Digimon Adventure 04 Chapter 22: Cards Exposed
By Bluestar076
Hello everyone! Bluestar here with a new chapter! We're going further into the climax of this first arc, and this one, in particular, will be important, you'll see why! As I'm writing this, it has been a few months since I updated the last one, so my hopes weren't brought up yet. Still, I hope that before this year ends, I can bring on another chapter, and then, hopefully enough, I'll do my best to get productive again on this story next year! If everything goes well, we'll finally see the end of this first arc! And this one as well since it's one I've planned for quite a long by now! So, without further ado, we can start right from where we stopped last time! I hope you enjoy it!
Note: I do not own Digimon. All rights and characters belong to Bandai and Toei Animation. Also, this is a fantasy story. All references to real people, groups, places, laws, names, and marks are completely casual.
Chapter 22: Cards Exposed
Total darkness. Nothing to be seen, and no one was with her.
Norn was standing in the middle of nothingness in a fetal position with a dull face. As if life was taken away by her body, with only an expression that looked like that of a robot. She wondered where she was, but she didn't even have the energy to think rationally. It was like her heart was ripped out away, leaving only an empty shell.
But then…right at that moment…a light started to shine from her chest. A small light that became blighter before getting out completely from her body.
"Uh?" That light was enough to make her wake up and assume emotions again. She looked around, unable to recognize anything, wondering how did she end up there. But in the end…she didn't matter entirely. Because she knew that she wasn't alone…because that light was there.
After all…she knew that light quite well.
"It's…it's you…" She spoke.
The light didn't say anything. It simply turned at her and came closer, letting Norn gently lay her hands on it.
"You're that light that always follows me in my dreams…does this mean that this is one as well?" The girl wondered. She didn't know why, but ever since she was born…she could always see that light, whenever she closed her eyes or was inside a dream. She had no idea what that was, but all that she could think was…that it was nice to have her around.
"You know…ever since I've met you, I never asked…what are you. Was it for fear? I don't know but…you were always there so…I've started to ask some questions." The girl continued.
Once again, the light didn't make any sound or voice.
"Eheh…true enough. It doesn't make sense to talk to light, but…it simply comes naturally. Maybe it's because of all the times I've seen you." The girl then commented.
Then, at that moment, the light started to fly up and glow brighter, removing all the darkness that was surrounding them.
Norn had to cover her eyes. "Agh! W-Wait! Don't go yet! I still don't know what's going on!" She tried to stop the light, but she couldn't do much. In less than a second, everything was engulfed by the light. Even though it didn't say anything…the girl could understand something in the end.
Maybe she would have received the answers in the future. But not at the moment. Now…it was time to wake up.
And, after that light, everything turned black again. But this time because her eyes were closed. And as soon as she opened it, she started to look around…seeing an unfamiliar place. She could see that she was on top of some skyscraper with large windows that showed most of the city and that she was in some sort of…large office.
"W-Where am I?" She wondered. But it didn't take long for her to remember everything. "Ah! Right! I was monitoring Kyoko and the others' movements…and then Orochimon knocked me out with that gas…"
"F-Friend!" Suddenly, a voice called her out, making her turn in that direction. She could see Culumon wrapped up, unable to move.
"Culumon! Wait for-" As soon as she saw her Digimon friend immobilized, Norn tried to reach her, but she couldn't move as well. "Agh! W-What the!?" She soon found out that she had both her wrists and her ankles wrapped around the chair while also being barefoot.
"Don't worry, lady, nothing will happen to you or her…for now." Another voice told her from behind.
The girl quickly turned around to see Jake behind her with a grin on his face.
"Jake Ambra!"
"I hope that the travel was of your liking. Despite the heads, Orochimon knows how to carry passengers well!" The criminal told her.
"Y-You slimy son of a bitch! Let me go now!" Norn protested as she tried to free herself but to no avail. Jake found the scene of his liking.
"As far as I would love to, I can't afford to do so. Even if we're on the bad side like you people say, we make sure not to make any mistakes." Jake replied.
"It's all right, Jake. You and the others have done your work greatly. You may leave now." Suddenly, another voice echoed through the room, making everyone turn around.
From a door at the end of the office, came out a familiar figure for all of them. The only sight of that person made Norn startle.
Jake, on the other hand, made a smirk. "Sure do, boss. Have fun." With those words, Jake left, and the figure sat on the chair of his desk, looking at the figure with an unsettling smile.
"We finally meet each other. After hearing of your summary, I was eager to see you."
Norn started to agitate, not because she was in a troublesome situation, but because she was right in front of their main threat. The one that was hunting them for the last months.
"Saiba Rei!"
In the meantime, the outside of the Rei Corporation was guarded as usual. It was the time when the building was not accessible to the public, so anyone who could have entered without permission couldn't enter. Still…three detectives and a girl who knew how to enter. Considering that they were going toward the final phase of their case…they had to go inside.
Yuuko, followed by Tsuna, Kouta, and Toriko, came closer to the building while staying hidden behind a bush. While they could have entered easily thanks to their skills and the aid of their Digimon, they tried to come up with an alternative way to get in. If they brought up some action, they would have put the rest of the building in an alarm state. Plus, they were technically in an enemy territory, and going that exposed would have brought a lot of trouble. They needed to be stealthy, even if not all of them liked the idea.
"Great…of all things I've expected to do I never imagined I would have done a mission by acting like Solid Snake!" Tsuna complained.
"I don't think of the same. It could be cool!" Toriko commented while loading the gun. "Besides, it's what we detectives should do, right?"
"That's the point! We're detectives, not spies!" Tsuna retorted.
"Hush!" Kouta tried to call out both of them. "We're trying to go inside without making a fuss. If you shout that much they'll get us before we can even get closer." He scolded them.
Tsuna snorted. "As if we didn't know that."
Once the situation calmed down, Kouta looked at Yuuko. "What should we do? They already have two guards there." He asked.
The girl stared at the scene for a few minutes. No one came in or came out, but the two guards had a watchful look. "Hm…it's them. I know those two bodyguards. They do their job carefully, but as a downside, they're pretty gullible. We can use this to our advantage to sneak in." She spoke.
"What do you suggest? Even if you say they're gullible, I don't think they'll let us in by just walking by." BaoHackmon asked from Kouta's Digivice.
"That is why while we were going here, I promptly prepared something for this!" Yuuko replied all happy before grabbing a suitcase.
"What's that for?" Toriko asked.
"Now that I think of it, you're referring to when you entered inside that shop, right?" Tsuna added, making the girl nod.
"Correct." Yuuko then opened it, revealing three researchers' suits. "These should work as a disguise. They also cost me greatly, so be careful with them!"
At that sight, Tsuna flinched a bit. "Seriously!? Dear lord, this is an infiltration! Just the worst thing someone could ever ask me." He commented.
"Well, what did you expect?" Coredramon asked from the Digivice.
Kouta was looking at the costumes in the meantime. "Are you sure they're gonna work? They're believable, but what if they ask us something like permission or a card?" He then asked the girl.
"No need to worry about that. Even if they are careful, they don't go into details. And remember that you're backed up by me. While the workers here don't know about their boss's hidden intentions, he put good work on all of us and let us move freely inside the building, unless we didn't say anything." Yuuko replied.
"You guys know how to be deceptive, eh?" Tsuna sarcastically asked, making the girl blush.
"I changed at least! And I hope I'm not the only one…"
"You're talking about that blonde chick, right? In that case, you better convince her, or you know we have to make a number on her as well." Tsuna replied.
"Yes…I know that well." Yuuko spoke.
A few minutes was all that they needed to change completely, and just like that, the three young detectives now looked like authentical researchers.
"I have to admit it…these costumes are well made…" Toriko commented while fixing a pair of glasses.
"She did say they were expensive, so the quality is probably compensated with the price. Is everything set in?" Starmon asked from Toriko's Digivice.
"Yes. Remember the plan, we need to check every part of this building to find out what Saiba is planning and possibly cut his energy source. If we succeed, it won't take too much before we can defeat him." Kouta said to everyone.
"Yes!" The others said in unison (while still in a low voice), and with that, they started to move.
Thanks to the disguise, everyone could now walk more freely, and directly approached the building, with the two guards that promptly came closer. At first, they were suspicious, but as soon as they recognized a familiar figure, their attitude changed completely.
"Ah! Miss Yuuko! It's you! We haven't seen you in a while!" One of them said.
"I had a few problems in these days. Something I should address to Mister Rei." Yuuko replied.
"Not problem but…" The other guard looked up and saw Kouta and the others with frowned eyes. "Who are these?"
"They're researchers that wanted to get hired in her. I can assure you they know their stuff. They wanted to have a job interview with Mister Rei, and he always has time for those, right?" Yuuko replied.
The second guard wasn't still entirely convinced. He didn't have a reason to not believe someone who was affiliated with his boss, but he needed to have more insights about them. Therefore, he started to stare at them for some seconds, particularly at Kouta. Yuuko started to sweat a little, fearing that their cover would be blown.
A few moments of silence followed. To sound more credible, Kouta fixed the glasses he was wearing. "Good morning?"
The guard had a few more moments of silence…and then made a surprised face. "Damm! They look like they don't have any idea where they are right now!"
That comment made the three have a drop of sweat fall from their heads in confusion.
"Forgive us, I tend to be a bit suspicious, especially after we got knocked out by that girl two months ago. Remember that?" The guard asked the other one.
"Don't even tell me! She was terrible!" The other guard replied.
"Are they talking about Kyoko?" Kouta thought. But it didn't matter, as the guards moved aside.
"Please, come in."
"Thaaaank you!" Yuuko replied, followed by the others. The first part went smoothly, and finally, they were inside.
As soon as they were in, the three detectives could see how big the building was, with its cylindrical form and a road that led up similar to a spiral.
"Woah…it's huge!" Toriko commented while Kouta came closer.
"So this is where Digivices, gates for the Digital World, and researches about Digimon are made…" He added.
"To think that he made all of this possible through his charisma when something like this would have been impossible over twenty years ago…" BaoHackmon said through the Digivice. "So, how do we move now?" He then asked.
"Saiba's office is on the last floor. Most of the building rooms are offices made for the workers where they develop new products and do research about the Digital World. If there's something that can tell us what Saiba is aiming at and how he plans to use the Perfect Cube, like a few notes or a file in a computer, it's probably nearby him." Yuuko commented.
"Right. Someone would hold closely a thing that would make them reveal to be a criminal mastermind to the whole world, after all! And Saiba isn't surely a distract one." Toriko commented.
"So, we need to reach his office? Seems easier than expected." Tsuna asked.
"Let's not be hasty. There could be people who could look at us with suspicions. It's better if we move carefully." Kouta answered. "I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about it…" He thought.
"All right. Then shall we move?" Toriko asked everyone, who nodded.
The small group started to climb throughout the building while looking around. From the first floor, they could already see how the researchers of the place were all hard workers, devoted to their jobs. From there, they could see how Digivice was made from a closer view.
"Wow…do you think it's the same technology Gennai used to build our parents' ones?" Toriko asked in a low voice.
"Probably. That guy studied for God knows how long. He was really into this thing. Or at least, this is what my mother told me…" Tsuna replied.
"Focus. We can't lose time." Kouta told the two before resuming his walk, which continued in a chill way. They all walked slowly and plausibly to not make suspects rise. It was a pretty tense situation for them, but for the moment, it all looked pretty calm. They hoped it would continue like this for the rest of the walk.
"Shit…this suit is starting to get hot. The last thing I want is to get all sweaty. I wouldn't give a good impression, yet we are still on the first floor! Damm…I'm complaining more than the usual…" Tsuna thought. Then…right at that moment.
"Hey! You there!"
A voice called out to the group. When they all turned around, they could see a group of researchers around a desk that was pointing at one of them: Tsuna.
"W-Who? Me?" Tsuna asked, pointing at himself a bit nervous.
"Yes! We need help here with this Digivice we're building! Can you help us out?" One of the researchers asked.
Naturally, Tsuna tried to divert the situation and get back on the road as soon as possible. "Uhm, I don't think I can be that helpful! I'm going for a job interview! Maybe it's best if you search for someone more worthy, ahah!" He spoke.
"Really? Man, the other ones are busy. Ok then! Keep going!" The researcher answered.
One of them was a girl with blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, blue eyes, and a pair of glasses. "Man…a help would be needed…" She asked with a sad tone.
At the sight of that girl, Tsuna started to feel all red and make a small nervous smile. "T-Though giving a shot would not be so bad…" Without noticing it, he started to walk towards that group, but someone reminded him of what to do.
"TSUNA!" Coredramon shouted out from the Digivice, stunning the boy.
"AGH! My ear! Fine, fine…I'll keep going." Tsuna said. When he turned around, he could see the others who were skeptically looking at him. "What?"
"Simp." Everyone said with a bit of disgusted tone.
"NO, I'M NOT!" Tsuna retorted, embarrassed before scoffing. "Geez. Let's just keep moving, okay?"
