Chapter 5: Fierce Battle! Lion vs. Dragon

Back in the stadium...

"At last, the second battle of the semi-finals is ready to go." Blader DJ started his commentary. "There's no tomorrow for the loser in this one because there is only one more spot in the Battle Bladers final. Will the dragon swallow up the lion or will the lion take down the dragon with its awesome jungle power? It's Ryuga versus Kyoya! This big, bad battle that will decide the final pairing for Battle Bladers start right now."

As Kyoya was approaching the Bey-dish, the stadium roof was sent crashing down into the arena, announcing Ryuga's arrival.

"You don't scare me." Kyoya retorted, using Leone's tornado to blow away the rubble. "There's nothing you can do that I can't do better. Ryuga, get ready to be smashed into the ground."

"No need to." Ryuga mocked. "Because you're the one who'll kiss the pavement. If you want to run, now's your chance."

"Who do you think you're talking to?" Kyoya snapped. "The name's Kyoya; I don't run, so you better hide."

Both opponents wasted no time in releasing their Beys.

"Go, L-Drago, crush it to bits with one hit." Ryuga grinned.

"Not wasting time." Kyoya growled. "Leone!"

"You were all talking no action, my friend." Ryuga mocked, seemingly having blown Kyoya off his feet. "You may sound tough, but you need more than hot air to win."

"That's a good one." Kyoya fired back. "Don't think that such a trivial thing will defeat me. Ryuga, you're just one small step on my way to get to that final where Ginga waits for me."

"You're babbling again." Ryuga snarled and sent L-Drago to attack again.

"Do you think that same move will work on me?" Kyoya barked. "Lion Gale Force Wall!" he used the flying rubble to attack L-Drago. "How'd you like that? Leone's got more than defense in him. Time to fight the fight now."

"You're full of yourself." Ryuga taunted. "It's gonna ruin you." he sent in the unfazed L-Drago to attack Leone again. "Dark Move: Dragon Emperor Soaring Bite Strike!"

"Answer that attack." Kyoya went on the defensive, L-Drago was relentless in its charge.

"It's no use." Ryuga mocked. "That level of attack will do nothing to stop me."

"Leone!" Kyoya sent on his lion spirit to counter, the shockwave sending Leo's owner flying back.

"It's over." Ryuga grinned.

"I'm not done." Kyoya declared.

"Why aren't you down yet?" Ryuga glared. "What's keeping you standing up still?"

"Don't make me laugh." Kyoya snorted. "Did you really think you can defeat me with that borrowed power of yours? L-Drago is a Bey that steals the power of its defeated opponents to become stronger. There's no way I'll be brought down by the power stolen from others. If you have any pride at all as a Blader, then try to defeat me using only yourself and your Bey's natural power and skill. Can you do that, Ryuga? What's wrong? You're afraid to fight your own battles? Is that it? Do you need robbed power? Because you've got no confidence in yourself?"

"Do you really think I'll fall for such an obvious taunt?" Ryuga mocked. "I'll accept your challenge, but I'm afraid you're regret it later. Get ready for the fight of your life, Kyoya. You're not even worth the dirt on my shoes as an opponent." he snarled, both Beys were clashing head-on.

"Interesting." Kyoya grinned. "This really is kind of funny, isn't it, Ryuga?

"I don't get the joke." Ryuga sneered, L-Drago having drilled Leone into the wall. "Looks like you've put more energy into words than action.

"Don't mess with me." Kyoya glared. "Push back hard, Leone."

"Nice try there." Ryuga praised, Leone snapping itself free. "Looks like you're still able to entertain me a little bit more. Go, L-Drago!" he growled, having L-Drago attack Leone continuously. "You think you're so great? I'll take care of you in one shot."

"But I have the Blader spirit." Kyoya countered. "This is how Leone and I fight and win."

"How nice for you two." Ryuga snorted, Leone closing in for an attack. "Now I'm just gonna crush that spirit like a bug."

"This is far from over." Kyoya snapped. "Go ahead and try but you'll never touch my Blader spirit. You can't keep me down." another explosion sent him skidding back. "I'll never be crushed, not now or ever."

"If you insist." Ryuga renewed his attack. "You're no match for me. However, I can't remember anyone taking so many of my direct hits without completely collapsing. I give you credit for that. But it ends here."

"I'm putting all I've got into this one final attack." Kyoya was ready to end the fight.

"Quiet you." Ryuga snarled. "I'll finish you up right here and right now. Wha?" he gaped when L-Drago's spirit turned to him and infused him with its evil energy. "Playtime is over, little worm." the possessed Ryuga droned. "The only way to heal our wounds... we need Bladers' power to heal our wounds."

"Go ahead and try." Kyoya snorted. "But I'll never let you steal from me my Blader Spirit. Special Move: King Lion Furious Blast Shot! Shatter him. Let's use everything that we've got left."

"It's no use." Ryuga mocked. "Dark Move: Dragon Emperor Soaring Destruction!"

"The winner is... L-Drago!" Blader DJ announced after the dust cloud died down.

"Kyoya!" Ginga and the others leapt down from the stands to their friend.

"Is that..." Hyoma's eyes widened as Leone's energy sphere curled around Kyoya, blocking off L-Drago's black energy tendril. "Leone?"
