner of said eyes a Ruby would need to be placed on his shoulder to hope to reach them, the being in question after standing motionless in the dark for a few seconds finally walked in the light, dark green armor with red decals trimmed with gold stepped towards the front of the stage who was groaning in protest at his weight, the ever scowling white helmet took the awed students look in front of him before talking in a deep robotic voice.

"Greeting young warriors." His voice sent tremors through the assembly, a trio however were smiling brigtly at the giant on the stage to the confusion of Blake and Weiss their musing was however stopped at the voice of the giant. "Most might know me thanks to the CCTV, allow me to enlighten you to who I am."

With a small bow why too fluid for a being of such height and apparent clunkiness the man's armor presented itself. "My name is Vo'shan Ardal." When he presented himself the one closest to Team RWBYT stared with wide eyes at the T of the team who couldn't contain her excitement anymore, with a quick jump on Yang's shoulders, the blond not seeming to mind, the mute waved her hand at her adopted father on stage with a big smile on her face.

The Astartes having seen her nodded in her direction before turning back to the crowd. "It is an honor to be teaching young warriors my crafts, under my teaching, those willing to allow me to imprint my knowledge on you will learn much either in medicine or how to take care of your most important possession, your gear."

Looking back towards the Headmaster who nodded at him Ardal looked at the still awed face hanging from his every word. "However, like you to officially join Beacon Academy I must pass an 'initiation'." Looking again at the approaching form of Opzin the Astartes stepped aside from the unused microphone.

Coughing at the assembly Ozpin smiled at them. "Indeed like Mister Vo'Shan said he has not proven himself yet to be worthy of joining Beacon even if his..." Glancing at the massive Astartes who had his arms crossed over his chest not moving an inch. "size could be a factor, he still needs to be tested for that and my second Glynda Goodwitch have prepared a different test for him."

Behind him, the screen switched again to show a panoramic view of the Emerdal Forest. "As we speak now the other teachers are placing Mister Vo'Shan challenges." With a look at the large man, the Astartes nodded to him and the crowd before leaving back to the shadows of the stage.

Once gone the crowd erupted in talk, some excited, others more skeptical, however, a certain trio was facing the gaze of two enemies now allied against them and Team JNPR's gaze. "What do you mean the 'Giant of Vale' is your father and grandfather?!"

With a shrug imitated by Yang and Ruby at the heiress, Trivia's TTS was already typing her answer. "Well, he rescued me from the street ten years ago and adopted me officially a year before I joined Signal."

Blake looked at Ruby while rubbing her temple the reason why White Fang hesitated to hit Vale for ten years was a family member of more than half her new team. "When were you gonna tell us?"

A weak chuckle escaped Ruby who raised her hands in a surrendering way. "I-I mean, maybe? We-we didn't know he was gonna be here promise!"

"THAT AWESOME!" Jumping at the sound eight pairs of eyes looked at the vibrating Nora. "The Giant of Vale is my hero! And he's in your family!? Ho my gosh, that's amazing! You heard that Ren?!"

Nora started to shake her best friends quickly, the boy nodding like nothing was happening. "Yes, Nora."

With a gasp, Nora teleported in front of Ruby shaking her too. "Does he have a giant hammer?! He must have he is soooooo big and even cooler than on my scroll!"

Yang blinked at the girl. "Hum no, but Gramps has this neat sword that acts as a chainsaw too, he calls it a 'chainsword'."

Nora let go of Ruby who fell down, dazed before doing the same to Yang. "A CHAINSWORD?! That must be the second coolest weapon ever! The first being Magnhild of course!"

A calming voice from behind her made the bubbly girl let go of Yang who too fell in a heap on the ground next to Ruby. "Nora, calm down, I'm sure you could talk to him later besides it's gonna start."

This got the group's attention who stared at the screen sans Ruby and Yang, indeed on it, you could see Ardal standing where they started their initiation with Ozpin next to him who was calmly sipping his cup.

