Chapter 19: A Gym Leader's Fiery Passion! Vs. Gym Leader Flannery!
A few moments after both Team Aqua AND Team Magma left Mt. Chimney, Michael and the girls could finally relax.
Ruby - "Well that just happened..."
Weiss then looked over to see Michael walking over and kneeling in front of the machine Archie and Maxie had put the Meteorite in.
Weiss - "So what now Michael?"
Michael - "You girls go on to Lavaridge Town and make sure that everyone's ok. I'll stay here and try to get the Meteorite out of this machine. Then I'll look for some new Pokémon."
Clair - "Just be careful, ok?"
Michael - "I will. You girls do the same climbing down."
Soon the girls were on their way down the Jagged Pass. Meanwhile, Michael struggled a bit, but he finally got the Meteorite out of the machine. Then after putting the energy filled Meteorite in his backpack, Michael was just about to leave Mt. Chimney's peak as well, when he suddenly heard a cry of help coming from below him. He looked down from the metal platform that Archie and Maxie had made to see where the cry of help was coming from. After a few moments of looking, he finally spotted the source.
Michael - "Well I'll be..."
(The Next Morning)
During the following morning, Michael had gotten up early for breakfast. But instead of doing some last-minute training to make sure he was ready for his gym challenge against Flannery, he was thinking about what Archie said yesterday before he and Maxie led their teams off of Mt. Chimney.
(Insert Music: Ace Attorney Spirits Of Justice OST – Thought Route ~ Resonance Of The Synapses)
Michael - "Let's review the facts. According to Archie, he and Maxie no longer need the Meteorite cause they can now get those orbs. But just what are these orbs that they were talking about?"
Realization suddenly hit Michael.
Michael - "Wait! Back in Granite Cave, I explained to Steven and the girls about how a Red Orb and a Blue Orb were used to try and calm Lady Kyogre and Lord Groudon back, then, but the orbs instead caused them to change into their Primal Forms and go berserk. But now that just leads to two more questions. Where are the orbs being hidden? And just how badly do Archie and Maxie want to find them?"
(Music Ends)
Soon Michael decided to not think about it too much and went back to eating breakfast for the time being. After a few moments, he heard the doors open and turned to see Flannery walk in, followed by two elderly gentlemen.
Flannery - "Morning Michael."
Michael - "Morning Flannery. I see you slept well."
Flannery - "Damn right I did. And boy did I need it after everything that's happened over the last two to three days."
Michael then turned towards the elderly gentleman in the lab coat.
Michael - "Nice to see you again Blaine."
Blaine - "Likewise Michael. Great to see you're doing well."
Michael - "Same to you Blaine. And I'm guessing this is Kabu, Motostoke City's Gym Leader."
Flannery - "And he's also my grandpa."
Michael - "That's fun to know. I'm guessing you're here for more than just to watch me challenge your granddaughter for her gym's badge."
Kabu - "I am actually. Bea and Iono told me last night that they both challenged you to a 1-v-1 battle before your challenges with the gym of their respective type. I was wondering if you'd be ok with a 1-v-1 battle with me as well?"
Michael - "Sure not at all. As long as it's ok with you Flannery."
Flannery - "Sure. And also..."
Flannery then suddenly grabbed Michael's collar and pulled him close, kissing him softly on the lips.
Flannery - "Been waiting a good while to do that~"
Michael - "You naughty girl."
Flannery grins in response while throwing Michael a peace sign. Soon the rest of the girls joined them.
Michael - "Nice to see you girls are fully awake."
Ruby - "Same to you Michael. You find any new Pokémon yesterday?"
Michael - "I did actually. Four of them, in fact."
Weiss - "Four? But the only new Pokémon you could've gotten would be Spoink, which is found on the Jagged Pass."
Michael - "True. But by some stroke of pure luck, just as I was about to leave Mt. Chimney's peak, I found these three."
Michael reached under the table, then felt something tug on his arm. He then pulled his arm out from under the table to reveal...
Flannery - "A pair of Charcadet's AND a Larvesta?! But how did you come across them?"
Michael - "Well. After you girls left the peak yesterday, I stayed behind to get the Meteorite out of the machine Archie and Maxie made. Once that was done, I put the Meteorite in my backpack and was just about to leave. That was when I heard these three calling out for help. So, I quickly brought out Blaziken and Greninja, then had the two of them jump down and save them. Afterwards, we carried them down the Jagged Pass, where I also caught a Spoink and sent him home. Then while you girls were relaxing in the rooms before we had dinner, Blaziken, Greninja, and I entered the Pokémon Center and handed the trio here over to Nurse Joy. I told her that I'll take care of them and fill out the paperwork in the morning. Which I did before the rest of you showed up."
Weiss - "I'm guessing Larvesta's the newest member of your All-Bug Type team?"
Michael - "That's right. I already know she'll be super strong once she evolves into Volcarona. In fact..."
Michael quickly brought out the rest of his All Bug-Type team.
Michael - "Girls. This is Larvesta. Your newest teammate and sibling. Larvesta. This is Ariados, Araquanid, and Frosmoth. I'm expecting the four of you to get to know each other and work together. Think you can do that for me?"
Larvesta - "Not a problem Michael. I won't let you down."
Michael - "Good to hear. And if you're struggling with anything, you can come and tell me. Or one of the others in case I'm not around. Ok?"
Larvesta - "Ok."
Michael - "Alright then. Let's eat, then head over to the gym."
Soon the party, along with Kabu and Blaine, sat down and ate breakfast together. Then once they were all full, the entire party made their way over to the Gym. Michael and Kabu took their respective sides of the battlefield, while the others stayed off to the side. Araquanid stood next to Michael as Audrey took her place in the referee's box.
Audrey - "This is a 1-v-1 battle between Galar Gym Leader Kabu and Michael Masi of Pokémon Island. The battle will continue until either one or both Pokémon are knocked out. Are both sides ready?"
Kabu/Michael - "Ready!"

