Y/N stared at herself in the mirror of the vanity in the bridal room. There was almost no point in concealer or eye makeup. How did any bride do it to begin with? Most of them cried because they were so happy. How did they keep streaks of black from running down their faces? Y/N grabbed yet another tissue from the box to her right and angrily wiped at her eyes. There were so many reasons for her tears. She could be generic and just say she was sad she was marrying someone she didn't know. She could just say she was crying because she was mad she was marrying someone she didn't want to. But it always went deeper than that. Completely factoring Ignis out of the picture entirely, it went deeper than that.
Her mother should be standing behind her right now, gently combing and pinning her hair up. Lightly brushing her cheeks with blush. Carefully applying a gentle curl with the hot curling iron. Telling her all the sordid tales of things men will do to drive her crazy and how to put up with them and what to expect on her wedding night even though the internet has long taught her well.
Her best friend should be sitting beside her crying along with her about how quickly their lives are moving forward. About how now they are getting married and soon will be moms together. How much they love each other and will always be friends. How they should maybe stop drinking so much champagne because they are getting too weepy already and the wedding hasn't even started.
She should be getting ready to put on the elaborate gown all the women who ruled before her wore. Readying her neck muscles for her head to adorn the heavy crown jewels of her family. Readying her feet to surely blister in the ancient heels her great grandmother wore when she wed her great grandfather, Andrikeas.
Instead…
Instead she is wearing a gown bought for her by the King of a foreign land she had never been to until now. The same King who was partially responsible for the stripping of her title. She would instead never wear her family jewels or possibly see them again.
Instead, her maid of honor is actually a matron of honor and is a woman she only met a short time ago as well. She is neither from this land nor Y/N's. Her best friend is thousands of miles away across the ocean.
And her mother…instead her mother has barely spoken but a few words to her since her departure. She highly doubts she will be even hearing from her today. Probably not even a gift. Though, what could her mother give her that she wouldn't throw immediately into the trash. Perhaps a ticket home, even just to visit.
Does she get a honeymoon? Would Altissia be an option if she did? She highly doubted it but it was worth a shot.
"Oh darling, not again!" a woman cried out. Y/N quickly grabbed a tissue and wiped the moisture from her cheeks. "You would think it was a funeral today and not a wedding, heavens!" she smiled. Y/N knew the woman meant well. But she couldn't help but wonder how much this woman knew. It quite literally was a funeral.
Y/N carefully wiped her eyes, being sure not to smear the makeup so carefully applied there moments ago by the makeup artist hired to help her. She wiggled in her seat a bit too. Her dress almost seemed a bit…looser. Had she lost weight? It hadn't been that long since she tried it on. Only a few short weeks ago. A knock on the door startled her, almost causing her to poke her eye with the tissue she was using to wipe it. One of the ladies answered it for her and returned a moment later with a tablet in her hands.
"Mr. Sciencia sent his wedding gift over for you, my lady," she said.
"Gift? I…I didn't know we were supposed to get gifts! I didn't-" before she could finish her sentence, the lady turned the tablet around in her hands, showing Y/N the screen. "OH MY SIX!" she exclaimed.
"Girl those better not be tears I see!" LeAnn's voice scolded.
"How am I seeing you right now?" Y/N asked, taking the tablet from the lady's outstretched arms.
"Fancy royal technology," LeAnn shrugged. "Ignis had a video tablet sent over to me. The boy cut it close too. It only arrived this morning. Thankfully with VERY thorough instructions, which I'm sure he wrote himself. I'm not supposed to let anyone know I have it. Well, anyone here. The King gave his go ahead I guess to let me have one. But I can get in like, super huge trouble if it gets out of my hands. Which almost makes me want to send it back. But how fun that now we can video chat sometimes!"
"I…I…." Y/N could barely speak. It had been so long since she had seen LeAnn's face. And Ignis. Ignis did this for her.
"Well, now that I'm here, show me the dress! Girl I don't think I even got to see a picture of it!"
"O-Okay!" Y/N stammered a bit before gently propping the tablet up on the vanity in front of her and standing back so her friend could see her wedding dress.
"Holy shit girl! That man is gonna crap himself! You look amazing! Oh, and just FYI….so does he! I got a little sneak peak of him when he logged the video tablet on!" her friend winked at her. "He's a dorky little cutey! And so sweet! He tried really hard to actually get me there, ya know."
"He did?" Y/N asked quietly.
"Yeah. But with the boat schedules and visitors process, even for royals, it just wasn't able to happen. Plus with things getting a bit tense here-"
"Wait, what do you mean?" Y/N interrupted her.
