It takes nearly a year before Viserys is finally able to board Corlys's ship to journey to Mercia and Rhaenyra. With him is his wife Alicent and cousin Rhaenys. Lord's Strong and Beesbury have been left in charge of the Kingdoms (as joint hand) and Otto has been demoted to Master of Ships (due to his stance that Rhaenyra should be punished/executed for her post-banishment actions as well as Corlys). He doesn't get a warm reception.

There hadn't been a day since he had sent his daughter away that he hadn't regretted the decision. What if Otto had been wrong and that his daughter had actually been harmed rather than having seduced those men? Why hadn't he insisted upon having her protected by her sworn shield, Ser Westerling? Why had he refused to listen to her at all? He wondered sometimes, if he was being punished for his child's fate through the childlessness of his marriage to Alicent. He had often longed to send men to seek out Rhaenyra, to find her and report back as to where she was and how she was over the years but also realized his council would never have approved.

When Corlys spoke up in that council meeting saying that he knew where Rhaenyra was, that he'd spoken with her, had a correspondence with her and that she had her own family, it was a shock to him. Yes, if he was to be entirely honest, he had often prayed to his ancestral Gods that by some chance that Rhaenyra was alive and well with a home and family of her own. However, he also had truly feared that she had perished. Particularly after Syrax had died four years after having been sealed into a cave all alone. That, to him, was an omen that his daughter was dead.

It was no easy feat for a King to choose to make such a long journey so far from his lands but ever since Viserys had learned that his daughter lived, he was determined to do it, no matter the cost. Many of his court and council told him that he must just insist that Rhaenyra return to Westeros with her husband and family but Viserys knew that he couldn't and she wouldn't. The only way for him to ever see her again was for him to go to her and finally learn the truth of what had occurred nearly two decades before.

Since Otto had never stopped demanding that Rhaenyra and Corly be punished, Viserys demoted him to Master of Ships, an area Otto knew little about, and promoted Lords Beesbury and Strong to lead the Kingdoms in his absence.

Alicent had insisted that she accompany her husband on his voyage and, as such, Corlys decided to bring along his own wife, leaving his son to protect his lands.

The voyage, just to the shores of Dover, took nearly six long weeks before they had to switch to a Danish designed vessel to complete their journey in the shallower river waters leading to Mercia. This part took another week before they finally arrived at Lord Uhtred's Mercian estate where Corlys said that Rhaenyra was living with her family.

As they approached the settlement, Viserys couldn't help his look of disgust. It was so primitive. Wooden walls and gates and only a small pier along the river for boats to dock. There was absolutely no way that his spoiled daughter could be happy living in such a place.

Corlys called out to the Watchman on duty, "I'm Corlys of Westeros here with my wife, her cousin and his wife. We are here for trade and to visit with my cousin Nyra. I do have the river toll with me, if we may dock?"

After gaining permission, they docked the boat and Corly's men began to unload it as Corlys paid the toll. He then guided his King, Queen and wife to the village's only Inn, which primarily was there for traveling merchants and traders and arranged rooms for them all.

"Corlys, we are here for my DAUGHTER, why are we staying at an inn? We should be staying in her home," said the King.

"Your Grace, these are simple people, who live in simple homes. Yes, her family does have an alehouse and farm but she also has a large family. Do you honestly expect her and her husband to give up their own bed for you while they are forced to sleep with their animals? This isn't Westeros. Your title means nothing to these people and so, we will stay in the inn," he responded.

Viserys then tried a new tactic, "I'm sure that the Lord of these lands will wish to host me in his keep, Lord Corlys. Perhaps we should go to him now."

Corlys then turned away and rolled his eyes while looking towards his wife. "I'm afraid, my King, that this Lord does not have a Keep, but rather a hall. We can go there as I have actually met Lord Uhtred. Follow me."

Corlys then guided the other three to Lord Uhtred's hall.

"This is it. This is Lord Uhtred, the Lord of these lands, his Hall and home," said Lord Corlys before he asked one of the servants to announce him.

Soon, the doors were opened and the group was ushered inside. A few minutes later, Lord Uhtred decended the stairs.

"Corlys, who have you brought to my Hall?" he inquired.

"This is my wife, the Princess Rhaenys of Westeros," as he wrapped his arm around her waist, "and her cousin, the King of Westeros, King Viserys, who is also Nyra's father, and beside him is his second wife and Nyra's former maid, Queen Alicent. My King thinks he's entitled to board within your Hall or to stay within Sihtric's home."

"Why would I allow your King to stay in my Hall, Corlys? After everything he's done, he should have stayed in Westeros rather than come here as Sihtric, Hell, even Osferth, will wish for the Square so that they might fight and kill him."

Alicent then spoke up, "Listen, you ungrateful heathen, the King of Westeros has done you a great favor by choosing to visit your lands. He, and I as his Queen, deserve to have every luxury afforded to us while we visit."

"And who invited you here? I have not nor would any of my people. You came due to your own desires and so will stay at the inn."

"Yes, we have come due to my husband's desires," said Queen Alicent, "He desires to see for himself that his worthless daughter actually has birthed children and to meet the bastard who has claimed her. I do mean claim as no marriage not blessed by the Seven and by a Septon can ever be considered legitimate."

"What my wife means to say is that, Lord Corly only just informed me about a year ago that my daughter, my only child, has married one of your men and lives on your estate with their children. Its been nearly twenty years since I last saw my daughter and I miss her. Could you take me to her?"

"Your witch has not given you your desired son then? Why haven't you killed her and taken another wife like you did with your first wife?" inquired Uhtred. "As for your daughter, I will speak to her and let her decide if she desires to speak to you. If she does not, I will not make her."

"Could I at least get your word that I might meet all of my grandchildren and their father?" Viserys begged.

"I will not. If Sihtric wishes to speak to you, he will though I do know he does not like you as you hurt his wife. As for the children, it is entirely up to their parents if you get to meet them or not."

Uhtred then left the hall and Corlys guided his group out as well.

"That Heathen was so rude!" exclaimed the Queen. "How dare he treat Royalty with such dismissiveness! Why, he deserves to be punished for his treatment of us."

"My Queen, this isn't Westeros and, as such, cannot order punishment here. What Lord Uhtred said though, is correct and right. We were not invited nor have any power here so we have to accept what we are offered," said Rhaenys, already sick of the Queen's attitude.

The group then headed back to the Inn for the night.