Battle: Michael Masi (Araquanid (Muscle Band)) Vs. Gym Leader Kabu (Centiskorch (Charcoal))
Kabu - "Go Centiskorch!"
Michael - "Araquanid I choose you!"
Turn #1
Kabu - "Flamethrower!"
Michael - "Poison Liquidation!"
Flamethrower's Current Power: 90/2 = 45 + 22.5 = 67.5 + 13.5 = 81
Poison Jab's Current Power: 80 + 16 = 96
Liquidation's Current Power: 85 + 85 = 170 + 85 = 255 + 127.5 = 382.5
Poison Liquidation's Current Power: 96 + 382.5 = 478.5 x 2 = 957
Kabu watched stunned as his Centiskorch was quickly knocked out in a single hit.
Audrey - "Centiskorch is unable to battle! Araquanid wins!"
Kabu - "Great Pokémon and a great Trainer! It's no surprise that you won!"
(Music Ends)
Michael - "Nice job Araquanid."
Araquanid - "Thanks Michael."
Kabu stood back up after falling to his knees in defeat.
Kabu - "Back in Galar, the trio of Milo, Nessa, and I were considered a major roadblock to everyone that took on our region's gym challenge. But just looking at you Michael, and I can already tell that you'll blast right through us. Anyway. Your turn Flannery."
Kabu returned to the stands as he was replaced by his granddaughter Flannery. Araquanid also did the same and sat next to her fellow Bug-Types.
Flannery - "Welcome... No, wait. Puny Trainer, how good to see you've made it here! I have been entrusted with the... No, wait. I am Flannery, and I'm the Gym Leader here! Uh... Dare not underestimate me, though I've been Gym Leader for only a short time! With skills inherited from my grandfather, I shall, uh...demonstrate the hot moves we have honed on this land."
Michael facepalmed.
Michael - "Well that was terrible..."
Flannery - "Hey I tried ok. Not like you can do better."
Michael then grinned.
Michael - "Alright then. I've come here today to challenge a Gym Leader that has Hoenn's fiery passion. But it seems like her fire has gone out of control. Come, dear Flannery. Let's see if your fiery passion can survive my attempts to douse it!"
Audrey - "This is the Lavaridge Town Gym Battle between Gym Leader Flannery and Challenger Michael Masi of Pokémon Island. The battle will be four vs. all. The battle will continue until all Pokémon on one side are unable to continue. Are both sides ready?"
Flannery/Michael - "Ready!"
Both trainers activated their Battle Disks.

Flannery watched in stunned silence as Swampert tanked the hit, then completely overpowered her Magcargo.
Audrey - "Magcargo is unable to battle! Swampert wins!"
Flannery's Remaining Pokémon: 4 – 1 = 3
Flannery returned Magcargo.
Flannery - "Sorry Magcargo. Our fire just wasn't strong enough. Go Ninetales! And I'll end my Rock Booster too!"
Audrey - "Will you change Pokémon challenger Michael?"
Michael crossed his arms, silently saying no.

Earth Fall Press' Current Power: 12,480/2 = 6,240/2 = 3,120/2 = 1,560
Compared to Magcargo, the match-up wasn't as one sided. But due to Ninetales having a higher Sp. Defense, she was just as easily overpowered.
Audrey - "Ninetales is unable to battle! Swampert wins!"
Flannery's Remaining Pokémon: 3 – 1 = 2
Flannery returned Ninetales.
Flannery - "Sorry Ninetales. Our fire just wasn't strong enough. Go Torkoal!"

Flannery returned Torkoal.

Flannery's Hand: 5 + 1 = 6
Flannery - "Let's my fiery passion bring us victory! Go, Mega Evolution! Appear, Mega Camerupt!"
Michael - "Lady Arceus, hear my plea! Let my bond with Swampert bring the birth of a new power! Go! Mega Evolution! Appear, Mega Swampert!

