Volume I: Kraven the Hunter
Note: This will be the eleventh chapter of Volume I. This will feature Sergei Kravenoff AKA Kraven the Hunter as well as his origin, it will also feature Calypso as the supporting chapter of Kraven.
It's December at night as the weather is getting cold as snow season is coming. A group of arms dealers are doing a deal in Hell's Kitchen on some hi tech weaponry built by Tinkerer to bring profits to the Kingpin, the deal is being run by a man who named Turk Barrett.
"As you can see these rifles can shoot a blast of laser energy at anything in its path, allow me to demonstrate." Turk Barrett hold up the rifle.
He aims the rifle at the crates and fires a laser blast at the crates, destroying it as the gangs are impressed by such destruction the weapon provides.
"I'd trust that you're pleased with this?" Turk Barrett says to the buyers.
"Very much."
"Now shall we talk price?" Turk Barrett smiled.
A web is fired onto the rifle and got yanked off Turk's hand, Turk and everyone sees Spider-Man here.
"Hope you guys don't mind me crashing this party?" Spider-Man jokes as he hangs on the wall.
"It's him! It's Spider-Man!"
"Shoot him!"
All the gangbangers pulled out their guns and started firing at Spider-Man but he jumped off the wall and started webbing a few of them up, even jumping onto some of them then webbing them down. Turk is scared by Spider-Man's appearance as he ran.
Spider-Man sees a couple of guys coming at him with wooden sticks, he ran up and does the split kick. He webbed both down as he sees Turk Barrett is escaping in his car.
Turk is driving out into the streets as he's trying to escape until he see Spider-Man landing on the hood of the car. Turk then turns the wheel trying to shake Spider-Man off the hood, but it's impossible as Spider-Man is still stuck on the hood. Spider-Man turns around and sees a another car coming in the same direction. He punched through the windshield and webbed up Turk's face, he grabbed the steering wheel and turns the car away.
"Stop the car right now!" Spider-Man says to Turk Barrett.
Turk hit the brakes as the car stops, he pulled the webbing off the face. Spider-Man is still stuck on the hood even though the car stopped with full brakes. He jump off the hood and lands near the driver door.
"License and Registration please." Spider-Man jokes to Turk Barrett.
Later as Turk Barrett is hanging upside down in a web cocoon, Spider-Man began to interrogate him.
"Selling illegal arms to gangbangers? How far have you fallen." Spider-Man says to Turk Barrett.
"Come on, man, just making a living." Turk Barrett says to Spider-Man.
"You call selling weapons illegally that's responsible for a number of deaths a living?" Spider-Man not too happy.
"Look man, I'm just the middle man!" Turk Barrett says to Spider-Man.
"I know, you work for the Kingpin, right?" Spider-Man said those words to Turk, making him nervous.
"How'd you know about the Kingpin?" Turk Barrett says nervously.
"I know that he exists, tell me his name and where I can find him?" Spider-Man wants answers.
"You're crazy, he's not the kind of guy you want to mess with! Trust me on that. Take me to jail, I'd rather be locked up than being a snitch." Turk Barrett refused to name the Kingpin out of fear.
Spider-Man then walked away from Turk leaving him hanging upside down.
"Hey! You can't leave me here like this!" Turk Barrett says upside down.
"Don't worry, called the cops to come and pick you up!" Spider-Man continues to walk away.
Spider-Man swings away from the scene, leaving Turk Barrett behind as the police came by to arrest him for selling illegal arms.
Back in Forest Hills at the Parker Residence, Mary Jane is waiting in Peter's bedroom as he finally returned home after patrolling the city.
"How did it go?" Mary Jane got curious.
"The fifth crime activity this week I took down, and still no answers." Peter took off the mask.
"It's been more than a month since you've heard the name Kingpin and still no answers?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"These guys are scared of him, too scared to name him, whoever this guy is, he's very dangerous." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"No kidding, this guy orchestrated the attack on Midtown High and came after our friend, nearly killed her." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"I know, this guy doesn't have any limits, no restraint, no honor. I will find him, I'm not giving up." Peter still keeps his promise to find this Kingpin.
At the same night at Fisk Tower, Wilson Fisk and his assistant James Wesley watched the news of last night about the weapons deal that Spider-Man stopped.
"Tonight a group of criminals were arrested for purchasing hi tech weapons illegally, the man who brokered the deal named Turk Barrett, a resident from Hell's Kitchen with a long criminal record has been arrested by police thanks to the help of our very own Spider-Man who's actions might've prevented a potential blood bath from happening in the streets of New York."
"Everyday... everyday that he's out there, we losing so much money and control." Wilson Fisk isn't too happy.
"I'm sorry about this recent failure, sir." James Wesley says to Wilson Fisk.
"Clearly we can't take him down by normal means, we need to match him in kind. It just so happens that I might know a man with such skills and power. Wesley, get me in touch with Sergei Kravenoff." Wilson Fisk got an idea on how to take down Spider-Man.
James Wesley is looking through the contract list to find Sergei Kravenoff.
Meanwhile somewhere in the wildlife of Africa, a warthog is walking around alone unknown to him as someone is watching nearby hidden with a bow and arrow aimed at it. This man is Sergei Kravenoff, a Russian national who goes by Kraven the Hunter. He was about to fire the arrow until he sensed something nearby coming towards him.