After that small distraction, they were able to reach out to the second floor, where the researchers worked on new ways to create portals for the Digital World and study directly to the Digimon. The Chosen Children could see Digimon standing at various tables while the researchers were made and cringed a little.
"Eugh! Don't tell me this is how Saiba takes their energy! I wouldn't do that even if they paid me 200,000 dollars!" Coredramon commented.
"I don't think that's the case. Plus, they seem quite calm and comfortable from those positions…" Kouta answered, looking at a group that was working on a KoKabuterimon.
"That's right. These are normal researches the employers conduct to test the capacities and skills of an individual Digimon. These Digimon that you see here came on their own will. The ones Saiba uses to gather energy for the Perfect Cube are elsewhere…I saw them." Yuuko said, making the others curious.
"Where are they?" Starmon asked.
"In his office, he has a hidden room where all the Digimon we caught are taken. They're all connected to a machine that gathers their energy." Yuuko replied.
That answer made everyone widen their eyes.
"Jackpot! So you're saying that if we destroy it, we should be able to cut off his energy, am I right? If we do that, all that will be left to do is to defeat him and his mercenaries and then deactivate the barrier in the government skyscraper at Somnus, right?" Toriko said, all excited.
"Why didn't you say it before?" Tsuna asked.
At that question, Yuuko looked down a bit ashamed. "Well…the Digimon we caught were taken in there. I am…partly to blame for that. I feel a bit ashamed for it."
"Hmm. Well, you're here to help us. This means that you can save them as well, if we manage to wreck that room, right?" Tsuna told her. That comment made her feel already better.
"Do you perhaps know if, in that room, there's something that could help us understand what his goal is?" Kouta asked.
"No, the only things that are inside here are the encaptivated Digimon and the machine that connects all the capsules. But I suspect that there's something that's probably nearby." Yuuko replied.
"Well, the goal remains the last floor then, and we're on a good road. Nothing happened at the moment yet." BaoHackmon thought.
"…BaoHackmon, please do not bring bad luck-" Toriko said, superstitious as he was.
"Sorry-" The Digimon replied.
With all that in mind, they continued their road, getting closer to the third floor. While passing by, Kouta could hear a discussion between two researchers.
"Have you noticed that Mister Saiba has been a bit…nervous, recently?"
"Yeah, he also spends fewer words with us. He seems more concerned about what we are doing and spends more time in his office. I mean…sure, as the CEO of the corporation, he's surely busy but…he's different now."
"What do you think happened?"
"I've tried to ask him once, and he said he was tired because he was working on a great new project. I've asked him what was that about and he said it was a secret."
"Well…knowing him, it surely must be big. You know how much he cares about his progression, especially when he talks about 'helping the country.'"
Kouta looked at them in silence from afar and sighed, a bit sad for them. They seemed concerned about their boss. If they knew what he was doing, who knew how would they have reacted? That thought was what made the boy sad. He then moved on, leaving them to their questions.
The group reached out to the third floor, which was mostly the floor for the secretaries and the switchboards. That was where all contacts and requests for the corporation were taken, with many people on the tables, ready to answer the calls.
Looking up, Toriko could see an air conditioner tube that seemed damaged. "Did Kyoko do that?" He thought. But he didn't have time for those questions and followed the others.
Even if at first, it all seemed normal, that floor turned out to be the most pressing one of them all for a simple reason: the eyes. There were a lot of people in there and as such, a lot of eyes could have seen them, increasing the probability of someone that could have recognized them as someone external, thus ruining the whole infiltration. Their breaths started to get heavy, and their fronts started to sweat as they proceeded more carefully.
"ACHOO!"
That noise made everyone startle, but as soon as they turned around, they could see that it was one of the employees who sneezed.
"Ack…I shouldn't have been in vest yesterday…" the man commented before looking back at his computer.
Everyone could take a breath of relief as they moved on. "Come on…we should be close…" Yuuko said.
"I see the road that leads to high…" Tsuna added. It was there, right in front of them. All they had to do was to come closer, make that road, and reach the fourth floor, where the answers they were looking for lay. Just a few more steps, and right at that moment…
"Uh?" One of the employees, a girl with glasses and green wavy hair noticed them and came closer to look at them.
Internal panic. The four people looked at her while standing still, trying to act as naturally as possible. Much like the guard at the entrance, the girl looked at them for a couple of seconds in silence.
"Are you…new?" She asked.
"Not yet. We're trying to make a job interview." Tsuna promptly replied with an unnatural deep voice. The others were surprised but tried to not let it notice.
The girl looked at him for a bit more and then made a comforting smile. "Fair enough. I was a bit confused. Sorry for that!" With those words, she left and returned to her position. The group could take a breath of relief. Once again, that was close.
"Where did that voice come from, Tsuna?" Toriko asked.
"Well, I've tried to emulate the voices from the movie trailers through time and this came out. It gives me a cool vibe, don't you think?" Tsuna asked with a smug smile.
"Sort of. What matters is that it worked. We can move on." Kouta replied a bit skeptical.
"I complained a bit about infiltration, but it turned out I can do something! I should do it more often, he he!" Tsuna thought as they moved on.
And then they reached the fourth floor of the building of the Rei Corporation. The next one would have been the last. From then on, every action they made could have been crucial. Though a first sight made them sweat again.
While empty, the fourth floor seemed to consist of a long corridor that went for a single road, with one door in the middle and the next staircase.
"Gosh, guess that a long road awaits us…" Toriko commented.
"It would have been easier if we used the elevator…I could see one." Tsuna complained.
"I know, but there are other people that use it, and there are not many here that reach out to the last floor of the building. We could have grown up more suspects about ourselves." Yuuko replied.
"Before we go, we might need to think carefully about what to do now…" Starmon then said.
"Starmon's right. Saiba is probably in there. And if we approach him directly, we may have to face both him and his Digimon partner." Kouta added.
"Well, that was also part of our plan. We've been trying to find out the identity of the HADES entity, right?"
"True. But we've been told of his potential strength. He was able to defeat Agumon, after all. Which means that it won't be an easy opponent." Kouta commented.
"Right. We had the suspects that it could be an Ultimate-Level Digimon." Tsuna added.
"An adding reason to act carefully…but what to do, then?" Coredramon then asked.
"Leave it to me before you go in." Yuuko proposed.
"Are you sure, Yuuko?" Tsuna asked.
"Yes. Maybe he already knows that I've gotten defeated, but he still doesn't know that I don't intend to work with him anymore. If he sees me again, he may be relieved and I could distract him by saying something. That is when you can take advantage of it. While I talk with him and try to get him out of that office, go in there and find everything that is needed." The girl continued.
"And wreck that machine! I can't wait to see his face when it happens!" Tsuna exclaimed, all excited.
"But are you sure it will work? We all know Saiba, it's not someone to be deceived that easily." Kouta asked to be sure.
"True. But you know that I can put up a good speech if well motivated!" Yuuko said with a wink.
"And if anything happens, don't forget that I'm also here!" GeoGreymon said from her Digivice.
"She's a bit weird when she acts like that…" Toriko commented. "Well…if that's all then we could-" He and the others were ready to move, but right at that moment…
"YUUKO!"
Everyone raised their heads in panic as soon as they heard that voice. When they did so, both Tsuna and Yuuko could see a familiar figure.
"It's her!" Daisuke's son said, feeling a bit angry.
Nui was running fast as soon as she saw the girl in the distance, and once she was there, she jumped at her, giving her a big hug. "Oh, I'm so glad you're safe! You've been missing for a few days and I thought those of the Cheshire Cat Agency got you, but you're still in one piece!" She exclaimed.
Yuuko felt a bit tight for that hug, but it was something she got used to through time, so she was able to answer. "I-I'm happy to see you, too Nui. It was just a small accident, nothing more."
"Oh, don't worry about that, I can listen to all types of stories! What matters is that you're still here! I wouldn't know what to do without you!" The other girl continued. She then noticed the three boys behind her. "Hm? Who are these guys?" She asked.
Tsuna tried his best to keep himself from attacking her. Through all this time, he wasn't able to settle the score with her. "This bitch!"
"I thought that all mercenaries were scattered around to get more Digimon, what is she doing here!?" Kouta thought.
"These are simple researchers who wanted to talk with Saiba for a job interview. Is he here at the moment?" Yuuko answered with another question, making the girl nod.
"Oh yes! He's talking with someone at the moment! You won't believe what happened just a few moments ago!" Nui replied.
Yuuko and the others were naturally confused. "What happened?" The girl asked.
"Jake, David, Aleksi, and Sigmund came back from the mission they were assigned for today! They had to catch that girl who cooperates with the Cheshire Cat Agency! What was her name…? Oh, right! Norn Mikihara!" Nui replied with a naïve tone.
Their hearts sank as soon as they heard that name. They had worried expressions on their face, but the three boys tried to not show it too much, especially in front of an enemy.
"W-What!? They took her!?" Yuuko exclaimed. Naturally, Nui seemed confused by that reaction.
"Are…you ok, Yuuko?"
Yuuko noticed that she let concern slip off and tried to regain herself. "Y-Yes, sure. I was a bit surprised if anything. Why did he want to get her?" She then asked.
"Oh, well, he said something about a power she showed a while ago, something that could help us in the plan. Aren't you glad? A bit more and we'll have achieved our goal! He said that even if we didn't get rid of those detectives he would have paid us for the job we had done with the Digimon, which means that you'll be able to help your mother soon!" Nui replied. She then pointed at the three researchers. "And of course, nothing that you heard here must go outside these walls…got it?" She asked with a creepy smile.
Pretending to be intimidated, the three detectives nodded.
Yuuko had a few moments of silence for that, as she looked down. Indeed, she never knew about what she was able to do, or the fact that she had defected from Saiba's service. If she wanted, she could have attacked her to open the road for herself and the others.
But…she couldn't do that. Even if at the moment, they were on different sides, she was still her friend. Therefore, she wanted that spark of hope that could have allowed her to convince her to join her side.
"About that…Nui…there's something I've wanted to tell you." Yuuko started.
"Uh? What is it?" Nui asked.
"…We are friends…right? And that day, when we were kids, you said that you would have followed me whenever I would have gone, right?" Yuuko started.
The other girl nodded. "Hm! I've joined Saiba to help you after all! We're trying to save Mistress Chitose!"
"Eheh…right. So…if I were…to change my mind and abandon all of this…would you be there to follow me?" Yuuko then asked, starting to take out the main topic.
Naturally, the other girl was confused by this. "Uh? What do you mean?"
"…What if I say that…I'm starting to regret all of this. I mean…we've been trying to help my mother by earning money but…we've still done some terrible things. Some of the Digimon inside that chamber…are there because of us. Don't you feel like…we have gone too far?" Yuuko continued. The three detectives looked at the scene carefully, waiting to see how the scene evolved and if to act whenever everything went wrong.
"What do you mean we went too far!? We're almost there! Saiba has almost completed the Perfect Cube and he'll pay us! We've been working for months about this, and now you're saying that you want to throw it all away!? We're talking about Mistress Chitose here! You know that your father won't listen! Didn't you say that you would have done anything to help her? Now we're almost there!" Nui protested, not understanding.
Yuuko flinched for a moment about that. It was true, they were there for that purpose. But…she also had an examination conscience about it. And through Yatsura and the others' help, she could see the error. At the same time, she loved Nui for everything she had done over the years. She had to give her that chance as well.
"…That's the point. Things have changed…"
"A-Ah…" Norn's front was swearing, as her eyes met up directly with the man. It was him. The man behind all the terrible actions that were aimed at her new friends. It was strange indeed. For the past months, they tried to track that man down and stop him once and for all. But now…he was the one who went for them. He did so, but now…it was more direct. But the thing that perplexed Norn the most was…
Of all people…why her?
The girl looked around. After Jake left, no one was there apart from her, Culumon, who was tied up just like her, and him. Even though, she could feel an ominous presence surrounding the hall.
Saiba looked at her for a few moments in silence and then stood up, coming closer. "I apologize for the hasty and rough treatment you have been given. But I can assure you that you're here just for a simple chit-chat." He spoke before doing something she didn't expect.
He…untied her.
Norn could feel herself free again. "…Are you going to untie Culumon, too?" She asked.
"Not yet. I want to make sure to have your complete attention for this." Saiba replied. And that answer was enough for Norn to glare at him with despise and distrust.
"What attention could you ever possibly take for me after all you did!? Don't think I don't know of your actions!" She protested.
At that moment…a dark aura came out from behind Saiba. Norn could feel it again. The presence now sounded more threatening.
"N-Norn…" Culumon whispered, scared.
"Ngh!" Norn could feel her blood freeze out for a moment. "Is that his Digimon…?"
"I always make sure to treat my guests in the best way possible. But that is…as long as they respect my rules. I'm pretty sure you know what will happen if you keep on with this attitude. And you surely know…I'm not new at necessary murders." Saiba said before getting back in his chair. "Now…as I was saying…how about we have a little talk, Norn Mikihara?"
