What it says on the tin. Now, time to ring the bell.
I initially wanted to upload the entire fight in one go, but I later realized doing that is more trouble than it's worth. So I just made sure to chunk it into reasonably good endpoints.
BOOM!
One of the dozen or so sounds that echo all throughout the prison walls of the Conformatorium. Aside from the flurry of firecrackers going off from Yang's gauntlets-!
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Fwoosh!
"Hup!"
Zap!
"Agh! Grr… Hah!"
Bang! Bang!
Boom!
There goes a guard.
Crumble!
Bang! Bang!
Various spells coming from the Conformatorium guards try to hit the huntress. Some do manage to hit her due to her inexperience.
Two coven scouts come in and draw their magic circles.
"So that's how it looks, huh? Glad someone told me about it first," Yang mutters to herself as she finally catches them in the act, cocking her gauntlets back as they summon purple abominations at her sides to capture her.
In one fell swoop, she steers clear from them, punches a head off of one of them, leaps up into the air and punches the ground, cleaning the area of abominations and staggering the imperial guards.
BOOM! *cue RWBY's Ignite*
Yang leaps back and launches two shotgun slugs towards the Warden.
Bang! Bang!
Wrath immediately sees it and leaps to his right, Yang quickly notices the circular border that she is surrounded by.
Guess I'm technically outside now. I can scale those walls.
She launches herself up into the air with her gauntlets and can be seen approaching the outer walls of the Conformatorium.
"Oh, no you don't!" Wrath exclaims as he extends one of his arms out and it morphs into a limb with multiple tentacles that lash out towards Yang and grab her by the ankle.
What the heck?!
Wrath yanks Yang away from the walls and straight down towards the ground. Overtaken by surprise, Yang's vision hits the floor.
Bam!
Before her back meets the ground hard.
Slam!
Followed by being spun towards the earth on her left shoulder.
Crash!
Finally getting her bearings, she gathers the strength to curl up and punch the tentacles away from her ankle, releasing her and sending her flying a few meters before managing to skid across the floor on her two feet.
"Those hands sure have a lot of tricks," Yang comments as she straightens her back, dusts her skirt, and raises her fists to guard up.
"You may be stronger than the last human with those explosive gauntlets, but I can still take it quite easily after enough hits," Wrath boasts and wastes no time launching himself into the air towards Yang, preparing a hammer-fist to swing towards her.
Maybe that's because his body is like clay and rubber…
In response, she bends her knees to stabilize, pulls back her right arm, and winds up for a cross. Timing her counter, she fully stretches out her punch to collide with Wrath's,
BOOM!
The impact caused the earth around them to crack up into chunks and created a shockwave that sent five more Conformatorium guards and even the two coven scouts careening towards the prison walls. Any harder and the floor beneath Yang's feet would've fully caved and she'd let the Warden have the higher ground.
"H-Huh?!" The Warden asks, shocked at Yang's seemingly immovable form.
Taking the opportune delay in his surprise, she uppercuts the hammer away from her and uses that momentum from her Ember Celica to spin herself up to his face, preparing a back kick and planting the leather heel firmly against his face, breaking his mask away as a result.
"Grr…" Clearly hurt but quickly composing himself, Wrath starts inhaling deeply and Yang can feel the air heating up as she lands on her feet.
Uh oh!
Seeing his mouth light up, she crouches down and launches herself beneath and between the Warden's legs to escape his frontal assault.
Fire!
Sliding up behind him, she lands two jabs followed by a cross straight to his gut,
Bang! Bang!
Bang!
Getting Wrath to stagger forward a few steps before he forms a wide scythe with his left hand and slashes immediately.
"Whoa!"
Yang leans too far back and backflips to gain distance. But as soon as she looks straight ahead, Wrath leaps forward with both hands morphed into sharpened blades and attacks away at her retreating form.
Whoosh!
Yang spins left, dodging a downward diagonal slash.
Swish!
Yang spins right, ducking under an immediate side swipe from his other hand before bouncing up a bit to sock the Warden straight to the jaw with a right hook, "Hah!"
Bang!
Fists, hammers, grapples, and now scythes… It's like I'm sparring with my friends.
Disoriented, albeit briefly, Wrath shakes it off as he swells up one of his fists and backhands Yang, sending her towards the wall and leaving her slightly dented in there.
Crash!
"Urgh!" She grunts, "and his Ursa-like size is no joke even if he's sluggish…"
Pushing herself off of it and focusing her vision, she sees Wrath running forward. It's only when looking up that Yang finally spots what looks like cameras mounted onto the walls and eyeballs with wings. They've been watching her tussle against the warden and his guards for a while now.
Well, hopefully the others see me being broadcasted live.
Yang grins in genuine amusement and confidence as she jerks her elbows back, cocking her shotgun-gauntlets and letting it release a pair of empty shells and automatically reload. Afterwards, she sprints forward.