He turned around and was about to fire an arrow but he got attacked by a pack of hyenas. He kicked one off of him with such unnatural strength. He quickly got himself off the ground and standing, he pulls out his machete. The pack is surrounding him as he's stuck in the middle.
"You want to challenge me? I'll be happy to oblige, come on!" Kraven taunts the hyenas.
One came at him but he dodged the first one, another came as he uses his machete to slay one down. He pulls out a bola and tossed one at the charging one. It got trapped in the bola as he walks up and slay it down. The rest of pack watched as the Hunter is getting the best of them, they ended up running away in fear.
Kraven watched as they run away, he lets them escape as they are not his prey. The wild warthog came charging in at Kraven but he jumped out of the way. Kraven sees the bow lying on the floor as the warthog turns around for another attack. He quickly picked it up as it came charging at him, he draws an arrow from the quiver and fires an arrow.
(Sometime Later)
At another place near the wildlife, a woman named Calypso awaits at the camp for her beloved to come back to her. She then spotted Kraven coming with a dead warthog he's carrying on his shoulders.
"Sergei, I was wondering if you were going to return." Calypso says to Kraven.
"My apologies, my love. I brought dinner." Kraven kept carrying the dead warthog.
Kraven puts down the dead warthog as he walks up to Calypso and kisses her, she kissed him back as they're about to enter a moment of passion until the satellite phone is ringing. Kraven and Calypso broke off the kiss as the moment is ruined, Kraven walked over to the backpack to pick up the phone.
Kraven answered the phone. "Hello?"
"Is this Sergei Kravenoff, also known as Kraven the Hunter?" James Wesley asking the question.
"This is he, who is calling?" Kraven is getting curious.
"Merely an employee, my employer has an offer that will satisfy you and your need to hunt." James Wesley explained over the phone.
(New York City)
At the same time in New York City, Wilson Fisk is on speaking with Sergei Kravenoff giving details about Spider-Man.
"So, you'll do it?" Wilson Fisk says on the phone.
"To hunt this Spider-Man, I will accept this challenge, Mr. Fisk. But keep your money, the thrill of the hunt will be compensation enough." Kraven then hangs up.
"He's in." Wilson Fisk says to his assistant.
(Africa)
Kraven accept the contract on Spider-Man as he and Calypso have a change of plan.
"Well Calypso, we're going to New York." Kraven is packing his gear.
"So soon?" Calypso is surprised by this news.
"Yes, a challenge worthy of my caliber has finally come. For years I've bested the fiercest predators known to mankind and won, every time. This time I shall face this Spider-Man and become the greatest hunter there ever is." Kraven explained his ambitions to Calypso.
Kraven and Calypso is about to take a trip to New York City to find Spider-Man for the greatest hunt in Kraven's life.
The next day at Midtown High as it's break time, Peter and Harry are both outside as they sees that Liz Allan has returned alive and well after recovery from that incident from Shocker couple weeks ago.
"Glad to see Liz Allan back on her feet." Harry says to Peter.
"If anyone can overcome the odds, it's Liz Allan." Peter smiled as he watched Liz.
Peter and Harry then sees Mary Jane and Gwen welcoming Liz back to school, Harry in particular is focusing on Mary Jane who he always saw as attractive, he and Mary Jane have always been friends, lately he's starting to see her as something more. Peter is focused on Gwen right now as he too started to see her as something more too. He then looked at Harry who is still distracted looking at Mary Jane.
"Harry?... Harry!" Peter called out to Harry who is distracted.
Harry snapped back to reality. "Huh? I'm sorry, what?"
"Are you okay?" Peter is getting a bit worried.
"Yeah... I'm good Pete." Harry replied to Peter.
"Why not just tell her?" Peter says to Harry.
"Who?" Harry says to Peter.
"MJ." Peter says to Harry.
"Is it that obvious?" Harry says to Peter.
"Yeah, it's that obvious." Peter smiled at Harry.
"I don't know. How come you haven't said anything to Gwen about how you feel?" Harry asking Peter.
"Honestly, I don't know." Peter says to Harry.
"Come on Pete, it's obvious that Gwen has feelings for you and you clearly have feelings for her. So what's holding you back?" Harry is curious as to why Peter hasn't told Gwen how he felt.
"It's... complicated." Peter couldn't say to Harry.
"Hmm, when it comes to you, it always is." Harry says to Peter.
"What about you? How come you haven't said anything to MJ about your feelings for her?" Peter asking about Harry's feelings for Mary Jane.
"Well... for years I only saw her as a friend, but since that time we've paired up on the field trip to Oscorp months ago, I began to see her differently and I couldn't help but noticed how beautiful she is." Harry described what he's feeling for Mary Jane to Peter.
"I understand what you're feeling Harry, I really do, when Gwen was in danger, I couldn't help but worry for her. When I heard that she came close to dying, it felt like a piece of me was dying with her. Since then I began to see Gwen as something more than just a friend." Peter described his feelings for Gwen to Harry.
"You're in love with her, aren't you?" Harry says to Peter.
"Yes." Peter admits his feelings for Gwen to Harry.
"You're lucky to have Gwen Stacy in your life. She's one of a kind." Harry smiled at Peter.
"Yes, she is." Peter smiled at Harry.
"Then make a move, tell her." Harry advices Peter to make a move on Gwen.