Even after that threat, Norn tried to remain on the defensive. But she knew she couldn't do much. She didn't know what Saiba had prepared for it. She learned to know that he was a man ready for every eventuality. And she couldn't defend herself like one of the agencies. She needed to think carefully. And for now…the best she could do…was to listen to him.
"…What do you want for me?" She asked.
"I'm here to explain it to you. But one thing at a time. Considering your affiliation with the Cheshire Cat Agency I'm sure you're aware of my recent actions and… 'traffics.'" Saiba started.
"About how you've started to kidnap several Digimon and steal their energy to create some sort of source of power between one murder and another while trying to assassinate the members of the Cheshire Cat Agency? Yeah, I'm familiar with that." Norn said with a cold tone.
Saiba looked at her carefully. "I can understand how you're feeling right now. I'm sure you and your friends consider me the 'bad guy'. And I don't blame you for that. But just so you know…things can change from one perspective to another. My actions may not be good for you or legally correct. But I can assure you…that I'm trying to do things…for a greater good."
"How so?" Norn asked.
"Over twenty-nine years ago, back in 1996. I was among the many children who witnessed the struggle between Greymon and Parrotmon in Hikarigaoka. Around that time, I started to wonder if there was some sort of…special help that could have aided me in my innocent dream. And that night…I've had my answers. That was the first time humanity had some sort of knowledge of the existence of Digimon. As time went on, their presence kept on unifying with ours. Many incidents and battles occurred. I've got the chance to know these creatures further and further. Until our two populations inevitably merged. I've made sure that their existence and presence in our world wouldn't have been a bother for the rest of humanity, and as such, I've made the harmony between humans and Digimon possible. With that step, my deeper projects could have been started." Saiba continued to explain.
"You're saying that you made Digimon and humans coexist just so that you could use them? Absurd…you are more…sick than I thought." Norn commented.
"Well…yes and no. While I did make sure that humans could accept Digimon for the sake of my plans, there was a side of me that felt pity for them. I have a Digimon partner as well, and it saddened me the fact that our kind saw them as monsters for many years all because of the actions of malevolent Digimon. But on that side…we're not that different from them. After all…killing each other and causing havoc only to get power is what we humans can do the best. Even in cases like this. Yukio Oikawa and Menoa Bellucci are clear examples of that. But I'm diverging. In the end…I was able to have the possibility to explore Digimon more deeply thanks to our harmony and thanks to my Rei Corporation. I could finally get a chance…to exploit those powers to chase further my goals." Saiba replied.
"By capturing them and absorbing their powers!? Don't these things put you on the same level as those people you mentioned!?" Norn asked.
"Norn…?" Culumon was watching in the meantime.
"At first…someone may say that. But this is where we differ. Oikawa and Bellucci tried to use Digimon and the Digital World for their selfish purposes. Even if they were fully grown-ups, they've tried to chase down a dream of when they were children that they were supposed to leave behind. But…I'm different. I'm using Digimon and their energies…" As he kept on explaining, Saiba raised his index finger and pointed at Norn.
"For you."
"Uh?" Norn mumbled.
"What?" Culumon asked.
"Me?" The girl then asked.
"You…and everyone else that lives in this country." Saiba continued. "To make you understand better…take a look at the table."
Norn looked down and could see them. "Three…tissues?"
"Let me ask you a question. Among these three issues…which one is the correct one to pick up when you sit at a table?" Saiba then asked.
Norn looked at them in silence for a few moments.
"You need help?" Culumon asked.
But Norn didn't answer. She looked at them for a few seconds…but she couldn't bring herself to answer. She shook her head. "I…don't know."
Saiba made a small grin. "That's what I've wanted to hear. The right answer is…whenever the tissue is fine. As long as you are the first one to take it."
Norn was left even more confused. "What do you mean?"
"When you pick up your tissue, you inevitably choose all the others who are sitting at the table. Now…Imagine this country, The United States of America, as one big table with several tissues. Whoever picks up the first one, decides for the other…"
Norn stood there to think for a few moments and then…
"Ah! Wait…you won't mean…" She said with a quiet voice.
Saiba's grin grew bigger. "That's right." He then stood up. "Ever since I was a kid, and upon the first day that I started to work on the progress regarding Digimon and the Digital World, my mind had been set on one sole thing: patriotism."
"Patriotism? A-Are you serious?" Norn asked. Slowly…she was starting to understand his true colors. It was incredible how he was seemingly exposing himself.
"I've never been more serious, Norn Mikihara. Giving yourself for the sake of your country is the best thing a human being could do. Defend their home, and their sense of property, and fight for it. This was what I dedicated myself to. Even if I'm not fully American…I can still sense it. The desire to serve this grand country. The desire that was shared by millions of people ever since George Washington fought for independence in the 18th century. This…is what brought me to do this. This is what made me kidnap all those Digimon and use them for the creation of the Perfect Cube." Saiba explained. "All those Digimon, the people that got killed in the process, the mercenaries I've hired to assist me, and even the Cheshire Cat Agency you're willing to defend…they were all simple means. Tools to use to reach the grand scheme of things." He then released the dark aura around him.
"Aaaaah! What is that!?" Culumon exclaimed.
Norn widened her eyes. This time the presence was more evident…as red glowing eyes were staring at her.
"My Digimon is surely strong. He could be considered a deity among the other Digimon. But we could both realize that he still cannot do something global." Saiba spoke.
"G-Global?" Norn asked.
"That is where the Perfect Cube takes its role. The amount of energy that I've gathered by taking it from other Digimon was to create a source of power that my partner could absorb." Saiba replied. "The power of darkness is stronger and wider than most people think. One Digimon that has it at its maximum power could influence the entire world. That is what I'm planning to do. The Perfect Cube is close to completion. And once it is ready…my partner will absorb it to become even more powerful. He will then spread his influence over the globe, so that all mankind, especially the other governments of this world, will know that there's someone powerful enough to take them down with one blast."
"What!?" Norn exclaimed.
"It will be quite refreshing actually. I've always wanted to impose some presence of mine over these mortals…" Saiba's Digimon commented.
"And while this will happen, I'll candidate myself for the next American presidential elections for 2040. My knowledge of politics and technology, my charisma, my actions in the past, and the aid of an all-powerful Digimon will assure me a seat in the White House. And when that happens…I'll make sure to bring this whole country to the next level…make sure that everyone lives in the best way possible. I'll show everyone how big my devotion to them is." Saiba continued.
That was it. At last, even if through some bizarre conditions…Norn knew it. She hoped to stay alive until she would have been able to reach out to her friends one way or another. Because now…she finally knew it. And that was enough to make her eyes tremble in bewilderment.
"In short…I intend to use the Perfect Cube to make the United States of America the strongest country in the world again with me at command. We'll finally have the supremacy back. I'll make America great again." Saiba concluded, revealing his goal at last. His true intentions.
"And I'll make sure that all mortals will finally have some respect out of who's stronger…including gods. Such as me…" His Digimon added.
"I-I don't know what are they saying, but one thing is sure! THESE GUYS ARE CRAZY!" Culumon thought.
"A-Absurd…" Norn commented, still shocked. "But…what role do I have in all of this!? What role does the Cheshire Cat Agency have!? Why did you target them!?" She then asked.
"It surprises me that you ask me this. When it comes to the Cheshire Cat Agency, the answer is obvious. Due to the inattention of one of my followers, they found out about my kidnappings of Digimon. Naturally, as an order force, they could have represented trouble. Wouldn't want any eyewitness reports complicating the message, right? Especially if they are the offspring of the original Chosen Children group. But they turned out to be more stubborn and stronger than I expected. At first, I saw them as a test to see if my actions were right. But now I could see that I was wrong. Of the thirty mercenaries I've hired to take care of them, only eight are left. Now that the Perfect Cube is almost complete, I cannot afford to make them step any further. As for you…you may know the answer for yourself." Saiba replied.
"What do you mean?" Norn asked.
"A while ago, you were involved in the battle between one detective of the Cheshire Cat Agency and one of my mercenaries, Mario Gemini. And during the fight, you've released…a certain power. Similar to the one Homeostasis had." Saiba Rei said.
Norn was startled as soon as he said that. "You…you know?"
"I have a certain network when it comes to this type of thing. Now…may I know what is that power? Are you perhaps connected to someone I should know belonging to the Digital World?" The man then asked.
Norn remained silent for a few moments before giving her answer. "I…I don't know. I had it ever since I was born. Not even my parents know about it. And…it happens only when I'm flustered or panicked."
"Is that so?" Saiba asked, surprised. "…Oh well. Not that it matters. What matters…is that you dispose of a power like that. It may be just what I need to complete the Perfect Cube."
"What!?" Norn exclaimed.
"Why else would I have you get here? But, don't act hasty. I'm giving you a possibility. I can see that you are smarter than someone might think, Norn Mikihara. And I need someone like you at my side. All I ask you…is for your cooperation." Saiba answered.
"Again with this word…" Norn commented.
"Yes. Think about it. You could be among one of those people who helped make this country a better place. You could bring America to the next level. All you need to do…is join me…and use the power you have to complete the Perfect Cube. I'll assure you the best status and the best things you could ever ask for." As he said those words, Saiba went beside Norn and leaned a hand over her shoulder. "Imagine all the progress you could make. If I manage to become president in 2040, and it's a thing I'll make sure to happen, I may put you right next to me. You could be…the vice president of this country. We could get the decisions to help this country together." He then went back and extended his arm, hoping for Norn to shake it.
Norn looked at the arm in silence, with an expression between confusion and fear.
"What do you say, Norn? Think carefully about it..." Saiba asked.
"Norn…?" Culumon asked. Saiba's Digimon stood in silence and simply observed.
"If you accept, I might take into consideration the idea of making my mercenaries stop hunting down the members of the Cheshire Cat Agency. You could save your friends." Saiba added.
Norn looked at the hand in silence for a few seconds. Was it really the right choice?
Maybe…maybe it was. In the past, Saiba proved himself to be a man with sincere intentions. If humans and Digimon were living together, it wasn't only thanks to the Chosen Children. It was also thanks to him. Maybe he was the ideal person to guide the country.
But in the end…even if she thought of it carefully…she knew what answer to give.
She extended the arm a bit, not yet to shake it.
"Hm?" Saiba looked at her.
"…You know, Saiba Rei…ever since I was a little girl…I've always looked up to people like you. People who made important steps in humanity's history…people who kept on fighting until they reached what they wanted, so the world could have been a better place to live. Because of that, I've respected people such as policemen, soldiers…detectives…like my father, Aisu, and the others. Even researchers. All of them are people who are willing to put themselves in line to make sure everyone else lives okay. Compared to them…it's not like I'm something this important. I don't even know where this power I have comes from. But…"
She then made a gentle smile. "If I had the chance to help out other people like the others do…I would do it without hesitating…" Then, like nothing, she made a cold glare directly at him. "But…this is not the way I want to do so."
"What?" Saiba Rei asked, confused.
Then…Norn did the unexpected. She moved her sleeve a bit to show a knife she quickly grabbed…and used it to slice Saiba's throat.
"GAAAAH!" The man looked with bewilderment and horror as the girl wounded him with a cut knife.
"Someone like you who uses others and makes them suffer for his own goals cannot be considered a good person!" Norn exclaimed. She knew that this was a crazy action. But she still needed and wanted to do something now that she had the chance. She wasn't going to follow it.
"Norn!" Culumon exclaimed, as the girl quickly ran towards her to cut the rope and free her. As soon as she could move again. Culumon widened her ears and flew up around her.
"GRRRR!" Saiba in the meantime was gritting his teeth for the pain and the frustration as he held the cut with his hands, whose gloves started to become red for the blood. "So, this is your answer, Norn!? Fine…don't say I didn't warn you! Kill them!" He then ordered his Digimon to take them down.
The Digimon became physical, while his appearance was still covered in shadows, and quickly flew towards the two of them, aiming to kill them.
"STAY BACK!" Even if it was suicidal, Culumon flew right in front of Norn to defend her.
"Culumon, No!" Norn exclaimed. But right at that moment, the power inside of her activated, releasing a wide azure light that blinded Saiba's Digimon.
"ARGH!"
"NGH! That light!" Saiba exclaimed.
"Is this…?" Norn asked. But the most peculiar change was in Culumon, whose body started to shine.
"I'm feeling myself full of energy! Oh my God, It's happening!" As she was surrounded by energy…her body started to transform.
"CULUMON! EVOLUTION!" Culumon's body changed through evolution, becoming an anthropomorphic bunny with a silver mask, black gloves, and azure protrusions that were attached to her back. "LEKISMON!"
Norn was surprised by that. "Culumon! You…evolved?"
Lekismon was surprised as well, but she didn't lose time and summoned several arrows from the protrusions to shoot them at Saiba's Digimon. "Tear's Arrow!"
"What!? NGHHHH!" Not expecting it, Saiba's Digimon ended up getting hit by those arrows made out of energy. While they didn't represent serious trouble, they did force him to recoil in pain, due to them being attacks of light.
