So it's been two years exactly since this baby came out. #mindblown

And I'm sorry for not updating sooner – I'm back in school and I've gone through a little writer's block.

Chapter 10: Girls Just Wanna Have Waffles

Every time that he looked at her with those beautiful amethyst eyes, Teà felt like she was on fire. And it would only get worse. But in the best way possible. She burned for him, and she hoped the look in her eyes was enough to convey that to him.

His lithe fingers trailed patterns on her shoulders, Teà reacted to it intensely; her breaths came out in small puffs, and goosebumps appeared on her skin. She was practically left in anticipation of his every move: and she wanted even more from him.

Teà wanted him to touch her everywhere, and she led his hands down her body; sparks of pleasure coursed through her veins, and she couldn't help but gasp.

Her breathing became heavier as he leaned in for a kiss…

And sadly enough, Teà just had to wake up. Much to her dismay.

Not for the first time, Teà had one of those steamy dreams that could only be described in romance novels. Or at the very least one that she could remember very, very clearly.

And she had to say that it was incredible.

Even though she was left hot and bothered, if her damp shorts weren't any indication. She wasn't that embarrassed over it, to be honest; she was a teenager on the cusp of young adulthood. These thoughts and dreams were totally normal. So that didn't bother her as much as the fact that she basically cockblocked herself – even though it was just a dream.

It was terribly disappointing.

Teà sighed, as she turned over onto her right side. Messy strands of chestnut hair followed her every move, and some of them landed in her eyes. Yeah, there was no doubt that she looked (and felt) like a wreck right now, unlike what she experienced in her dream.

Why did she have to wake up?

Teà looked towards the alarm clock on her desk, which told her that it was about six o'clock in the morning. She placed her hands over her face, deliberately stretching it. Well there was no way that she was gonna go back to sleep now. Not after experiencing what it looked to be the best sex dream of her life.

She still felt the ache in her stomach; it wasn't hurtful in anyway, but it was an annoying feeling. Maybe this was what she got for having Yami on her mind constantly.

She wouldn't be surprised if her feelings for Yami were starting to become borderline obsessive. After all, she had been thinking about him at least twice a day (this dream didn't count) ever since their rendezvous at the museum. She had been thinking about him ever since he hugged her.

Teà knew her cheeks were burning up at the memory; she hadn't really thought Yami was the type to indulge in physical affection like that – especially in public places. But he surprised her every day.

But it was just a little friendly hug. Nothing more. Teà had to keep reminding herself of that – no matter how much she wanted it to mean something more. Why get her hopes up for nothing?

If she kept thinking like that, she was just gonna end up feeling more depressed. And Teà just would not let that happen.

With that in mind, she wondered briefly what she was gonna do now. She could try to go back to sleep, but she wouldn't be surprised if she wouldn't be able to. She wanted to relive every single part of that dream while she still could.

Teà didn't care if she sounded desperate; it was 3 AM and she was entitled to think and feel how she wanted.

She closed her eyes, hoping that by doing so she would be able to drift back into dreamland. But it was pretty clear that forcing herself to go to sleep would not achieve the result she wanted.

Great.

Instead, Teà forced herself to sit up; there was no point in trying to sleep when she was trying too hard. She could at least grab a drink of warm milk, maybe read the back of a phone book (apparently reading something boring would help you get inspired to fall asleep quicker).

But her attention was grabbed by the flashing light of her phone. She could have sworn that she turned it off before going to bed, but there wasn't any point in contemplating it any further. Just who was texting her at six AM?

Then she realized that it was not a text, but a recommendation to follow someone on Instagram.

In a way Teà was glad; sometimes she would get middle of the night texts from Joey and Tristan, but she was wise enough to ignore those.

But on the other hand, she was a tiny bit disappointed; there was a part of her that was hoping that Yami texted her. But if she had to be realistic, she knew that he wouldn't text her this early. He wasn't that type of guy.

After spending ten to fifteen minutes scrolling through her social media, Teà decided to get her butt out of bed. She may as well go out for an early run around the neighbourhood instead of mindlessly staring at pictures of her favourite celebrities showing off their best lives.

She may as well try to feel just as accomplished as, say, Neil Patrick Harris.