"Sure, as soon as you make your move with MJ." Peter smiled at Peter.
Peter and Harry looked at the two girls they've fallen in love with. Harry is still shy when it comes to girls, especially Mary Jane who is a great beauty. As for Peter, he's brave at most things in life, but confessing his feelings for Gwen is a hard one, since his life as Spider-Man is a dangerous one. He puts Gwen's safety above his feelings for her, though it's hard for him as he's in love with Gwen. If anything terrible happens to Gwen, he would never forgive himself.
A cargo freighter came sailing through New York Bay as Kraven and Calypso watched the city where the biggest hunt in Kraven's life will begin, they sees the Statue of Liberty as the freighter passes by, as well as another tall building next to it, the Triskelion which no one knows who or what it belongs to. They looked back at Manhattan as Spider-Man is in the city somewhere for Kraven to hunt.
"At last, the jungles of New York City will be a challenge as the biggest prey lies in waiting for the predator to hunt." Kraven says to Calypso.
"Are you sure that you can take on this Spider-Man? From what I have gathered, he bested the best adversaries there ever is, from the zombie crime lord to the alien dragon." Calypso described Spider-Man's recent ventures.
"All the more reason as I've gone against the most dangerous creatures known to mankind and won, this time Spider-Man will prove to be a greater challenge. Besides, I have these abilities thanks to you, my Calypso." Kraven smiled at Calypso.
(Flashback)
In the Jungles of Wakanda as Sergei Kravenoff heard the tales about a secret city hidden from the rest of the world where Wakanda possesses a valuable mineral that can only be found here.
As he continues to explore the jungles, he heard a noise not too far from where he is, it sounded like a woman's screaming for help.
He ran as fast as he can and found a local Wakandan woman cornered by a wild Panther. Sergei decided to help her out as he grabbed a large branch to be used as a weapon. He came between the woman and the wild Panther.
"I'll protect you." Sergei Kravenoff defends her.
The Panther attacks as Sergei swings the branch and hits the Panther hard, but the Panther quickly got up and charged in for another attack. The Panther managed to clawed across Sergei's chest, injured him. Sergei is on the ground injured as the Panther is waking around waiting for his next attack, Sergei pulled out his gun and fired off in the air. The Panther didn't like the sound of gunfire as Sergei fired at the ground close to the Panther, it spooked him as he retreated back into the jungle.
The woman is safe and sound but her savior is on the ground too injured from the fight.
"You're hurt!" She said more concerned.
Sergei is too injured to be saved by normal means, especially in the middle of the jungle. The Wakanda woman then has an idea on how to save him. She was a shaman priestess apprenticed under Zuri. She pulled out an rare plant called the heart shaped herb that grew in the gardens enriched by the vibranium. She then decided to make a potion out of the heart shaped herb to give to her savior.
She finished making the potion as she offered it to Sergei Kravenoff to drink.
"Here, this can save you."
"What is it?" Sergei says in his weaken state.
"A potion made from the heart shaped herb, it will heal your body and give you the strength of kings." She explained the potions effects.
She gave the potion to Sergei to drink in as he drank the whole potion. He then began to feel a change happening to his own body as the potion did its work. His wounds are starting to heal, but that's not all that's happening, he's started to feel stronger than ever before.
Sometime later after he drank the potion and rest, he woke up as the first thing he sees is the Wakandan woman who saved his life. He got himself up and sees that he's fully recovered from his injuries, but more than that, he became reborn as a new man.
"You saved my life, what is your name?" Sergei asking for her name.
"I don't have one right now, I've renounced my Wakandan name and left my home."
"How about Calypso?" Kraven looked at her beauty.
"Calypso?"
"The goddess of love and beauty, she captured the heart of Odysseus, she offered him a gift and he fell in love with her, just like you've done to me." Sergei looked at Calypso.
She and Sergei leaned in closer and kissed each other, they fell in love. She renounced her Wakandan name and changed it, she became Calypso Ezili, Kraven's beloved. Since then he uses his new gifts to hunt against the strongest creatures known to man, he gained the reputation as the world's greatest hunter, he became Kraven the Hunter.
(Flashback)
"You've remembered." Calypso smiled back at Kraven.
"You made me the man I am today, you made me into Kraven the Hunter." Kraven looked at Calypso.
They leaned in and kissed each other passionately, she would follow him to the ends of the earth for him. The freighter continues to sail through the bay, as it's about to dock with the mainland.
Back in the Parker Residence as Peter and Mary Jane are doing their homework for school. Mary Jane could tell that Peter has something on his mind beside homework.
"Okay, I give up, what's on your mind?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"Nothing, just doing my homework." Peter gave an excuse to Mary Jane.
"You're a terrible liar, you know that?" Mary Jane smiled at Peter.
Peter sighed. "It's Gwen actually."
"What about her besides the obvious that you have feelings for her and haven't told her about it." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"Harry brought it up when..." Peter hesitate to say more.
"When... what?" Mary Jane is getting curious.
"Harry was watching you when you and Gwen were speaking to Liz." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Me? Why was he watching me?" Mary Jane is a bit surprised.
"He... likes you... there, I said it." Peter confessed to Mary Jane about Harry's feelings for her.
"I know." Mary Jane smiled at Peter.
"You do?" Peter is confused.
