Volume I: Mysterio
Note: This will be the sixteenth chapter of Volume I, this chapter will introduce Quentin Beck and his road to becoming Mysterio. This will also introduce Patsy Walker who made an appearance in 'the Daily Bugle' chapter as a teen actress. Valentines Day will play a factor in this story as Peter will soon explore romance with someone who has taken an interest in him, you'll have to read to find out.
Its February 12th, as the snow is dying down and melting, Valentines Day is coming soon as everyone is outside shopping for gifts to give to their Valentine. Peter and Mary Jane are both in Time Square looking are the stores.
"Valentines Day is coming and everyone is shopping for gifts, how romantic." Peter says sarcastically.
"Come on Tiger, this the day of the year where everyone can express what they feel for one another." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"Well if you're asking me, I'd say that Valentines Day is a Hallmark holiday engineered by corporate executives to convince everyone to spent money on gifts, flowers, and meals." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Wow, someone is down with love." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"I'm not down with love, it's just that I don't have anyone to date with, besides it's not like I'm ever to spend Valentines Day with anyone being Spider-Man." Peter explained his reasons not to celebrate.
"What about Gwen? It's been more than a month since you two kissed on Christmas Eve and neither one of you talked about it since then. Why can't you just buy her a gift and ask her to be your Valentine?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"MJ, you know exactly how I feel for Gwen and how much I want to be with her." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"There's going to be a 'but' and it involves being Spider-Man, am I right?" Mary Jane made a guess.
"Yeah." Peter admits to Mary Jane.
"Tiger, do you love Gwen?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
Peter sighed. "Yes."
"Then you need to just be brave enough to confess your feelings for her and ask her out for Valentines Day." Mary Jane gave some advice to Peter.
"What happens if I end up disappointing her or I miss my chance?" Peter is worried about screwing it up.
"It's a chance you'll need to take if you want to be with Gwen so badly. You deserve to have some romance in your life, Tiger." Mary Jane encourages Peter.
"Thanks MJ. Speaking of romance, are you and Harry planning anything?" Peter is curious about Mary Jane's relationship with Harry Osborn.
"Honestly I'm not sure. Harry said that he was going to surprise me on Valentines Day." Mary Jane doesn't know yet what Harry is doing.
"If I know him, he'll probably gift you with a giant teddy bear almost as tall as your house." Peter made a guess as what Harry is getting MJ.
"A giant teddy bear, is that normal?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
Peter and Mary Jane then sees a crowd hanging around a movie set in the city, they both decided to look into it. Peter and Mary Jane got through the crowd as they see a limo coming in.
"What is all this?" Peter is wondering about this whole thing,
The limo stopped as the door opens and everyone sees a redhead teenage girl stepping out as the crowd began to get her attention and asking for autographs, Mary Jane is amazed too as she got to see her idol.
"Oh my god, it's her, it's Patsy Walker." Mary Jane is amazed.
"Patsy Walker, that actress from the TV show 'It's Patsy'." Peter remembers who she is.
"The same, can't believe that it's her." Mary Jane says to Peter while watching Patsy Walker.
Patsy Walker is signing some autographs for her fans as she tries to get to the set for the film she's starring in, Mary Jane quickly tries to pull out a small notebook and tries to get an autograph but unfortunately she made it past the crowd and the bodyguards are blocking the way as no one is allowed onto the set.
"Great, I missed my chance for an autograph with Patsy Walker." Mary Jane is disappointed that she missed her chance.
"Maybe not." Peter is thinking of something.
"What do you mean?" Mary Jane is curious about his idea.
"I'll be back." Peter left the area, leaving Mary Jane alone with the fans.
(Inside the set)
At the director's trailer, the main director is arguing with Quentin Beck who is the special effects artist that works on the set.
"For the last time Beck, the answer is no!"
"Come on, think about it. If we add a real explosion, it might make the movie more lovable to viewers." Quentin Beck suggested to the director.
"We don't have a permit for that, and even if we do, it's dangerous. I'm not going to risk our star's life on a gamble. My word is final Beck, either take it or find another job."
The director walks to the set as Quentin Beck is disappointed that the director didn't like his idea of using a real explosion, but Beck didn't agree with the director's decision.
Meanwhile Spider-Man managed to sneak around and remained hidden among the buildings, he sees the movie set where there's a car in waiting and he checks the trailer for Patsy Walker.
"So they're making a movie here in the city and I get a sneak peek." Spider-Man says in his thoughts.
Spider-Man sees Patsy Walker walking out of the trailer and all dressed in a black catsuit as she plays a teenage spy or something.
"All right Patsy, remember the lines?"
"Of course, I memorized it." Patsy is all ready for the role.
"Alright, take the wheel."
Patsy enters the car as she's turning it on, the director is sitting in his chair with the crew recording the pictures and sounds. There is a pickup truck with men on the back with prop guns filled with blanks.
"And... action!"
Patsy drives the car around as the pick up is chasing after it and the men are shooting blanks at the car. Spider-Man sees that no one is getting hurt and that everything is an act.
Patsy kept driving the car through some traffic cars in the way, unknown to anyone there is a mortar nearby hidden ready for the big effect that Beck placed without the director's consent. Spider-Man keep watching from a distance as his spider sense is tingling, it means danger is nearby.
