Sookie's POV:

I sat on a comfortable sofa in one of the living rooms in the King of Sweden's palace. I took a sip of my water and started thinking intently about what Isaac had shown me in his mind. He had shown me the method to activate the monoliths. He gave me glimpses of what he had seen. Buildings and vehicles looked old. People around him in the casino where he had been were dressed in fashion from the past. He showed me how to return to the present time. It was after his return that his mind couldn't handle it. I guess time travel took a toll on people, especially humans. It probably took a toll on Prince Jermaine as well if he only travelled a few times. But there was something else that was an important note. I knew I had to tell the vamps sooner or later. They weren't going to be happy with it.

"I hope you have had an adequate amount of time to rest," Octavius James said as he entered the room. Alexander followed behind.

"Now you must tell us what you saw," he said as he and the kind sat on the opposite sofa.

I put my glass down on the side table. "Okay."

I took a deep breath and leaned forward. "Isaac did travel through time. Well according to his memories anyway. He showed me how to activate them. Apparently, its like a combination lock. He showed me certain spots where to push it and when to stand and so forth. I wrote it down on paper," I said as I also grabbed my little notepad that I asked for earlier. I had drawn a little diagram with instructions on which spots to touch and the sequence order. I handed it to the king.

He looked at it and gave it to Octavius. He seemed pleased.

"Ahhh well thank you Ms. Stackhouse. You have almost completed your task for us. There's just a couple other things we need to discuss…." Octavius said but I cut him off.

"That's not all. You said that it was made by a faery. That the material comes from the Faery portal. The only way that anyone can use it and travel through it is if you are faery. I don't know anything about Isaac's lineage but I'm guessing he may have faery blood. Isaac knew that before he activated it but I don't think he thought it was going to work for him because he must've thought he had no fairy blood. The blood connection probably wasn't strong enough though if the time travel took a toll on his mind. I don't know if Isaac will ever make a full recovery."

He gave me a hard look for a minute. I think he was trying to figure out if I was lying to him or not.

"There was always something about his blood that seemed a bit sweeter than usual," he responded.

Ewwww… I tried to hide the disgust on my face. Drinking from your own child, even if it was your adopted one.

"Yes well, you can keep studying the monoliths and perhaps try to find another way. But I'm just relaying to you what I read in Isaac's mind," I said.

"What do you think about these time-travelling monolith stones, Sookie?" Alexander asked.

I looked at him with surprise. "Ummm I don't know. I don't know anything about time travel. But I know that everything comes with consequences. There is always a price to pay. God knows, I have paid many times over the years."

"But if you had the power to change things from the past that shouldn't have happened, would you?" he asked again.

I thought about the Cluviel Dor for a moment. I could have used it to change things from the past but I didn't. I had a feeling that it would be dangerous to bring back Marius or Gran back from the dead. But this would be different. There was a possibility now that I could do something to prevent their deaths. I knew this line of thinking was what Alexander was hinting to me.

"I think we all have had that thought once or twice in our lives," I replied. "But like I said, there is always consequences."

"If what you are saying is true, then no vampire will be able to use it to travel back in time," Octavius stated.

I just nodded.

"Unfortunately we do not have any full-blooded faeries in our alliance. I don't think we have any alliances with even half-blooded ones. The majority of the faeries returned to their homeland and sealed the gates. The ones who have remained aren't trustworthy and would not provide aid. Even if we found a human with some fae blood, we would not know if he or she is capable of doing what we want them to do," Octavius said.

"What is that?" I asked. I had a feeling of what he was going to say.

"The prevention of our destruction of course," he said sternly. "Our scientists developed a vaccine after it was too late. If someone could travel back and give the formula of the vaccine to us then perhaps the deaths of so many vampires could be prevented."

I sat back. Well shieeet.

"Sookie, we all know of the things you are capable of," Alexander said.

I stared at him blankly for a moment.

"Oh hell no!" I said to him. I got up and sprinted to the window. I looked out the full moon. There was a golden circle around it. It was beautiful.

"I know what you're asking me to do. I can't do it!" I said as I looked towards them. I think I may have yelled it out.

Alexander walked towards me. "Sookie, I understand your fears and concerns. I know that is something you have felt throughout your life. But we have something in common. We both know how it feels to lose someone, someone whom you love deeply. I lost my wife, my beautiful Sofie. Her life was ended too soon and abruptly. I know deep down in my heart that it wasn't her time. You lost your own husband Sookie. Just think, we now have the power to get them back!"

"There was always rumours that the virus was created in a lab. The vampire council believes that it was man-made, that it was created to destroy us. Unfortunately for them, it didn't wipe all of us out and they didn't think we would have made a vaccine to protect us," Octavius added.

I heard those rumours as well. Unfortunately, those rumours were viewed as unfounded and ignored in the world. Vampires were losing influence in world politics that no one cared to find out if it was true or to do anything about it.

"If you want to do this you should find someone else. I can't do it," I said.

"Yes, that is true. But it could take months or even years to find the right person to do it," said Alexander. "And ironically, time isn't on our side with these monoliths. We do not have years or months or even weeks to find someone."

