(Old A/N) I'm back! I realize I forgot my disclaimer, and I'm horrid at remembering them, so you can safely assume that nothing except for the idea, Grotee, Whirl, Kyu, and Empra, is mine. It will be the same for the rest of this fic. Also, as you've noticed, I had to swap Bora's gender. Prepare to see the same for some other characters, but no one too major.
DragneelHarem, I'm uncomfortable writing romance, and as I've said, this fic is relationship free. (Well, aside from what happens in the show, so yea.) That being said, let's go!
here we go, chapter two version two, badabingbadaboom. again, forgive any discrepancies as this fic figures itself out over here.
(Cough cough hey i uhhhh posted a mha/botw crossover fic go check that out cough)

'Why is my name Natsu?'
'Well, you do have an affinity for fire magic. And, summer is the season in which you came to us.'
'Oh. Why is your name Igneel, then?'
'Hahaha! You've picked up on Empra's constant questions already!'
'Cmon, answer the question!'
'I never really thought about it before. It's the name I was born with, after all.'
Lucy leaned out on the balcony, letting the cool night air wash over her. Happy was sat next to her, eyes closed as he enjoyed the ocean breeze. Hargeon was quite a beautiful city, when you overlooked the... eccentric people. Although, as a member of Fairy Tail, she didn't have much room to speak.
A distant cat call caught her attention, and she contemplated giving said cat caller the time of day. Or, well, night.
If nothing else, he'd be good practice for her Erza glare. Lazily, she pulled her eyes away from the skyline, and over to a group of men, who were laughing cheerily.
One of the men hiccuped loudly, before declaring, "I'll tell you wha', if yew... if yew can— hic!— if yew can get Lora ta ask yew ou' on a... on a da'e.. 'll pay for yer drinks masel'."
He and his friends were evidently intoxicated. Heavily.
One of the other men laughed. "Yeah, righ'. Like yew gotta chance wi'... wit someone fae Fairy 'Ail."
Uproarious laughter covered Lucy's murmured words to Happy, and the crystalline sound of his magic manifesting a pair of wings, perfect for carrying the two of them out to sea.
Lying about being a member of Fairy Tail wasn't something to go unpunished, after all.
Natsu skimmed over the contents of the magazine, before tossing it aside. It had plenty of information about every guild, a few that he had joined, even, but nothing that he was looking for.
Fairy Tail did look promising though... but was he really willing to risk—
"Hello there!" A pompous voice cut off his inner musings. "I couldn't help but notice you were sitting there all alone. Why don't you come join me, on my yacht? I'm having quite the party tonight."
The intruder was a rather odd looking lady. She had thick, blue-grey hair, a square nose, dull eyes, and her outfit... the less words used to describe it, the better.
"Weren't you in the town square earlier?"
"Oh, you saw that. Silly me, yes, I was! My yacht does get especially... quiet on cold nights like this. Nothing like a few companions to keep the night away!" She tittered, covering her mouth with one hand daintily.
It felt fake.
"Sorry, but I'm not interested. Don't you have enough people on your yacht already?" Natsu waved a hand dismissively, before standing. The magazine, he recovered before trashing it, but the exit to the park he was in was blocked off by the strange woman.
While not unable to scale walls or leap dangerous distances, it was better to keep a low profile in situations such as his.
She moved, deliberate, to block his every move. After two or three such attempts, Natsu grew frustrated. "Excuse me." He half snarled, ignoring the way her face went from smirking to pale, and he forcefully shoved her aside.
It was a damn shame that she had thought of that, and Natsu had the barest of moments to process the thugs waiting in the alley outside before a club met his skull with a thud.
"That one... that one's a strong one, boys. Make sure to... to contain him properly. We wouldn't want him to ruin my evening after all." Lora said, stepping out of the park behind him, face still pale. She quickly cut off the magic she had been feeding to him through her 'Sleep' ring, seeing his crumpled form. It had taken a shocking amount to even dull his senses, and it wouldn't do to waste magic pointlessly, not when it might be needed later.
Approaching the deck, a dire sight greeted her. Every man on board seemed to be unconscious, hopefully not dead.
Happy swung around the yacht once, twice, with no movement from anyone on board. Lucy and her cat companion shared a concerned glance, before he deposited her on deck and went back to lazily circling, keeping watch for any unwanted company. Sliding a Gate Key between her fingers, Lucy knelt to check the pulse of one of the men. Thankfully, it was strong, if a bit slowed, and Lucy eyed the cup of punch loose on one hand. Drugged, no doubt.