Patsy is doing some maneuvers as the men are still shooting, one of them pulled out a launcher for the act. Patsy look at the mirror and sees the launcher as she rehearsed it perfectly. She kept on driving until the mortar did it's part and blew up, the car she's driving flipped over from the explosion with Patsy still inside. Everyone became shocked, including the actors doing the role.
"Oh no, I think that she's hurt for real!" Spider-Man jumps down to swing to the crash.
Patsy is injured as she's trapped inside the car that is upside down, she then notice something smells and leaking, it smelled like gasoline and the hood is starting to burn up a bit but the fire will soon grow and light up the gas, she's in real danger.
"Help! Please help me!!" Patsy is calling for help.
Spider-Man made it in time to find Patsy Walker trapped inside.
"Stay calm, I'm going to get you out!" Spider-Man says to Patsy.
Spider-Man is pulling the driver door hard as the fire is growing and the car will soon blow up. Spider-Man removed the seat beat as he pulled Patsy out of the car, Patsy yelled out in pain as something is hurting.
"I got you!" Spider-Man pulled Patsy.
Spider-Man's spider sense is tingling hard as he reacted quickly and jumps far as he can and swings away with Patsy. The fire reached the gas line and blew up the car as everyone watched and got shocked as Patsy was inside.
Their fears were relieved until they see Spider-Man with an injured Patsy Walker in his arm, he just saved her life. Everyone rushed to see Patsy Walker is saved but injured.
"It's okay, you're safe now. How are feeling?" Spider-Man asking Patsy.
"It's hurts, my back feels funny." Patsy described the pain she's in.
"Patsy, I've called the ambulance, it's on it way."
"How did this happen? I thought these scenes were safe?" Spider-Man is curious as to what happened.
"It's supposed to be, I don't understand anything."
"Director! We found this hidden where the blast came from."
The crewmen found a mortar that was the cause of this accident.
"A mortar? Who put that there?" Spider-Man is curious who is responsible.
The Director took a close look and figured out who is behind it, he turns around to see Quentin Beck hiding.
"Beck!"
Quentin Beck panicked and ran away from the scene as Spider-Man jumps up and chases after him. Beck sees a vehicle nearby he plans to use for an escape but before he could reach it, Spider-Man webs him up and traps him. The Director came along with the crew.
"Is this your man?" Spider-Man asking the director.
"Yeah, that's Quentin Beck, he's the one who place the mortar without a permit."
Quentin Beck struggles to get free. "I'll get you for this Spider-Man! Payback! You hear me!"
(Sometime Later)
The police and the paramedics are on the scene as the crowd including Mary Jane sees Patsy Walker on a stretcher being loaded onto an ambulance, everyone got worried for her.
The police has Quentin Beck for purposely endangering someone's life and is in handcuffs now as the news crews and reporters are watching the whole thing.
"I'll get you for this Spider-Man if it's the last thing I do!!" Quentin Beck yelled out in anger.
The police puts him in the back of a squad car, the car then drove way to lock him up in jail for his crime. Though everyone including Mary Jane are more worried for Patsy Walker who seemed in bad shape from the accident.
Meanwhile at Fisk Manor, Wilson Fisk is in the workout room lifting weights to maintain his exceptional strength. He still thinks of ways to get rid of Spider-Man since sending the Chameleon backfired on him and he had to lay low after reluctantly dropped the charges against Spider-Man to avoid anyone asking the wrong questions, including his wife.
James Wesley enter the room as he got recent reports on Spider-Man that Fisk will want to see. Fisk finished lifting and got up to see his assistant waiting for him.
"Anything new Wesley?" Wilson Fisk wipes the sweat with a towel.
"You asked me to find any reports related to Spider-Man, I found something." James Wesley hands him a table.
Wilson Fisk holds the tablet and watches today's new concerning Spider-Man saving Patsy Walker and taking down Quentin Beck.
"Today as teen actress Patsy Walker was rehearsing a film, she got into an accident as the blast flip the car over and seriously injured Ms Walker, Spider-Man arrived just in time to save the teen star from certain death. It has been confirmed that Quentin Beck, a special effects artist is responsible for the incident that nearly killed Ms Walker and attempted to escape until Spider-Man stopped him right in his tracks. We have captured a footage of Beck arrested by the police."
"I'll get you for this Spider-Man if it's the last thing I ever do!!!" Quentin Beck yelled out in anger.
"Meanwhile Ms Walker has been taken to the hospital as fans everywhere are wishing her well on her recovery."
"Hmm, interesting. We may have found a potential candidate to test out Mason's new invention." Wilson Fisk has an interest in Quentin Beck.
"Beck? But he's just a special effects artist." James Wesley is confused.
"Exactly, and he has a personal vendetta against Spider-Man. Revenge is a best motivator. What is his status?" Wilson Fisk wants to know.
"He's currently locked up inside a police precinct to be transferred to prison until trial, his bail is amounted to 250,000 dollars." James Wesley explained Beck's situation.
"Bail him out and take him to see Mason." Wilson Fisk orders Wesley.
"Yes sir." James Wesley accepted the order.
Wilson Fisk plans on to strike back against Spider-Man after a month of waiting. He believes that this Quentin Beck could become useful to him in his war against Spider-Man.
At the hospital in the city, Patsy Walker is taking an x ray to see the damage she felt in her back.
The doctors sees what happened to her and isn't too happy with the results.
(Sometime later)
Spider-Man is waiting in the hall along with the Director and close friends of Patsy. They see Patsy coming out in a wheelchair with the doctor.