"Nothing, just…stupid political stuff. Nothing you need to bother yourself with on your wedding day!"
Y/N sat back down in front of the vanity and stared at her friend. She could feel her throat tightening back up and tears threatening to flood her eyes again.
"NO! No no no! Don't ruin your makeup! What are you crying over, babe?" LeAnn gently asked her friend.
"I just miss you so much! It's been so hard here. I wish you were here with me. Just come live here! You could be my…lady in waiting!" The two of them laughed.
"I thought you told me you were moving to some busted small apartment across town! Only one bedroom. Where would I even stay?" her friend joked back.
"In the bedroom with me. We'll make Ignis sleep on the couch."
"After what he did today, you gotta let him have at least a little action tonight," LeAnn winked again.
Before Y/N could mention anything about her wedding night fears, Luna opened the door, lightly knocking as she did so, and stepped in.
"Are you ready? It's about time we make our way down to the Grand Hall."
Y/N glanced over at her friend with sad eyes.
"If you think I'm leaving now, you're mistaken girl! I was promised a seat in the front row!"
"I just want more time to talk to you!"
"Well, thanks to your hubby to be, we will have plenty of time to talk now! Now go! Get your gorgeous ass down that aisle so I can bawl like a baby at how beautiful my bestie is while she's getting married!"
"LeAnn, I…." Y/N started. "I don't…." She couldn't finish her sentence.
"I know. We'll talk, okay? It will all be alright. I know it will!" her friend gently assured her.
Y/N nodded her head up and down while dabbing at her eyes again. A woman came and took the tablet from the vanity and walked out of the room with it, given special instructions on where to place it.
"Hey," Luna gently coaxed Y/N to look up at her. "You're marrying one of the best men here. I have no doubt you'll be taken care of. Everyone thinks we royals were dealt the lucky hand in life. But little do they know…our lives aren't ours at all. But of all the people that could have been chosen for you…Ignis is the best. I promise." Y/N sniffed as she nodded her head again, still unable to speak. "Well, aside from Noctis that is," Luna giggled.
This brought out a small giggle in Y/N too. The two ladies walked out of the bridal room and started down the hallway. Y/N could hear the elaborate organ playing music as guests found their seats. As they neared the double doors leading into the Grand Room, a thought suddenly struck her. Who would walk her down the aisle? Her father wasn't here to do so. Would she be walking alone? Would they have someone surly like Cor or Drautos do so? A deep chuckle brought her out of her thoughts.
"Ignis is gonna shit himself when he sees you," Gladio mumbled in her direction with a smirk on his lips. "Ready Lady Luna?" he asked as he held out his arm for her to grab.
"I'll see you up there!" she whispered in Y/N's ear. "If you need me, just reach or glance back, okay?"
The large double doors opened and Gladio led Lunafreya down the aisle and up to the stage at the end of the room. When the doors closed again, Y/N realized she wasn't standing there alone. The King was standing across from her.
"You are free to say no, of course, but I wished to ask if you would like an escort down the aisle. It is only fitting for a Princess to be escorted by a King, don't you agree?" he smiled.
Y/N both wanted to smack that smile off his face and hug him for not leaving her alone.
"Thank you. That is most kind," she quietly said, wrapping her hand delicately around his arm and facing the two doors before them, her other hand grabbing the bouquet being held out for her to take by a castel worker.
She took several deep breaths, waiting for the moment the doors opened. Every second seemed to tick by slower than the last. She wanted time to both stop completely and speed up at the same time. To either cease to exist at all or just hurry up so she could get this over with. With one last shaky breath, the doors finally opened before them.
The hall was full. So many people were standing, waiting for her arrival. She never imagined this many people would be here today. Who were they all? Did Ignis know this many people? Were they here for the show? The day the Princess lost her title for good?
Those thoughts and all others seemed to leave her mind when her eyes met Ignis' piercing green eyes at the end of the aisle. His mouth opened a bit in what looked like shock and he didn't seem to be breathing. He looked…handsome. She had seen him a tux before. And he was never dressed down any time she had seen him. But today he looked…more. Just, more. Her favorite purple flowers were clipped to his jacket. In fact, they lined the aisle she was slowly walking down right now. She was walking? She didn't remember her feet moving. Slowly. Very slowly her feet were moving. She was thankful for the King's arm she was holding onto. Without it, she was most certain she wouldn't be standing right now.
"Everything alright?" King Regis whispered her way.
"Yes," she simply whispered back.
Glancing around a bit more, she saw Gladio smirking as he kept glancing between her and Ignis. Noctis looked bored as usual and Prompto looked just as shocked and in awe as Ignis did. Lunafreya was the only girl on her side and the pang she felt snapped her back to reality.