"Quick! Let's go now!" Norn exclaimed. Without thinking twice, the girl and the Digimon took advantage of the enemies' temporary invalidity and escaped from the office. They couldn't afford to use the elevator, since it would have taken too much time, so they went down the stairs. Norn didn't know if she would have gotten there without a wound of some sort, considering that she was barefoot, but all that mattered was that she could have escaped and warned the others. Ironically, she ended up getting the most important clue.
"GRRRR…Let's chase them!" Saiba exclaimed, full of rage, as he kept on holding his wound.
"Are you serious!? With that wound?" His Digimon asked.
"We can't afford to lose her now that we have her in our hands. I'll complete the Perfect Cube, no matter what, even if I have to take out that power, even if I have to kill her!" Saiba insisted. His Digimon didn't find anything to protest in the end, so, Saiba grabbed his gun and started to run towards the stairs as well. He used a piece of his coat to swaddle the wound of his neck and went down as fast as possible.
"I'm so close to the completion of my purpose, I won't let anyone ruin everything right now!"
"ANF ANF ANF ANF…"
Norn and Lekismon were running as fast as they could. They were able to make a few steps below Saiba's office.
"Hey, what are you-" A few of the researchers who worked there spotted them, but Norn didn't have the time to care about them, so she ran forward, even if it meant pushing them away. "GET AWAY!"
"AGH!"
"ANF ANF ANF! Come on, legs, don't abandon me right now!" The girl commented as she kept on running.
"Come on, Norn! The buildings didn't have that many floors! If we keep up with this pace, I'm sure we'll reach the exit in no time!" Lekismon said, trying to comfort her.
"Anf…thanks, Lekismon. I didn't know you could evolve! Does that mean…you're my partner?" The girl then asked while keeping on running.
"I don't know yet! But as long as I keep this evolved form, It's fine by me!" Lekismon replied.
"Nice answer- UH!?" Norn's attention then got caught by noises from behind.
"Mister Saiba-?"
"GET OUT!"
Even if he was a floor away from her, Saiba was getting closer. She needed to hurry up. "He's getting closer!"
"Want to hop on my back?" Lekismon then asked.
"Are you sure?" The other girl demanded.
"It's alright! I feel a lot more agile with this evolution! I'll make sure to get faster even with you! Jump in!" The Digimon assured.
That was enough to make Norn nod and get on her back. The Digimon started to move faster, and so, they kept on moving down.
And after a while…they could hear some familiar voices. "Uh? Wait a second…are those…?"
In the meantime, Yuuko and Nui were continuing their discussion, while the three detectives were standing there, ready for every eventuality.
"What do you mean you don't feel like doing this anymore!? It was your idea! We did this to save your mother, and now that we're so close, you want to abandon everything!?" Nui exclaimed.
"Don't you see, Nui!? Look at what've done with all those Digimon! They had suffered because of us and for what Saiba is doing! The idea that we've done so much pain because of a wish of mine done in the wrong way is simply too big for me to bear! I know that between the two of us, you've always been the most violent one but…don't you think we've made too much? I…I could see it…and I could admit it. This was all a huge mistake…and I'll probably have to pay for it." Yuuko replied.
"Pay for it!? What do you mean to pay for it!? Are you telling me you want to deliver yourself!? Yuuko, you can't be serious!" Nui protested.
"You heard what I said. And…I wish you could do the same. Saiba had been using us for the wrong purposes. Even if I would end up in jail because of this…I don't want to go away knowing that I left you with them. You're my friend, right? If so…please…follow me. And reconsider what we had done up until now. I want to clean myself out of my sins…" Yuuko continued, showing a regretted tone.
Even if she seemed sincere, Nui didn't want to believe her at first, so she took a few steps back. "You're…you're not acting normal. I-I know there's something wrong! C-Come on! You can tell me what's happening! We're best friends right?" She spoke. But right at that moment, something diverted her attention and made her turn around. What she saw shocked her. "Uh!?"
"What the…" Even Kouta and the others looked in that direction.
Norn was running fast until she stopped herself after seeing everyone else in there. "Anf…anf…I was right! You're here!" She spoke.
"Norn!" Toriko exclaimed.
"You're ok!" Kouta added.
"You escaped!?" Nui exclaimed as well before noticing something and turning to the three supposed researchers. "Wait, how do you know her name?"
"Shit, there goes our coverage…" Tsuna commented.
"NUI! DON'T LET HER ESCAPE!" Saiba's voice could be heard from the other side of the room. That sign made everyone alert and made the escaping girl widen her eyes in horror.
Nui still didn't know what was going on, but she did as she was told. A fuchsia aura surrounded her and from it, her partner, Hisyaryumon appeared. "Get her!"
"You won't escape me!" The dragon Digimon tried to attack Norn, but Lekismon promptly went in front of him and blocked him with his two arms.
"NGHHH!"
"GET AWAY!" Hisyaryumon protested.
"That Digimon is protecting her! But who is that?" Toriko asked. But Kouta made a few reasons and soon found out the answer.
"Is that…Culumon?"
Tsuna gritted and used his Digivice to summon Coredramon. "Whatever the case is, they're helping us, which means we need to do the same! Coredramon!"
"You got it!" The other dragon Digimon dashed forward with his wings and pushed Hisyaryumon away with a fist. "BANG!"
"GAAAH!" Hisyaryumon ended up crashing into the wall.
"Hisyaryumon!" Nui exclaimed. But then she could see Coredramon better. "W-Wait…" Soon enough…as she looked at the supposed researchers…she realized everything.
"Quick Norn! Get away from here!" Kouta exclaimed as he and Toriko summoned their Digimon as well to give aid. With that, the three detectives took off their disguises, revealing themselves.
Norn didn't lose any time and nodded. "Thanks! Quick Lekismon!" And with those words, she and her Digimon resumed their escape.
"GRRRRR!" Saiba reached out to the other side of the floor and jumped on the wall to surpass the ones who were standing there. But his stare froze at the sight of the three detectives and Yuuko. "What!? The Cheshire Cat Agency!? Why are they here!? And why's Yuuko with them!?" He thought. But even if that vision made him more nervous, he tried to ignore it and kept on chasing Norn alongside his Digimon.
"He's going after Norn! At this point, he will reach him in a short time!" BaoHackmon said.
"Kouta, Toriko! Go after him!" Tsuna then suddenly proposed.
The other two boys were surprised by that phrase. "What? Hey, are you sure?" Toriko asked.
"You don't have to worry about me. I don't know what happened, but somehow, we may have gotten our enemy cornered. Whatever he wants from her, we can't let Saiba take out Norn!" Tsuna insisted.
"We know, but you also know that she's not one to be taken so easily, are you really sure of this?" Kouta asked to be sure.
"It's alright. After all… I and Coredramon know it better. We have a score to settle with this bitch and her Digimon. And I think Yuuko will need some help to make her reason. I'll be ok, there's no time to lose! Go now!" Tsuna replied.
The other two Chosen Children weren't still certain of that, but then Starmon turned towards the stairs. "Let's go after Saiba."
"Starmon?" Toriko asked.
"His mind has been settled. He wants to close that thing. I'd say we let him. You know we can trust him." The Digimon added.
After a few moments of silence, the two detectives convinced themselves. "Got it. We'll leave it to you then. Make sure to not die." Kouta told him.
Tsuna chuckled. "Oh, you know I'm a survivor!"
"Let's go, BaoHackmon." Kouta then said to his Digimon.
"Right! Good luck!" The white Digimon replied. With those words, the two detectives went downstairs, leaving only Tsuna and Yuuko to deal with Nui.
"Are you ready?" Tsuna asked.
Yuuko didn't answer. She wanted to try to avoid a battle. "Nui…" She then said, looking at her friend with a concerned look.
Nui looked at her Digimon standing up again with wide eyes and a bewildered expression on her face. "…Yuuko…why is the Cheshire Cat Agency here…?" She asked.
"Nui…it's what I wanted to explain-" Yuuko tried to talk, but Nui interrupted her.
"Explain what? That you went with them!? That you betrayed us!? That you betrayed ME!?" Nui exclaimed, starting to assume a battle stance.
"Nui, please! Try to understand!" Yuuko continued, but once again, she was interrupted.
"What there is to understand!? First, you decide to go with this plan, then you let yourself be defeated by these detectives, and now you ally with them to TAKE ME DOWN!? And you dare to talk about cleaning your sins?! You just made the biggest one! YOU STABBED ME IN THE BACK! I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY BEST FRIEND!" Nui shouted.
"I AM YOUR BEST FRIEND! CAN'T YOU SEE?! I BEEN TRYING TO SAVE YOU!" Yuuko shouted back.
"BY ARRESTING ME!? N-No…I can't stand this. After everything we've passed together, I thought that you cared about me…but if you intend to put me behind bars and leave me on this side in such a cowardly way…then have it your way." Nui answered, assuming a colder tone. "Hisyaryumon…you know what to do."
"Oh well…not that I don't want to protest…" The dragon Digimon replied, getting ready.
"Nui, please, we can't avoid this!" Yuuko said.
"You wanted this, AND NOW YOU HAVE TO PAY THE CONSEQUENCES!" Nui shouted out. After hearing her partner screaming, Hisyaryumon threw himself against Yuuko.
"Forgive me, Yuuko, but you saw this coming! HAAAAA!"
"AH!" Yuuko covered his eyes, but she could feel an aura surround her and something preventing the Digimon from attacking her. When she opened her eyes, she could see GeoGreymon pushing back Hisyaryumon. "GeoGreymon!"
"Don't worry, Yuuko! I've got you!" The dinosaur Digimon said before forcing the enemy Digimon to recoil.
"GeoGreymon! You intend to attack me!?" Hisyaryumon exclaimed.
"I wouldn't do this, but if Nui doesn't want to listen, I can't do much but protect my partner!" GeoGreymon countered.
"And count me in as well!" Coredramon added. In the meantime, Tsuna came closer.
"I know you want to help her. But as you can see…the only reason to make her listen is through some good old smack in the face! Let's do this!" He told her.
"…Unfortunately…you're right…" Yuuko added, getting ready as well.
Nui looked at her with saddened and disappointed eyes. "…So this is how it all ends. A bloody match between us. I really didn't want any of this…" At that moment…small flames could be seen in her eyes. Tsuna could recognize them.
"The eyes of a killer…"
"The only thing that can bring me peace now…IS TO GET MY REVENGE!" With those words, she took out what seemed to be a large iron blade from her back and ran at high speed towards them.
"YUUKO! WATCH OUT!" Tsuna promptly put himself in front of the girl and blocked the weapon with his hands. "HEY! I HOPE YOU'RE NOT FORGETTING ME!" He then pushed her away with a punch in her belly.
"AGH!" Nui had to spit a bit of blood as she fell and stood up again. "You want to get in as well!? Wasn't your defeat in five seconds last time enough!?" She exclaimed.
"I'm here for that! You have no idea how long I've waited for this!" The Chosen Child countered.
"FINE! HAVE AT YOU!" Nui shouted out as she charged again. Tsuna was ready to answer back, and this time, he was joined by Yuuko. In the end, the girl could understand it. Tsuna was right. The only solution left…was to defeat her.
"Jūouguruma!" Hisyaryumon, in the meantime, already started to attack the two enemy Digimon by surrounding them with his body and attacking them with his teeth and coils.
"NGH!" GeoGreymon stood in the first line to get all the blows and defend himself with his hard scales, while Coredramon flew up to reach the enemy.
"Strike Bomber!" Coredramon tried to attack him with the flick of his tail, but Hisyaryumon stopped in time and blocked the attack by turning into a big katana, forcing the two of them to jump back.
"Be careful. Hisyaryumon could take you down with one blow like he did the last time. He's not an easy opponent!" GeoGreymon warned the other Digimon.
"I know! Veedramon also told me that he could even evolve and reach the Ultimate-Level, even if for a short time. We'll just have to make sure that it won't happen!" Coredramon answered.
"Hah! Whether I evolve or not, it's clear that you don't stand a chance against me! I know you two better than you could expect, so taking you down won't be a hard task AT ALL!" Hisyaryumon exclaimed before preparing his next attack. "Tenryū Suishoukyū!" He then started to shoot his crystal balls repeatedly at the two Digimon, aiming to overwhelm them with a barrage of attacks.
"HM!" Coredramon put his wings in front of himself to defend himself from that rain of blows and then raised his head to release a burst of blue flames to contrast them. "Blue Flare Breath!"
"I see how it is. A burst of flames like that is a nice counterattack. But if he thinks I'm gonna stop in here, he's wrong! I've got plenty of stamina to use!" Hisyaryumon thought as he kept on attacking. But he ended up making one mistake, as he looked up and noticed something. "Huh!?"
GeoGreymon was already jumping high, aiming at him with a blast from his mouth. "Mega Shot!"
Since he was focused on attacking with crystal balls, Hisyaryumon couldn't defend himself and got inevitably hit and slammed to the ground. "GAAAH!" GeoGreymon then landed on his feet and pushed him further away with an attack on the tail. "GH!" The dragon Digimon was starting to get frustrated as he got hit already twice, therefore, as soon as he regained balance and stood up again, he dashed forward at high speed.