"Doctor, how is she doing?" Spider-Man asking the doctor.
"She's alive thanks to you Spider-Man, but unfortunately the injuries from the accident has damaged her spine, she's temporarily paralyzed from the waist down to her legs and feet, she may not walk anytime soon."
"What? This can't be happening? How long do I have to recover?" Patsy is curious about her condition.
"It's tricky Ms Walker, we can try surgery to fix the damage done to your back though there's no guarantees that It'll be a success, and even if it does work you'll have relearn to walk again and that'll take more time."
"So let me get this straight, if I take the surgery I may end up paralyzed for life, and if does work I'll still have trouble walking." Patsy is understands the odds.
"That's right, it's very unlikely you'll be able to return to acting very soon, I'm sorry Ms Walker."
"Thank you Doctor." Patsy is looking down.
Spider-Man went to check up on Patsy Walker.
"I'm sorry that this happened to you, Ms Walker." Spider-Man is sorry for the situation she's in.
"Don't be, you saved my life. I would've been blown up back at the set if you didn't come to my rescue. Thank you Spider-Man." Patsy thanked Spider-Man.
"Of course, it was my pleasure." Spider-Man says to Patsy.
"Is there anyway I can repay you?" Patsy wants to reward Spider-Man.
"Well... there is one thing." Spider-Man has an idea for a reward.
Patsy is curious as to what Spider-Man wants.
Sometime around sunset at the precinct, Quentin Beck is locked up along with the other felons who got arrested. Beck is still pissed at Spider-Man for his incarceration, a police officer came by and opened the cell.
"Quentin Beck, you're being released on bail!"
Quentin is confused. "By whom?"
(Sometime later)
Quentin left the police station as he got bailed out by someone, he walks down the sidewalk alone until a black sedan is driving by and drove in closer as the window rolled down and James Wesley showed himself.
"Quentin Beck!" James Wesley calls to Beck.
"Who's wants to know?" Quentin Beck kept on walking.
"My employer who arranged your bail and has an offer for you that you won't refuse." James Wesley tells Beck about his employer and his intentions.
"Tell your boss thanks for the bail, but I'm not interested, so see ya." Beck walked away.
"He can help you get even with Spider-Man!" James Wesley tells Beck.
Beck stopped as he heard those words and turns around to see Wesley.
"Get even, how?" Beck is curious.
"My employer can provide you the tools needed to take down the wall crawler, are you interested?" James Wesley says to Quentin Beck.
"Yeah, I'm very interested." Beck wants to get back at Spider-Man.
Wesley opens the door and offers Beck a ride, Beck got inside the sedan as it drives away.
At night in Forest Hills at the Watson Residence, Mary Jane is waiting in her bedroom with her pet Ms Lion that she got from Peter. They gotten so close since she adopted the dog. She sees the bedroom window open as Spider-Man climbs inside and removes the mask. Ms Lion was happy to see Peter as he ran off the bed and went to him.
"Hey Ms Lion, how you been?" Peter says to Ms Lion.
Peter bend down and pet the dog as Ms Lion is happy, Mary Jane got curious as to the news about Patsy Walker.
"Any news about Patsy?" Mary Jane is curious.
"She's alive but the injuries from the accident left her paralyzed from the waist down, the doctors said that it could fixable but risky." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"My god, poor Patsy. I hope that she gets through this." Mary Jane says worried.
"Me too. Oh, by the way, I got something for you." Peter pulled out a picture of Patsy Walker and hands to MJ.
"'For my fan, signed Patsy Walker', thank you Tiger, you're the best." Mary Jane loves it.
"You're welcome. She thanked me for saving her life and she rewarded me with a picture with her autograph." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"I can't believe this had to happened to her, that Beck guy could've killed her." Mary Jane is disappointed in Beck.
"Don't worry MJ, no one is going to have to worry about Mr. Beck anytime soon." Peter assured Mary Jane.
As midnight is closing in, the car stopped by where an abandoned subway station is nearby. Wesley escorts Beck to the secret workshop.
Inside Roosevelt Station, Phineas Mason is preparing the new technology he invented to be used against Spider-Man, he sees James Wesley with Quentin Beck who has been chosen by Kingpin to use this technology.
"So you must be Mr. Beck, welcome to my workshop." Phineas welcomed Quentin Beck.
"What is all this?" Beck is looking around.
"Glad you've asked, behold the latest in advanced technology." Phineas uses the remote.
He summoned some small drones to fly around Beck as he isn't too impressed.
"That's it, drones?" Beck isn't impressed.
"Just watch carefully, behold!" Phineas shows off his work.
One of the drones shines off some light and shows off a image of someone in a bowl helmet, Beck is surprised to see something show up in thin air. Beck reached his hand and it went through the image.
"Whoa! What is all this?" Beck asking Mason.
"What you're seeing is a hologram but more advanced and revolutionized. Each of the drones came equipped with hologram projectors, it looks real and sounds real that you can basically fool anyone." Phineas explains to Beck.
"Wow, now this is beautiful." Beck smiled as he's impressed.
"I'm glad that you're impressed, a man of your artistic talents should make better use of this amazing technology." Phineas says to Beck.
"So you're giving me all this, but what's the catch?" Beck is curious as to the terms.
"My boss wants you to use this technology to destroy Spider-Man, permanently." James Wesley says to Quentin Beck.