Lucy stood and stepped quietly towards the door, pressing herself against the wall when she was close enough.
The door had a window in it, and cautiously Lucy peeked through, fingers tight on the gate key. Movement caught her eye, and she followed it to Lora, who was sharing a hearty laugh with someone out of view.
Unwanted pieces were slotting together, all too quickly.
Slipping back away from the door, Lucy quietly called out to the gate, magic already pulling open a path between dimensions. A flash, a touch of magic, and Taurus poofed into being on the deck.
Rather than his usual rambunctious greeting, he snorted quietly, axe tight in his hands.
"What do you need, Miss Loocy?" He asked, quiet as his booming voice could go.
"Make a distraction for me to slip in, there's something weird going on here."
"Of course, Miss Loocy!"
Lucy grinned, and quietly made her way back to the door, pressing herself to the wall just behind it. Taurus watched with crossed arms, and as soon as Lucy gave him a thumbs up he drew his axe and thumped it on the deck.
"Moo!" He cried, "I demand tooo see whoo owns this boat!"
There was a pause, in which the door creaked open and Lucy ducked so as to be out of view of the window, "Who— what in the world?"
"Youu!" Taurus bellowed, shifting his axe to two hands and balancing it in front of him. "Fight me!"
There was a bit of a shuffle, and then a hapless bald man was shoved out, though he scrambled back and managed to grab a multicoloured cape, dragging the owner of the cape out with him.
"I'm not gonna fight that thing alone, boss!"
"Yes you will, let go of me you buffoon!"
"No!"
"Fight me!"
"No!"
Lucy slipped around the door, neatly just behind the arguing couple, and pulled it shut behind her. They'd have no choice but to fight Taurus now.
The ship was fairly simple in its layout, and in no time at all Lucy found what must be the captains quarters. They were lavishly decorated, a single rather untouched looking map on a table in the center of the room, and a padlocked door in a far corner.
The map had several areas circled in red, and it they were recognizable ports. Ports that were there... for slave trade.
Rolling it up, Lucy approached the padlocked door, hoping she wasn't about to unleash some rabid dog or horrid prisoner.
A loud, low groan came from inside.
Bracing herself, Lucy slotted two picks into the lock, wriggling them until they clicked and the padlock came loose.
A second, longer moan.
Holding her breath, she let the lock drop and pulled open the door, slowly...
...wasn't that the guy who bought her a meal earlier? He's sprawled, face down, on the floor of the room, but that pink hair is distinctive.
"Hey, are you okay? What are you doing here?" There's no blood, not that she can see, a concussion maybe?
"Ugh, sorry... I have— urk!— motion sickness..."
He propped his head up, and squinted at Lucy. "Hey, aren't you that— gah— girl from... the bar? Lucy?"
"Ah, yes, that's me. I'll get you out of here, alright? Just hold on a second."
He gives her a weak thumbs up, and Lucy shifts through her keys. Her hand settles on a silver one, and with it she summons the celestial spirit Horologium.
"Here, Horologium can carry you. Can you stand?" Lucy says, before offering him a hand anyway. It takes Horologiums help, but eventually Natsu ends up safe inside the clock, and Lucy contemplating how to best get away from the ship.
Happy wouldn't be able to carry the two of them, and while Taurus was strong, he wasn't strong enough to carry all of them to shore, especially with Horologium in the way.
Shore... that was it! Lucy grinned, "Horologium, I need you to hold on right here, okay? Things are gonna get rough."
"What are you going to do?' He asks, trying not to vomit."
"I'm taking this whole thing ashore."
Getting back out is much easier than getting in, Lucy just makes a break for it before leaping over the side of the boat. Taurus sees her go, and with completely confidence in his summoner he retreats through his gate. Just in time, as well, as a tidal wave of epic proportions rises from the sea, and sweeps the ship away with everyone else on it.
Lucy avoids the worst of it with Happy there to lift her from the water, and he sets her down on the beach before flopping over her head. "Lushy, I'm ti~ired..."
"Feel free to take a nap, Happy. Good job!"
Aquarius makes herself known with a huff, "That's my job for the week, brat. Don't summon me again for a while, I'm spending time with my boyfriend."
The water spirit dismisses herself, and Lucy winces. With all due luck, Aquarius won't decide to extend that week into a month or two, as she has before...
Groans catch her attention, and Lucy is quickly reminded of the presence of Lora and her goons. The ship has been tipped sideways, wrecked wood and steel mingling in the seawater. Lora is picking herself up on the beach, as are about twenty of her goons, but otherwise the beach is deserted.