"GRRR!" Before GeoGreymon could reach him with a punch, Hisyaryumon already disappeared, and in his place, a rain of cuts attacked GeoGreymon, giving him several bleeding cuts throughout his body. "GAAAH!"
"W-What!? Where did he go!?" Coredramon exclaimed, looking around, but before he could even realize it, the rain of cuts got him as well. "GAAAAAH!"
Hisyaryumon reappeared behind them and turned around to glare at them. He got attacked, but he felt like he was still in advantage.
Coredramon and GeoGreymon turned around to meet him, even if they still felt pain from that attack. "Ngh…absurd. I never thought he could move that fast…" He commented.
"Are you that surprised? Considering that I have to look after Nui with two reptiles such as you, I think it's only natural!" Hisyaryumon replied.
Coredramon didn't want to hear another word as he gritted his teeth. In less than a second, he spread his wings and dashed against him, ready to attack. "Your friend is still in the wrong! We'll make both her and you wake up NOW!" He then started to throw a barrage of fists against the other dragon, who moved fast to dodge most of them. "BABABABABABABABABABABABABAAANG!"
At one point, Hisyaryumon turned his body into a katana to stop the fists with a violent impact. "Shout as many times as you want, you should have realized the last time the difference between u- GAAAH!" He was about to mock his opponent, but an attack with the tail from Coredramon made him stop.
"People change and improve through time! Maybe this is something you should realize!" Coredramon countered. He then took the chance to grab Hisyaryumon and throw him away. "WREAAAAH!"
"WOAAAAH!" Hisyaryumon couldn't expect it and got thrown away. He widened his eyes when he found out that he was thrown against GeoGreymon, who was already preparing for his next attack.
"Mega Flame!" The big dinosaur Digimon released a burst of high-temperature burst of flames against Hisyaryumon, who got inevitably hit and felt his whole body burn as he fell to the ground.
"GAAAAAAAH!" The dragon Digimon was suffering, but he didn't lose his grit and glared at the two opponents.
"You know I don't want this, Hisyaryumon! Don't make me go further!" GeoGreymon told him.
But Hisyaryumon smiled. "And why should I? Don't you see that you still don't have any chances? Jūouguruma!" Without losing time, He released a barrage of blows with his teeth and coils, filling their opponents with several cuts in their bodies and forcing them to recoil.
"GAAAAAH!"
Hisyaryumon then jumped up and stood in mid-air, as a purple aura started to influence him. "You see now!? Don't start to act cocky when you're not in the conditions to do so!"
"T-That's…" GeoGreymon said, noticing the aura.
"The power of darkness! It must be Saiba's Digimon's influence…which means that he's getting worse…we need to take him down quickly!" Coredramon explained.
"How are we going to do so? He's getting faster as time moves on…" The dinosaur Digimon asked.
Coredramon gritted and clenched his fist. "I know, but I don't intend to leave things like this…"
"GRAAAAAH!" In the meantime, Nui was swinging the iron blade she was holding here and there, forcing the other two humans to move around to dodge them.
"Nui, stop it, now! We don't want thi- GAAAAAH!" Yuuko tried another time to let her talk, but she ended up getting stabbed in the spleen by the blade. She raised her head and could see that Nui had a desperate expression with a murderous intent.
"YOU WANTED THIS! I've done my best to look after you, but you've decided to LEAVE ME ALONE!" Nui shouted. She was going to push deeper with the blade but got stopped by Tsuna, who punched her to push her away.
"GET OFF!"
"GAH!"
In the end, Yuuko snapped it. She gritted her teeth and took off the blade from her spleen. Even if it hurt, she kept on running towards the friend, grabbed her arm, and threw her down. "YOU ARE THE ONE WHO WANTS THIS! SO I'LL MAKE YOU LISTEN YOUR WAY!"
Nui's frustration and despair were growing further. Not only did Yuuko backstab her, but now she was also answering. She didn't want to leave that unpunished, she pushed the other two guys away with a spinning kick and stood up.
Tsuna had to spit a bit of blood for that. "Shit, she's tough just like that other time…"
"GRAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Nui didn't want to let them breathe and immediately threw herself against them.
"BUT I AM NO LESS!" With those words, Tsuna threw himself as well and the two of them held each other's hands, aiming to push the other away.
"GRRRRR! I can see that you're still the aggressive boy! Didn't you learn that this won't solve anything!?" Nui told him as she glared at him with a creepy smile.
"Tough words for someone who's doing the same thing RIGHT NOW!" Tsuna countered before solving the situation. While holding hands with Nui, he started to lift her by using more strength and then threw her down.
"GH!" Nui started to feel more pressure on her body and couldn't predict what would happen next. Once he got the advantage, he threw her away with a kick in the face. "AAAGH! YOU SICK BASTARD!" Nui quickly stood up, running fast and answering with a violent punch.
"GH!" This time Tsuna, couldn't predict it and got hit, losing some blood from his nose. "GHHH!"
"HOW DO YOU LIKE IT!? HUH!?" Nui was starting to get arrogant, but she was shocked to see that Yuuko was already there to throw her away with a violent kick on the belly. "GH!"
Yuuko didn't lose any time and immediately threw herself against her. Nui, on the other hand, already stood up, starting a physical brawl between the two of them. Tsuna was a bit surprised to see that Yuuko knew something about physical combat as well.
"You've always been like this, Nui! You've always wanted to do things on your own, even now! Even when I'm trying to save you, you persist in doing this, even if it meant to kill me or other people!" Yuuko exclaimed.
"I DID THIS FOR YOU! True, I made a lot of choices for myself, but I did it to make you happy! Because this is what friends are supposed to do!" Nui retorted as she continued to attack. "And don't forget that this was an idea of yours! I'm doing what's best to make you happy! WHICH MEANS SAVE YOUR MOTHER!"
"You don't want to understand that things have changed! IF ONLY YOU WOULD LET ME TALK FOR ONCE!" Yuuko retorted.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN!?" Nui shouted.
"You've always wanted to make sure to have your opinion on whatever I've wanted to do! And I was forced to do it because you didn't want to listen otherwise!" Yuuko explained, remembering the past.
"You know…that guy seems likable…should I give it a try?"
"What? Oh please, did you see him? He will assault you the first moment, trust me!"
"But…"
"No buts! You know me, I have more experience in dating and relationships!"
Nui looked at her with discomfort for a moment. "W-What? No, come on! You knew it was always for the best!"
"NO IT WASN'T!" Yuuko replied, before pushing further. "I was forced to listen to you because you didn't let me talk! YOU WERE OPPRESSIVE!"
"THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU ANSWER!? I WOULD HAVE LISTENED TO YOU!" Nui shouted back.
"BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO MAKE YOU FEEL SAD!"
"WELL, LOOK AT WHAT YOU'RE DOING RIGHT NOW!"
After that exchange of words, both girls threw a violent punch at each other, bleeding out and making a few steps back.
"Y-You motherfucker…why are you making this hard? Just for how long will you keep on making me suffer!?" Nui said, as she started to raise her head, as a purple aura started to surround her as well.
"What-? What is that!?" Yuuko exclaimed.
"Dammit! That asshole!" Tsuna commented, referring to Saiba. "It seems that he infused Nui and her partner with the darkness of his Digimon! It seems that things will get tougher from now on…which means the satisfaction will be bigger!"
"D-Darkness…? Does that mean…" As she said it, Yuuko looked at her Digivice and then at her friend.
"I've had enough…" Nui said. "Of all of this. I don't care if Saiba reaches his goal or not. What I do care about now…IS THAT I GET RID OF BOTH OF YOU!" As her frustration grew bigger, her aura was given to that of Hisyaryumon, who could feel his power increase.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" The dragon Digimon released a large shout that alarmed the other two.
"He's coming! Get ready!" GeoGreymon warned the other Digimon, who did so. But once again…that wasn't enough to predict his next move.
"Jūouguruma!" Once again, the two Digimon could feel lots and lots of cuts getting their bodies, as they roared out of pain. But Hisyaryumon wasn't done. As soon as he finished that attack, he turned around and started to overwhelm them with a myriad of crystal balls. "Tenryū Suishoukyū!"
"GRRRRR!" Coredramon used his wings to defend himself and could feel a lot of physical pain as the balls kept on ricocheting on his body. He turned around and could see that GeoGreymon lowered himself to defend himself with his hard helmet. "Shit! We cannot let him attack as he pleases! I need to spot the perfect moment to counterattack!" With that in mind, he kept on defending himself, making the seconds go by.
One second…two seconds…three seconds…four seconds…five seconds…six seconds…and then, at the seventh second, he could see it. "Ah!" The balls started to get less frequent. Not wanting to waste this chance, he opened his wings and left himself exposed. Even if the balls would have attacked him, he quickly charged flames in his mouth and released them. "Blue Flare Breath!" A burst of blue flames was enough to destroy the crystal balls, but as soon as it ended, Coredramon could see with wide eyes that Hisyaryumon was already charging toward him.
"YOU THINK I WOULD HAVE FALLEN FOR THAT!?" The dragon Digimon exclaimed.
"THINK AGAIN!" Coredramon retorted as he threw a violent punch against Hisyaryumon, making his armor crack.
"NGHH! NO! NOT YET! I WON'T LOSE!" Pushed by the dark power that was flowing inside of him, Hisyaryumon found the strength to answer, as he scratched Coredramon's belly with his claw.
"GAAAAH!" Coredramon was forced to let the grip. Hisyaryumon took the chance to cut him down by turning his body into a large katana.
"Seiryūjin!"
"GAAAAH!" Coredramon fell on his knees. Hisyaryumon was on the verge of stabbing him in the neck, but GeoGreymon promptly stopped him by attacking him with his horn.
"Horn Impulse!" As soon as he got him, GeoGreymon lifted him and made him crash to the ground with a violent impact. The floor cracked down because of it. "That's enough, Hisyaryumon! You're not yourself anymore!"
"GRRRRR!" Hisyarumon growled as the purple aura became more intense. "I AM MYSELF! I'VE ALWAYS BEEN! I HAVE BEEN DOING MY BEST TO PROTECT MY PARTNER IN MY WAY! EVEN IF IT MEANS CUTTING BOTH OF YOUR HEADS DOWN! Seiryūjin!" By using his tail, he quickly attacked GeoGreymon several times, making him roar out of pain and forcing him to let off the grip. Hisyaryumon then pushed him away and tried to stab him right in the heart, but Coredramon pushed him away with his body. "I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!" Hisyaryumon tried to cut him down again, but this time, the blue dragon was ready to answer.
"GRAAAAAAH!" The two of them ended up throwing a barrage of attacks against each other, which ended with Coredramon managing to give one punch in his face while Hisyaryumon managed to slice him near the chest. "GRRR! BLUE FLARE BREATH!" Coredramon managed to push him away with a burst of blue flames, but he could feel his body starting to abandon him due to the large number of cuts on his body. "G-Gh…I manage to answer his attacks, but I don't know for how long I'll keep on doing so…" He commented, as his blood fell on the floor.
"Kh…and the worst part is that…he doesn't seem to fall back, due to that energy…" GeoGreymon added.
Hisyaryumon, on the other hand, was breathing fast, with smoke coming out from his nose, as the aura kept on growing. "Come on…don't stop the fun…I'm just getting started!"
Meanwhile, after she got angrier and corrupted by Saiba's Digimon influence, Nui became faster and more agile with her attacks, forcing the other two guys to move faster.
"GRRR!" Tsuna tried to answer with a heavy punch, but Nui moved away fast enough to dodge it and answered with a kick in the neck. "GAAAH!" Tsuna was thrown against the wall, while Yuuko was there to replace him.
"TSEAH!" Yuuko tried out several punches, but Nui moved the head in time to dodge them.
"I'VE GOT YOU NOW!" The other girl tried to stab Yuuko in the hand with her bare hand, but Yuuko stopped her by grabbing her hand.
"NOT YET!" Yuuko then took advantage of the position to throw down, Nui, who made her fall as well by kicking her ankles. "AGH!"
Nui didn't lose any time and went on Yuuko, starting to punch her. "TAKE THIS! HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE HURT BY YOUR BEST FRIEND!? THIS IS WHAT I'M FEELING RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF YOU!" As she shouted this, she kept on hitting, wanting to see Yuuko, the girl who was always with her, bleed. For a moment, it was almost like she had forgotten that she was a friend of hers.
"GH! GH! GH!" Yuuko put her arms in front of herself as a defense, but she could feel overwhelmed.
Tsuna stood up and looked at the scene. He could feel like a vein inside him blew up from the rage, so he ran fast to block her and push her against the wall.
"GAH!"
"YOU CALL YOURSELF A FRIEND OF HERS!? YOU'RE JUST SICK!" Tsuna shouted.