"If you want me to kill Spider-Man, then I'll be more than happy to oblige. That Bug is responsible for locking me up, with this technology I'll gladly tear down his life, slowly and painfully." Beck accepted the terms.
The next day at Midtown High, Valentines Day is just a day away as romance is in the air for most of Midtown High, with the exception of a few. Mary Jane is sitting alone as she see Peter trying to approach Gwen Stacy but he stopped and hesitated and walked away.
"Typical Peter, is it really that hard? Seriously, just talk to her." Mary Jane says in her thoughts.
"MJ!" Harry is walking to her.
"Harry, what's going on?" Mary Jane
"Nothing Miss Wonderful Personality, I was just wondering if we could talk." Harry says to Mary Jane.
"Sure, please sit down." Mary Jane tells Harry.
Harry sits down with Mary Jane.
"What is it you wanted to talk about? Is it about us?" Mary Jane is wondering.
"That, and about them." Harry looks at Peter and Gwen still distancing themselves.
"What about them?" Mary Jane says to Harry.
"I've noticed that they don't talk much since December, like they're dealing with something personal that they don't want us to know. Do you have any idea what's going on with them?" Harry is curious about Peter and Gwen.
Mary Jane sighed. "Okay, I might as well tell you since we're together. On Christmas Eve, Peter and Gwen... they've... they've kissed."
Harry is shocked and surprised to hear that they've finally kissed each other.
"No way, that's wonderful." Harry smiled as he's happy for both Peter and Gwen.
"Yeah, but neither of them talked about it since it happened, they still haven't told one another how they felt." Mary Jane says to Harry.
"Really? I thought that they would get together by now, they're perfect for each other." Harry says to Mary Jane.
"I think that Peter is still working up the courage to tell her how he truly felt for her." Mary Jane says to Harry.
"If you're asking me, he's also distracted by another girl in his life." Harry says to Mary Jane.
Harry and Mary Jane looked at the pretty cheerleader Liz Allan, who is also taken an interest in Peter, making her Gwen's competition at romance.
"Of course, Liz Allan, the popular cheerleader and Flash's ex. She gotten close to Peter since last summer when he stood up to Flash and he tutors her when she's falling behind in science, she even calls him Petey." Mary Jane tells Harry.
"Well I can't deny that Liz is very pretty and Pete would be very lucky to have her as a girlfriend." Harry says to Mary Jane.
"Seriously, who's side are you on?" Mary Jane gave Harry the look.
"Easy MJ, I'm still on Gwen's side since she's my friend too, but Peter is like my brother and I want him to find a girlfriend too. He'll have to make a choice at some point of who he wants, Gwen or Liz." Harry says to Mary Jane.
Mary Jane sighed. "Okay, then I'll have to talk with Gwen about this, hopefully I could try to convince her to talk with Peter."
The school bell rang as break time is over and class is starting soon.
"Time to go, bye MJ." Harry kissed Mary Jane on the cheek.
Harry then left for class as she smiled that she liked the kiss, though they are somewhat dating, they've never kissed like Peter and Gwen have. Mary Jane is still unsure about their relationship as fear is holding her back like it's holding back Peter and Gwen. She began to taken in interest in Harry as something more than just a friend.
Later afternoon as the studio is packing up the equipment as the production of the movie starring Patsy Walker has been halted due to the star being paralyzed.
"Can't believe that after months of setting up and money spent on production has gone down the drain."
"I know, poor Patsy had to suffer the worst of it and is now paralyzed."
"Yeah, it's all Beck's fault that this happened, that man is a total wack job."
The crew then got surprised by the smoke appearing around the set as a man in a bowl wearing a green suit and purple cape appear before their eyes.
"What the fu-"
"Silence! You thought that you're rid of me! Think again!" Mysterio speaks with a scrambled voice.
Mysterio has then grown large as he then holds out his hands and fires off some lasers at the cars around, blowing them up. The crew panicked as they ran in fear from him.
Mysterio chuckled. "That's right! Run!"
Meanwhile Spider-Man is swing through the city on patrol until he got the alert.
"All units, an unknown entity is wrecking havoc near Time Square."
"Time Square? That's the site of the movie production where Patsy Walker got hurt. I wonder what this whole thing is about. Better check it out." Spider-Man swings
Spider-Man then proceed to Time Square to check out the disturbance that is happening there.
He managed to make it as he sees everyone near the site is running away in fear. Something or someone is give them quite the scare.
Spider-Man got a closer look at the site as the place is wrecked and all the vehicles are burning up, he stopped as the smoke is showing up and someone he never seen before made appearance, a guy with a bowl head.
"Okay, I'll bite. How did you get the fish bowl stuck on your head?" Spider-Man jokes at the guy.
"Insolent Boy, you are no match for the power of Mysterio!" Mysterio introduced himself to Spider-Man.
"Mysterio? I think that I had a bowl of Mysterios for breakfast." Spider-Man jokes again.
"No matter, I'm glad that you're here, it's payback time for the misery you caused me!" Mysterio says to Spider-Man.
"Misery? What did I do?" Spider-Man is confused.
"I'm shocked that you don't remember me? This is where it all started, where you had me arrested!" Mysterio gave a hint at his identity.
Spider-Man is shocked. "Beck?"
"I prefer Mysterio, a bit flamboyant but I like it." Mysterio says to Spider-Man.
"I'd thought you where locked up in jail after that mess you made! How did you get out so fast?" Spider-Man says to Mysterio.