Emerdal Forest- Cliffside

Ozpin's voice through the speaker quieted the room faster than Weiss trying to make a joke. "Well Mister Vo'Shan, are you ready?"

With a nod the Astartes did not move an inch with his gaze focused on the forest below him. "Yes, Headmaster."

Taking a sip from his cup, Ozpin eyed him. "Very well, your initiation will happen in three separate parts, the first one is fairly simple like the students you must recover a relic somewhere in the forest you must use the hint disseminated throughout it to find it." At the lack of reaction, Ozpin continued. "Your next objective will be to 'save' a wounded Huntsman at your disposition you have a Bullhead ready for extraction the radio to contact the pilot is Beacon's distress line, you will receive a distress call once you have recovered the relic."

Ardal nodded at that making Ozpin smile. "Finally your last challenge will be hardest, you will have to hunt and kill a Sphinx who made his nest in the forest his last sighting position while be sent to you once the second stage is completed, you will do this alone on top of all the Grimm already present in the forest, no one will help you if you fail you will die."

The Astartes did not react, however at the auditorium, the students were going ballistic, the sister's trio were the most worried behind them they could hear. 'A Sphinx?!', 'Aren't they like spitting fire giant?! He's gonna die!' and more shouts and cries of indignation followed them.

Looking at the screen Ruby realized something. "Wait, if Ardy as to kill a Sphinx... where is it? I didn't sense it when we were doing our initiation..."

Trivia and Yang shared a worried look which quickly turned into a confident smile for Yang who shrugged. "Mhe, I wouldn't be too worried about him Rubes, where talking about Gramps here, he is gonna win no matter what."

The confidence radiating from the blonde infected her sisters who tentatively smiled back at her. "Yeah...your right! Go Grampa! Kick their butt!"

On the cliff, Ozpin took out his scroll and pressed a button. "You may go when you want Mister Vo'Shan and good luck."

Not waiting any more time Ardal in a blur of green ran towards the edge of the cliff under the surprised look of even Ozpin and the shouts of surprise and horror from the auditorium.

Airborne for a split second the Astartes looked around him to spot any landmark to start his search his scanner working at full capacity, after what felt like hours but in reality, was only a second Ardal angled his body before falling through the canopy of the forest feet first.

The thick branches were no match for multiple tons of power armor and genetically modified human, when the ground came close the Astartes bent his knee a second before the sole of his armored boots hit the ground with a thunderous -BOOM- a massive cloud of smoke and dust raised up revealing a crater big enough to engulf the giant armored man.

For a few seconds nothing happened, everyone in the auditorium was holding their breath, aura or not no one could survive such a fall but contrary to what they were expecting a hand grabbed the side of the crater, a hand that was quickly joined by her twin, in a motion too fluid for something that big the Astartes rose from the ground unscathed.

Looking around him with his scanner already analyzing the ground and the air around him Ardal started to follow a faint human heat signature that dated from less than an hour ago towards where he guessed one of the clues was hidden, his theory was proven right when he stumble upon what seems to be a small box half buried in the ground.

Crouching down Ardal slowly picked up the box when a red dot appeared on his HUD behind him, not turning around still inspecting the box the las-mounted weapon on his power pack followed the red dot movement.

Opening the box Ardal picked up delicately the scroll at the bottom of the box, with an eye still glancing at the red dot who had started to approach him slowly a camera feed revealed to him that it was a lone Ursa minor, the young Grimm thinking it could get an easy snack on him.

The las-weapon on his shoulder let out a small whine followed by a shot piercing the head of the Grimm killing it instantly.

Not even glancing at the dissolving Grimm Ardal opened the only application on it, a GPS.

Ruby was gushing over what she saw with a big smile. "So that's what it does! I never saw Ardy use it before! It's like Silence!"

With a nod, Trivia looked at her dad with a satisfied smirk.

Nora was staring oddly still at the screen before turning to her best friend. "Ren? I want one."

A shiver ran down the boy's spine who looked at her with a worried look. "Later Nora."

