Chapter Seven

The time of Great Growing had arrived in the Great Valley. Yes, it was a time when young ones started to grow to their full sizes or for some half way there. The Great wandering herds from the Great Mysterious beyond had return once more to the Great Valley. The herds brought back with them old friends such as Ali, Rhett and Tippy. Little foot could hardly wait to see them again as he did years gone by. He had grown some. So did the other young ones from the Great Valley, they looked differently, but they were yet still the same in many ways. He wondered if Ali and Rhett were still the same, but yet different somehow then the last time Little foot had seen them. Maybe they had grown to be like Little Foot and his friends. Like how Simba had grown up while he was with his friends, Timon and Pumbaa. Maybe Bambi and his friends, Thumper and Flower might be grown. Little foot had grown already. His neck was stretched high in the sky. He could no reach the tree stars by himself without the grownups getting them for him. He could see all around the Great Valley. It was still vast, great and beautiful, but now he see more of it now at one time. His legs were strong as tree trunks. When he now stomped on the ground, it sounded like a sky roar. Little foot was looking more and more like his father, Bron. His friends were different, too. He could barely recognized them now.

Spike was also a lot bigger, too. He had grown bigger. His back had grown big, bony plates in two rows along his back. The plates covered his whole back. Before, they were small bumps on his back. They were bigger now. They were like growing upright serrated sharp teeth pointing out. His tail soon started to get longer. It started growing spikes on the end. At first, the spikes were small and dull, but then, they grew long and sharp. He was more powerful looking, but that was not the biggest change in Spike. Spike could now talk. He could speak in complete sentences without hesitation though he talked slow. Spike preferred to remain the silence type while others talked. He was never shy with his friends. Petrie was also unrecognizable, too. He was darker with bigger wings and longer head spike. His orange beak was longer and sharper. His wings had grown to the size of his mother's wings. He was his mother's size along his other brothers and sisters. His claws grew bigger, sharper, and longer. He could fly longer and faster. Ruby had grown into a beautiful fast runner. She was full of pretty pink feathers. She was already adult size. She looked the same, but bigger. Her blue eyes still sparkled. Ducky's blue eyes were brighter. Her beak and head ridge were bigger and longer. Her whole body was bigger especially her feet. Her claws on her feet and hands were longer.

Cera looked like a bigger version of herself. She had three horns that were very clearly sharp, white, gracefully flawless, and deadly long. Nobody took on Cera. Her parrot beak was orange, hard, as well as elegant. Her frill had grown to up 2 feet all around her neck. A pearl crown that covered her head and neck. As for Chomper, Little foot hadn't seen him in years. He had no idea where the Sharp tooth hatchling that he and his friends had helped raise was. His far wandering friends were probably a lot bigger than he was. He tried to remember their names: Ali, Rhett, Shortie, and Spike's friend, Tippy. Little foot wondered if he would recognize him or whether any of his friends would. Or, more importantly, if he remember them.

All the young flyers decided to race to see who was the fastest.

"Ready, get set, GO!" Little foot yelled. The young flyers would speed all over the Great Valley to see who was the fastest. Petrie went so fast he would crash into trees. "Ouch!"

"Go Petrie!" Little foot cheered as he watched them raced all over the Great Valley.

Petrie gasped for air. "Hack!"

"You did your best, Petrie, you did good. Better luck, next time." Little foot told him.

"Good job," Spike grunted.

"Thank you, my friends." Petrie saluted. "Victory will be mine, another day."

Little foot and Spike nodded their heads in agreement.

"Hurray! I won." A young female flyer said. She smiled at Petrie. Petrie looked surprised. She was a pretty reddish-brown flyer with long wings with sharp delicate claws at the tips. Her eyes were bright blue with long dark eyelashes. She battered them at Petrie. Petrie smiled back with goggly eyes.

"Let's have another race," exclaimed one of Petrie's brothers who had lost.

"Good idea! Three times wins, is the winner." Little foot said.

"You did your best, the best you did." Ruby congratulated Petrie.

"I try." Petrie coughed.

"That's all you can do sometimes, but you can't quit now!" Cera commented.

"Oh no, you can't. No, No! You need look out where you are these next times." Duckie suggested.

"Well, What do you going to say, Hyp? Huh?" Mutt asked as he, Hyp and Nod watched.

"Yah, What are you going to say to that loser?" Mutt asked.

"Nothing! He hasn't lost yet." Hyp said with his arms crossed. Mutt put his fingers in his ears and waved them as he stuck his tongue out at them.

"You guys, never change, do you?" Little foot sighed.

"Yup!" was all Mutt could say.

"The same stupid bullies!" Cera grunted.

"Yup!" Mutt answered.

"It's my turn to tell the flyers when to go. Yup, Yup!" Duckie shouted. The flyers got in their positions.

"How about we make a deal, Spike old boy?" Hyp smiled at Spike as he munched on sweet bubbles.

"Huh?" Spike looked at him.

"If Petrie wins, we will find you more sweet bubbles, but if he loses, you finds us some. What do you say, Spike, old Pal?"Hyp cooed. Mutt and Nod just laughed.

"Ah, huh," Spike agreed shaking his head.

"Spike ! They are trying to trick you." Ruby warned looking concerned.

"Huh?" Spike looked confused.

"Too late, a deal is a deal. No back sees." Hyp bullied.