Wrath lashes out tentacles straight to her, which Yang punches down to the ground with Ember Celica and somersaults over before running across it. He whips his arms up, sending Yang into the air, but she manages quite well by firing multiple rounds aimed at him in mid-air.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
With Wrath busy tanking the shots, Yang takes a dive and rolls across the floor to continue the momentum, rapidly closing the distance between the two of them with her gauntlets. He starts spewing fire from his mouth, but she rushes past inside his effective range and lands an uppercut towards where his diaphragm would be.
Blam!
Wrath starts coughing up and wincing in the pain, but Yang doesn't give him a second as she spins using that extra oomph from the uppercut and slugs him in the head followed by three more quick punches to his chest. Getting under him, she grunts to lift him up before launching him towards the wall with both of her gauntlets.
"Ow! You…" The Warden mutters, but Yang's already pulling back a punch to wind it up at him and leaps into the air.
"HHHRRRRAAAA!" She exclaims as she unloads the payload on him, punching him through the wall onto the streets of the marketplace.
BOOM!
As soon as Wrath shoots past the walls, the unsuspecting populace of the Bonesborough marketplace starts running frantically, screaming and scrambling away from the very scene of the action. Wrath bounces twice before slowly getting up. Taking a deep breath first, he uses his tentacles to grapple three big chunks of the broken wall. As soon as he spots Yang, he starts hurling them towards her.
Yang sticks her landing before noticing the debris. She immediately sprang into action with her gauntlets, launching herself over the first boulder, sliding with a boost under the second one, before finally standing upright to break the third one with a direct left punch.
Bang!
Crumble!
"Got you!" Wrath exclaims as he shows up just behind the broken boulder. Getting the jump on her, he swings a hand-scythe to her exposed side.
All those times trying to capture the slippery Eda must've helped him level this fight a bit better.
With only a little more than a second to react, she manages to guard against it with her other hand, scraping the right gauntlet in the process with how strongly she had to push back against the weight.
Is she seeing things or was there a small spark created in that clash? She could've lost an arm if she messed up that block.
But Wrath has his other hand free to morph into tentacles to wrap around Yang's shoulders, thrashing her down and pinning her to the ground before pummeling her.
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
He then drags her across a few feet before lifting Yang up in mid-air and tossing her into a wagon filled with construction material, puncturing the bags of sand and cement, splintering wood planks as well as smashing a few bricks.
The huntress grunts as she stays down to wave away the cement dust before taking a quick breather, but still, she shouts as she gets up easily in a second, "come on, demon! Is that all you got?!"
Wrath laughs confidently, "don't get bored just yet, human."
By sheer good timing (or maybe as if on cue), the requested reinforcement from the Emperor's Coven came in droves.
Five on my left, four on my right, two behind me, and one behind Warden Wrath. Just a bit less than Junior's usual.
A dozen, she counts, until even the Conformatorium Guards and Emperor's Scouts Yang beat up from a while ago have recovered and joined the field.
They all had their fingers pointed out, drawing magic circles in the air. Looking past Warden, she sees…
"Warden, we've found these prisoners trying to free others a while ago," one of the guards says as they bring out one of the five, the redhead witch that Yang freed a while ago.
"Let them go!" Yang shouts.
"Fat chance, human. You're all going back, and we'll make sure your stay is permanent," Wrath threatens.
That's… An extra six guards from the prison and those two coven goons behind Wrath…
"Grrr…" Yang enters her fighting stance and pulls back an elbow; although a clicking sound is heard,
Can't take them all out like this. I'll have to switch to…
Yang snuck a glance to her pockets to see her two sets of red shotgun slugs with golden tips.
As soon as she reaches for them, however, the Warden sees that as a chance and shouts, "get her!"
He immediately spewed fire from his mouth. The rest of the guards and scouts followed suit as they released multiple magic spells: fireballs, lightning bolts, ice beams, energy blasts, you name it.
Yang looks back to the construction cart, holds in a huge breath, and uppercuts the cement bags to create a huge shroud of dust.
Bang!
KRAKABOOM!
"Is it a direct hit, sir?" one of the guards asks the Warden as she has yet to emerge from the cloud, but the flying debris from the construction cart is clear that there's some damage there.
"Hmm…" Wrath hums, rather skeptical as he starts walking forward to see a flickering yellow outline within the cloud. But not even before he took his third step did they all hear something.
Cha-Shink! POP!
Everyone starts seeing multiple orange-gold shells with red tips bouncing playfully on the floor past the dust cloud.
"Huh? What is…" Warden says as he looks back.
Shi-Shang!
And then-
Babababababababababang!
Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew!
Ten whistling fireballs burst out in rapid succession from the dust cloud, raining fire on all the scouts and guards surrounding the Warden.
Boom!
"Scatter!" One of the scouts shouted.
"Titan, help us!"
"What is going on?!"
"She's a monster!"
The first couple of shots directly blow some of them up before the rest of the ranks run around in a frenzy, the explosions causing additional clamor. Yang leaps forward as she flings four slugs to Wrath.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew!
He counters all three shots with a fire breath. But that's Yang was going for as she gets past the Warden and lands in front of the captives.
She punches the guard on her left, which spins her to land a cross on another guard to her right. A coven scout tries to grab her from behind, but Yang grabs one of their hands and twists them around her until she winds up a kick straight to the helmet, knocking them out.