With a nod, the group looked back at the screen

After five minutes of running, which was for a Space Marine very fast. Ardal finally reached the GPS destination, it being a cave that for most would looked like a gaping maw but for Ardal, it was simply Thursdays.

Thanks to his enhanced vision and night vision integrated into his helmet Ardal walked into the cave without fear his chainsword in hand, what he quickly realized was the number of red dots that kept growing the more he pushed into the large cave.

When he reached an intersection masking him from the dozens of hostiles the Astartes walked forward without fear, inside a large pack of Beowulf was sleeping, but what got his attention however was the item next to the Alpha of the pack, an Imperial Aquilla.

With a growl of annoyance, Ardal activated his chainsword, the roar of the spinning blade waking up the entire pack, soon dozens of red eyes were staring at him. Not retreating Ardal took a runner's position before running at full speed at the closest Beowulf.

The Grimm who was still prone did not have time to react for his head had already left its shoulders the corpse tried to stand up before realizing it was headless and already dissolving with a shudder, it fell back down never to move again.

Realizing what was happening the Alpha howled in anger the pack already moving in a frenzy of fur and claws.

The Space Marine who had not stopped his run after his first kill started to quite literally dance between opponents, one second he was punching a Beowulf hard enough to break his neck and send it barrelling through one of his brethren, the next second was cutting one in half its dying cry resonating through the cave.

After what felt like a dozen or so minutes but in reality was only two minutes the only Grimm standing between him and the relic was the Alpha who was snarling at him while circling him slowly.

However Ardal had other things to do, with a swift movement his bolter was raised from his other hand, a surprised yelp escaped the Alpha before a .75 rocket-propelled caliber with adamantium tip pierced the armored head of the Grimm like wet paper before exploding reducing everything above his shoulders to nothing, the corpse being thrown off its feet never to move again.

Silence reigned through the assembly, watching such a big being moving fast enough to be a blur and then obliterating the head of what looked like a fairly old Alpha Beowulf like it was nothing surprised almost everyone.

Right now a smug-looking Yang was looking at Weiss with her arms crossed. "Told ya he could do it. Gramps is no pushover."

Being taken out of her reverie Weiss glared at the blonde. "What was THAT? I never saw a type of dust react like this!"

With a snort, Yang focused back on the screen showing Ardal picking up the Aquilla reverently. "That's because there's no dust in his bolts Ice Queen."

Weiss's mouth opened and closed like a fish for a few seconds for once she was completely caught off guard. "W-What do you mean no Dust?"

Even Blake was eavesdropping discreetly the bow on her head shuffling lightly. "Exactly that, he uses something called Promethium and his ammunitions are literally rocket bullets."

Weiss was gonna retort when Pyrrha voice took her back to the screen. "Ho, it appeared that Mister Vo'Shan received the distress call."

Now outside the cave with the 'relic' safely secured in one of his many armored pouches Ardal looked around him after having taken a single step his coms came to life revealing a familiar voice. "Can anyone hear me? It's Huntsman Qrow Brawen, I got- humpf- injured by some Grimms, I need help fast or I ain't making it. *cough-cough!*" His voice was ragged like he had trouble speaking the coughing only made him more worried for the man.

Placing a hand next to his helmet to activate his comm. "Huntsman Qrow Brawen, this is Vo'Shan Ardal in need of your coordinate for evac."

A pained grunt answered him. "I dunno where I am exactly, I'm near a river tho if it helps."

Nodding to himself Ardal looked around him straining his Catalepsean Node to hear the river, after a minute he finally heard the sound of rushing water.

"I am inbound to your location, I will be there shortly." Not waiting for an answer Ardal started to run towards the distant sound, his footsteps shook the ground, trees and branches were no match for such a fast-moving object.

In no time Ardal had reached the river, looking around, it was not hard to spot the heavily bleeding form of Qrow on the other side. With a rather soft jump to not aggravate whatever wound the man had Ardal crouched next to him, his scanner already giving him all he needed to know about his condition.