"Ready, set, Go!" Duckie yelled as Little foot and his friends watched this race as vision came upon Little foot. He wanted to see the race so he tried to stop the vision from happening, but he couldn't. The image appeared before him. It was Bambi. He was rubbed his strange horns that grew on his head on a tree branch. There was that feathery, horned big eyed flyer sleeping on a nearby tree branch. He awoke at the sight of adult Bambi. Little foot was awed by the sight of Bambi. He had grown.

"Bambi!" Little foot said out loud.

"No, it is not Bambi. One who is leading the race is Petrie followed by that girl flyer." Cera said. "Whose Bambi, anyway?"

"No one," Little foot replied.

"I thought so," Cera answered back. It didn't matter to Light foot that vision continue on.

"Hello friend Owl, don't you remember me?" Bambi asked.

"Why it is the young prince, Bambi?" The friend Owl remarked surprised.

Bambi nodded his head in agreement.

"My, my, how you have changed? Turn around there. Let me, look at you." Owl asked. Bambi turned around for him.

"I see you traded your set of spots for antlers. HEEE! " Owl commented. Bambi walked around proudly.

"You know just the other day, I was talking to myself about you. We wondering what had become you." Owl admitted.

"Hello Bambi!" A voice came out of nowhere. Little foot recognized it at once as belonging to Bambi's old friend, Thumper. Little foot smiled.

"Remember me." Thumper said thumping his foot on a log.

"Thumper!" Bambi answered.

"Right O, ha, ha." Thumper laughed while he moved his paw out. Slowly coming out of pretty flowers was a familiar pointed, curved, black and white striped tail while others laughed.

Flower popped his head from out of the flowers "Hello fellows."

"Flower!" Bambi said. Flower shyly turned around and grabbed some flowers to smell.

Just then, some blue birds flew right past them. The young friends are surprised when they look at the birds flying around all over.

"Well, what's happened with them?" Flower wondered.

"Why are they acting that way?" Thumper asked.

"Hee! Hee, Don't you know?" Owl answered, "They are twitter patted." Owl leaned in closer and put his wings to whisper to them.

"Twitter pated ?" The young ones all said together. They looked at each other confused and then to the old owl again.

"Twitter pated?" Little foot said making a weird face.

"Yes, everybody gets twitter pated in the springtime." He told them. He turned around to see if anyone was looking at him. He flew down to nearby tree stump to tell them some more. "For example, you are walking along, minding your own business," He started to walking around the tree stump. "You are looking to left." He moved his head rapidly to left. "Then to the right," He moved his head to the right. "Then all of sudden," He put his wings next to himself as his face looked startled. "You run smack into a pretty face." He put his wings over his eyes and takes them away suddenly. His eyes bulged glaring. He jumped up surprised as he put his wings on top of his head. "Whoa who!"

This scared Flower enough that he jumped on top of Thumper holding him in fright. Thumper looked annoyed so he pushed him off.

"Then you get weak in the knees." The owl trembled with his whole body. "You head is in a whirl!" Owl whirled his head around. "Then you feel light as a feather." Owl started to fly and started to pretend walk on air. "Before you know it, you start walking on air." The young animals watched intently terrified. Owl landed on his tree branch again.

"Then you know what, you are knot for a loop." Owl flipped himself around the branch a few times. The young animals watched still intently scared. "You completely lose your head." The young animals looked at Owl startled. Owl put his head into his body.

"Gosh, that is awful." Thumper exclaimed.

"Yes," Flower agreed.

"Terrible," Bambi remarked.

"That ain't all," Owl said hiding his entire head under his wing. "It can happened to anybody." Owl crept towards them on the tree branch. "So you better be careful." He warned the young animals. "It could happened to you." He pointed directly at Bambi. "And you," He pointed at Thumper. "And ," Owl was going to point at Flower who shyly pointed at himself. "Yes, it could even happened to you." Owl frowned scolding at Flower as he pointed at him. Flower put his hands into his mouth in shock.

"Well, it is not going to happen to me." Thumper said defiantly as he looked at the Owl.

"Me, either," Bambi said as well looking at the Owl.

"Me either," Flower said. Bambi nodded his head.

Little foot's vision was suddenly broken by cheer from the other Great Valley residents.

"Huh," Little foot reacted like from a dream. "What happened?"

"Petrie won!" Cera exclaimed.

"No, he didn't." Ducky said sadly. "He flew off with a girl flyer together. Another flyer won."

"What?" Spike exclaimed.

"Oh dear, Spike made a deal with Hyp." Ruby gasped.

"What? No, no, Spike didn't a deal with Hyp. Did you Spike?" Duckie asked.

"Ah huh." Spike nodded sadly.

"Yup, he was going to give him all the sweet bubbles he could find if Petrie lost and if Petrie won, Hyp was going to give him all the sweet bubbles he could find." Ruby said.

"Oh no, Spike, Why did you agree to that deal?" Duckie asked.

"Sucker! Did Petrie all ready lose so soon already?" laughed Hyp.

"Nah, he just flew off with his girlfriend." Mutt said.

"So, that means we won, Hyp, huh, huh? Petrie left the race to fly around with his gal." Nod replied.

"He did not win or lose. He didn't even race so the deal was off. Right, Hyp?" Cera snorted.

"Yeah, sure, what, where is he? He can't leave the race before he loses? You dummies, find him." Hyp ordered his friends.

"We better go find Petrie." Little foot said concerned. "I hope he isn't Twitter patted." Little foot muttered to himself.