"GRRRRR! STAY OUT OF THIS!" Nui quickly stood up and started to attack him as well. Tsuna defended himself properly and waited for the perfect moment to deliver a punch right in her face, which made her nose bleed. "GAAAH!" She was forced to recoil and loosened for a moment. "COUGH COUGH…" Due to the pain, she even coughed a bit of blood. Her face was half red due to all the blood from the wounds. But even so, she looked up while breathing heavily. Tsuna and Yuuko could also see a few tears coming down from her eyes.
"She's…suffering…" Yuuko commented.
"W-Why…why do you keep on answering? W-Why did you betray me, Yuuko? Why did you want to see me arrested? What…what did I do to you to deserve this?" Nui asked.
That sight made the other girl start to cry as well. "Nui…please…try to listen to me. I-I didn't want all of this…whatever happens…I'll make sure that you won't be alone…" She told her.
"Y-Yuuko…" Nui whispered. For a moment, it almost seemed like she could have listened. But right at that moment, another purple aura infused her body, making her hold her face. "AAAGH!" After a few moments of silence…she answered. "I…I can't believe you…look at me! Look at what you did to me! You and that fucking detective, just so that you could take me down! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE YOU IF YOU DID THIS TO ME IN THE FIRST PLACE!?"
"NUI, PLEASE! CAN'T YOU SEE THAT SAIBA'S DIGIMON IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF YOUR EMOTIONS!?" Yuuko told her.
"SO WHAT!? IT WON'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT WE'RE FIGHTING! But…" Nui then raised her Digivice.
"What…? What are you doing?" Yuuko asked, getting worried.
Tsuna could already understand it. He remembered what Kasai told him about their battle. "No…"
"I'll put it to an end…with this…" Nui raised her Digivice. "Craawl…through the laaand…I will laugh…AS YOU FALL!" After making a creepy song, the Digivice released a dark aura that filled Hisyaryumon with energy.
"AAAAARGH! FINALLY! I WAS WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT!" And with that…the dragon Digimon's body was fully covered in darkness…and started to change form…evolving.
"OH NO!" Coredramon shouted.
"He's evolving!" GeoGreymon added.
In the end…the darkness faded out, revealing Ouryumon. "GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" The evolved Digimon released a loud roar that shattered some of the floor's windows and then charged at his two enemies, crushing them with his huge body.
"GAAAAAH!" Coredramon tried to oppose and charge him with his body, only to feel like he attacked something too hard to break. "GH!"
"MEGA BURST!" GeoGreymon tried to join in by releasing a powered version of the Mega Flame, but Ouryumon's armor seemed immune even to that. "I-It can't be!"
"EH EH EH EH EH…WHAT WERE YOU TRYING TO DO, EH!?" Ouryumon then pushed him away with violence and then attacked both of them with his huge body. "OUGAI!"
"GAAAAAAAH!" Coredramon and GeoGreymon were wiped away and crashed against the wall. They could feel that in a moment or another, their data would have started to fade away.
"COREDRAMON / GEOGREYMON!" Both Tsuna and Yuuko shouted in unison. But they didn't have the time to think about it they felt something stabbing their belly, making them spit blood. "BLARGH!"
It was Nui, who already put her hands in them, before pushing them to the ground. "GRRR!"
"GHHH! D-DAMMIT…IT HURTS…" Yuuko said.
"T-This is the shittiest situation I've ever been…" Tsuna commented. He could then hear a large thud close to him, and when he raised his stare, he could see that Nui was right above them, with Ouryumon preparing the next attack.
"We've got you now…" Ouryumon said with a creepy tone.
"Now..." Nui added. She first looked at Tsuna. "How does it feel to lose a second time against the same person?" She then turned to Yuuko. "And you…how does it feel to suffer like this against a friend of yours? Both of you wanted this outcome…so now…You'll get what you wanted." She was about to give the order at her Digimon order to finish them off. But right then…
Both Tsuna and Yuuko, alongside their Digimon, stood up again.
Nui was confused, but she made a small smile. "Ah ah ah! Are you serious!? Even after all those devastating blows, you still try to stand up? You're stupider than I thought! What makes you think you can win!?"
"To be honest…I don't know if I'll be able to win at this point…but still, as long as I breathe, the goal of smacking your face down still remains, so don't think I'll fall that easily!" Tsuna retorted.
"That's right…even if you're stronger at this moment…I still want to save you. Now more than ever. I…" Yuuko's tears became more visible. "I don't intend to lose you…"
Once again…Nui was lost. "Why…Why are you crying? Come on, you can't be serious! You've tried to take me down up until now, you can't be sorry about that!"
"I AM! A-After all…if we're fighting right now…it's because of me…this is all my fault. The Cheshire Cat Agency made me notice that. I couldn't find a different way to save my mother, and I was desperate because my father didn't want to listen to me. So, without thinking, I've acted like an asshole and accepted Saiba's proposal. And you…wanted to support me…and joined as well. Y-You are right on getting angry…" Yuuko started to sob. "This all happened because of me. And now I'm seeing the consequences of that! We ended up fighting! I would have never done that! And even worse…Saiba's Digimon corrupted you…all because I didn't think of a way to counter my father!" She then looked up. "…I-It's all my fault. I'm…sorry…" The sobs became more intense. "I'm so sorry…you're suffering because of me…"
Both Tsuna and Nui were surprised. She seemed…so sincere. Nui never knew she would have had the courage to admit it, but there she was.
And adding to that…Yuuko took out something from her pocket. A heart made out of wool.
That made Nui gasp. "I-Is that…"
"Yes, Nui…it's the gift you've given me when we first met in kindergarten. I've held it for all this time…" Yuuko answered.
"But…why…?" Nui asked.
"…Because you're my best friend…and I don't want to lose you. So please…let's stop this fight…" The other girl replied.
"N-Nui?" Ouryumon asked.
Nui let her Digivice fall to the ground and looked down. Was Yuuko…telling the truth? Those emotions…and the fact that she kept her gift…seemed all sincere. She could even remember the day when she gave it to her.
"What is this?"
"A gift! You were the only kid who wanted to be friends with me! The others think I'm creepy…"
"But you're not! Not for me at least…"
"R-Really? Thank you…see? This is why I'm giving this to you! We'll be friends forever, right?"
"Yes! Forever! Eh eh!"
Maybe…she was oppressive…
Tsuna looked at the scene in silence. He wasn't someone for scenes like this, but he didn't want to ruin the scene (also for the possibility of the fighting end).
Nui looked down in silence for a few moments, almost in regret. But then…
"…No."
"What?" Yuuko asked.
"…We both don't deserve this…" Nui then raised her head. "Even if you care…you still betrayed me…and you still want to defeat me. How could I follow you!? I…I just want to make sure that everything will be ok!" The aura around her body increased as she cried. "And to do so…I need to survive…even if it means…to kill you." As she said those words, Ouryumon was ready to attack.
"Nui…Why…" Yuuko was starting to lose hope at that moment, but then Tsuna made a few steps forward.
"Nui…we both know that you don't want this. That dark aura that surrounds you right now is partly to blame because of what you just said. I was the first one to fight Yuuko, and a friend of mine could see it as well. She is sincere! But you're simply closed in your ideas that you don't want to accept them. I've met you only a few times, so I'm not really someone who should talk about your bond. But…I could see it. Yuuko wants to save you! And I do know when someone really cares about you, I've had it several times with both my family and my colleagues!" He said, remembering all the times someone looked over him.
His parents Daisuke and Hikari, Aisu, Kumo, Kouta, Toriko, Kyoko…and Coredramon.
"I know when a friend wants to make sure you're okay, and Yuuko is doing so! So the only thing I can do…is to support her. I still think you're a bitch. But I intend to save you from the grasp of that asshole that is Saiba." Tsuna continued.
Yuuko could find a bit of courage in doing so, as she came closer. Both of them held their fists tightly, as their Digimon came closer.
"You know…both of you gave some good words…I'm impressed!" Coredramon commented.
"I agree…come on. Let's do this…" GeoGreymon added.
Nui was once again confused. "Why…I…I don't understand…"
"There isn't much to understand, Nui…I simply care too much about you to let you go. I betrayed Saiba…but I don't intend to do the same with you." Yuuko told her.
"Heh…that's…what heroes do, right? The same thing I've wanted to be…" Tsuna added.
And then…the miracle happened.
Both Tsuna and Yuuko's Digivice started to shine a bright light. They could notice it. "Ah!"
"N-No way!" Nui exclaimed.
"Dammit! They'll do it as well!" Ouryumon added.
"YES! YES! WE'LL DO IT AS WELL! ARE YOU READY, COREDRAMON?" Tsuna asked, all hyped up.
"OF COURSE! LET'S DO IT!" Coredramon replied, almost moved.
GeoGreymon nodded at Yuuko, who then looked at Tsuna and nodded as well. "I'm ready…" She then looked at Nui, who gritted her teeth. "Nui! I'll save you…and destroy that darkness inside you! LET'S DO THIS!"
"YEAH BOY!" Tsuna shouted.
The two of them raised their Digivices…whose light surrounded their partners…and finally, it happened to them as well.
Evolution.
"COREDRAMON / GEOGREYMON! SUPER EVOLUTION!" Both their bodies started to change.
Coredramon became a bigger dragon with azure blue scales, orange hair, and a silver face. His horns became thinner and sharper, and a lance on his back appeared. Finally, he had two yellow balls in his hand. "WINGDRAMON!"
GeoGreymon instead, became taller, and his body was covered by a mechanical armor, with wings, a cannon on his left arm, and a metal mask on his face. "RIZEGREYMON!"
Yuuko looked in awe as her partner evolved. "RizeGreymon…"
"AH AH AH AH AH AH! YEEEES! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG! YOU'RE SO COOL!" Tsuna overreacted as he started to jump on the place.
"I KNOW RIGHT?" Wingdramon replied before turning at the enemy alongside RizeGreymon.
"D-Dammit! No! I don't want to accept it!" Nui exclaimed, starting to freak out.
"Chill out, Nui! Even if they evolved, they're still on the Perfect-Level! THEY CAN'T HURT ME!" Confident in his powers, Ouryumon dashed against them, hoping to strike them down with one attack again, but the two Digimon flew up and dashed faster than expected. "WHAT!?"
"RIGHT BACK AT YA!" Wingdramon shouted before releasing his attack. He dived at super-sonic speed against the enemy while shooting out with the lance on his back. "EXPLODE SONIC LANCE!"
"GAAAH!" Not expecting this, Ouryumon got hit and was left exposed to RizeGreymon, who was already aiming at the enemy with his cannon. "TRIDENT REVOLVER!" He shot three plasma blasts that inevitably hit the giant dragon, making him reverse to Hisyaryumon.
"WHAT!?" The Digimon shouted. Even Nui had the same reaction.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? THIS SHIT AGAIN!? JUST TWO HITS AND YOUR ULTIMATE-LEVEL WEARS OFF!?" She shouted. She then turned around and saw that both Tsuna and Yuuko were in front of her to give her a double punch.
"SNAP OUT OF IT…" Yuuko started.
"RIGHT NOW!" And Tsuna finished the line.
"GHHHH!" Since she couldn't predict that, Nui ended up getting hit and was thrown away. When she stood up, she could see that Yuuko and Tsuna were already running towards her. They didn't want to let her go. Not now. So Nui answered with the same violence. "GRRRR!"
"N-Ngh…" Meanwhile, Hisyaryumon looked as Wingdramon and RizeGreymon were ready to finish the battle, now that he was back at the Perfect-Level as well. "Dammit…maybe I won't be stronger…but I can still win! We have to see if you can match my speed! Jūouguruma" He tried to overwhelm both enemies with bites and coils, but to his surprise and horror, Wingdramon stepped forward and attacked as well.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
"OH COME ON- GAAAH!" In the end, Wingdramon was able to punch Hisyaryumon right in the abdomen and manage to push him away. The dragon Digimon then tried to use a barrage of his bouncing crystal balls. "Tenryū Suishoukyū!"
"BARREL SMASH!" This time, it was RizeGreymon who intervened. He used his cannon barrel quickly to shatter the crystal balls. He then charged forward and attacked the dragon with the same barrel. "SOLID STRIKE!"
"GAAAAAAAAH!" Hisyaryumon fell again. "D-DAMMIT…"
"Aaaah it feels so refreshing!" Wingdramon commented.
"What do you say, Nui!? Do you give up?" Tsuna asked.
"NO- AGH!" As soon as Nui refused, Tsuna started to punch her repeatedly. "AGH! AGH! AGH! AGH! AGH! HEY, STOP IT!"
"BEFORE FINISHING THIS, I NEED TO PAY YOU BACK FOR WHAT YOU DID THAT TIME INSIDE THE CAVE! FUCK YOU AND YOUR FUCKING EDGY LOLI ATTITUDE! TIME TO WAKE UP! Yuuko, help me!" Tsuna said before grabbing Nui by the hair.
"Right! Forgive me Nui…this will hurt a bit!" Yuuko grabbed her as well and the two of them threw her toward her partner.
"GAH!"