However, during the examination, Ardal couldn't help but shake the feeling that something was wrong with the heavily bleeding man in front of him, when he looked closely he finally realized what it was, it being his eyes.

Indeed the eyes of Qrow were dull and lifeless but the wounded was clearly moving and in 'pain'.

At first, he immediately thought of Chaos, more precisely a servant of the Plague God but his scan did not show any taint or corruption, that's when it hit him, it is not really Qrow it is nothing but a puppet then. 'A Semblance? But who?'

During his musing his scan had finished showing three deep gashes on his stomach that went from his navel to his left pectoral this wound looked like a Beowolf had a field day with him, same as his right calf who had a bite mark thankfully for him the Grimm who had got to him did not tear it off from him.

Qrow still hissing in pain, looked at him. "Am I gonna live doc?"

An unseen shiver went through his body at the view of those lifeless eyes asking such a question but Ardal nodded. "Yes, Huntsman Qrow apart from the bite wound and the claw injuries your left lung has been perforated I will now provide the first aid."

At the weak nod of the wounded Ardal grabbed his medikit on the back of his belt, opening the box the first thing he took was a pair of surgical scissors that he used to cut open the shirt and overcoat masking the true extent of the wounds.

With an expert hand he slowly peeled away the layer of clothing revealing the messy wound, his action made 'Qrow' hiss in pain, a quick look at his face revealed to him that he was in great pain.

With a nod to himself, Ardal opened his Narticium from which he took the same IV tube he used all those years ago to save the life of Taiyang, find a vein in his arm was not hard but the jittery arm of the man would have given any medic a hard time but Ardal was not any healer, with expert precision the IV containing the painkiller was stuck in his arm to his patient displeasure.

With a wet cough filled with blood, 'Qrow' glared at him. "W-Watch it tin can!"

Ardal did not deign to answer him the painkiller he was using on him was strong enough to render a Space Marine numb that's why he only gave him a really small dose Qrow being a simple human got knockout nearly instantly, now sure that he would cause more pain to him the Astartes went to work.

The first thing he did was use the pincer of his power back to carefully open the wound for him allowing him to have a closer look at the perforated lung, with his enhanced vision and zoom in his helmet, Ardal turned on the spot of his powerpack.

What he saw was not pretty, normally Ardal would have deemed this man a lost cause but thanks to aura, something he also realized this puppet did not possess, considering that Ozpin had not intervened Ardal figured it was part of the test, with a small nod he inserted another tube in the wound straight into the lung, this one started to slowly suck the blood out of it.

While this was happening his hands did not stay idle, without looking thanks to years of experience Ardal grabbed a sterile gauze covered with antiseptic to carefully clean the wounds.

Once done and the punctured lung empty of blood Ardal removed the bloody tube from Qrow's inside, from his medikit he produced a small round container that he opened, inside of it the drone above his shoulder could see some sort of white powder, with the help of a rather long cotton swabs dipped in the powder Ardal applied it to the wound the substance quickly hardened creating a protective film who also reduced pain even further.

With a satisfied nod, Ardal removed the cotton swabs and his pincer letting the wound go back to its original form blood slowly seeping out of it, sending a look at Qrow's face Ardal could see the man was breathing more easily the powder's miraculous effect showing its use.

The next item Ardal took out was a tourniquet that he applied to the bleeding leg to stop it from getting worse, knowing he was on a timer Ardal expertly bandaged both wounds after cleaning the bleeding calf, giving one last look at the sleeping 'man' Ardal grabbed a yellow square that when opened revealed an emergency blanket that he wrapped around his patient to keep him warm.

Satisfied with his work Ardal quickly cleaned and packed up his equipment before standing up, the com he was given to contact a medivac already activated. "Eagle-1 do you copy?"

After a few seconds, his com came to life. "Eagle-1 here I hear you loud and clear what's your status?"