When she finally got to the stage in the front, all the sounds around her started to blend into one. Her ears began ringing and her throat slowly tightened. She wasn't even sure of what the man in front of them was saying. The next thing she knew, Regis was patting her arm and handing it over for Ignis to take. She stood at the bottom of the steps looking up at Ignis. She was supposed to go up and join him right? Yes. She knew that much. His eyebrows pinched together a quick moment as if questioning if she was alright before she finally ascended the small staircase. Luna reached for her bouquet and took it from her, smiling brightly. Y/N's face just felt cold. Like the blood was gone from it. She still couldn't hear. Everything was still muted.
Focus on your breathing.
Focus on your breathing.
Focus on your breathing.
"Citizens of Insomnia…."
Breathe.
Breathe.
Breathe.
"...the joining of these two before the Six-"
In….out.
In…out.
In…out.
"...with rings, love, and a promise between souls-"
Deep breaths.
Deep breaths.
Deep breaths.
Y/N was snapped out of it as her hand was raised and a coolness was slipped onto her finger. A ring. A ring? She never had a ring until now. Not even an engagement ring. A princess cut moissanite twist on a white gold band. It was so beautiful she almost missed the words Ignis started saying.
"Receive this ring as a token of my pure and true love for you, and I promise to forever more be your loving and devoted husband. Life is the magic that brought me into the world. Fate is the force that brought us together. Trust is our bond, love is …will be our guide. I pledge to honor you, protect you, and be by your side.. As your husband, I vow to always listen and never hurt you, to always kiss you and never shame you, and to always love and never leave you. With an open heart, pure spirit, and sense of pure amazement, I take you as my wife."
Y/N wasn't sure what to think. Those words were…beautiful. And he chose to say them to…her. Did he write those himself? Men rarely ever wrote their own vows. Oh no. Vows. She didn't write any vows. Was she supposed to? Surely he would have said something?
"Y/N, please repeat after me," the officiant thankfully said, and she repeated her vows as he said them
"I give you my hand, my heart, and my word that I will be a loving, devoted wife. As your wife, I promise to be loyal, support you through good times and bad, stand beside you through sickness and poverty as well as good health and wealth, pledge to comfort you in your times of need, and to always stand beside you through each of life's trials. Take this ring as my pledge to you."
"It is before the eyes of The Six and His Royal Council that I officially declare you both husband and wife. You may seal your vows with a kiss."
Y/N's eyes suddenly got big as she looked at Ignis. A kiss? They hadn't kissed yet! She was expected to kiss him now? In front of everyone? She would do no such thing! She didn't want to-
Ignis grabbed her face with both hands and tilted it in such a way that when he tilted his, the back of his head was facing the audience. He brought his lips gently to her cheek and no one even knew of their little blunder. As he pulled away., he winked at her and smiled. Even though she didn't kiss him, he still looked the happiest she had seen him since arriving in Insomnia. He took her hand in his and Luna handed her back her bouquet. Everyone stood and began clapping as he helped her down the staircase.
That was it? It was over? Had she truly zoned out for the whole thing? Ignis was leading her down a hallway away from the Grand Hall. The only people they were passing were posted Glaive members acting as security. Before they got to the Feast Hall, Ignis turned to the left and brought her into a room. Walking a little further, he brought her into another smaller room off of that one.
"Before the others get here, I thought you might need some time to yourself," Ignis said, looking at her while holding both of her hands in his, a little difficult with her still holding her bouquet. "I wanted to tell you while we were alone though that… you…you look…absolutely beautiful. And to say thank you."
Y/N opened her mouth to ask her what he was thanking her for when it hit her. She did it. She was married. She went through with it. He was thanking her for going through everything she did and marrying him. Her mouth closed and her eyes welled up with tears before a sob escaped her mouth. Before Ignis could say anything else, Y/N backed away and sat in one of the chairs. He wasn't sure what to do that would make her feel any better and heard the door to the other room open.
"I'll be in the other room when you are ready," Ignis told her quietly, before slipping back into the first room they entered.
Y/N could hear the commotion beyond the door but stayed to herself until she knew she didn't have to anymore.
"HEY! There he is! A single man no longer!"
"Well if it isn't the married man in the flesh!"
"How does it feel to officially be tied down now, eh Specs?"
"If you don't mind waiting here, I'll go get the car," Ignis told Y/N as the elevator they were in with Gladio and Promto reached its destination in the car garage. "Prompto, do you mind waiting with her to keep watch?"
"Sure thing, Iggy!" Promtpo responded enthusiastically.
Gladio walked with Ignis as they both went to get their vehicles. He was bringing Prompto home on his way to his own apartment.