"When we were on the bus on our way to Oscorp for the field trip, I could tell that he was eyeballing me while I was looking out the window, when I turned and asked him, he blushed and said nothing. I had no idea that he had such strong feelings for me." Mary Jane tells Peter about Harry.
"What about you? Do you... have feelings for him?" Peter is curious about her feelings for Harry.
"Honestly... I don't know. For a long time, he and I were just friends." Mary Jane isn't sure how she feels.
"So were me and Gwen, I never thought that I would end up liking her in such a way, but then..." Peter was about to say more.
"You fell in love with her." Mary Jane smiled at Peter as she finished his sentence.
"Yes, I fell in love with Gwen Stacy." Peter admits his feelings for Gwen to Mary Jane.
"That's wonderful, but what's holding you back?" Mary Jane is curious as to why Peter hasn't say anything to Gwen.
"Me, as in Spider-Man... every time I put on that suit and head into danger, I also endanger the people around me, like Liz Allan who got caught in the middle and almost died." Peter explained his reasons to Mary Jane.
"Peter, what happened to Liz wasn't your fault." Mary Jane assured Peter.
"I know, but that doesn't change the fact that I attract danger and made a lot of enemies in these past months alone. I would never forgive myself if anything terrible happens to Gwen because of me. She deserves better, someone who can give her a normal life, a better life, that's not me." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Peter, you do deserve her, not because you're Spider-Man, it's because you have a good heart, you're a great person Tiger." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"What happens if I end up disappointing her because of my life as Spider-Man? I can't put Gwen through that." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Peter, life isn't always easy, but we do our best to get through it. Sometime we may end up being happy along the way. Peter, do you love Gwen?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"Yes, I love her." Peter confessed his feelings for Gwen to Mary Jane.
"Then tell her, I know in my heart that she feels the same way for you. Trust me, I'd be happy if you and Gwen are together." Mary Jane smiled to Peter.
"Thank you, MJ. Well I'm done with my homework, I should get going." Peter stands up and enters the closet to change.
"Where are you going?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"I have work, both as Peter Parker and as Spider-Man, need to pay the bills around here, besides crime doesn't sleep." Peter came out of the closet wear his Spider-Man suit.
"Of course, it never does." Mary Jane says to Peter.
Peter puts on the mask and walked up to the window "Don't wait up for me."
Spider-Man jumped out of the window to head off to the city.
At the top of a building in Central Park Zoo, Kraven managed to assemble a wooden sticks on the rooftop. He lit up a match and tossed it down onto the green where the fuel trail lit up to the sticks, he watched as the sticks burn up in front of his eyes, the fire came to be in a shape of a spider.
"Now to wait for the predator to take the bait." Kraven smiled as he watched.
At the same time as Peter is at the Daily Bugle, Jameson is watching through the binoculars as he spots a large burning spider coming from the Central Park Zoo.
"Parker! Get in here!" Jameson called out to Peter.
Peter came into Jameson's office.
"What are you doing here?! Why aren't you down at the zoo getting me pictures of this?!" Jameson says to Peter.
"But I just..." Peter got cut off by Jameson.
"Doesn't anybody do his job around here?! I could write the copy myself, now get me photos!" Jameson tells Peter.
"Okay, Mr. Jameson." Peter says to Jameson.
"I bet money that Spider-Man is involved somehow." Jameson looks back at the burning spider.
Peter then too noticed the burning spider coming from Central Park Zoo, someone is sending a message to him, to Spider-Man, this doesn't feel like the Kingpin, but he can't ignore it either, he leaves the Daily Bugle to find out who is calling to him.
Sometime later, Spider-Man arrived at the scene of the burning spider and finds nothing.
"If someone is trying to imitate my spider signal, then they're not doing a very good job." Spider-Man says to himself.
His spider sense tingle as an arrow is fired at high speed as Spider-Man move his shoulder a bit as the arrow scratched a part of the suit, he keep jumping and dodging the arrows being fired at him. He stopped moving at the same time the arrow stopped firing. He then sees someone hidden in the trees nearby as he fired off a web line at the branch, he pulled it down and a man fell down and landed on his feet.
Spider-Man sees his new adversary, a black haired man in his forties, donned on a lion's vest armed with a bow and a empty quiver.
"Not bad, though you're no William Tell. So who are you?" Spider-Man asking for his name.
"Allow me to introduce myself, I am Sergei Kravenoff, but everyone who knows my reputation calls me Kraven the Hunter." Kraven introduced himself to Spider-Man.
"Hmm... sorry, doesn't ring a bell." Spider-Man never heard of him.
"No matter, it's you who I want. I traveled a great distance to find you." Kraven says to Spider-Man.
"Oh! I'm touched, if you wanted an autograph, all you had to do is ask." Spider-Man jokes around.
"You're mistaken, Spider. It's not your autograph I want." Kraven says to Spider-Man.
"Then... what do you want?" Spider-Man asking Kraven about his intentions.
"Like I said, you!" Kraven throws a bola at Spider-Man.
Spider-Man cartwheel out of the way but Kraven then pulled out his spear and uses it against. He thrust his spear but Spider-Man kept dodging it, he then managed to grabbed hold of the spear and pulled Kraven, but Kraven managed to kick him in the process. Spider-Man laid down on the floor as Kraven jumped up and thrust the spear down onto Spider-Man. Spidey rolled out of the way and counters with the Martelo de Negativa kick from Capoeira, he kicked Kraven back hard on the ground.