Already fiddling with the scroll that was given to him Ardal sent coordinates to the pilot. "I have sent you coordinate to my position I have a wounded Huntsman with me, I need a medivac as soon as possible I will be staying to protect the wounded until your arrival, Ardal out."

"Copy sir, we will be there in ten minutes hold tight Eagle-1 out." On his HUD Ardal activated a timer of ten minutes before taking his bolter in his hand while looking around ready to defend his patient if needed.

Thankfully for him, nothing happened, from afar Ardal heard the whine of the Bullhead engine quickly approaching his position, at the ten-minute mark the flying engine was above him, from the side of it a stretcher attached to two thick cables was slowly lowered towards him.

Understanding what was asked of him Ardal grabbed the lowering stretcher that he used to gently slide under Qrow's body without disrupting his wounds too much.

Once he was secured Ardal sent a green light to the pilot which prompted the stretcher to slowly raise towards the hovering craft straight in the arms of two persons wearing medical outfits.

His coms came to life again. "Eagle-1 here, the wounded is aboard and secured, good job sir were going back home, Eagle-1 out."

With a nod Ardal watched the side door of the Bullhead close the craft already doing a gentle U-turn towards Beacon, once the Bullhead was out of view the scroll he got for his first mission dinged, opening it up Ardal watched a message containing a set of coordinate, with a smile the Astartes entered them in his scanner a small arrow pointed him in the right direction, turning in the right direction Ardal went running leaving behind him a green blur.

Ruby was jumping excitedly with a big smile on her face. "Did you see how fast he healed Uncle Qrow?! That was amazing! And disturbing...I'm glad it wasn't really him..." Her declaration was followed by a double hug from her sisters.

Yang smiled at her reassuringly. "Yhea it wasn't cool, I'm just glad Miss Goodwitch clarified it for us...that's a pretty cool Semblance tho whoever it was who did it."

On the side, JNPR were talking among themselves while Weiss was watching the screen with interest. "Well, he might look like a brute but we can't deny that he knows what he's doing."

Next to her, Blake wordlessly nodded reluctantly for once she agreed with a Schnee. 'He could have been useful to the White Fang that's for sure...how many good peoples have we lost because of humans...?'

She was so lost in her thoughts that she did not hear Trivia's TTS asking her a question, the mute pouting cutely snapped her fingers in front of her taking her out of her reverie. "Huh? H-Ho sorry Trivia."

Looking down at the petite mute who rolled her eyes with a smile the question she was asked talked again in the monotone TTS voice. "What do you think of my dad? You've been awfully silent."

Looking around seeing Ruby looking at her with an expectant look and Weiss giving her a side-way interested glance she let out a short nervous laugh. "He seems...nice?"

Trivia stared at her for a minute with her arms crossed over her chest making her squirm under her gaze, then with a shrug and a smile Trivia typed her retort. "Fair enough, I won't bother you anymore."

Walking away she did not see the slumped shoulder and Blake's bow lowering itself on her head. 'Good job Blake...' She was about to call back Trivia when excited cries resonated through the Auditorium, looking back at the screen Blake saw why, Ardal had found the Sphinx and its entourage of Manticore, five in total.

At the view of the bone piles, Ardal's eyes narrowed thankfully most of them were of animals but in it, he spotted a few skulls and too human looking bones, the Sphink sitting on top of it looked down at him with what could be passing as a condescending look, its snake tail hovering around its body while flicking its tongue.

However, the five Manticores who were circling the bone piles were currently roaring at him, the Sphink with a commanding flick of its head pointed at the foolish human who dared enter its domain, this simple movement prompted two of the Manticores to raise in the air their maw opening revealing a black pit of darkness quickly replaced by a bright orange light.

Realizing what was gonna happen Ardal crossed his arms in front of his head the two fireballs impacted him only making him take a step backward, when the steam of the explosion started to dissipate the Grimm saw a pair of blazing red eyes staring at them hatefully through the steam.