"So…any fun plans for tonight?" Gladio smirked, raising and lowering his eyebrows a few times in a row.
"Probably not. Y/N seems tired and would most likely wish to settle into bed for the night," Ignis replied, paying no attention to his friend's antics.
"Settle into bed…together?" he asked, suggestively.
Ignis sighed.
"Most likely not."
"So where the hell are you sleeping then? The floor? On your wedding night?"
"I'll take the couch. No big deal, Gladio."
"Come on man! It's your wedding night! The least she could do is let you share the bed." Ignis gave his friend a hard stare. "To sleep! There doesn't even have to be any funny business! Although if you truly ask me the very least she could do is give you a handy!"
"What we choose to do or not do on our wedding night is nobody's business. But thank you for your input," Ignis replied.
"Don't get all mad and grumpy! I'm just saying!"
Ignis knew his friend had been drinking and was a bit looser than usual. He also knew exactly how Gladio's mind worked. He wasn't mad at his friend. He just also knew how he had always kind of hoped his wedding night would go and how he knew it was going to end up going. He couldn't help the fact that he was a little bit disappointed, himself, although he would never voice that out loud.
The ride to the apartment was pretty silent. The wedding reception had been quite lovely, if you asked either Ignis or Y/N. The food was delicious. The music was exquisite. Y/N was even offered a dance with Ignis' father, which made her feel both part of his family and not so horrible about her own not being there. She even found herself smiling and laughing a few times with Ignis and his friends. Now that everything was settling back down, things were starting to hit her again.
Ignis unlocked the door and looked over at her. He knew it was custom to carry the bride over the threshold but wasn't sure how she would react to his simply lifting her into the air suddenly.
"Should I…?" he started.
Y/N wasn't quite sure what he was speaking about before it dawned on her.
"Oh! No…that's …it's fine. Thank you," she quickly said, before pushing the door open and stepping inside herself. She sort of always had the dream of her man carrying her into their home, or room, herself but it felt a bit…out of place for the two of them.
"I know a lot of your stuff is in boxes right now. I'm sorry you didn't have a day to come and unpack things before now. But hopefully everything is labeled and packed well and you should be able to at least find your night things with ease."
Y/N didn't have much, but she spent her last few days at the Citadel and therefore things were packed rather last minute. She had her suitcases and only a couple boxes stacked in the bedroom that had been brought over by staff today.
"I don't believe you saw the bedroom when you were here last. I'll, um…it's this way," Ignis stammered a bit.
Y/N nodded and slowly followed him. She looked around a bit on her way there, noticing a small round dining set just off to the side of the kitchen. Ignis had gotten a dining room table. Something she had yelled at him about when she was last here.
As they entered the single bedroom at the end of the short hallway, Y/N looked around. The room was simple but elegant. Very Ignis. The bed had a large, oak headboard that was slightly comforter on the bed looked very thick and was a deep black color with royal purple trim to match the pillows that lay on top of it. There was a black chest of drawers as well as a black dresser with a large mirror attached to it. Double doors to what was probably a closet were to the left as well as an open door to what looked like an attached bathroom.
Y/N stood looking around a few moments before tears began to well up again in her eyes. This day was such a roller coaster of emotions. One moment it was not so horrible, the next she wanted nothing more than to die. This was it, she supposed. The moment she had dreaded the most. Was she just supposed to lay down? Take what he gave her and ignore it and disassociate the best she could? Or should she fight him off? Give him a true piece of her mind for both herself and other women out there who may have had to endure the same thing? It was in her contract. She had to produce an heir with Ignis. When did they expect them to? And when did he expect to? It was their wedding night. Surely he felt owed something, didn't he?
"Are…are you alright? I know it may take a little getting used to to call this place home. But it really is a nice building. The view from the bedroom is quite spectacular if you wish to see-"
"Just do it already," she whispered.
"I'm sorry?" he asked.
"You know what I mean. Don't make me say it," she responded just as quietly.
"I'm sorry but…I don't."
"Just fuck me already, okay?" she half yelled. "It's what you expect, right? It's what everyone expects. It's what you want. It's what two people do, right?"
"Y/N…." Ignis started, sounding half appalled with his eyes held open large. "I would…this is….I was simply….I don't expect- "
"Oh, come on Ignis-"
"No!" he interrupted, so unlike himself. "Who gave you the idea anything was to happen tonight? Was it Gladio? If he said something to you, please tell me!"
"Gladio? No, I-"
"Tell me who said something!" he demanded.
"Nobody in particular said anything. I just…assumed. Isn't that what…everyone does?"