"NOW GUYS!" Yuuko then said, referring to the two Digimon.
"Got it! Ready, RizeGreymon?" Wingdramon asked.
"Ready!" RizeGreymon opened the cannon on his chest and the mechanical wings started to charge out energy.
"AH! NUI! LOOK OUT! Hisyaryumon exclaimed, trying to defend her. But the two blows would have reached her out either way.
Nui looked one last time at Yuuko, especially considering that despite everything…she was still holding the heart of wool. "I…I really messed up…haven't I'?" She thought.
"Nui! Expel that darkness from your heart! Wake up!" Yuuko said. And with that…everything was set and done.
"WING BLAST!"
"RISING DESTROYER!"
While Wingdramon generated several sonic booms, RizeGreymon released a barrage beam from the cannon on his chest and three cannon beams from his wings. The blows reached out to both Hisyudramon and Nui. Luckily, the Digimon stood in front so he took most of the damage. But that was enough to destroy the darkness that was corrupting them and to make Tsuna and Wingdramon release their battle cry.
"BABABABABABABABABABABABABABABABABABABABAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG!"
"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
A large explosion took place, almost destroying the floor they were standing on. Tsuna and Yuuko looked at the attack for a few moments in silence and waited for the smoke to fade out.
When it happened, they could see Nui and Hisyaryumon standing near each other while lying on the ground.
"H-Hisyaryumon…" Nui said with a low voice. She had a few burns on her body due to the attacks.
"I-I'm sorry…Nui…" The Digimon replied. His body was still smoking. He wasn't in deadly danger, but he was still reduced badly.
"It's alright…" Nui told him before looking up with tired and painful eyes. "…At least…they helped us…"
At that moment…Tsuna and Yuuko came closer.
"…You mean it, Nui?" Yuuko asked.
"…Y-Yes…I've…I've made everything worse…I…I should have listened to you. You were right…I am…oppressive." Nui replied as tears fell on her eyes.
Yuuko couldn't help but feel compassionate. Tears started to fall on her face again. "…We both made terrible mistakes…but…"
She then hugged her.
"…I still want to be friends with you. Let's…let's put all of this aside. How about we start over? After all…I was going to deliver me to the jail…" Yuuko proposed.
"But…what about your father?" Nui then asked.
"It's alright. I was able to convince my father." The other girl said, turning to Tsuna. "Thanks to them."
Nui was surprised. "Really? This…This is wonderful…Mrs. Chitose will be ok then. I really should have listened."
"It's not too late." Yuuko promptly replied. "They made me realize it. You…can still do something good with your life…as long as you notice it."
"Well…I wasn't the one that said it…" Tsuna pointed out. "But you can get the message!" He then added with a smile.
Nui looked at him as well. "I'm…sorry for that one time. You have all the right to get angry at me."
Tsuna crossed his arms. "Well, I did smack your face in the end and you learned your lesson, so I think it's ok!"
"What about you, Hisyaryumon?" RizeGreymon then asked.
"Y-Yeah…forgive me. I've tried to stick up with her until the end. And, well…next time I'll do my best to not act all cocky." Hisyaryumon replied.
"…Yuuko…can you give me that heart?" Nui then asked. Yuuko didn't hesitate and gave it to her already.
The sight of it brought back many good memories. Enough to make the girl smile…and take another one from her pocket, surprising Yuuko. "You made another one, remember?"
"Yes…now I do." Yuuko replied.
"…So…do you think that…I can still do the right thing?" Nui asked.
"Of course! You don't have to worry about that. Because you'll have me. After all…we'll be best friends forever right?" Yuuko replied.
That quote alone…was enough to make Nui happy and in peace. "…Right. I'll promise!" Her tone came back to her happy and carefree one. She then took out something else from the pocket and leaned the hand to Tsuna. "Take this."
"Hm?" When he took it, Tsuna was surprised to find out what it was. "Ah! One of the USB keys!" He exclaimed.
"We got another one!" Wingdramon exclaimed.
"I'm sure you'll…use it better than me…" Nui said before turning to Yuuko. "Can you help me stand up?"
"Sure!" Yuuko said by doing so. At that moment, both Wingdramon and RizeGreymon reversed back to their previous forms, with GeoGreymon lifting Hisyaryumon. "What do we do now?" The girl then asked.
"We go down. Norn and the others will surely need some help. We'll get back on them and then find out where Saiba hides his stuff!" Tsuna replied.
"Got it!" Yuuko replied.
"So…guess I'm gonna betray as well, eh? That's…fine by me." Nui commented.
And with those words, they started to run (even if Yuuko had to make an extra effort since she had to carry Nui as well.)
Another enemy was defeated, and two friends were able to reconcile. But time was still precious, considering the person who was chasing down Norn.
"What happened up there?"
"The must have been some ruckus!"
"Are we perhaps attacked by some terrorist!?"
"Maybe we should get out of this building…"
All the people down on the ground floor of the building were confused due to all the mess that was happening, and the fact that they saw a barefoot girl running fast towards the exit surely increased the confusion. "ANF ANF ANF ANF! THERE LEKISMON! THE EXIT!" The girl shouted.
"Yes! We're almost-" But before they could reach it, they saw with horror Saiba and his Digimon jump right in front of them.
"N-No…" Norn said in horror.
"Uh? Mister Rei!?" The researchers said, looking at him confused.
"You've played enough. All I want is to assure you a proper future, like everyone else here. So, it's better for you if you stop all of this and come with me."
Norn stood on the defensive. "I…I refuse! I already told you, I don't intend to join a patriot terrorist!" She exclaimed.
At that moment, Kouta and Toriko were able to reach them and aid Norn with their Digimon.
"It's better if you don't come closer!" Kouta exclaimed.
Toriko was already aiming his gun at him. "Yeah! One move and I won't hesitate to make these bullets bounce on your body!"
Saiba looked at them with a disgusted face. "You detectives are truly a thorn in the side. You don't have any idea how much trouble you have given me. But I don't intend to waste any more time with guys like you. I won't be even the one to finish you off."
"What do you mean?" Kouta asked. But just as he said that word, the remaining mercenaries entered and started to surround them with their Digimon. "WHAT!?"
"No way! They're here!?" Kouta added.
"My, my! What a lucky loot! And to think that we came back just to leave the Digimon we took here. But I guess we'll have some satisfaction as well." Cassidy commented.
"Indeed. I needed someone to finish off after what happened today." Sigmund added.
"We're ready to attack, Mister Rei," Eligor said. The other mercenaries were ready to attack.
Kouta, Toriko, Norn, and their Digimon got closer, trying to defend each other. But that seemed a desperate situation.
"Dammit! This is the worst! What do we do?" Toriko asked.
"Calm down! Nothing is settled yet!" Kouta replied.
"That's right! I'm ready to attack!" BaoHackmon added.
"Count me in!" Norn said.
In the meantime, Saiba started to come closer. "I would have preferred if there were more of you. But I'll still satisfy myself by starting by killing two detectives. You have bothered me for the last time. As for you, Norn…it's a shame. I was serious when I promised you all those things. But if you intend to follow them…then you are no different from them. Which means…that you can die as well." And with those words…he was about to give the order. The two detectives and Norn were ready to defend themselves, even if the chances of them getting out of there were slim. But…right at that moment…
Several techniques' names could be heard from outside…and a myriad of blows destroyed the entrance and attacked directly the mercenaries.
"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
"AGH! W-What!? What just happened?!" Aleksi exclaimed.
Saiba quickly turned around. "No, don't tell me!" His fears were right.
"Eh eh! It seems we made it in time!" A familiar voice calmed down the two detectives and the hostage. And soon enough…
Kyoko and the rest of the Cheshire Cat Agency, alongside the Lion Fang Agency, all entered together surrounding the place.
"Now this is what I call a dramatic entrance!" Kyoko commented.
"How is everyone?" Aria asked.
"Guys! You came!" Kouta exclaimed.
"How!? How were you able to reach us!?" Saiba exclaimed.
"Oh oh! It's not only us of course!" Sasuke told them.
"We called a little help!" Gladimon added. And just as he said it…
The original Chosen Children, alongside Sion Mikihara and a few policemen, entered, surrounding the place. At that sight, most of the researchers freaked out and escaped.
"The heroes on the rescue!" Miyako exclaimed.
"Aren't you a bit old for that?" Hawkmon asked.
"Who cares!" The woman replied.
Naturally, Saiba and his men started to panic.
"How is it possible!? When they find the time to chase us and call all these people!?" James exclaimed.
"NO! NO! NO! I REFUSE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!" Jake freaked out.
"You need to accept it," Kasai said before pointing at them. "We've got you."
"You bastards…" Cassidy retorted.
Naturally Saiba was the most upset one, especially after seeing a familiar figure. "Taichi!? You can still move!?"
"Fortunately yes. It's not the first time I've ended up like this." Taichi replied. "I'm sorry, Saiba. But I think we need to end this."
Soon enough, all the guns were pointed at Saiba and his mercenaries.
Tsuna and the others came down and saw the scene. "Well look at that! We have some backup!"
Then, Ken and Iori made a few steps closer. "We've already warned the jury and the rest of the police. It's all official now. Your actions…and your crimes."
"You said it, Iori!" Armadimon said.
"Saiba Rei. You and your men are under arrest under the charges of Digimon kidnapping, murder, terrorism and conspiracy. Give up, you can't escape." Ken added.
"Murder? What is he talking about?" Aleksi asked, confused.
Cassidy started to sweat. "Dammit…what do we do?"
Saiba gulped and tightened his fist. He couldn't accept it. Not now that he was only a few steps from his victory. He couldn't let this happen. First the mercenaries getting defeated, and now this. He turned around and could see that both Yuuko and Nui were with the detectives, implying that they betrayed him. Why was everything going so bad? At that point…there was only one solution left.
"Fine…you made a good move, everyone. But…it's too late to give up at this point. And it's too late to stop what I'm trying to do. You'll soon see. I'll bring you to the next level. NOW!" With that, his Digimon remaining in his silhouette released a blast of darkness that messed up the entire floor and made everyone recoil.
"GHHHHHH!"
"MIMI! I CAN'T MOVE!" Palmon warned.
But the members of the Cheshire Cat agency didn't want to falter…and tried to chase him.
"YOU WON'T ESCAPE!" Somehow, they were all able to say the same thing at the same time. But before they could do something, an eye of energy appeared above everyone swallowing Saiba and his men.
In an instant…they were gone.
"DAMMIT! THEY GOT AWAY!" Chikara shouted.
"COME BACK HERE, COWARDS!" Tsuna shouted as well.
"STOP!" Kyoko then called everyone in order. "They got away…"
Inevitably…everyone accepted it. And they all sighed. Still…something good came out of it.
"Dad!"
"Norn! Come here!"
As soon as the panic was over, Norn could finally run toward his father and hug him.
"Oh, Norn! As soon as they told me that they kidnapped you, I was terrified!" Sion told him.
"I-It's ok, dad. I've defended myself. Lekismon here helped me out!" Norn replied.
"Lekismon? Is that Culumon?" Rekka asked.
"Yes, it's me! I was able to evolve!" Lekismon replied.
"I've evolved too! But that's maybe for later…" Coredramon added.
"So you were ok! As soon as we saw you disappear, we chased them down!" Kumo said.
"What did they want to do to you?" Shark asked.
Norn sighed. "It's…a long story…involving Saiba's intentions." She replied.
Soon, everyone looked at them.
"I-It's…a bit embarrassing having all these eyes on me…" Norn commented.
Aisu came closer to comfort her. "Hey! It's alright. We just want to know…well…"
"We've been wanting to know ever since all of this started. So…what does Saiba want?" Kasai added.
Norn took a deep breath…and explained. And with that…the Cheshire Cat Agency finally had it. The villain's motive.
Naturally…everyone was shocked. But for some reason…some of them could predicted.
"Of course…how could I have not thought about it?" Koushiro commented.
"What do you mean, dad?" Rekka asked.
"Saiba…ever since his father died when he was little…he was always moved by a strong sense of patriotism. Even if he was half-Japanese, he did his best to improve America. So…" The former Chosen Child explained.
"He started this plan and gathered Digimon energy for this? Make…America all-powerful?" Kyoko asked.
"It's absurd…it's almost like a politician you may read about in the story books. But…doesn't that mean that…he plans to turn this country into one big dictatorship towards the rest of the world?" Yatsura added.
"That seems the case…so what we had was more deeper and dangerous than we thought…good grief…" Kasai commented.
Taichi looked down, feeling sad. "I…I knew he was an ambitious person. But I didn't know he would have gone that far…"
"I know what you're feeling. I…felt the same when I realized what I was doing as the Digimon Kaiser." Ken told him.
"Well…it's not like we didn't see someone like him in the past, but…" Yamato then spoke up, gathering everyone's attention. "What to do now?" He then looked at the detectives. "What's the plan to stop him? He said that his plan was almost complete. So what now?"