"Turns out that I got friends in high places that I didn't even know about. They provide me with the tools to destroy you." Mysterio says to Spider-Man.
"Being dressed in a fancy costume doesn't make you so tough Beck, you're still that same phony I put away." Spider-Man says to Mysterio.
"You're the phony here, Spider-Man. I'm going to show everyone." Mysterio says to Spider-Man.
"Try it, I put you away before and I'll do it again." Spider-Man says to Mysterio.
"Give it your best shot." Mysterio dared Spider-Man.
"Have it your way!" Spider-Man fires his webshooters.
The webbing is fire at Mysterio but they phased through him as Spider-Man is surprised that it had no effect on him.
"What the..." Spider-Man is surprised.
"My turn." Mysterio makes his move.
The whole area is engulfed in green smoke as Spider-Man is having trouble seeing through it, the smoke disappeared as it's all darkness around him, he still couldn't find Mysterio anywhere until he heard a laughter.
"So what's the spider to do now?" Mysterio's voice is taunting him.
"You can't hide forever, I'll will find you!" Spider-Man says to Mysterio.
"Then let me make it easy for you!" Mysterio's voice speaks.
An image of Mysterio appears as he fires off some lasers as Spider-Man's sense reacted and he jumped over and dodge them, he them proceed to punch Mysterio but ended up punching a pole instead as the illusion of Mysterio disappeared, he hurt his fist.
"You missed!" Mysterio's voice speaks.
Another Mysterio illusion appear as Spider-Man quickly fire off a web line and it through him again.
"Missed me again." Mysterio's voice taunts him.
"Don't get cocky Beck, sooner or later I'll find you." Spider-Man still in the dark.
Mysterio cackled at Spider-Man as he listened to the sound and fired off the webbing at that sound and caught something, he yanked it back at his hand, he holds a miniature drone.
"What the...? What is this?" Spider-Man holds the drone.
Spider-Man puts it away to be looked at later, Mysterio then strikes back by having illusions of swarms of bats coming at him, Spider-Man is having a hard time navigating through the illusion as he walks back believing that bats are attacking him.
"What's the matter, the itsy bitsy Spider-Man is afraid of bats? You had the advantage over me last time and now the tables have turned." Mysterio's voice speaks.
Spider-Man is stepping backwards as he unknowingly walked into the middle of the street.
"Bye bye!" Mysterio's voice speaks.
The illusion wear off as Spider-Man can see clearly again but was too late as a bus came at him at high speed through traffic as Spider-Man got hit hard with Mysterio watching.
"Ouch!" Mysterio says as he saw Spider-Man got hit hard.
The bus kept on driving as Spider-Man is holding onto the side of the bus all injured from the impact, he decided to bail out as he's no good fighting Mysterio in the condition he's in.
Later at the Parker Residence, Mary Jane is waiting for Peter to talk with him about his relationship with Gwen, hoping to convince him to try harder in talking to Gwen another his feelings.
She heard the bedroom window opening as she sees Spider-Man climbing through the window, he took off the mask as she sees that he's in bad shape.
"Oh my god. Tiger, what happened?" Mary Jane is worried for Peter.
"I caught the bus, though I think in this case the bus caught me, hard." Peter jokes in pain.
"Okay, what happened?" Mary Jane is confused by his meaning.
"There's a new villain in town, he calls himself Mysterio." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Mysterio? That's a weird name." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"No debates here." Peter felt pain coming from his shoulder.
"Are you okay?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"I think that my shoulder is dislocated, I need your help to pop it back into place." Peter asking MJ for her help.
"How do I do that?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"Pull my left arm hard and fast." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Is this going to hurt?" Mary Jane is curious.
"Yes, but it's necessary." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Okay." Mary Jane grabbed Peter's left arm. "Ready?"
Peter closes his eyes and nodded his head.
"One, two, and three!" Mary Jane pulled Peter's left arm hard.
Peter felt the pain from the pull as his arm is popped back into place. It was very painful but Peter felt the pain gone in an instant after the shoulder is fixed.
(Later)
Peter is in the shower with his costume on the floor, he felt the water rain down on him as the blood is being cleansed off his body. He shuts off the water as he got out and dressed in his regular clothes.
Mary Jane is still in the bed room alone waiting for Peter to come out, she sees him coming out all dressed.
"How are you feeling?" Mary Jane is curious about Peter.
"Like I got bested by a faceless Jack-in-a-Box." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Any ideas how to find him?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"No, but I do know who he is. It's Quentin Beck." Peter revealed Mysterio's identity.
"That guy who nearly killed Patsy Walker. Wasn't he locked up in jail?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"I thought so too, I called Captain Stacy before coming home, he said that someone paid to bailed him out on a 250,000 bond." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"How did Beck get the money to get out so fast?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"Beck mentioned that he got an ally helping him taking me down. Only one person has the money and resources for all that, Fisk." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Fisk, haven't heard from him in awhile since you saved him and his wife from the Chameleon and he dropped the charges against you." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"I know, but Kingpin isn't the type to forget nor forgive, especially when it comes to me." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"And neither is Beck, he'll come for you again, you know that, right?" Mary Jane says to Peter.
"I know... oh, I forgot one more thing." Peter forgot something.
He picked up a piece of tech he got from his fight, it looked a bit damaged, he shows it to Mary Jane.
"What is that?" Mary Jane is curious about the device.
"I'm not sure, I caught it using my webshooters, it was hidden or cloaked. If I can just figure out what it does..." Peter tinkers with the device.