"Y/N…" he started. "I understand our's is….a marriage that is not…normal, I suppose is the only word I can find right now. I won't say it is not one of love because…I do believe we could get there if we tried. And…I am not without feelings for you. But that…step…is one of complete trust and love. And I will not partake it in until we are there. And no one will force us to be there. Alright?"
Y/N couldn't bring herself to speak. The tears running down her face now were not of fear and hatred but….a sense of almost security and protection from the man in front of her. Something she hadn't felt in a long time. She settled for nodding her head up and down in agreement with him.
"If you don't mind, I simply wish to shower quickly before sleeping out on the couch. You may, of course, take the bed. The bathroom in the hallway is only a half bath. I'm afraid I need to shower in here, if that's alright."
"Of course," she whispered, wiping her nose with the back of her hand, so unlady-like but she didn't care at that moment.
Ignis nodded at her then went to the tall chest of drawers, grabbing a few things from two different drawers before making his way into the bathroom and shutting the door behind him. Y/N wasn't sure what to do with herself while he was in there. She knew it probably wouldn't take him long but still felt odd staying in the bedroom. She also felt odd walking around the apartment. She remembered he had mentioned the view from the bedroom was really nice so she walked over to the floor to ceiling window and pulled the large curtains back. He wasn't wrong. The view of the city from here was actually quite grand. She could make out the Citadel in the distance. A part of her wasn't sure how she would feel being able to see it every day. But it did look quite lovely all lit up at night.
She also got to thinking about the day. The whole wedding. The day she had been dreading since before she even moved here. This was it. This was what everything was leading up to. What she had been trying to avoid and get herself out of for weeks. The day that ruined her life for good. But…it wasn't all that terrible. Everyone was so kind. She had so many gifts to open and go through. Her dress was everything she could have wanted, besides her family's heirloom. She did miss all the rituals of a proper Altissian wedding. She wished they were able to incorporate that more into the ceremony. Or maybe they did and she just wasn't paying attention. She missed the placing of the royal jewels on her head. Her mother being there. She hadn't even heard from her mother today. That was still so peculiar to her. Her best friend being there. But…thanks to Ignis, she kind of was! She was able to see everything. She was able to watch it all in real time. Y/N was able to speak with her and see her face. It was one of the greatest gifts he could have given her.
"Spectacular, isn't it?" a voice behind her spoke. She suddenly spun around, putting a hand to her chest in fright. "I didn't mean to spook you," Ignis replied.
Y/N took a moment to look him over. His hair was combed down. He wore a simple white t-shirt and black jogging pants. There was nothing special about the way he looked, but in that moment, there was something very special about him to her.
"After what he did today, you got to at least give him some action tonight," LeAnn's words echoed in her mind.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Certainly," he responded.
"Why were your vows so different from mine?"
"Oh, I…I wrote mine myself. I hope that was alright with you."
"Can I give you your wedding gift now?" she suddenly blurted out, almost interrupting him after hearing his answer.
"Um, s-sure," Ignis stammered a bit.
Y/N walked up to Ignis, a bit slowly and still unsure of herself. She gently grabbed his face with her two hands before slowly leaning in, tilting her head ever so slightly…and placing a gentle kiss on his lips. Ignis was a bit too stunned at first to react, but she slowly felt his lips press back into hers. Their lips stayed locked together a few seconds before Ignis pulled his away and immediately pressed them back to hers in another kiss. Something about the moment led Y/N to allow the second kiss. Let Ignis kissing her back be part of his gift as well. She wasn't afraid right now. She wasn't scared or hurt or angry. She just…was. And it felt good for once. Ignis put his hand on her hip and it pulled her out of the moment a bit. She slowly pulled from the kiss and Ignis' hand drifted down her thigh and back to rest at his side once again. Ignis opened his eyes as they pulled away and just looked at her, taking a couple breaths before speaking.
"Thank you," he whispered, and smiled.
Something about sharing their first kiss privately together meant more to him than kissing in front of everyone today at the ceremony.
Before he could walk out of the bedroom Y/N stopped him one last time.
"Hey, guess who was a no-show at our wedding today."
Ignis frowned a moment, wondering who she would be happy to not see. Then it dawned on him. Maybe their purple haired friend troubles were over. And he smiled back.
The following week after the wedding was a bit odd. They were both given the week off to themselves to get to know each other better and enjoy themselves. It's a bit hard when you aren't even sleeping in the same bed. Y/N kept to herself most of the time. Ignis had cleared a large space for her in the closet and they ordered her her own dresser and vanity for in the bedroom. Things were getting a bit crowded and she often complained about wanting to move. Ignis hated the thought of paying to get out of their lease agreement early but was looking at other places on the internet in his spare time.
