Knowing you Book 5: chapter 4 – The New Enemy
The senshi and royals were just starting to get into a routine with school, training, caring for Chibi-Usa and dealing with Usagi's pregnancy. Mamoru had Ikuko and Kenji make arrangements so that Usagi could go back to home schooling as there was no way for someone to always be with her at school if she had a fainting spell without trying to explain the situation to others. Usagi also preferred this as she was getting anxious about people noticing her weight gain. Although she was still early on considering the length of lunarian pregnancy the weight of four babies is still that.
Usagi and Mamoru spent the day working on schoolwork between Usagi's many naps and afternoons were spent playing with Chibi-Usa. No on could get her to open up as to why she was there or what happened to her parents. In hindsight Ami thought they should have asked her older self before she left.
Rei's school was having a carnival and so the senshi, generals and even Usagi and Mamoru made plans to take Chibi-Usa. "It will be nice to get out and have some fun," Usagi told Mamoru as she spun around in a new A-line dress that he had bought her for this occasion.
"Careful with the spinning and you like it? It is very concealing, and I hope it isn't too tight." Mamoru said wrapping his arms around her.
"Oh, Mamo-chan. I am fine I haven't had any dizzy or fainting spells in over a week," Usagi said happily.
Mamoru smiled, he was happy to see his wife happy and that she had some energy. It felt like forever since she had the energy to leave the house. "Come on, Usa and Mamo. I don't want to miss the carnival," Called the five-year-old Chibi-Usa. They smiled as they left their room and the family headed to the carnival.
The carnival wasn't anything fancy just your typical school festival with booths set up by different classes and clubs.. Chibi-usa seemed to be amazed and was pulling her care-givers every direction as she couldn't decide where she wanted to go first. The senshi and there partners soon arrived with the exception of Rei who was helping out at one of the club booths doing fortune telling. Seeing that Usagi seemed to be looking a little tired, although she wouldn't admit it Mamoru turned to the newly arrived group, "Do you think you all could watch Chibi-Usa as I want to get Usako something to eat and let her sit down for a bit as we have been here for a couple hours already?"
The group nodded and Yuro picked up the little girl and giving her a shoulder ride. The group broke up with Hotaru following her boyfriend as he raced around with a version of her best friend on his shoulders shrieking in excitement.
Minako, Makoto and their boyfriends headed to look for Rei and see how the booth was making out. Ami and Ryo went to see what the science classes at this school were up to.
"Mamo-chan, I am fine. We could have walked around some more," Usagi complained as Mamoru had her sit down on a bench in the shade with an iced drink and a bow bun.
"Can you blame me for being protective of my family? I know you are feeling full of energy today but let me …" Mamoru trailed off as just as his had brushed a strand of hair from her face he almost fell over as a vision of an exploding city hit him like a ton of bricks."
"Mamo-chan? Mamo, and you were worried about me?" She laughed. "Are you ok?"
Mamoru looked up very seriously,"Usako, I think the enemy is here."
"Enemy? But there hasn't been…" She was cut off by someone screaming and a group of students running past in fear.
Minako heard the screams and raced toward them to find a monster standing over ashes and draining the energy of a teacher. Looking around to make sure that the coast was clear and some of her friends were actually with her commanded, "Henshi yo!"
Usagi seeing the same scene that Minako had tried to get up to help the senshi but Mamoru pushed her back down and whispered, "Not in your condition!" /I would die if you or the babies got hurt. Leave it to the others./ He growled almost commanded.
/Mamoru, how dare you? I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself and OUR children are safer than Chibi-Usa. Now, let me up!/
Mamoru slowly moved allowing his girlfriend to get to her feet. /Tranquility, where are you and Chibi-Usa?/
/On the other side of the carnival. I heard the screams and Hota and I took Chibi-usa in the other direction. We are trying to convince her to let us take her to the playground./ Came her twin brother's response.
/Good, Keep her safe, while I try to do the same with your sister/ Mamoru cut into the twin's telepathic conversation. The battle they could hear raging a short distance away and then the scream of a monster turning to dust. The couple relaxed slightly as a man appeared hovering over the school. "So, you must be the sailor senshi of legend. I am Rubeus of the Dark Moon and I come from Crystal Tokyo in the future."
Kaze had heard enough and nodding to Tepeu and the two sword wielding warriors leapt into the air but hit a force field as what they could only guess was Rubeus' ship came down from the clouds and knocked them flying back to earth. "Pitiful, no wonder you don't survive." With that he took one last look at the four warriors that had taken out his droid and laughed as he and his ship vanished.
Yuro and Hotaru had been trying to talk the young child in their care into leaving the school carnival when she froze. The two teens turned to see what had caused the fear to appear in their charges eyes and saw a red haired man floating above the school. They stood helpless as their friends leapt to attack to be sent flying by some kind of shield. They looked at each other and then at the terrified child and knew the best thing they could do was to keep her safe and try to calm her down.
Yuro picked her up and followed Hotaru as she headed towards a nearby store to get Chibi-Usa away from the fighting and hopefully get some information from her as to why she was so terrified, granted most people are scared when the enemies of the past had attacked most aren't frozen in fear or terror.
Once inside Hotaru used her Saturn powers to calm her friend and to see if she could coax out anything through her psychic powers. Yuro caught her as she was flung backwards by the same vision that Mamoru had gotten of the exploding city. Chibi-usa pulled her legs up to her chest and just started sobbing.