A low mechanical laugh raised from the steam with the Astartes walked through it his chainsword in his hand. "Vile beast, you dare attack a son of Vulkan with sacred flames?! You will pay for such blasphemy!"

One of the flying Manticore roared at him before attempting to tackle the large man to the ground to shred him to pieces, Ardal, however, seeing the attack ducked at the last second letting the Manticore fly above him, in a quick motion the chainsword went from silent to roaring louder than the Grimm above him the hand holding it raised it making it cut the Grimm in half covering the Astartes in its black blood when the Grimm landed it stager for a second one of its paw reached for its hanging black intestine as if he was trying to put them back in its body before slumping on the ground dead.

Now covered in black blood with the body behind him dissipating slowly Ardal charged one of the Grimm, the beast answered his challenge, but when he was about to reach him his instinct screamed at him to move, throwing himself backward Ardal watched the second flying Manticore fly by him one of its claw scratch his armor making spark fly from it.

Glancing at his armor Ardal saw a shallow claw mark all across it thankfully his armor was not breached, looking around him the Astartes watched the four remaining Manticores circling him with snarling faces, the Sphinx was content to watch the display with what looked like an amused look on its face.

After a tense standoff, one of the Grimm got impatient and jumped at him, parrying its claws with his chainsaw while keeping its snapping maw at bay, the stinger of the beast came down on his rapidly, thinking quickly Ardal raised a blurred hand who grabbed the tail and with a mighty pull said appendage was thorn of the Manticore body while supplexing it above him its body slamming violently against the one behind him.

The pained cry of the Grimm was masked by the churning teeth of the chainsword mid-swing towards the tangle of limbs the weapon cleaving through the two Grimms like butter, one his radar Ardal spotted the Manticore on his left closing in quickly, with his body still angled forwards Ardal used his momentum to roll away from the danger.

The frustrated growl behind him was silenced by the green armored super-soldier turning into a blur of movement, for one moment the Manticore was just standing there the next it was sent flying with its head caved in with a massive fist mark embedded in it its bone mask completely shattered, its body impacted a tree with a meaty -SMACK- never to rise again.

The last one having realized that charging the Astartes blindly was stupid shot in the air a fireball already flying towards Ardal, narrowing his eyes Ardal let the fire wash over his armor, looking at a display showing that no damage was done to him, Ardal let the circling Manticore shoot at him the flame washing over him like a spirit of death.

Tired of their game in a fluid motion Ardal grabbed his Bolter, raising the mighty weapon one-handed he waited for his aim to calibrate itself on the fast-moving Grimm, after five micro-second his hand snapped to the left a shot barking out of the weapon who was followed by a headless body crashing loudly through the forest.

With the last Manticore now dealt with Ardal focus turned back to the Sphinx which started to gracefully start its descent off his morbid throne, Ardal watched his paw not even disrupting the bones under it.

When the Grimm reached the bottom the two looked at one another in a tense standoff, then the Sphinx did something that surprised Ardal, it bowed its heads in a 'respectful' manner.

When the Sphinx raised its head it looked at him expectantly, realizing what the beast wanted Ardal let out a growl of annoyance before giving his own bow, when he raised his head the Sphinx seeming pleased with itself shot into the air at a speed that took Ardal by surprise.

Looking at the sky Ardal could not see the Grimm, but he could feel that something was off, thankfully Ardal was a veteran of hundreds of battles thanks to his perfectly honed skill the Astartes raised his chainsword to his left just in time for the weapon to impact violently with the Sphinx who contorted its body at the last second to take less damage.

The strength of the collision made him dig his heels into the ground, two small trenches following him, now locked eyes to eyes with the Grimm pushing against him a duel of force raged between the two.

The Grimm who looked like an Elder of his race gave Ardal what seemed to be a bored look the muscles in both their arms bulging, with a roar of defiance coming from Ardal the weapon started to slowly push towards the Grimm to its great surprise.