Everyone stood silent for a moment. But then, Kyoko spoke up. "Well…first off…we do what we sent the others to do. We find out Saiba's secret stuff and cut it down."
"Right…the thing is…we've got interrupted, so we didn't get to reach Saiba's study and we don't know where to look…" Toriko admitted, feeling a bit ashamed. But right at that moment…
"…We'll show you."
Everyone turned around to see Nui holding on with Yuuko.
"I've been inside that room many times…I know where Saiba hides all the Digimon he kidnapped. Me and Yuuko can take you there…" Nui said.
Kasai was confused at first. "Nui Kishibe? You're…still here?" She asked.
"It's alright! She realized her mistake as well! She's on our side!" Tsuna told her.
"I remember you from when we fought in the Village of Beginnings," Nui told her. "And…I've realized my mistakes…let me help you to clean out our sins."
Kasai looked at her in silence for a few seconds. Nui could feel a bit of pressure.
Veedramon looked at her partner. "What do you say, Kasai? Is she okay?" He asked.
After a few minutes of silence, Kasai made a small smile. "Show us the road." With that, Nui smiled back.
"Is it me, or Kasai gave her a…sweet treatment?" Yatsura whispered to Rina.
"Urusei Yatsura." Kasai promptly said.
"WAAAH! THIS ONE WAS FREE!" The girl cried out.
Kyoko then turned around. "Alright then! All detectives from the two agencies follow me!"
"What do we do, Kyoko?" Sora asked her. "You know…we don't want to sit around since we're here…"
"Right!" Piyomon added.
"Right…well…at this point try to help out here. Someone might come back and attack…" Kyoko told her.
"Leave it to us, sweetheart!" Her mother told her, winking.
"Sigh…put in second line…" Daisuke commented.
Hikari laughed a bit. "Well, you can't expect much from us now…" she told him.
After the situation was peaceful, Nui and Yuuko guided the group to the last floor, where Saiba's now abandoned office was standing. Everyone gave a careful look around.
Kyoko made a sigh. "To think that I've talked with him here a few months ago…and I've believed him." She commented.
"Don't worry! It's not like we're that distant from the end!" DORUgamon comforted her. "Though yes, everything would have been solved a lot sooner…"
"Gee, thanks, DORUgamon!" The girl exclaimed.
Shizuka and Cheri were looking out the window of the office. "Gee! We're pretty high!" The former commented.
"T-To the point I have dizziness…" Sistermon Blanc commented.
"But…what there is to see here? I don't see anything, it seems like a regular office." Toriko then asked.
As an answer, Nui clicked a button on the desk which revealed a secret door behind it.
"WOAH!" Everyone exclaimed.
"Well! That's one Zelda-like secret!" Sasuke commented.
"Did you play on the Super Nintendo again?" Kyoko asked him with a skeptical face.
"Wha-? Uh, NO?" The other detective replied, trying to go defensive.
The two former mercenaries opened up the door in the meantime. "This way." Yuuko simply said before entering with Nui. Everyone looked at each other first. They didn't know what to expect. But they knew they had to do it. So they've all entered.
"Oh…oh dear lord…" Aisu commented.
"This is…sick…" Shark added.
"N-No wonder how they were able to take so many of them…" Chikara said.
The door revealed a large dark room with several capsules inside which many Digimon were encaptivated. All of them were put in a coma status and were filled with several tubes. At the other side of the room, stood one computer that was connected to all of the capsules.
"So…these are all the Digimon that he captured? It was here that Saiba took their energy?" ExVeemon asked.
"Yes. We gave him the Digimon and he put it there to absorb their energy through these capsules which converged to form the Perfect Cube." Yuuko answered.
"Does that mean that the Perfect Cube is here?" Kasai asked.
"Unfortunately no. He moved it to the government skyscraper of Somunus. The energy is gathered here and then is transferred directly in here." Nui answered.
"He manages to transfer energy between the real world and the Digital World…impressive…even if diabolical…" Rikka commented, almost sounding interested.
"I-I don't like that face you're doing right now…" Her partner, Leppamon, commented with a skeptical face.
In the meantime, Aria came closer to the computer. "So it's this that keeps draining their energy?" She asked.
"Which means that a good old claw attack will do the job!" Growmon added, ready to destroy it. But then…
"No, wait! We can't do that!" Paledramon stopped him.
"What?" The red dinosaur turned around.
"Paledramon is right. They're all connected to the machine. We don't know what would happen if we destroy it while they're still in. We may give them a brain death." Taiyo explained.
"Ah…barnacles…" Growmon commented.
"So how do we proceed? Do we destroy the capsules?" Aria then asked.
At that moment, Rikka gave a careful look at the computer. "I'd say that first, we take care of this in a more practical way. First, we shut this thing off and then we break the capsules." She said. "Though…I don't see any cables here. So only one thing left to do…" She then turned to Cheri. "Will you help me out?"
"Count me in!" The detective of the Lion Fang Agency gladly accepted.
So the two of them tried to hack into the computer system, hoping to shut it down, while the others watched.
"Damm…all those codes and rooms seem so complicated. I wouldn't be able to do that…" Shark commented.
"Well, you simply don't know how to use a computer, that's it," Shizuka told her.
"HEY!" Shark complained.
"How is it going?" Kouta asked. He could see that the two girls were sweating.
"Not that good…dammit!" Rikka replied.
"The security of this computer seems more advanced than we expected! It might take a while…" Cheri added.
"Saiba really thought of everything…" Yuuko commented.
"COME ON! I'LL SEND MY POSITIVE ENERGY, YOU CAN DO IT!" Yatsura shouted.
"I don't think that'll work out…" ExVeemon commented.
The two girls kept on hacking, but the operation didn't seem to proceed well. Until…
"Uh?" Rikka asked.
"What is it?" Kasai asked.
"Someone else has entered the program! It doesn't seem a threat…" The girl explained.
The presence didn't hesitate to show off themselves. They could see a man wearing a black coat with the hair tied to a tail looking at them.
"There! I've reached you! Can you receive me?" The man asked.
"Uh?" Everyone asked.
"Clear and clean. Who are you?" Rikka asked.
"I'm a sustainer of the Digital World. My name is Gennai. We finally meet, Cheshire Cat Agency and Lion Fang Agency!" The man replied, presenting himself with a happy tone.
"OH!" Everyone felt familiar with that name, especially the Cheshire Cat Agency.
"Did you say Gennai?" Kasai asked.
"You're that person that helped our parents in the past, right?" Aisu added.
"Hold on a second, didn't you turn evil? What's with this now?" Tsuna asked, a bit doubtful.
"I know, things are a mess. Just so you know, that evil man isn't really me. But, unfortunately, we don't have time for this." Gennai explained.
"Right. What can you do for us?" Rikka asked.
"Through some help from Homeostasis, I was able to get inside this computer. This system was more complex than I thought! But now that I'm here, I intend to give you a hand. I want to save the two worlds as well. I'll now damage the computer's firewall. When that is done, do your best to hack this system to shut it down. Ready?" Gennai then said.
"Sure! Give us the signal!" Cheri replied.
"Homeostasis…" Kasai thought a bit when he mentioned that name. For some reason…it made her think about the Heart Dive dream. But that didn't matter at that moment. She looked as the computer started to give error messages and started to glitch out.
"There! Go!" Gennai gave them the go and the two girls did their best. The rest of the people started to cheer up.
"GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO!"
And in the end…the computer started to shut down…
"YES!" Everyone exclaimed in unison.
"Great job, girls! With this, the Digimon can be freed and Saiba can't use their energy anymore!" Gennai told them. Naturally, Rikka and Cheri high-five.
"This means that we cut down Saiba's energy sources!" Rina said.
"HELL YEAH! One of our tasks is complete!" Tsuna said, feeling pumped up.
"Which means that all that is left is to defeat him once and for all." Aisu then said.
"That's right. Be careful about that. I can help you only here. Even if he's evil, he's surely just as resolved as you guys. And he's aided by a powerful Digimon that can corrupt others. Make sure to stay strong for that." Gennai warned them.
"Speaking of which…do you perhaps know his Digimon's identity? Homeostasis called him the HADES entity, right? Is there more we can know?" Kasai then asked.
"Unfortunately no. Even if it may sound weird to me, that Digimon is shrouded in a complete mystery. You'll have to figure it out on your own." The man replied.
"He he! Don't worry! We're detectives, after all! We'll make sure to settle things properly! We do want to be left alone after what he did!" Kyoko assured. Everyone agreed.
"Eh eh! I'll surely do! I could see your efforts from the Digital World and you are really impressive and innovative for a group of Chosen Children! Humanity really has grown. Just so you know…there are a lot of Digimon that count on you." As he said this, the screen where Gennai was in started to static. "The connection is going off. Hate to do it like this but…I have to leave. Good luck everyone!"
"Thanks!" The others told him. And with that…the screen turned off. Everyone looked at each other.
"Growmon! You can do it now." Aria told her partner.
"Eh eh! With pleasure!" Growmon didn't hesitate and with a claw attack, he destroyed the computer. Shortly after, all the detectives caught up with the remaining Digimon and put them back in the Digital World through the computer in the office, making sure they would have ended up in a safe place.
"…Well guys…we all know what to do now," Kyoko announced. Everyone else nodded. They knew it as well.
"I guess we're finally in it, aren't we? I don't know if to call it a final battle, but surely a climax!" Strikedramon commented.
"You said it!" Aisu told him.
"What do you say, Kasai? Are going to nail it?" Veedramon asked him, willing to fight as soon as possible.
Kasai looked at the others. "What do you say?" She asked.
"I have my scores to settle, and a friend to avenge. I'm willing to do this." Kumo said.
"As if I would leave you guys alone!" Shoutmon added.
"You know there's no need to answer me for that!" Kyoko said with a large smile.
"Oh boy…this is gonna be a long battle…" DORUgamon added.
"Whenever everyone is, I'll jump," Rikka said with a confident smile.
"Ah Ah! No need to add anything then!" Leppamon added.
"You know I'm ready to follow you, sister," Aisu told her with a gentle smile.
"We've been together for so long, how come I shouldn't do it again?" Strikedramon added, referring to when Kasai and Aisu were kids.
"We must perform our duty. Count me in." Chikara said.
"For once, I approve of that seriousness of yours!" Leomon told him.
"I'm ready. Guess I'll have to be more resolved than usual." Kouta said.
"We're always resolved, you know that!" BaoHackmon told him.
"And if we'll do it, we'll have to make it as great as possible," Sasuke said.
"I would say even shiny!" Gladimon added.
"I just came out from a battle and you ask me to do it other ones? Count me in, cousin." Tsuna said, liking the idea.
"I-I see that we want to go extreme…but I like it." Coredramon added.
"Oh, boy! I surely am ready for this! I don't want to leave a brawl incomplete!" Rina said.
"Completionist as always, eh, Rina?" Kabuterimon added.
"W-Well…I was able to survive this far, I'm sure nothing bad will happen, right?" Yatsura said.
"Come on, Yatsura! Where did that positivity from before go?" ExVeemon added.
"I have a few bullets in this gun. I'll make sure to use them properly!" Toriko said.
"Well said. I intend to go hardcore as well." Starmon added.
"Really, why wouldn't I now that we're close to the end?" Aria said with a happy tone.
"I surely wouldn't miss this ending like that of a movie, right?" Growmon added.
"Ever since we've joined, this has become our battle too. Stay sure that the Lion Fang Agency will be there, too." Shark said with an assuring smile.
"Indeed! And…I talk…just now." WereGarurumon added.
"We're in! Right, girls?" Both Shizuka and Cheri said.
"Yes! The sister duo joins in!" Both Sistermons said in unison.
"I'm new, but you helped me get used to this place. There's no reason I would leave you behind." Taiyo said, confident.
"We want to be more in touch here! We'll certainly come!" Paledramon added.
"Let us fight as well…it will be weird to fight our former comrades but…we want to make amend," Yuuko said.
"We need to start our redemption somewhere, right?" Nui added. GeoGreymon nodded while Hisyaryumon…couldn't say much at that moment.
After seeing that everyone was ready, Kasai messaged her mother through the phone to warn the others. "Well…there's nothing else to add then, right?"
"You heard them, Kasai! Speaking of which…" Kyoko then took the chance to grab her receiver. "Mistress Shiro, where did the mercenaries go?" She asked.
"I was able to track them down! They're at File Island in the Digital World at the moment! The stage is yours!" Shiro replied.
"File Island, eh? If I'm correct, when all of this started, I faced Cassidy back there. Luckily we have a computer right in front of us." Aisu commented.
Nothing else was needed. All of them used their Digivice to the computer.
"Ready?" Kyoko asked.
"READY!" Everyone said in unison. And with that…the portal opened.
Those many boys and girls and their Digimon felt their bodies getting warped in that other reality. They were all of different opinions and personalities…but their purpose and thought were the same. They were ready to end it. The Saiba Case was about to step into its final phase. And everything would have been decided in the Digital World.
Everyone said the same thing at the same time as they went to that world.
"It ends here, Saiba Rei!"