"Kingpin was right about you, I've underestimated you." Kraven said on the ground.
"So Kingpin has sent you to kill me, you work for him too? Who is he?" Spider-Man wants answers from Kraven.
"You're mistaken, I don't work for Kingpin and I don't care about his agenda, I'm only here for my biggest challenge, you." Kraven corrects Spider-Man.
"But why me?" Spider-Man is curious.
"I've gone against the most dangerous creatures there ever is and won, every time. For years, I've been unsatisfied as there wasn't another hunt worthy of my caliber, until you came along, I finally found a challenge of a lifetime. When I defeat you Spider-Man, I shall mount your head on my wall as a trophy." Kraven explained his mission to Spider-Man.
"I'm gonna have to pass on that head thing, I like my head right where it's at." Spider-Man says to Kraven.
Kraven pulled out his machete as he charges in swing as Spider-Man dodged every swing. Spidey is doing his best to avoid the blade but this guy is unusually strong, like his abilities are unnatural. Kraven thrust his machete but Spider-Man moved and grabbed his wrist and tossed him over his shoulder down hard. Spider-Man then webs him up for good measure.
"Amazing... no creature has ever got the best of me, this is an honor." Kraven is excited that he's being challenged.
"Well, you can think about this moment once you're in prison." Spider-Man says to a webbed up Kraven.
"Oh, this is only a test, the real challenge will soon begin." Kraven smiled as he tossed a smoke bomb.
The whole area is engulfed in smoke as Spider-Man can't see through the smoke, Kraven uses a blade to cut himself out of the webbing. Sometime the smoke disappears as Spider-Man can see clearly again but finds out that Kraven is gone too.
"He's gone, though I don't think that this is the last I've seen of him. There's nothing I can do right now." Spider-Man fires off a web line and swings away.
Spider-Man is leaving the zoo as Kraven is still nearby watching Spider-Man leave. He walked over to the torn piece of the suit that Kraven scratched off with his arrow. He picked it up and held it to his nose as he started to smell the scent off, he now got Spider-Man's scent.
"You have won this round, but the hunt is far from over. You can run but you can't hide. I will find you Spider-Man, that's a promise." Kraven isn't done with the hunt yet.
"Sergei!" Calypso is coming wearing a hooded coat.
"My love, why are you here?" Kraven is surprised by her appearance.
"Mr. Fisk wants to see you about Spider-Man, he sent his men to fetch you." Calypso tells her beloved.
"Then let's not make Fisk wait any longer, let's go." Kraven says to Calypso.
Kraven and Calypso left the area with Fisk's men to see the man himself.
Peter came back home to Queens as he climbs into his bedroom, he could tell that it's quiet around the house. He removed his suit and noticed a cut on it from Kraven's arrow.
"Great, need to fix this cut. But right now, I need to know everything about this Kraven the Hunter." Peter says to himself.
Peter changed into his regular clothes as he sits down and uses his laptop to use the internet. He uses the search engine and types in 'Sergei Kravenoff' and got some results. He found some articles on a Russian man who made quite the reputation hunting the toughest beasts there ever is, became the world's greatest hunter.
"This guy is a genuine hunter, he's hunted the toughest creatures there is, now he's branching out into hunting me. His abilities on the other hand didn't seem natural, he could be an enhanced individual. Which means that he could be my toughest enemy to fight." Peter says in his thoughts.
Peter looked around to see that it's 11 o'clock close to midnight, he needs his sleep for school, though he does have something else on his mind, or in this case... someone. He lays in his bed trying to sleep but the only thing he's got on his mind right now is Gwen. The single thought of Gwen Stacy in her beauty is the only thing that comforts him in his sleep.
It's midnight the next day at Fisk Tower as Kraven and Calypso were summoned to see the Kingpin and his assistant.
"So you're the Kingpin, I've heard so much about, Mr. Fisk." Kraven dared say his name.
"I am, and you be wise not to use my name, understand?" Kingpin says to Kraven.
"Of course... Kingpin." Kraven smiled without fear.
"I understand that you've had a encounter with Spider-Man, is that correct?" Kingpin says to Kraven.
"I see that your spies serve you well. Yes, we faced each other. He's definitely the genuine article you've told me so much about." Kraven tells about his encounter with Spider-Man.
"I hired you to dispose of him and yet he's still out there, ruining my control over this city. If Spider-Man is too much for you, then maybe I should've hired someone else to finish the job." Kingpin is disappointed in Kraven's failure.
"Let's be clear, you big fat gorilla!" Kraven said an insult to Kingpin.
Kingpin got insulted by Kraven, making him a bit angry, James Wesley could see that his boss is not happy.
"I don't work for you, I do not care about your control over this city. I'm only here for me, this Spider-Man is my prey to hunt, and no one will stand in my way, not even you... Fisk." Kraven dared say his name again.
Kingpin slammed his fist down hard on the desk in anger, making Wesley and Calypso flinched, but Kraven didn't as he's not afraid of him.
"You dare say my name! You insulted me! Do you have any idea who you're dealing with?! I can destroy you and everyone you love, Mr. Kravenoff!!!" Kingpin says to Kraven in anger.
"You want to face me, Fisk? I'll be more than happy to challenge you. But if anything happens to my loved ones, I will hunt down those you love too, remember that I'm a hunter." Kraven threatened Kingpin.