Seeing the fast-spinning teeth that he was currently trying to keep away from it started getting closer its serpentine tail shot forward toward his neck, seeing that Ardal angled his head letting his helmet take the brunt of the damage breaking one of the serpent's fang, the head hissing in pain at him retracted back.

Now panicking slightly the Sphinx in an impressive show of agility contorted his body while letting his grip on Ardal's hand go the chainsword leaving a shallow cut in its shoulder.

Finally letting a low rumbling growl the Sphinx jumped backward his maw opened in seconds a fireball shot at Ardal, however this time small warning blare at the rapidly approaching heat, realizing that this time the Grimm might very well do damage to his armor even if only minor Ardal jumped sideway the fireball blackening his right pauldron.

The two opponents went back to circling one another both pairs of eyes narrowed at one another to try to find a crack in the other defense.

The mistake came from the Grimm who put too much pressure on his wounded shoulder making it flinch slightly but it was enough for Ardal who in a blur of movement was on the Sphinx, reacting by pure instinct the serpent's tail shot forward its maw open wide, it was its last mistake the chainsword in a loud roar cut the appendage, the snake head trash on the ground for a second before evaporating.

This time the Sphinx let out a loud roar of pain all of his regal prestence forgotten to rush the giant in blind rage and pain, Ardal at the fast charge simply side-step it, his chainsword coming down like an executioner's axe sending the head of the Grimm flying in the sky, the body behind him crashed loudly on the ground leaving behind it a long trail of dirt.

The clearing and Beacon stood still for a moment, no one dared to utter a word, the only sound being the low purr of the satiated chainsword.

Scanning around him and not seeing anyone Ardal approached the bones pile, raising his leg the Astartes gave a mighty kick to it sending the macabre display crashing down, now standing in the middle of the bones Ardal raised his chainsword to the sky while pressing the trigger making the weapon roar in triumph with the sun reflecting on the tip of it, the roar being answered back by the students at Beacon.

Not too long after a Bullhead lowered on the ground its backdoor opened revealing Ozpin smiling at him. "An incredible display of skill Mister Vo'Shan, now why don't we return to Beacon? I know students who would like to talk to you."

A chuckle escaped Ardal, the great man in three steps stood next to Ozpin. "Of course Headmaster, I don't wonder who those students are."

Beacon Academy, Helipad- Late Afternoon

When the door opened Ardal only had the time to take a step out of the craft before getting jumped by a red, yellow, and pink/brown blur. "Ardy!"

Ozpin on the side chuckled at the Astartes' predicament, Trivia had latched herself on his torso like a starfish a big smile on her face while Yang and Ruby were hugging his arms fiercely doing their best imitation of sloths.

"Why hello girls, how are my three favorite Huntresses doing?" Looking up Trivia pouted at him thankfully Yang asked for her. "Why didn't you tell us you will be a teacher at Beacon?!"

"Well, I wanted to surprise you all and at your reaction, I can only assume I have succeded." When the three finally let go of him Ardal spotted the two other girls standing awkwardly in the background.

"Well girls, why don't you introduce your new friends?" Looking back Ruby smiled widdened, in a flurry of rose petals Weiss and Blake were pushed in front of him, the two being dazed for a moment.

"Grampa, I'd like you to meet Weiss Schnee my partner, and Blake Belladonna Yang's partner!" When the two shook their head to get their bearing back they had to look up to finally look at the two red lenses of his helmet.

With a gulp, Weiss did a small bow with her dress. "G-Greeting sir, its-it's a pleasure to meet the 'Giant of Vale'."

Blake gave him a shy wave not daring to look at him in the eyes. "H-Hello sir."

There was silence for a few, a silence that was broken by the laughter of the giant in front of the two who placed a surprisingly gentle hand capable of crushing Grimm like paper on their shoulders. "Do not fear young ones! Friends of my daughter and granddaughters are also my friends!"

A small shiver went down Blake when he touched her. "T-Thank you, professor, hum we-we should go see our dorms guys."