"Isaac discovered something else during his studies," Octavius said. "Apparently the monoliths are disintegrating at a swift pace. He thinks the monoliths survived this long in our world due to the presence of faeries coming and going. When they left and closed the portal, the monoliths started losing its power. They have started to slowly fade away it seems. He estimated that they may crack and disappear in a matter of weeks."

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. "I can't do it. I can't be your time traveller."

"Look at what happened to Isaac. That could happen to me!" I huffed.

Alexander walked up to me and put his hand on my arm. "Sookie I know I don't know you very well. I just have only heard of your tales in our supernatural world. But I know that you are strong. Perhaps, you even underestimate yourself. I know that you care deeply about everyone, especially us supernatural creatures. Going back in time could change everything! I bet no one has told you how deep in trouble we are."

I perked up. "Why what's going on?" I said with a concerned tone.

"The virus hasn't been eradicated nor will it ever be. It will always continue to mutate. There are concerns that it will mutate strong enough that the vaccine will not be able to fight it. Not only that, we are slowly losing our power and influence in world governments. Vampires have been hunted down and detained in Russia already. There is talk that they will meet their final deaths soon. When that happens, the genocide of vampires will spread."

I looked at Alexander and knew he was telling the truth. His expression was that of worry and fear. It was the same look that Marius gave me when we first heard about the virus.

"I need some time to think," I responded.

"Yes, this has been a very interesting night. There is a lot you need to think about and consider," he said.

Octavius gave him a stern look. He looked like he had something to say, but he kept his mouth shut.

"Take this evening to think about it and let us know what your intentions are by tomorrow," Octavius told me.

An hour later I was back in my hotel room. I sat on my bed and so many thoughts were going through my mind. There were a million things that could go wrong if I travelled back through time. First, off I wouldn't even know where to begin. Alexander suggested that I should seek him out at whatever time period I would end up. Even if I did, would he believe me? Would he think that I was some kind of crazy lady claiming to be from the future? I thought about the little or perhaps fictional versions of time travel in movies. My first thought was the movie Back to the Future. Would I alter the timeline in the present day drastically? After a couple hours of running through scenarios in my mind, I let out a loud sigh.

"Argh!" I said as I threw my pillow on the floor.

A few second later, my phone began to ring. It was Eric and he wanted to facetime me.

"Shit!" I said to myself. I knew I was going to have to tell him what they wanted me to do. I already knew what his answer would be too.

After the phone started to ring a second time, I finally picked it up. He appeared on the screen with a worrisome expression on his face.

"Sookie, what is happening? I can feel tension coming from you."

I sighed. I began to tell him what had happened. The more I said, the more his expression darkened.

"Absolutely not," he said. "You are to come home tonight. I will arrange a private jet to bring you back to Louisiana."

"Eric, you have to tell me the truth! Are you guys in as much trouble as the King says?" I asked.

He was silent for a moment. "Yes and no."

"Oh great!" I exclaimed.

"Lover, I do not want you to worry about me. I have lived for over a thousand years. I have seen and went through so many difficult moments. I will survive. I have you and your love," he said.

I sat down on my bed and looked at him sadly. "Eric, I can't go through this again. When Marius died, there was nothing I could do to help him. I never felt so hopeless. My powers weren't enough to save him. My powers won't be enough to save you, should you get sick or if the government decides to take you and Pam away."

Tears streamed down my face. "Eric you said that you believed in me. You believed in my abilities. You have to trust me."

"Lover, no," Eric said. "Come home tonight."

I wiped away the tears. "Please Eric, you have to trust me!"

"I cannot lose you," he said quietly.

"You won't lose me," I said. "I will take every precaution necessary."

I wasn't entirely sure of that and I knew there were no guarantees for my safety. I had no idea what was going to happen. But I knew that I needed to do this. I had to do something to help not just Eric, but of all vampires, even the bad ones.

Eric looked at me forlornly. He knew me well enough that I was stubborn. He knew I would do what I had my mind set on and there was nothing he could do to stop me.

"If you are going to do this, I will try and help you. I have always kept money and valuable things in different parts of the world. I have hidden keys to safety deposit boxes. I have a few in Stockholm. There is one in particular. I have hidden a key somewhere to a safety deposit box in a bank."

He started giving me instructions as to where this key would be and what bank it was.

"When I looked into Isaac's mind, it seemed like he wasn't too far back in the past. There were cars and some modern things. The clothes looked like 70s style. Even the token that was found in his jacket was from the 70s. I'm not entirely certain, but I'm sure I will end up in the 70s," I said to him. I was kind of relieved. I didn't know what would happen if I ended up in an era where I existed. But I still wasn't 100% sure I was going to end up there.

Eric thought back for a moment. "In the 70s I was not yet a Sheriff. I was living all over Europe. I lived in Stockholm for a period of time. That was in 1974 I believe. I went there a few times during the decade."

I thought about whether or not I would run into Eric. But I wasn't so sure. I knew I didn't have time to be looking all over Europe for him. I thought about looking for Marius as well. But there was no way I would be able to track him. He was still very much a reclusive vampire.

"I will find you Lover. I mean my former self will find you," Eric said.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"Because we are meant to be. We have always been drawn to each other. I knew the moment I saw you that you would be mine," he said.

I smiled at him. We spoke for over two hours before I started feeling sleepy.

"Shit, I guess I will be adding time traveller to my long list of titles now," I said to myself before I fell asleep.