:3 :3 :3

"I like to make myself believe…that planet Earth turns slooooowly," Teà sung, ignoring the stares from the people around her. She knew that they weren't staring at her because of the clothes she was donning this morning (a plain t-shirt and worn leggings). They weren't staring at her sweaty appearance either. No, they were staring because Teà decided to grace the world with her singing voice. It wasn't the best one, to be fair, but she wouldn't let that stop her.

She was kind of glad now that she went out; although the breeze was slightly chilly, at least it was supposed to be a sunny day. When she first got out of her house, the sky was painted a nice mixture of blue, orange, and pink; although it was a pity that Teà never got a full of the sunrise.

Now, it was almost seven thirty; the sun made its appearance, though it didn't reach its peak.

The point was, Teà almost lost track of time. She quickly checked the time on her watch, and any hints of anxiety about missing practice for the recital evaporated. She still had plenty of time.

Two days to be exact.

It wasn't like she was nervous about dancing before a huge crowd of people. She had done it before. She had gone through her fair share of stage fright. But having Yami seeing her dance? The thought of seeing him in the front row almost made her want to collapse. Teà hoped that she could get a grip on her emotions before then. It wasn't like she had ADHD or anything like that, so she figured it wouldn't be a problem.

With that said, Teà slowed down, as she felt her heart race against her chest. If that wasn't an indication that she needed rest, perhaps maybe the fact that her legs were about to melt into the pavement was.

She let out another exhale, before sitting down on the nearest bench. Teà sighed, knowing that this was probably the best warm-up she had in a while.

Heck, she couldn't remember the last time she went on a run.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt a buzz coming from her phone in her pocket.

Unlike before, now someone was texting her.

It was Serenity. One of the few girlfriends that Teà managed to have in her life. When was the last time that she heard from her? Oh yes, when she went out on a date with Tristan a few weeks back; it was kind of hard to forget that, considering that Joey sent her a barrage of passive-aggressive texts wanting her to do something about it.

Still, it was a shame that she hadn't really had time to hang out with her often, considering that Serenity lived with her mom at the other side of the city; Serenity was only a couple years younger than she was, and she didn't go to the same school as her brother. But whenever they did hang out, it was definitely worth the waits in between.

It was nice to talk to someone about 'girl things' and not get judged for it (the only thing they haven't really talked about together were boys, but now that Serenity and Tristan were dating, that might change). It was nice to watch rom-coms without enduring any scathing comments from the boys. And it was also funny to talk about Joey behind his back, but that was besides the point.

Hey, do you feel like grabbing breakfast? I need to get out of the house. T_T

That could be open to interpretation.

Joey?

Joey…

She didn't need anything more than that.

Yeah, of course! Where'd you wanna go?

Only a minute passed before Teà got a reply back.

What about that breakfast diner by the pier? I heard it's supposed to have amazing waffles!

Teà smiled, finding Serenity's enthusiasm for breakfast foods adorable. Yeah, sounds good. Meet you there at 8:30? It wouldn't be the farthest place for them to meet up. It was usually a half hour bus ride to the pier, but granted that Teà was sweaty, she definitely needed time to clean up.

Because apparently nothing was classier than showing up to a restaurant half-painted in sweat.

:3 :3 :3

"Ok, these waffles are amazing," Teà moaned in delight, just as she popped another bite of waffle into her mouth. She normally liked pancakes, but after coming to this cozy little diner, she might have to change allegiances.

The view of the ocean from the pier was breathtakingly beautiful -and it really surprised Teà that she had never really come here before.

Leave it to Serenity to find places like this. And Teà thought that she knew her way around Domino, but apparently there were a few diamonds in the rough she never knew about. And to think that she might have to leave Domino after graduation.

"I know, right?" Serenity giggled, her hazel eyes shining brightly. And as per usual, she looked pretty, with her long, auburn hair straightened, and she even donned a faded yellow t-shirt and denim shorts. Teà didn't think she could ever recall seeing her disorganized at all.

Serenity also took another piece, before drenching it in maple syrup. "I went here with Tristan last week. I couldn't get them out of my head ever since."

"So…you and Tristan," Teà commented, keeping eye contact with Serenity, while she tried to tuck strands of brown hair behind her ear. "You guys have been going out for a while, right?"

"Yeah. Sorry I haven't really talked to you about it much," Serenity replied, as a little blush appeared on her cheeks. "We've been trying to keep it on the DL as much as we could. But I kinda wanted to start telling people."

"Hence the Instagram posts."