Weiss nodded her head not daring to move, behind her Ruby gasped. "Your right! Come on guys! See you later Ardy!" With one last wave from his charges, the group disappeared in a flurry of petals Weiss's cry of distress was the last thing he heard.

When the girls were gone Ozpin approached him with a smile on his face. "Come Mister Vo'Shan, we have prepared a special room for you."

Chuckling to himself Ardal followed Ozpin. "Headmaster I wanted to ask you, who created the puppet in the forest? It was very life-like."

At that Ozpin sent him a sly look. "Hum? Ho simply a friend of mine with which I had to cash a favor with."

With a pensive sound, Ardal looked at the setting sun. 'This year will be special I can feel it.'

At the bottom of Beacon Cliff, a feminine figure with a duffle bag on her back looked up at the Academy with a smile on her face. "So that's where you're at. Well ready or not here I come!"

The figure disappeared the shine of a ring on her finger being the last thing visible."

Pfiou! That's my longest chapter so far and I'm proud of it.

Well, first I'd like to thank the 220 followers and 168 favorites of this story! You guys are awesome, without you I don't think I'll find the motivation to continue.

I'd give you view statistics for the chapters but fanfiction net kinda pooped itself and stopped a long time ago at 3,869 views so even I don't know how well the chapters are doing XD.

But hey your reviews are enough for me, so again thank you for following Ardal's adventures in the world of RWBY!

I don't have much more to say so unto the reviews!

-I like your work. Here are some stats I have provided for TWBY fanfic plus some more:

A Space Marine can run up to 80-120 miles, and up to 160 miles an hour or 257.5 km per hour at a sprint.

A Space Marine can benchpress 48,400 lbs fyi, the Sons of Vulkan can be 2-7 times stronger than normal marines, do the math.

A Marine can catch bullets going over 1500 meters per second. Appreciate the info! But I'm like REALLY bad at math so I'll just try to not make him too powerful, I mean he will be but I want him to struggle with some of the Grimm and Aura users.

-Ruby BLEW OFF Cinder's ARM! That is gonna put Cinder out of action for a while! Hell yeah! Fuck Cinder! Ruby rule! But more seriously I need to emphasize on the face that a bolter is STRONG I can kind of accept the fact that Cinder can block 50 cal. with her hands because hey Maiden power but not a .75 caliber bolt even less from a Mark III Bolt Sniper Rifle.

-Nice story so far! Keep it up!

... And for the love of the emperor:

Don't. Give. It. Up. Ho snap I got the pressure on me now! But thanks for your kind words my guy!

-Woohoo, the sisters are in Beacon. Interesting to see the new dynamic of team RWBY T. Also a thought, if Ardy is attending Beacon as a resident doctor, would he stay in his armour 24/7, Salamander skin and all, or would he sometimes don a set of sunglasses to hide his eyes. Skin he could probably pass off, hair is easy as he is old, but the eyes? Man needs some shades. Yeah, we're out of the kid arc! And yeah I don't intend to have him in his armor constantly, the shades are a really good idea I did not think of it. Ho if any of you got an idea for the team name I'll take it I couldn't for the life of me find one that would go well with a T in it.

-Very good chapter in its own right, Also I share your opinion in James. At least in Fanfiction, he deserves better. Thank you! I want to try to make Ironwood into a more likable character but I'm still scratching my head about it but I'm sure I'll find out what I will do with him.

-Awesome work please continue. Thank you! I'll do my best!

-Initiation will he interesting not only does Ruby have smite powers she and Yang and Neo are trained by Ardal. Are we getting aroace Ruby? W if so. Weiss joined the cult it's fine they have cookies! Blake probably feels like an ass for calling Ruby a naive child after figuring out she was almost assassinated. Although maybe Blake is going to try and figure out why Ruby was the target of assassins to begin with hm. Well, you asked for it here it is! Hope you will like the initiation, I can't spoil too much of the rest but I will try my best to live up to the expectations of everyone!

I'll see you next time guys have a good one!

Krieg out.
