Chapter 3: Eagle Counterattacks

After intermission...

"Is everyone ready to get down with the fourth and final match of the second rounds?" Blader DJ announced from his announcer box. "Because here come the players. Here it is; the guy with the eye of the eagle, Tsubasa." he introduced Earth Eagle's owner. "Hold tight, folks. Ryuga has come a-calling." he introduced L-Drago's owner next.

"Here we go, Ryuga." Tsubasa got his wits back together.

"You're all alone." Ryuga snorted. "What happened to your friend, Phoenix? I'll take both of you at once if you want."

"Save it." Tsubasa retorted. "I'm more than enough for you by myself. I'm going to pay you back for last time."

"That's a real shame." Ryuga scoffed. "Throwing your future away after someone worked so hard to save it."

"Ready." Blader DJ started the match.

"I can't keep taking L-Drago's three- strike attacks forever." Tsubasa made his decision. "Eagle!" he pulled Eagle back and had his Bey circle the Bey-dish.

"That won't work." Ryuga sent L-Drago after Eagle.

"Not today!" Tsubasa had Eagle dodge L-Drago's assault. When I battled with Ryuga at the Dark Nebula organization, I made a mistake about when to make my move. He recalled, having Eagle dodge L-Drago two more times. In order to match L-Drago's power, I used my speical move right away, which just ended up allowing my power to be drained. I panicked and used my best tactic, the counterattack, before he had unleashed his dark move. I won't make the same mistake again. I have only one opening; the moment that he unleashes his dark move. Until then... I must reserve my power and put it all in one attack.

"So, that's your plan." Ryuga snorted. "Trying to be clever, are we?" he had L-Drago spin in the center of the Bey-dish. "I can't wait all day. You're not an eagle, you're a chicken. L-Drago!" he released L-Drago's evil energy.

"If you're caught by that, it's all over." Tsubasa realized what was happening "Fly now, Eagle. Is that all you've got, Ryuga? Bring it on."

"If that's what you want, no problem." Ryuga smirked. "Your wish is granted. Try this on for size." he charged up an energy ball with his hands. "Dark Move!"

"Now, Eagle." Tsubasa gave his Bey the order.

"Dragon Emperor Soaring Bite Strike!" Ryuga released his attack.

"Eagle, Counter Stance!" Tsubasa barked.

"It's not over yet." Ryuga retorted, Eagle was blocking out L-Drago's attack.

"I will never quit this." Tsubasa swore. "Hang in there, Eagle. Hold your ground."

"Just because you were able to stop the attack, don't think for a second you've defeated my dark move." Ryuga snarled. "What?" he exclaimed, Eagle had managed to fend off L-Drago's attack.

"I'll take over this fight now." Tsubasa grinned. "Eagle. Diving Crush! I'm not done yet. Eagle." he had Eagle dive in for a continuous assault. "I'll decide it with one last move. Special Move: Metal Wing Smash!"

"The Dragon Emperor Soaring Bite Strike won't be done in by that." Ryuga snorted. "It ends here. I'll admit, you've done well to fight against L-Drago and I this long. It's really been very entertaining, but it's all over now." he let loose the evil energy in his body. L-Drago tossed Eagle high into the air, the over-flowing evil energy utterly destroying the Bey-dish. "Dragon Emperor Soaring Bite Strike!" he took out Eagle with one attack. "What's wrong?" he mocked. "If you think you can dodge it, give it a try. If you can stop it, then go ahead and stop it, why don't you? I congratulate you for being able to make me some of my real strength." he then proceeded to drain Tsubasa of his energy. "As a reward, I'll take extra special care and stealing that power from you. Feathers?" he scowled, seeing a flurry of silvery-white feathers descend from the sky and cutting off his forced connection to Tsubasa and preventing him from draining Eagle's owner any further. "So, I see. That girl stepped in again. It's finished. You were reckless and foolish to even consider challenging me in a battle at all." he reclaimed L-Drago. "Thank that girl for saving you."

In the inner chamber of the Temple of Mist Valley...

"My lady, you can't keep doing this." Dunamis pleaded, Seina having expanded her aura to cut off L-Drago's dark power.

"Dunamis," Seina started. "My past self... she made a mistake, didn't she?"

"My lady?" Dunamis questioned.

"What if Hades," Seina explained. "Isn't meant to be sealed but purified?"