The device activated as an image of Mysterio appears in the room and surprised both Peter and Mary Jane.
"What the..." Peter is curious about the image.
He got in closer and placed his hand through the hologram and it phased through.
"What is this?" Mary Jane is curious.
"I think that it's a hologram." Peter figured out what it is.
"A holo what?" Mary Jane is confused.
"A three dimensional image made from light, but this seemed more advanced than anything I've ever seen." Peter explained to Mary Jane.
"So all those things you saw..." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"They're all fake, none of it was real. At least now I know what I'm up against the next time I go up against Mysterio. His phony tricks won't work again now that I know what they are." Peter says to Mary Jane.
Back at Roosevelt Station, Mysterio returned to see the Tinkerer after he smiled in victory as he got the upper had against Spider-Man.
"Your tech is amazing Mason, it was truly a masterpiece." Beck took off the helmet.
"Thank you Beck, I'm glad that you're pleased with my work. I figured that you would put it to better use." Mason says to Beck.
"Of course, I am an artist, I make art. It's a shame that most people don't see it. But more on that later, I'm anxious to have another round with Spider-Man, only this time I plan to take him down, permanently and for good. Any idea on how to find him?" Beck asking Mason.
"I might have a way. I've been studying Spider-Man's schedule, on Monday through Friday he always seems to do his activities after 2:30 PM, which leads me to believe that he still goes to school." Mason made some suspicions about Spider-Man.
"So our hero is a kid?" Beck is surprised by the news.
"Correct, now I've ran an algorithm based on his past activities, calculating the time and distance he travels, I was able to narrow it down to one likely spot." Mason shows the location.
The computer screen shows a map of the Five Boroughs, it focuses on Queens and marked Midtown High School as the likely spot to find Spider-Man.
"Midtown Science High School, the site where Spider-Man first appeared, what a coincidence." Beck now knows where to find him.
It's nighttime as Gwen is hanging around at Mary Jane's house, she was introduced to Ms Lion, MJ's new pet. The dog took a liking to Gwen, and she too likes him.
"Cute dog." Gwen smiled as she pets Ms Lion.
"Her name is Ms Lion, Peter found her out in the streets of Queens, all alone. He wanted to keep him but May wouldn't allow it. So me and Aunt Anna both agreed to take him into our home as our new pet. I didn't have the heart to turn away such a cute puppy." Mary Jane says to Gwen.
"That's nice of you, but I take it that you didn't bring me here to talk about Ms Lion." Gwen could tell there's more.
"No, I wanted to talk to you about Peter." Mary Jane says to Gwen.
"Is this about Valentines Day?" Gwen says to Mary Jane.
"Yes, it's been more than a month since you and Peter kissed, neither of you talk about it since then. What's going on? You can tell me?" Mary Jane says to Gwen.
"To be honest I thought Peter was going to talk to me about that night we shared together, but lately he seemed distracted, like he hardly makes time for me or Harry, except for you." Gwen says to Mary Jane.
"Gwen, Peter has a job and he needs the work to help support his Aunt." Mary Jane make an excuse for Peter.
"I know, but I don't think that's the only reason. I've noticed that lately he's gotten a bit closer to Liz than he does me." Gwen suspects the reason.
"I've noticed it too, but that doesn't mean that they're an item, at least not yet. In my opinion, I think that Peter is still new to this whole romance thing, he never had a relationship with a girl before, he's still working on the courage to tell you how he feels for you." Mary Jane says to Gwen.
"Do you think so?" Gwen is curious.
"I do, trust me. Gwen, you need to tell Peter how much you love him, before it's too late." Mary Jane says to Gwen.
Gwen does love Peter, even though Peter said anything about his feelings, she didn't do much to confess her feelings too as she got held back by the fear that Liz might like Peter too. This time she'll have to be the one to tell Peter how much she loves him.
It's noon at Midtown High as it's Valentines Day and most of the students are on break with their respected Valentine. Peter is still thinking about Mysterio as he might have a plan to stop him.
"Now that I know how Mysterio works, I can only hope that my spider sense will come in handy against his illusions. Question is, when and where will he strike?" Peter says in his thoughts.
"Peter." Gwen calls out to Peter.
Peter turns around to see Gwen Stacy speaking to him, they haven't spoken much since she and Peter kissed on Christmas Eve.
"Hey Gwen, Happy Valentines Day." Peter smiled at Gwen.
"Happy Valentines Day Peter." Gwen blushed a bit.
Unknown to them, Harry and Mary Jane are watching them from afar, hoping that today is the day they confess their feelings for each other.
"So..." Peter and Gwen both say in unison.
"You go first." Gwen says being shy.
"Well... no, you go first." Peter is shy too.
Harry and Mary Jane watched as both of them are having trouble speaking up.
"Ah, not again. Are those two ever going to confess?" Mary Jane says in her thoughts.
(Outside Midtown High)
Mysterio is outside Midtown High looking at the school where Spider-Man first made his appearance and saved everyone here.
"So this is where you go to school. How fitting that your fame started here, it's where it'll end today." Mysterio says to himself.
(Inside Midtown High)
Peter and Gwen are still working up the courage to tell one another as Harry and Mary Jane are hoping something will happen. Unknown to them, Liz is watching as Peter and Gwen are together, she had hopes of talking to Peter before Gwen does but she may have yet lost her chance.