While he was supposed to have been off work, there was simply too much that couldn't just go untouched for a week. He did all of his work from home instead of the office, often faxing and emailing things to be printed off and turned in to people. He even attended some meetings via phone conference. There were only a few days left of his "honeymoon", but Ignis had a very important file in his office he needed to retrieve. He informed Y/N he would be running to the Citadel for a moment to grab it as asked if she wished to accompany him. As usual, she still wasn't leaving the apartment. It had been days since the mystery man had made an appearance but she wondered if it was just because he didn't know where she was staying right now and didn't want him finding out.
When he got to his office alone and without her, he ran into Gladio as he was unlocking his door.
"Hey! What are you doing back so early? You shouldn't be back here yet!" his friend greeted.
"I forgot a file I needed in my office."
"You could have said something and I would have ran it over to ya, ya know!"
"No need to waste your day with my negligence."
"Pshh Whatever Iggy. It would give me a chance to leave this place for a moment! I'm bored as hell without you here!"
"I'm quite sure there is more to do that you are just ignoring, Gladiolos."
"Don't Gladiolos me! It's boring as hell here without you and you know it! So! While I have you here, tell me how things have been! You two romp in the sheets yet? You aren't walking as bow legged as you should be."
Ignis rolled his eyes.
"I already informed you that our love life is none of your business."
"Come on! You're my best friend! Give me something here! Has she seriously given you nothing?"
"She just moved in to a new home! Let her settle into her new life! This is something we both have to do on our own time, not yours! Do you know she thought I was just going to lay her down and…have my way with her on our wedding night?"
"As most couples do-"
"She was in tears! She honestly thought I had zero regard for any of her feelings and was just going to take what I wanted from her because 'that's what couples do'. I was appalled! But what she did give me that night, I will treasure because she wanted to give it to me. It was a gift from her and it meant something."
"Soooo….you guys did do it? Or no? Cause now I'm confused," Gladio said, arching an eyebrow at his friend.
Ignis rolled his eyes again.
"No, Gladio. We didn't."
"Soooo she just flashed you some titty or something?" Ignis just gave his friend a hard look. "I mean, hey! If that got ya going then cool! I'm glad you got some titty action on your wedding night! Good for you man!"
"You're impossible," Ignis shook his head.
"Just tell me the two of you at least kissed. Cause, you may have fooled everyone else with that half assed cheek thing at the wedding, but I saw that shit! I gotta know you've at least gotten a real kiss from her."
Ignis stopped digging for the file he was looking for and smiled to himself.
"Yes…yes, we've shared a kiss."
"See! Now, that I know actually happened because look at your face right now! That's the look I like to see on your face!
"Ah! There you are!" LeAnn squealed!
"Finally! Y/N sighed. "I think I'm finally figuring out this damn video tablet thing!"
"Where's Ignis? Doesn't he normally help you with it?"
He had to run to the Citadel to grab some file he forgot so I'm home alone."
"Is it weird being there alone for the first time?"
"A bit. That's why I called. It's so quiet, even with the tv on. I'm so used to Ignis typing or on the phone or walking around or something."
"Maybe you should get a cat or something for when he goes back to work," LeAnn suggested.
"Hmmm…maybe. Ignis doesn't seem to be the pet type, though. I think he mentioned before something about them being like a child to care for or something along those lines."
"And you're supposed to have children with this man?"
"An eternal child I think is what he referred to them as. Plus he's always gone and busy so one never fit into his schedule. Maybe he would let me have one though."
"Wait wait wait! LET you have one? Did I hear you correctly?"
"Well, this is his place-"
"It's the BOTH of your place now! You guys are married. You want a cat, get a damn cat! Hell, get whatever pet you want just for saying that!"
Y/N laughed at her friend. She missed her last cat but wasn't sure if she was ready to get a new one yet or not when she thought about it.
"Soooo….have you given that poor man some action beyond your lips that first night yet?" Y/N's lack of response was all she needed to hear. "Come on girl! What's holding you back now? You know he's a good man, he's done so much for you, you're MARRIED for crying out loud."
"Ignis told me he wanted to wait until we were in love to have sex! I respect and appreciate that! Thank you very much!"
"I'm not just talking sex, girl! I know damn well there's some other freaky stuff in that little head of yours you would love to try."
Y/N could feel her face getting red.
"I'm not a freak, LeAnn!"
"No, but now you don't need batteries to keep you company anymore! You and I both know you could demand Ignis lick your clit for an hour straight and he'd fall straight to his knees and do just that!"
"LEANN! Oh my Six!"