Kingpin and Kraven are threatening one another with the loved ones of the other. Kraven saw the portrait of Wilson Fisk with his wife Vanessa and their son Richard. Kraven too has a family, a son and a daughter.
"I will hunt down this Spider-Man and kill him, my way! Understand, Fisk?" Kraven then leaves the room with Calypso.
Kraven and Calypso left the room as Wilson Fisk is still angry for the way Kraven insulted and threatened him. Kingpin got up and flips the desk over in anger, he then tossed the chair hard at the wall, his assistant walked out of the room without disturbing him, leaving Fisk to deal with his anger.
Sometime in the morning as Peter has woken up a bit earlier than before, he's a bit busy fixing up the suit from his fight with Kraven.
"With the snowy winters ahead, I should invest in those expensive skintight thermals to keep me warm." Peter said in his thoughts.
The door knocked as Aunt May is outside, Peter decided to hide the costume under the bed as he panicked a bit, he doesn't want her to find the suit.
"Peter, are you awake?" May says outside the door.
"Ah? Yeah, I'm awake Aunt May!" Peter says to May.
"Okay! Breakfast is ready!" May says outside the door.
"Great! I'll be there in a minute!" Peter says to May.
Peter sighed in relief as he didn't allow May to come inside to find him working on his suit. He has a good reason to keep her in the dark about his double life as Spider-Man, but it's hard for him to lie to her every time.
At the hideout that Kraven and Calypso uses during their stay in the city, they both slept in bed after having intercourse with one another after last night's hunt. Calypso is resting against his chest as both are covered in a blanket, she woke up and sees Kraven sleeping.
"Morning my love." Calypso tried to wake him.
Kraven slowly wakes up and smiled at Calypso. "Morning Calypso."
"I trust that you were satisfied after everything that happened last night." Calypso says to Kraven.
"I have you to thank for that, my love." Kraven smiled at Calypso.
Kraven and Calypso kiss each other until Kraven got off the bed and walks over to clean himself as Calypso smiled as she watched and liked what she sees. Kraven is showering as he still has work to do.
"Are you still going to hunt Spider-Man again?" Calypso still in bed, asking Kraven who is washing himself.
"Of course, now that I have his scent, I will find him more easily. There's no place he can hide from me this time." Kraven finished cleaning him.
He came out as he wearing a towel around his waist, he walks up to his hunting gear and started to dress up for his next challenge, this time to hunt down Spider-Man with everything he's got.
It's lunchtime at Midtown High as everyone is on break chatting and eating. Peter can sees Harry talking with Mary Jane, for a guy who's not used to making a move, he's definitely good, something Peter isn't yet.
"Peter?" Gwen says to Peter behind him.
Peter turned around and sees Gwen Stacy here in her beauty.
"Oh... hey Gwen." Peter blushed a bit.
"Mind if I sit down?" Gwen asking Peter.
"No, not at all." Peter smiled at Gwen.
Gwen sits next to Peter as he's feeling a little nervous being in her presence. Both Peter and Gwen watched as Harry and Mary Jane continue to talk with one another.
"Can you believe that Harry liked Mary Jane this entire time?" Gwen is surprised by this.
"Yeah, this came as a surprise to me too. Guess that love is in the air." Peter smiled at Gwen.
"Guess that it is." Gwen smiled back at Peter.
Peter and Gwen still remained friendly with one another as neither of them has told the other about their feelings for one another.
At the same time as Harry and Mary Jane talk, they too noticed Peter and Gwen sitting together.
"Do you think that they're talking about us?" Harry is curious about Peter and Gwen.
"Maybe, though I think that they're dealing with their own relationship with each other." Mary Jane says to Harry.
"I could tell that those two love each other, though neither of them has told the other. I asked Peter about why he hasn't told Gwen his feelings for her, but he said that it's..." Harry got cut off by Mary Jane.
"Complicated, I know. He told me that too." Mary Jane finished says Harry's word.
"So are you okay with them being together?" Harry asking Mary Jane.
"What do you mean?" Mary Jane is curious about that question.
"I know that you and Peter spend a lot of time together, I was wondering if you two are..." Harry is curious about Mary Jane's relationship with Peter.
"Oh, no. I mean he's cute and everything, but we're only friends." Mary Jane blushed a bit.
"Sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable. I know that your aunt and Peter's aunt wanted to pair you two up since before you both met." Harry says to Mary Jane.
"Yeah, but he and I were only kids back then, neither of us were at the point that we have an attraction for the opposite sex." Mary Jane says to Harry.
"Yeah, but now you're both teenagers, so having an attraction for the opposite sex should be natural to you both." Harry says to Mary Jane.
"True, but Peter only sees me as a friend, besides I don't think that I'm his type. Gwen on the other hand is just as smart as he is, they both have a passion for science. As for me, I'm just a drama student who wants to get into acting, I'm pretty sure that Peter wouldn't be interested in someone like me." Mary Jane says to Harry.
"Maybe, but I like you for who you are, a beautiful girl who isn't afraid to stand up to boys and would often be kind to her friends, that's the girl that I like." Harry says to Mary Jane.
Mary Jane blushed a bit as did Harry after he finally said those words to her.
"So you like me?" Mary Jane still blushed a bit.
"You mean do I 'like' like you? What if the answer is... yes." Harry is blushing as he said those words to Mary Jane.