"Go! While you still can!" Yang shouts as she tosses the unconscious body to two charging scouts.
The freed witches immediately booked it, but two witches peeked back and drew a magic circle towards Yang. This confused her for a moment before she heard earth shift behind her and got her to look around. Two thin rock walls popped up between her and Wrath, not enough to block his strike, but slowed him down enough for Yang to duck. Punching the air, she sends a left elbow straight to his gut, getting him to bend over, before grabbing his shirt with one hand and preparing a fist with the other. Ready to finish him.
"Time to end this!"
Zap!
A magic lasso made out of energy ropes around Yang's gauntlet, pulled by three Coven guards, preventing her from delivering a finishing blow.
"Agh! Hey!" Yang shouts, letting go of Wrath to launch a long-range shell.
Zap!
Another lasso catches that hand too, and now Warden has the upper hand as he pulls Yang's head to the left side with one hand.
"You're right… It is indeed time to end this.," Wrath throws back as he morphs a scythe with the other hand and aims at Yang's right shoulder.
"YAAAANG!" A third voice screams as she falls -no, dives! Seemingly from the sun.
Yang gasps as she looks up at the incoming hooded girl, "Huh?"
With a baseball at the ready, Ruby swung it with all the force to his face and-
WHACK!
Knocked some candlelights out of him, while an ice glyph activates from her bat, crystallizing at his jaw and sending the Warden flying to the group on his left that were roping Yang's right arm.
Voom~
Crackle! Crackle! Crackle!
After the strike, Ruby stands up straight, fully cloaked to the head with her red hood and wielding the glyph-bat, before temporarily peeking back from her hood and smiling, "hey, Sis!"
Feeling the freedom of her right arm, Yang wastes no time in launching a long-range explosive towards the group on her left, freeing her other hand. The first thing she does is wrap Ruby in a bear hug and kiss her forehead, "Ruby! Thank goodness you're okay!"
"You too! I was so worried!" Ruby replies as she hugs back.
Shortly after the commotion, someone else drops down gracefully with a roll to Yang's left.
"Blake?"
"Clearly, you're not one to make a scene and make a mess, Yang," Blake teases as she unleashes her gambol shroud and starts shooting three coven scouts that were about to begin their spells. Followed by using the kusarigama form of the gun to hook a fruit stall and pull it toppling towards two more guards.
"What can I say? I love to shine sometimes," Yang nonchalantly shrugs as she readies her gauntlets, "where's your weapon, Rubes?"
"I don't have it with me… I lost it when we got here," she replies as she turns back to the coven squad, "have you seen Weiss?"
"Nope!" Yang replies with a pop at the 'p' when a thick ice wall grows behind her, blocking a fireball.
"Ah, there you-!" Yang was about to declare as she turned to see another person who definitely isn't Weiss.
"Are… Who are you?" Yang's curiosity came first. The girl turns back and smirks at Yang.
"My name is Luz Noceda! You must be Ruby's sister, nice to meet you!"
"Likewise!" Yang starts petting Luz's head, prompting a giggle from her, "thanks for the help."
It takes Yang a moment to notice Luz's round ears and piece the information together, "hey, you must be that 'first human' the other witches and that warden were talking about."
"Wait, really?" Luz asks in genuine surprise.
But before Yang can answer that question, Wrath intervenes, "really. We meet again, Luz the human… And you brought a catgirl and a hooded witch as help."
"Hooded witch?" Yang whispers to Ruby.
"I've been hiding my ears ever since I woke up last night. They don't know about me being a human. Let's keep it that way," she whispers back.
"You're awfully cautious about your looks," Yang jokes.
"Hey!"
"Ah, Warden Wrath, did you like the fireworks I gave you last time?" Luz smugly retorts.
He growls in frustration at that comment and holds up both fists, one of which visibly holds some of Yang's hair. He then morphs his hands into scythes that shred those strands into smaller pieces.
Uh oh, Ruby thought to herself as she saw Yang's darkened expression, but she used the opportunity, "Yang, think you can keep him busy for a few more minutes?"
"Say no more," she 'calmly' declares as she taps Luz by the shoulder, letting her feel a growing heat radiate from her rage "get in line kid… I'M NOT DONE WITH THIS DEMON! HRAH!"
She shouts in complete fury as her irises turn red and she launches herself towards him. Wrath blocks an incoming punch that pushes him back into the crowd. Leaving Luz utterly scared and confused.
"What's the plan, Ruby?" Blake asks as she backs up to the remaining two.
"First, the witches Yang freed," Ruby starts.
"So focus on the guards that are after them," Blake completes as she unleashes the katana and the bladed sheath.
Ruby nods, "after that, help Yang push back the big guy. We'll escape once an opening is created. And no slashing, these are witches without aura, we're not killing them like the Grimm."
"On it!" Blake obeys as she starts leaping between food and fruit stalls
"Opening?" Luz asks.
"That's where we come in," Ruby answers as she turns to Luz, "you and I will-!"
"Look out!" Luz shouts and points behind Ruby, who turns her back to see a lightning whip aimed directly at them.