"It doesn't have to be anything crazy! Start having some fun together! I think the reason you're miserable is because you need to cum! And you don't do it yourself anymore now that he's in the apartment!"
LeAnn was right. At least back in the Citadel when she had a room to herself, Y/N could use the battery operated friend she brought to take care of herself. Now, she worried Ignis would hear it or worse yet, hear her! It just felt…weird to do it with him right in the living room down the hall. She somehow felt more alone in the Citadel, even though that wasn't true.
"What if…he doesn't want to do anything with me?"
"Okay first of all HIGHLY doubt that's true at all. But if it is, then just don't!"
"What do you mean just don't?"
"Just pull away, apologize, and say it's fine! Ask him what he does want! Figure it out together! You both really need to communicate! I feel like you both just dance around each other and never know what the other wants! Say what you want and it won't be so hard to figure out! And start slow! Give him another hand job! He seemed to like the last one!"
That was true…he did.
Y/N had been giving Ignis odd looks all afternoon since he had returned. He asked her a few times if she was alright and she responded the same way each time. Everything else seemed the same. She kept to herself. Mainly watched some tv. Stayed in the bedroom a bit. She did ask if they could open a bottle of wine with dinner that night which was a bit out of the ordinary. She normally just had water or peach tea with dinner. Ignis figured out how to make the peach tea she loved so much and always had a pitcher for her in the fridge.
Dinner was mostly eaten in silence. The two of them had run out of things to talk about a few days back. Y/N kept giving him odd looks, though, and kept refilling their wine glasses. It was normal for them to sometimes have a glass here and there, but she was sure to never let their glasses get more than half empty throughout dinner. As Ignis was finishing up, he set his empty glass back down on the table and she once again poured it to about half full.
"Oh no, I'm quite fine, thank you," he said, waving his hand by his glass, but a moment too late.
"Figure we might as well finish off the bottle. It's almost empty," she said, filling her glass as well.
Was she trying to get them tipsy?
Ignis didn't wish to waste the wine, so he finished off his glass slowly, as he cleared the table from dinner and washed up the dishes. When he was all finished, she asked if he wished to open another bottle, but he told her he was quite satisfied. He could definitely feel the alcohol flowing in his bloodstream. Enough to flush his face a bit.
As bedtime rolled around shortly after, Y/N stopped him from getting his night things from the bedroom.
"Do you mind if I shower first tonight?"
"Oh, of course not! Go right ahead!" Ignis insisted.
He wasn't sure what her reasons were, but didn't feel a need to question it.
Y/N on the other hand had a plan. She wanted to be showered and ready before Ignis retired to the living room and fell asleep, so she asked to do her nightly showering ritual first this evening. As she was brushing her hair at her vanity, in her short nightgown and open robe, Ignis was in the shower. She kept taking deep breaths and going over her and LeAnn's conversation from earlier. There was nothing to be scared of when it came to Ignis. She trusts him. If there was any man out there she did trust…it was him. She stood and turned off the light, basking the room in almost darkness. The city lights from the open curtains lit up the room enough to see to get around. As the shower turned off, she walked over to the window and stood looking out, waiting for Ignis to exit the bathroom.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I take too long? I'll let you sleep!" Ignis said, opening the door to darkness and afraid he had interrupted her trying to sleep.
"No, no! You're fine. You were right. The view is really nice," Y/N said quietly.
"I'm very glad you like it. Well, goodnight Y/N," Ignis said, turning to leave the bedroom.
"Would you…like to enjoy it with me for a moment?" she asked, almost in a whisper?
Ignis stopped mid-step and looked over at her in surprise.
"S-sure," he stammered a bit and walked over beside her.
The two of them looked out the large window together, neither quite knowing what to say. Carefully, Y/N moved from beside Ignis to just slightly in front of him and leaned back against his left side. Ignis froze up a moment, not sure of how to react. Slowly, very slowly, he brought his left hand up and rested it on her left hip. A content sigh escaped her lips and Ignis allowed himself to breathe again. A few moments passed before Y/N spoke again.
"Ignis…" she whispered into the dark.
"Yes, Y/N…"
"Can I….touch you?" she asked, brushing her hand right ever so gently against the front of Ignis' pants.
A gust of breath escaped Ignis' lips at the touch and then his breathing stopped. Was she asking….? He didn't wish to push for details and ruin what was maybe about to happen so he simply answered her. He would let her do anything to him at this moment.
"Yes," he whispered back.
Y/N's hand brushed against him again with a little more pressure this time before she turned her wrist and felt for him properly with her hand. Once she found where his member was tucked against himself, she carefully cupped her hand around him.