"Wow... I had no idea that you had such strong feelings for me." Mary Jane says to Harry.
"I know that for years that you and I were only friends, but lately my heart beats when I think about you. You're an amazing girl MJ, someone that any guy would be lucky to date with." Harry smiled as he said those words to Mary Jane.
Mary Jane felt really special as Harry Osborn said those words to her, she hasn't had the best luck with boys since she's still carry the scars that her father inflicted in her soul, she always thought about avoiding romantic relationship since her parents marriage was a failure. Her parents loved each other deeply and got married at such a young age, their love gave birth to her, but eventually their marriage was in trouble and soon enough it was broken in pieces that no one can put it back together. For the first time in her life, she thought about pursuing a serious relationship with a guy.
Meanwhile outside Midtown High as Kraven followed the scent he got from Spider-Man, he tracked to Queens that lead him to Midtown Science High School. He sees a lot of teenagers on break outside the school grounds.
"So this is where Spider-Man is, a school? No matter, you're in there somewhere and I will find you, Spider." Kraven said to himself.
Kraven walked up onto school grounds as everyone sees a man with a lion's vest walking towards the entrance. A couple of resource officers spotted a strange individual on the school grounds, they pulled out their guns and aimed it at Kraven.
"You! Stop right there!"
Kraven tossed a gas bomb on the ground as knockout gas is pouring out, the resource officer unfortunately breathed in the gas as they lose consciousness and collapsed on the ground. The students then run out as a strange man is entering the school.
(In the courtyard)
Flash and the others heard about a strange man here in the school looking around. Peter is still sitting with Gwen.
"Hey! Didn't you guys hear? There's this strange guy in a lions vest inside the school sniffing around the hallway." Flash tells everyone.
Peter recognize that description, a man in the lion's vest, it's gotta be Kraven, he's here in the school.
"I should go, excuse me Gwen." Peter got up and left.
Mary Jane then sees Peter leaving as she got up and followed him.
Peter looked inside the school until he spotted Kraven in the hallway, he hid behind the wall. He could see that Kraven is sniffing around.
"What's going on Tiger?" Mary Jane is behind Peter.
"Kraven's here." Peter remained hidden.
Mary Jane took a peek and sees Kraven looking around classroom to classroom, she went back hiding with Peter.
"What's he doing here?" Mary Jane whispered to Peter.
"I think that he's tracking, he must've followed my scent to here." Peter whispered to Mary Jane.
"Do you think that he knows who you are? That you're Spider-Man?" Mary Jane whispered to Peter.
"I don't know, I hope not. He's still searching, though it's only a matter of time until he finds me." Peter whispered to Mary Jane.
"I have an idea, give me your jacket." Mary Jane asking Peter for his jacket.
"What?" Peter is confused to her request.
"Trust me." Mary Jane says to Peter.
Peter took off his jacket and hands it to Mary Jane, she then puts it on as Peter is confused to what Mary Jane has planned.
"Okay, now what?" Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Now you should go and change, I'll try to keep him off your back and buy you some time while you change into Spider-Man. Now go." Mary Jane tells Peter.
Peter then left outside to find a place to change into his suit. Mary Jane is still inside as she then walks away to hide.
Kraven is still tracking until he caught a scent, it's Spider-Man's. He followed the scent as it lead him to a classroom, he opened the door and found a red haired girl wearing a jacket.
"You're not Spider-Man, though you do smell of him. Where is he?" Kraven wants answers from Mary Jane.
"I don't know." Mary Jane is getting nervous.
"I'll ask again, where is Spider-Man?" Kraven asking Mary Jane again.
Harry came into the hallway and sees Kraven with Mary Jane.
"Hey! Get away from her!" Harry yells out to Kraven.
Kraven turns around and walks to Harry.
"You are a brave boy, I can see that you feel something strong for this girl, I admire that." Kraven says to Harry.
"Hey Kraven!" Spider-Man says behind Kraven.
Kraven turns around and sees Spider-Man here in the flesh.
"Hi." Spider-Man surprised Kraven.
Sometime later, Spider-Man kicked Kraven out of the school as he fell back onto the courtyard. Spider-Man came out of the school landing in a three point stance.
"If you wanted to fight me, do it outside the school. Leave everyone else out of this." Spider-Man tells Kraven.
"Very well, it's only you I want. Given that I traced your scent here, tells me that you're a teenager like everyone else here." Kraven says to Spider-Man.
Kraven pulled out his bow and draws an arrow from his quiver, he started firing off some arrows at Spider-Man, thanks to his spider sense he's able to predict the incoming arrows as he dodged every single one of them, to him the arrows looked like they're moving slowly making it easy for Spider-Man to dodge.
Kraven is having trouble as Spider-Man has avoided all his arrows, Spider-Man has a great reaction time thanks to his spider sense. Kraven ran out of arrows as he dropped his bow, he pulled out his machete.
"You never cease to amaze me, Spider. You truly are the greatest challenge." Kraven gives his compliments to Spider-Man.
"Geez, thanks." Spider-Man says with humor.
Kraven came charging in as he swings his machete at Spider-Man but he jumped over Kraven and webbed the machete off his hands. Kraven is unarmed as Spider-Man lands behind him and Kraven turns around.
"I don't need my weapons to kill you, I'll kill you with my hands!" Kraven has his fists ready.
