Chapter 2: Ruined Party:
Utako's POV:
My name is Utako and I'm the Crown Princess of this land. My Mom (Mihiro) who is the Empress of this land had this big wall built to keep the water out and us in... but I never let that get in my way. I always sneak out to go to the water.
"This is a bad idea," says Porcus.
"I can't help it," I said, "I just love the sea!" I then jumped in.
Kikuko's POV:
I'm the Daughter of Kuroki the Onmyoji and Sawako while Kikujiro is the Son of Sawaki and Shrine Priestess Kuromi. Kikujiro and I have been friends with Utako ever since we were little.
Kikujiro and I were looking for Utako.
"She's always doing this," I said.
"She loves the sea," says Kikujiro.
"Well, we better find her," I said, "and remind her of the party."
Porcus' POV:
Here I am, once again, babysitting a teenager. I should be retired, but no! I'm stuck trying to keep some kid from collecting items from the half that her parent tells her to stay away from. If she falls in love with a merman and trades her voice, I'll be creeped out.

Utako's POV:
I then found a strange locket. I picked it up.

I returned to the surface and saw Kikuko and Kikujiro.
"Hey, what's up," I said.
"The party," says Kikuko.
"Oh no, I forgot," I said. I then raced to get ready.
. . .
After struggling to get worried, I finally made it to the party. Everyone thinks I'm weird. Some make fun of me for talking to fish. The light was then on me. Then a boy came and asked me to dance. As we were dancing, Porcus accidently got on the table and the chef chased him. There was one disaster after another, and the party was ruined. It then got worst when everyone saw me talking to Porcus and laughed.

Pearl's human name is Mihiro which means a stream or water in Japanese. Mihiro is also a Gender-Neutral Name. Kikujiro is the Son of Kuromi/Jill. Kikuko is the Daughter of Kuroki/Peter. In the next chapter, Utako learns something about the locket.
