A New Winter Ch. 02
Bloom found herself staying at Icy's apartment for a little over a week. The witch was kind enough to loan her some clothes. The two now sit at the dinning room table along with Isa.
Icy glances at the fairy before turning to her son. "So, Isa. Bloom has offered to take you to Magix." The boy's eyes widen at that as he makes a gesture.
Bloom turns to him. "Yes, really." the boy tilts his head as he makes a couple more gestures. "You're Mom's been teaching me while I helped her clean. I know enough to watch over you for a while."
Isa turns to his mother to ask something.
"You'll be leaving after breakfast. Now, when you're done, go and brush your teeth," she then gives the boy a knowing smirk. "And if you hurry, maybe she can work a way to take you to Red Fountain," she chuckles as her son asks another question. "Yes, that's where boys go to become Specialists. Hey, slowdown!" she shouts as the boy scarfs down the remainders of his breakfast before running to his room.
Bloom chuckles. "Is he a fan?" she picks up her plate and Isa's to go rinse it off.
"Yeah. He really wants to be a Specialist when he grows up," Icy lets out a sigh as she takes her plate to do the same. "Sometimes I wished I never told him about the Magic Dimension. But it brings a smile to his face," the witch turns to the fairy. "Now, do you remember what I told you?"
The redhead rolls her eyes before listing off, "Don't let him wander off, don't give him anything with nuts, avoid witch hang outs, and have him home for dinner. Stop worrying about it, Icy. I'll take good care of him."
"I'm his mother. It's my job to worry," she tells the fairy before her son walks in. He makes some gestures. "I know you'll be fine. It's just that, I've never been apart from you like this before," she goes up to hug her son. "Mommy loves you. You know that?" then plants a kiss on his for head. "Now, listen to Bloom while you're there and do not leave her sight. Got it?" The boy nods and gestures to her for some reassurance. Icy looks back at Bloom. "Watch him!"
"I will," Bloom says before teleporting herself and Isa out of the apartment.
.oOo.
Bloom has taken Isa nearly all over Magix. The wonder in his eyes, it must have been the same as hers when the fairy first arrived here.
Every time the boy sees someone using magic he had to stop and watch. And each time Bloom could not help but smile and laugh at the sight. Isa stops again and makes some hand gestures to the fairy.
"Ice cream?" the fairy then looks where he points at to see an ice cream cart. "Oh? Yeah let's have some," she grabs his hand as they walk to the cart.
The guy working the cart turns to them. "Ah, customers. What can I get you?"
Bloom turns to Isa and asks, "What would you like, Isa?" she receives some gestures. "Some mint with chocolate chips, is that right?" the fairy receives a nod. "And then I'll have some strawberry for myself."
"One Winter Mint Special for the boy and one Strawberry Surprise for the mother."
"Oh, no. He's not mine," the red head explains. "I'm just watching him for a friend."
The two then continues their walk until Bloom spots a familiar blonde princess and brunette nature lover. "Stella! Flora!" she calls them over as fairy release her hold of Isa's hand to wave at them.
Once Isa's hand is free, he did not plan on going anywhere. But then he sees something through a window. He glances at Bloom and then at her purse.
"Bloom?" Stella rushes over to her with a hug. "I thought you were on Earth?" she asks as they broke away.
Flora catches up with them. "No one's heard from you since you took off. Everyone's been worried."
"Sorry," Bloom moves a strand of hair out of her face. "I just needed some time away from everyone to think about… something. I was staying with a, uh, friend. I mostly came to watch over Isa."
"Who's Isa?" Stella turns to Flora who shrugs in return.
"He's the kid that I'm…" the Fairy of the Dragon Flame turns to the kid only to find him missing. "Isa? Isa!?" turning around, Bloom finds him crossing the street carrying a small bag. Her eyes widen as she sees what he did not and shouts, "Look out!"
The driver of the approaching car slams on their breaks. However, it was too late as they hit Isa before coming to a complete stop.
Bloom is by his side. "No, no, no!" she shakes the kid, receiving no response. "You'll be okay, Isa. You'll be okay," the fairy places her hand on the boys as her hand glow. "What?" the glow fades. "My magic's not working!"
Stella and Flora rushes towards them. "Bloom?" Flora speaks. "Who is this?"
"He's Isa and I was supposed to watch him."
.oOo.
Bloom is now pacing back and forth in a hospital waiting room. Stella and Flora are sitting down near her.
"Bloom!" Stella calls out. "I'm sure everything will be fine. This place has the best doctors in all the Magic Dimension."
Flora agrees. "Take a seat and relax, sweetie."
"You don't understand," Bloom falls into a seat near the girls. "His mom told me not to let him out of my sight."
"Who's the kid's mother anyway?" the Fairy of the Sun files one of her nails. "I'm sure she'll understand."
"She's…" before Bloom could get any further, a doctor approaches them.
"Are you Isa's mom?"
Bloom stands. "His mother isn't on Magix, but I'm the one who was watching him. Is he alright?"
"Sorry, Miss, but I cannot divulge that information unless it's to a relative."
"Please, Doctor? I'm the one responsible for him."
"I can't. If you can just contact his mother and bring her—"
"She's not even in the Magic Dimension!" the redhead shouts. "She's so far out of reach that I'm not sure we'd be able to bring her in, in time. Just tell me how he's doing."
The Doctor sighs. "Alright. We can't do much for him. The impact caused so much damage, that the only way for him to recover is to use magic. However, we've detected that he has been exposed to evil magic from before birth. The only chance of saving him is for the source of it to remove the magic themselves."
"No!" Bloom realizes what this means. "No, no, no! This can't be happening!" she grabs her head as tears drop from her face.
Flora places a hand on her friend's shoulder in an attempt to calm her down. "Hey, Bloom. Calm down. You just need to bring his mom or dad, they might—"
"You don't understand!" the redhead shouts. "Isa doesn't have a dad and his mother had her magic taken from her."
Stella approaches her. "Hey, magic taken can be regained. You know this."
"Except the ritual used stripped her magic permanently. Even then, she's not aloud to set foot in the Magic Dimension, little alone Magix."
"But…" Flora turns to the Sun Fairy, "I thought that they only do that to criminals?"
"They do," Stella confirms. "Bloom, who is that boy's mother?"
Instead of answering, the Dragon Flame Fairy excused herself. "I-I have to make a quick call. She needs to be here," she steps out of the building to call the one person that might help her.
After two rings, a woman's voice answers the phone. "Hello?"
"Faragonda?"
"Why, Bloom?" the fairy's old teacher sounds joyful. "It's nice to hear from one of my favorite students. To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"I screwed up, Faragonda," Bloom chokes on a sob.
"Bloom. What happened?"
"I-I need a favor and I know what I'm about to ask sounds crazy but you're the only one I know that can help."
"Just tell me what you need, dear."
.oOo.
Icy stands in the kitchen, glancing at the clock every few seconds. It was not yet dinner time, but the witch had finished cooking early. She soon finds herself tapping her foot.
Suddenly, a portal opens across from her.
"It's about time," she scolds before anyone stepped through. To the witch's surprise, it was neither her son nor the fairy. It was none other than the Headmistress of that fairy school, Faragonda. Then, comes her former Headmistress, Griffin. It was after them that Bloom steps through looking grim. "What's going on and where's Isa?" the fairy goes to speak, but no words came out of her mouth. "Where's my son?"
Bloom starts tearing up, "I'm so sorry."
Icy's only reply to that is to scream. "What did you do to my son!?"