"Peter, if you're going to say anything, nows the time." Gwen says to Peter.
Peter sighed. "Okay Gwen. The truth is that I... I..."
"You..." Gwen is waiting for Peter to say the words.
"Gwen, I lo-" Peter got cut off as his spider sense tingles.
Peter looks around the school as smoke is forming around the courtyard, he's seen this smoke before, from Mysterio.
"Mysterio, he's here." Peter says in his thoughts.
"Peter, what's going on here?" Gwen is worried.
"Gwen, get to safety right now!" Peter runs away.
"Gwen, come on!" Mary Jane calls out to Gwen.
Gwen went to join up with Mary Jane, Harry, and the other students starting to panic.
Meanwhile Peter made it inside the school as he went to his locker and pulled out his backpack. He rushed to the restroom to change into his suit for battle.
Back in the courtyard as the students are trying to run away, a wall of fire engulfed their surroundings, trapping them in an illusion with no way out, Mysterio made his entrances and shows himself to the school.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to introduce myself. I am Mysterio." Mysterio introduced himself to the school.
"Mysterio, that names sucks!" Flash yelled out.
"What you think is of no importance to me, I am here for one reason and one reason only, Spider-Man." Mysterio says to the school.
Spider-Man came out and landed in a three point stance as everyone is happy he is here.
"Speak of the devil and he shall appear." Mysterio sees Spider-Man is here.
"Leave them out of this, Bubble Brain! It's me you want, let them go!" Spider-Man demands Mysterio.
"Let them go? No, I want to stay here as I'm about to put on a play starring you and me, and they shall be the audience as they witness your final performance." Mysterio wants them to stay here.
"Then let this fight be just between you and me only." Spider-Man says to Mysterio.
"Very well then, it's showtime!" Mysterio disappears inside as the smoke rises.
Spider-Man along with everyone watched as a giant Mysterio appears before their eyes.
"Let's see if you can take on someone my size!" Mysterio being so big.
"You'll be a whole lot smaller when I'm done with you!" Spider-Man says to Mysterio.
"Yeah! Get him Spidey!" Flash cheers for Spider-Man.
"Kick his ass!" Kong cheered too.
"Wow, the football team became my cheerleading squad, how nice of them." Spider-Man says in his thoughts.
Mysterio then fires a beam of lasers at the crowd to intimidate them, though no one got hurt, just scared.
"Hey!!! This fight is between you and me!!!" Spider-Man yelled at Mysterio.
"Oops, I lied. You want to stop me? Come and get me!" Mysterio taunts him as he does his next trick.
The cloaked drones uses the projectors to cover the whole area in darkness, Spider-Man along with everyone inside are blinded. Spider-Man plans to use his spider sense to help him through the illusion. Spider-Man breathe and closes his eyes.
"Come on spider sense." Spider-Man has his eyes closed.
Spider-Man then charges into the darkness all blind as the miniature drones are projecting the illusion. Spider-Man uses his spider sense to navigate through the illusion as he jumps through and takes down every drone in his path. Mysterio is starting to panic as Spider-Man is destroying the drones one by one.
"That's impossible! Don't get any closer!" Mysterio is trembling in fear.
Spider-Man has succeeded in taking down most of the drones as the illusion is starting to wear off and the darkness is disappearing, everyone can see clearly as Spider-Man is in front of a scared Mysterio.
"Okay, you got me, I surrender." Mysterio hold his hands up in the air.
Spider-Man then quickly reacted as he turns and grabs both Mysterio's wrists and crushed his gauntlets controlling his tech, he caught the real Mysterio who tried to attack Spider-Man off guard with his laser hands, but he failed. The Mysterio before him was an illusion but it disappeared after Spider-Man crushed the controls, Mysterio lost control of his tech.
"You can't trick me anymore." Spider-Man says to Mysterio.
Spider-Man let's go of Beck's wrists and remove his helmet, he then finishes off with a punch to the face, knocking Quentin Beck out cold.
"Looks like I took you down... again, The End." Spider-Man finishes the performance.
Everyone is happy that Spider-Man came to their rescue again as he saved them from Mysterio.
Sometime later at the hospital in the city, Patsy Walker is watching the news of Quentin Beck getting arrested again by police.
"We see Quentin Beck here getting arrested by the police again after he intentionally attacked a school as a criminal who goes by Mysterio, fortunately Spider-Man was there in time to stop him and saved everyone. This the third time Spider-Man saved the school from danger, as we can see the students are happy for the hero."
Patsy is smiling that Spider-Man saved the day again, like he did for her. Patsy is still laying on the hospital bed still paralyzed as her career as a movie star might be over.
Unknown to her, someone is knocking at the door.
"Patricia Walker." Karl Malus asking Patsy.
"If you're a fan then I'm sorry if I'm not in a mood for singing autographs." Patsy says to Karl Malus.
"Oh no, you're mistaken, I'm not a fan, I'm a doctor who is familiar with the condition you're in and I think that I can help you." Karl Malus says to Patsy.
"Help me? How?" Patsy is curious as to his meaning.
"I'm a researcher who studies the human anatomy in hopes of helping them get back what they've lost like yourself. Your condition seemed difficult but not impossible, if my research is right then chance are that you can regain your life again." Karl Malus says to Patsy.
"You're saying that I could walk again." Patsy says to Karl Malus.
"Yes, though the procedure has never been done before and it's experimental, but I believe that it can work." Karl Malus says with confidence.