Earthquake's Current Power: 100 + 50 = 150 x 2 = 300
Waterfall's Current Power: 80 + 40 = 120 x 2 = 240
Body Press' Current Power: 80 x 2 = 160
Earth Fall Press' Current Power: 300 + 240 = 540 + 160 = 700 x 2 = 1,400 x 4 = 5,600
Due to Auto Charge, Mega Camerupt quickly fired off her combo attack. However, to everyone's, including Michael's, pure shock, Mega Swampert outright took the attack, then rushed through it and struck back at Mega Camerupt with his own combo attack, which also knocked Mega Camerupt along the ground. After a few tense moments, Mega Swampert staggered a bit.
Michael - "Swampert!"
Mega Camerupt smirked as she thought she had won. Then, she toppled over, knocked out from the damage Mega Swampert combo attack did to her. Which also caused her Mega Evolution to end.
Audrey - "Camerupt is unable to battle! Swampert wins!"
Flannery - "Oh... I guess I was trying too hard... I... I've only recently become a Gym Leader. I tried too hard to be someone I'm not. I have to do things my natural way. If I don't, my Pokémon will be confused. Thanks for teaching me that. For that, you deserve this."
Flannery's Remaining Pokémon: 1 – 1 = 0
(Music Ends)
Audrey - "All four of Gym Leader Flannery's Pokémon are knocked out. So, the winner is the challenger, Michael Masi!"
Michael - "Alright! Nice job buddy!"
Swampert nodded his thanks for the support. He then slowly followed Michael to meet Flannery and Audrey at midfield.
Flannery - "Well I seriously got my butt handed to me."
Michael - "That's mostly on you for not taking the proper precautions for a challenger like me."
Flannery - "Point taken. Anyway. In accordance with the Pokémon League rules, I award you the Heat Badge."
Flannery held out the badge, which Michael happily took.
Michael - "Alright! Gym Badge Number Four! We just got the Heat Badge!"
Michael and Flannery then rejoined the others, followed by heading over to the Pokémon Center. While Nurse Joy took care of everyone's Pokémon, Michael quickly contacted the Professor to update them on his PokéDex.
Michael - "Hello everyone."
Professor Oak - "Hello Michael. We're all curious to see how the PokéDex has been updated since Mauville City."
Michael - "And I'm happy to show you. But first, I have two more entries to fill first."
Professor Birch - "Which ones?"
Michael - "First off, I was given a Pokémon egg this morning outside the Pokémon Center by an elderly couple. They happily gave me the egg cause they mostly didn't have the resources to take care of it. Then, yesterday evening, I found these three."
Michael slowly revealed Larvesta and both Charcadet.
Professor Juniper - "A Larvesta AND a pair of Charcadet's?! How in the world did you find them?"
Michael quickly explained how he came across the trio yesterday evening.
Professor Rowan - "That's quite the tale."
Professor Sycamore - "So how many Pseudo-Legendary's is that for you right now?"
Michael - "Right now it's three. How's Shelgon doing right now Akira?"
Akira - "She's doing fine the last time Alice and I checked on everyone. In fact, we both believed she's close to evolving into Salamence."
Michael - "Yay! So I'll have four Pseudo-Legendary's by the time I reach the Petalburg City Gym."
Professor Elm - "Professor Juniper. Your region of Unova's Pseudo-Legendary is Volcarona, right?"
Professor Juniper - "No. It's actually Hydreigon. Honestly though, Volcarona should've been considered a Pseudo-Legendary as well. It's pretty strong despite its typing and weaknesses."
Michael - "I second that Professor Juniper. Also, before I forget. Akira. Do you have both armors that allow Charcadet to evolve?"
Akira disappeared from her and Tracie's screen for a sec, then returned a few moments later with a pair of armor chest plates.
Akira - "Here they are big bro."
Michael - "Then send them over to me."
Akira - "Right away!"
Once Akira and Tracie made sure both armor sets were fully together, they sent them over to Michael.
Michael - "Ok you two. You both decide on who gets which armor."
Everyone silently watched as both Charcadet's walked over to the armor sets. After a few moments of deciding, they chose their desired armor and touched it, which caused their bodies to begin to glow. After a few moments, the glowing stopped and revealed two new Pokémon in the place of both Charcadet's.
Michael - "Alright! Both my Charcadet's are now an Armorogue and Ceruledge!"
Michael walked over and crouched in front of the duo.
Michael - "Congrats on evolving you two."
Armorogue - "And thank you as well for allowing us to evolve Michael."
Ceruledge - "Yeah! We'll make sure to hone our skills and get even stronger."
Michael - "I appreciate that. Just don't overwork yourselves, ok?"
Armorogue/Ceruledge - "Sir!"
Michael - "Good. Now then. Time to truly update the professors on the status of my PokéDex."
