"Juliette!"
The called cry of the monster's name hadn't fully left his daughter's lips before something unyieldingly solid collided with the mission-driven father knocking him hard into the ground beside the sickly legacy.
At once Jack was rolling back to his feet with a new charge of adrenaline surging through him as he reaches blindly for his fallen weapon.
"You okay?"
The soft-spoken question he hadn't been ready for as his angered gaze refocused on just who had stopped him from taking his rightful revenge on the monster that had ripped his family apart.
"Tee!?"
His wife didn't look away from the vampire she was attempting to help sit up at the moment with a coaxing "easy," as the pair moved. Honestly, it didn't seem like the smaller vampire was even aware anymore given how glazed and unseeing her eyes were as they attempted to focus on the hovering mother now kneeling beside her.
"Cal?!"
Her daughter's name was barely even a whisper from the legacy's cracked lips.
"Tee what the hell are you doing?" Jack demands over his wife's pleading 'Come on Jules, don't quite on us now' when it looked like the sliver was finally doing some lethal damage. Talia's hands currently smoothing the vampire's dirt and grass-dirtied hair away from her sweat-dampened forehead as the hunter's hand gently cupped the vampire's jaw taking in the devastating damage.
A hiss that distinctly hadn't come from the fang-baring vampire sounds from close by the hunter's boot making the human man immediately jump back in nervous anticipation of an attack. Why he felt that way the hunter couldn't say. Only that something in him warned him to stay away from the slithering serpent now coiling itself tightly around the smaller vampire's right arm seemingly unbothered by the silvery grey veins spiderwebbed all along the limb's paled flesh.
"You cannot be serious," Elinor scoffed talking more towards the serpent than to anyone else as she once again drags a beaten Cal along with her as she storms towards her little sister.
Without releasing its hold on Juliette's throat, the Emerald Malkia gives an angered hiss of its own. If anything, it bites even harder at the same time Talia moves to hover defensively over them both with Jack giving a commanding "let her go. Now." That he knew before he'd finished would only go unanswered by the more 'mean girl' of the vampire siblings.
"Drop it or watch me kill her." The more awake Fairmont orders eyeing the tree shard still tightly clutched in the hunter's hand. The stake falls a half beat later. "all the way." Elinor prods pressing the hidden point of the sliver spear blade hard enough against Cal's back to have the newborn whispering in honest worry. More than enough to convince her human father to kick away the legacy killer at his feet.
"Jules?" Cal pants around the choking restraint that was Elinor's arm around her neck. The true threat of the spearhead also retracted for the moment as Cal's eyes remained locked on her girlfriend's unmoving form cradled in her mother's arms.
Juliette's eyes were closed as if she were only sleeping as the snake attacked her throat but the rapid flickering behind her eyelids proved that was at least somewhat a lie. "Jules wake up." Cal begged as loud as she was able. The scaring marks of silver were fading slowly but surely the longer the snake held on leaving only smooth unblemished skin behind so why hadn't her maker woken up?
"For the love of Lilith shut up halfling." Elinor groaned pressing down harder against the windpipe under her arm.
Not that Calliope allowed the rough treatment for long as she twisted out of the more seasoned vampire's grip. Much like the way she'd seen Juliette evade Clayton Cook before threatening to 'feed him to her family'. "Not a bad idea, actually." Cal chuckles to the phantom voice of the one who turned her replaying in her head.
"What's not a bad idea?" Elinor scoffed both bored and curious at the same moment as her eyes find Cal's.
"I'll feed you to my family." Cal smiles as if it were the most obvious answer in the world.