"Exactly."

"That reminds me – Joey actually harassed me one day about that," Teà snickered, rolling her eyes in faux annoyance. "Sent me like twenty messages after your first post on Instagram."

"Oh boy," Serenity said softly. "I'm sorry about that."

"It was nothing too drastic."

"Well, it could have been worse."

"That's true," Teà stopped eating to take a moment to adjust her lime-green tank top. "It wouldn't have surprised me at all if he tried following you on your dates."

"It wouldn't surprise me either," Serenity sighed. "He's still antsy when I come over to our Dad's, and Tristan's there with him."

Teà was an only child, so she couldn't imagine what it would be like to have an older, overprotective sibling. Wait – that's not true: Joey was pretty much like a brother to her too; only difference was that they weren't living together.

"Hasn't it been a month now?" Teà furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"Something like that."

"I wish I had your patience," Teà confessed, leaning forward in her seat. "It doesn't really take much for Joey to annoy me."

"What else does he say to you?" One would think that Joey would act differently around his friends than he would around Serenity. Teà would say that's kind of true.

"Lately? Nothing. I've been too busy with dance." And hanging out with Yami, she might add.

"How's that going?" Serenity widened her eyes, almost as if she had forgotten Teà had a recital coming up. She wouldn't blame her if that was the case.

"My recital's on Tuesday, so it's going," Teà chuckled. "I think my group and I have it in the bag, so it should be ok."

"Well, count me there to cheer you on. I'm sure you'll be great."

Just hearing Serenity's vote of confidence in her made her think about Yami's same proclamation, which caused a small blush to paint itself on Teà's cheeks.

"What's that look for?" Serenity raised an eyebrow.

"What look?" Yep, it was safe to say that Serenity definitely noticed. Hence, Teà took a long sip of water, hoping that her blush would disappear as soon as possible.

"I know for a fact that I don't make you blush ever. What are you thinking about?" And she was perceptive.

Teà thought she could make things easier on herself right now by telling Serenity about Yami. And honestly, it was really tempting. She couldn't think of any cons on the top of her head.

It would be nice to confide in someone about her little crush, and she knew for a fact that Serenity could be trusted to keep a secret. And she also knew that Serenity wouldn't make fun of her for it at all.

"Ok…I've also been busy because I met someone. Kind of."

Time to eat some more of that waffle.

"Oh my god…" Serenity whispered to herself, as a knowing smile appeared on her lips. "I'm really happy for you, Teà." Unlike her other classmates, Serenity wasn't the type to scream to the heavens after hearing that kind of knowledge.

"Well, he and I are just friends," Teà corrected herself, before Serenity could misinterpret anything. "But, yes, I really like him."

"I can tell," Serenity grinned, seeing the expression that Teà was trying hard to hide. "So how'd you guys meet?"

"Burger World." Although Teà was ok with the idea of Serenity knowing about Yami, she wasn't about to tell her that she was caught creeping on him that one time. Well, two times, now that she thought hard about it. Serenity would certainly tease her for doing that.

"Do the guys know?"

"Nope."

"Do you plan on telling them?"

"Nope."

"I should have figured." It wasn't surprising to either of them really.

"Well, it's not like he and I are dating." Teà knew that she sounded disappointed by that fact.

"But you want to."

"It really doesn't matter right now."

"Why? You don't think he likes you back?"

"I don't know." It would be stupid to make any kind of assumptions at this point. But Teà continued to think about the interactions she had with Yami; especially the ones that involved either a hug or a touch to her back. Although she tried to convince herself that those had to be platonic moves on his part, there was still a part of her that was convinced that he felt the same way about her.

"Well, I'm sure it'll sort itself out," Serenity replied simply.

Unlike her brother, Serenity knew when not to push other people's buttons.

"I hope so."

"Still, I'm glad you told me," Serenity giggled. "Who knows how everyone else would have reacted?"

"I know," Teà sighed, rubbing her face in exhaustion. "Let's face it - Joey and Tristan wouldn't want to leave my side."

"They'd go on a manhunt for sure."

"I don't wanna deal with any of that."

"Fair enough. But still, I'm here for you if you ever wanna talk more about it," Serenity offered, taking a sip of her own drink.

"I appreciate that."

A few moments passed before Serenity once again caught Teà off guard.

"He's really hot, isn't he?"

"Serenity!"