Karl pulls out his card and gives it to Patsy, she took it.
"Call me if you accept." Karl Malus then left the room.
Patsy holds the card that Malus gave her, it has his phone number and address. Patsy is still unsure if the procedure can return her ability to walk again but she wants her old life back so badly. She's still thinking of whether to take the procedure or not.
Later as the sun is setting, Mary Jane is getting dressed up for her date with Harry Osborn who wanted to make the day special for her. Mary Jane came out of the bathroom and showed Peter what she's wearing for her date.
"So... how do I look?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"Like someone hit the jackpot." Peter smiled as he likes her look.
"Jackpot, good one." Mary Jane smiled as Peter said those words.
"So this thing with Harry seems to be getting more serious than ever, wouldn't you say?" Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Honestly, before I didn't think about me and Harry getting together, but I can't deny that we've been getting more closer since he asked me out months ago, he makes me feel special." Mary Jane described her relationship with Harry.
"Harry is a good guy, in fact he's very brave when it comes to talking about his feelings." Peter admires Harry's courage with talking with girls.
"He is, but you have that courage too. Peter, yesterday after you got hurt by Mysterio, I wanted to talk to you about your feelings for Gwen." Mary Jane says to Peter.
"I was wondering why Gwen came to speak with me all of a sudden. You encouraged her, didn't you?" Peter figured Mary Jane out.
"Yes, she still has feelings for you Peter and you have feelings for her too. Peter, you need to tell her how you felt for her before you lose her." Mary Jane says to Peter.
Peter can't deny that he still has feelings for Gwen since the first moment he had his lips on her saving her life, their relationship grew since they kissed on Christmas Eve.
Mary Jane and Peter both heard a car horn honked outside her home.
"That must be Harry, I should get going. Please Tiger, think about what I said... food for thought." Mary Jane smiled at Peter.
"I will, I promise." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Bye Peter, wish me luck." Mary Jane is walking out the door.
"Good luck!" Peter says to Mary Jane leaving the house.
Mary Jane sees Harry driving a convertible car as she climbed into the passenger seat.
"Ready MJ?" Harry says to Mary Jane.
"Ready, Harry." Mary Jane says to Harry.
Peter is walking out as he sees Harry driving the car away with Mary Jane. He smiled as he's happy for them as they are his best friends.
Later at night at Central Park, Harry and Mary Jane are walking down as Harry has a surprise for her.
"Okay Harry, I give up. What's the surprise?" Mary Jane is curious.
"We're almost there." Harry says to Mary Jane.
Harry and Mary Jane arrived at the spot for the surprise.
"Surprise!" Harry shows the surprise.
Mary Jane looked as she sees a horse carriage with a horse, Mary Jane smiled as she likes what she sees.
"Happy Valentines Day MJ." Harry looked at Mary Jane.
(Later)
Harry and Mary Jane are both sitting in the carriage as the horse is walking around the park as the scene is romantic and the lights are on.
"So what do you think?" Harry says to Mary Jane.
"This is wonderful Harry. Thank you for making me feel like the most special woman in the world." Mary Jane says to Harry.
"You are special to me, Mary Jane." Harry says to Mary Jane.
Harry place his hand on her left cheek of her face as Mary Jane looked back at Harry, they both leaned in together and finally kissed each other for the first time.
Back in Forest Hills at the Parker Residence, Peter is alone in his room thinking about what Mary Jane said about him and Gwen, Peter still thinks about that wonderful moment he and Gwen shared together on Christmas Eve.
(Flashback)
On Christmas Eve, Peter and Gwen are outside of her house as they gazed into each other's eyes as they're in a moment, they see a mistletoe hanging above the door.
"Mistletoe." Gwen whispered.
"Mistletoe." Peter whispered too.
They slowly leaned in closer as they kissed each other under the mistletoe and on a snowy night.
(Present)
At the Stacy Residence, Gwen thought about that wonderful night she and Peter first kissed each other. She picked up a picture of herself with her best friends Peter, Harry, and Mary Jane. She focused on Peter who she began to have romantic feelings for.
She stands up as she decides to go see Peter and tell him what she feels for him.
(Parker Residence)
Peter thinks that he waited too long to talk with Gwen. He wanted to tell her earlier what he felt for her until Mysterio came and ruined the day. He got off the bed and left the room.
Peter walks downstairs as he decided to go seek out Gwen and to finally speak with her.
He opened the door and was about to leave the house until he was surprised to see someone outside.
"Liz." Peter is surprised.
"Hi Petey, is this a bad time?" Liz says to Peter.
"Uh, no. Of course not. I thought you'd be out celebrating Valentines Day with a date." Peter being polite.
"That's why I'm here, I want to celebrate this day with you. Truth is, you're the one I want to be with." Liz confess her feelings for Peter.
Liz leaned in closer and finally kissed Peter for the first time, Peter was surprised too but he didn't turn her away.
Unknown to either of them, Gwen was coming by to see Peter. She sees Peter and Liz kissing each other, she realizes that she was too late. She couldn't stay and watch, she turned back around and walked back home. The kiss ended as they looked at each other's eyes.
"Happy Valentine's Day Petey." Liz smiled at Peter.
Peter is still stunned by the kiss Liz gave him, it wasn't something he expected but he didn't hate it either, if anything he liked it. Liz is a stunning girl and Peter does feel attracted to her, he actually considers having a relationship with Liz Allan.