Kraven came in fast as he throws the first punch, Spider-Man blocked with his arms. Kraven has proven to be an expert combatant even with his enhanced abilities. Spider-Man is predicting the fists that Kraven throws at him, he blocks and dodged every punch. Spider-Man pulls back and counters with a head kick, Kraven felt the pain as he shakes it off and recovers his sense. Spider-Man runs and does the dropsault, he then lands in a three point stance.
Kraven slowly pulled out a bola as he turned around and tossed it at Spider-Man, but he jumped up over the bola and shot a web line at it, he then tossed it back to Kraven as it wrapped itself around him, he got trapped in his own bola. Kraven is defeated by Spider-Man as he's trapped.
"You've defeated me Spider, you've earned my respect." Kraven says to Spider-Man.
"Flattered, but you're still going to jail." Spider-Man says to Kraven.
Kraven was secretly cutting his way out as he broke free from the bola, Spider-Man is surprised that he's free.
"I'm still man enough to know that have lost this game. I shall not pursue you any longer, so long." Kraven was about to leave until he stopped. "One more thing, since you won, I'll give you a prize."
"What kind of prize?" Spider-Man is curious.
"The man who hired me to kill you, the Kingpin. You still want to know who he is?" Kraven offered Spider-Man information about the Kingpin.
"Of course, tell me." Spider-Man wants to know.
"Don't know much, just a name... Fisk." Kraven gave a name.
"That's it, just Fisk." Spider-Man says to Kraven.
"I've told you all I know, good luck on your hunt. We shall meet again someday Spider." Kraven holds a flash bang.
He tossed it on the ground and a bright flash lit up, Spider-Man had his eyes closed, but by the time he opened them again, Kraven is already long gone. Though this fight wasn't for nothing, he managed to keep anyone else from getting hurt by Kraven, and he finally got a clue to the Kingpin's identity, someone named Fisk.
Spider-Man looked around and sees some students clapping for him as he saved their lives again.
"Gotta say, this is the second time you saved our asses again." Flash says to Spider-Man.
"Just happened to be in the neighborhood, glad that I could help. So long Midtown!" Spider-Man swings away from the scene.
Everyone watched as he made it to the rooftop of the school and disappeared.
Sometime later after school, Harry is outside alone as Mary Jane came by to see him.
"Hi Harry." Mary Jane came to see Harry.
"Hey MJ, I'm glad that you're okay." Harry smiled at Mary Jane.
"I am now thanks to you, you came to my rescue, that was the bravest thing you did." Mary Jane smiled at Harry.
"Well... I couldn't just stand by and watch as you were in danger." Harry blushed a bit.
"I'm glad that you did." Mary Jane smiled at Harry.
"Listen... I was wondering if you'd like, we could... go out sometime." Harry says nervously to Mary Jane.
"Like a date?" Mary Jane says to Harry.
"Yeah, like a date. Is that yes?" Harry is wondering.
Mary Jane kissed Harry on the cheek as he blushed some more.
"That is a yes." Mary Jane smiled at Harry.
"Great." Harry smiled while blushing.
"Great." Mary Jane blushed a bit too.
"See ya." Harry smiled as he walks away.
Peter came by to see Mary Jane looking at Harry.
"What did you see?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"Enough... I'm happy for you MJ, you deserve to be happy." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Thanks Tiger, you deserve happiness too." Mary Jane looks at Gwen.
Peter and Mary Jane looks at Gwen who is walking out of school.
"Don't wait up too long Tiger." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"Excuse me?" Peter says to Mary Jane.
"A girl that wonderful like Gwen Stacy comes around once in a lifetime, don't miss your chance, find your happiness, you deserve that." Mary Jane says to Peter.
Peter can't deny that he loves Gwen Stacy than he ever thought was possible for a guy like him. He wonders if he can give Gwen the kind of life she deserves, he wonders if he's good enough to be with Gwen because of his double life as Spider-Man. But a part to him wants to be together with Gwen, he loves her.
Meanwhile as a freighter has left New York City, Kraven and Calypso watched the city they're leaving behind.
"So you're leaving this city and your chance for glory?" Calypso asking Kraven.
"I am, though he and I will face each other again someday. When we do, I shall make sure that I emerge victorious. But for now, I must get back home to Russia to see my family." Kraven say to Calypso.
Kraven pulls out a photo of his younger self with his ex-wife along with their six year old son Alexei and their newly born daughter Anastasia. His children are fully grown up and living back home in Russia, they're the only family he's got left and he loves them.
Later at night at Fisk Tower, James Wesley came into the office as Wilson Fisk is watching down the window at the city.
"Anything Wesley?" Wilson Fisk asking his assistant.
"Nothing, Sergei Kravenoff and his lover are both missing, and Spider-Man is still alive and breathing." James Wesley says to Wilson Fisk.
"We have to assume that Sergei had failed. Any chance that he told Spider-Man anything about me?" Wilson Fisk is curious.
"It's hard to tell, sir." James Wesley says to Wilson Fisk.
"If Spider-Man knows anything about my real identity, then that makes him more dangerous than ever. He must be eliminated, permanently this time." Wilson Fisk says to James Wesley.
Wilson Fisk is getting too worried that Spider-Man might know who he is now, with that information in Spider-Man's hands, he could potentially destroy both Wilson Fisk and the Kingpin in one stroke.