"Mmmm…" Ignis let out a small moan.
"Did I hurt you?" she asked.
"No no!" he assured her.
Slowly, she opened her hand a bit and started rubbing up and down his hardening length. As blood filled his member, it got easier to tell what to grab and her hand molded against it better. By the time he was fully hard, Y/N had almost forgotten just how thick and big Ignis was. It was always the scrawny nerds that packed the biggest packages it seemed. Ignis moved her hair that was against her neck to the side and whispered against it.
"Can I kiss your neck?" he kindly asked.
"Yes" she responded back, as his lips immediately latched onto the milky skin. A slight gasp escaped her as he kissed up and down her neck. Ignis was good at this. His lips felt so nice against her. Why had she put this off for so long again?
As her eyes closed and she started getting lost in the moment, she got a bit braver and brought her hand to the top of his pants and stuck it down in, feeling for his bare length against her bare hand.
"Ahhm!" Ignis let out another gasp that turned into a moan at the skin on skin contact.
Y/N rubbed her fingers around the tip for a while before using her whole hand to stroke the entire length of him. Her strokes were slow and unsure at first, but as Ignis' kisses sped up, so did her hand. Every so often she would pause at the base to run her fingers over his sack. Each slow stroke seemed to send a shiver straight through Ignis. Thinking back to the last time she did this, she remembered it wasn't just her actions that seemed to egg him on, but her words too.
"Ahh fuck, Ignis. I forgot how big you were," she breathed out.
"Mmmmm," he moaned against her neck again. His hips started thrusting slightly into her hand as she stroked him.
"So big and hard for me." Ignis' breath caught for a moment. "Just like I'm so wet for you right now."
Ignis' hand on her hip moved down to her thigh where the edge of her nightgown was. Ignis grabbed the edge of it but stopped himself and instead just held it tightly in his hand.
"I can't wait to feel your fingers running through my wet pussy. Feeling how turned on I am for you," she edged him on. Ignis moved his hand back to her thigh and slowly over to the edge of her panties. "But not tonight! Not tonight!" Y/N suddenly told him. Ignis backed his fingers away and gripped hir thigh tightly instead, listening well but twitching to touch her all the same.
Y/N was a bit out of her comfort zone talking like this and didn't have near enough wine in her, but seeing how Ignis reacted was enough to keep her going. She loved the way he reacted to each of her words. Like he was picturing everything she said in his mind and couldn't get enough. Like her words were verbal porn for him. Prim and proper Ignis and the Princess talking dirty and nobody was around to know about it. The thought almost got her off too.
"Ahh Six I'm…I'm gonna…" Ignis gasped out. "Pull…Pull them dow-..." He couldn't seem to get any words out. Suddenly, he pulled the top of his pants down enough to free his cock completely and brought the two of them a few steps closer to the window so he could lean against it with his free hand. Breathing hard into her neck he spoke once more "Don't stop!"
"Oh, fuck yeah, Ignis! Cum for me! Urgh yeah come on baby!" she urged him on.
Hearing the pet name fall from her lips did him in. Without much more warning, Ignis cried out as he came against the window in front of them.
"AHH!" he yelled out before kissing her neck hard as spurt after spurt hit the window.
Ignis couldn't remember the last time he came that hard. Probably the last time she made him cum. And even then, it wasn't this intense. As he came down from his high, he slouched trying his best to hold himself up against the window and not against her.
The two of them looked at each other in a moment of slight awkwardness before they both smiled.
A/N:
As usual, I'm sorry this chapter took so long to come out. Between new med switches making me both crazy and sick and the last month being just filled with so much going on, I fell really behind. I also hope this chapter doesn't feel rushed. I have had the wedding chapter planned since this story was concocted in my head. However, it has completely changed. You barely saw any of the actual wedding. I didn't want to go through the motions of Noct's wedding and then another one but also, it was more from her perspective of just zoning out, not wanting to be there, and ignoring it all. There wasn't supposed to be anything special about it anyways. But what was originally going to be more of a forced affair, turned into her being a bit more accepting and enjoying parts of it. The two of them have come a lot further than they were supposed to have at this point and I'm not mad about it. They still have a LONG way to go, and don't let the little spice at the end fool you haha but they are definitely hitting the bonding stage where she is accepting her fate more now that it has happened. And poor Iggy won't have to suffer quite as much. But just remember, even though it took 20-something chapters to get here, this is a spicy fic with smut in it. And two inexperienced people about to be exploring themselves together. It's gonna be fun…but still a little bumpy going forward :)
Also a huge thank you for everyone's kind words about my last author's note! I have gotten more support from you all than from people in my real life and it means the world to me! Thank you!