Lucy takes a step towards the ship when a figure pulls itself up on what now serves as its deck, pink hair as eye catching as ever. He glances around, before his eyes settle on Lucy, and he waves with a grin.
"Hey! Thanks for th—"
It's with horror Lucy watches as the ship ignites, hungry flames racing up the side until they engulf Natsu.
She reaches for her keys, for Aquarius, but the spirit won't forgive her for summoning her again so soon— but if she doesn't, Natsu and everyone else on that ship might die!
She ignores the part of her that says they might be dead already.
She's just wrapping her fingers around the key when she notices.
The flames are disappearing.
Like being sucked into a vacuum, they steadily vanish, until the only the smouldering of the wood remains as evidence.
Natsu had just... he couldn't have, could he?
He couldn't have just eaten the fire...?
Lucy finds herself looking at Lora, but the other woman looks about as shocked as Lucy feels, and that's confirmation enough.
What in the world?
"I've eaten worse, but that was still terrible! What did you do to it?"
Lora swallows, heavily, points dramatically, and is promptly crushed by a flying Taurus.
"Whoops," Says Lucy, sticking her tongue out. Oh, the benefits of being able to summon a muscular man-cow...
Natsu blinks at her empty spot, and then laughs. "What was that?"
"Oh, just another one of my summons. What was that with the... the fire?"
"I've always been able to eat it. Though that was pretty bad tasting..." Natsu shrugs, and then picks his way down the side of the ship, coming to a stop beside Lucy. "What are you going to do with these guys?"
"Hm?" Ah, yeah, Lora's goons. Who look petrified."They were complacent in the slave trade, I imagine the army will want to have words with them about that."
Lucy slips Taurus's key back onto her belt, and then winces. Her gloves are , she peels them off from her palm, since they're fingerless there's nothing to tug there.
This, of course, has the side effect of revealing her Guild Mark, which Natsu eyes with interest.
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask," Lucy starts, "are you part of a guild?"
"Me? Oh, no, no, I've been thinking about joining Fairy Tail though," he pauses, "which it looks like you've already gone and done."
"Oh, I joined when I was a kid! There's still plenty of space for new members! Hey, why don't you come back with me?"
Natsu smiles, and Lucy can't help but grin back.
"I'd like that."
The Fairy Tail Guild Hall is nearly vibrating with the amount of noise it's containing, and when Lucy pushes the door open the force of it is nearly enough to knock him off his feet.
A brown haired girl notes the door opening, and slurs "hey! Lucy's back!" To the rest of the Guild.
There's not much of an impact on the general chaos, but a path does clear to the bar.
Not looking a gift horse in the mouth, Lucy speeds through, with Natsu only a few steps behind. Even so, he's caught in the brawl, a shirtless guy smashing into him. "Hey, watch it!" The shirtless guy snaps, and then he's swept away again by the pull of the crowd.
This, naturally, means that he doesn't see Natsu's reaction, how he bristles at first, goes to snap back, only to deflate and continue walking.
Lucy swings onto a barstool, and mushes her face into the counter. Awkwardly, Natsu takes a seat next to her, crossing his hands on the table. A white haired woman eventually sweeps over to join them, patting the back of Lucy's head, ducking a stray chair, and then offering her hand to Natsu.
"Hello there! My name is Mirajane, welcome to Fairy Tail! Are you looking to join?"
"Ah, yes, yes I am, I think. Is it usually this... loud?"
Mirajane shields a laugh with one hand, "oh, usually. You get used to it after the first few brawls! If you're looking to join, I'll be right back with the official papers."
"Papers?" Natsu folds his arms, gripping perhaps a bit too tight. Mirajane watches him with entirely too observant blue eyes, and when she smiles kind wrinkles at the sides of them show.
"It's all entirely confidential, for Master Makarov's eyes only. You can even fill them out yourself, so I don't get a look at your answers."
"Oh, okay. I'll be here."
Lucy finally props her head up on the counter. "There wasn't any golden keys like I was hoping, just a Nickola. Would you mind bringing Happy something to eat?"
"Of course!" Mirajane moves away with a sweep of her pink dress, leaving Lucy and Natsu to an awkward silence, disregarding the fight in the background.
Eventually, Lucy turns, and leans back on the counter. "Well, Natsu, welcome to Fairy Tail! Where are you thinking to get your Guild Mark?"
"Thanks. I was thinking maybe my shoulder, though I don't know which colour to pick."
Lucy laughs, "I picked mine when I was six, and I just went for my favourite colour."
"I'm surprised they let someone so young join, is that normal?"
"Ah, not really. My parents used to do a lot of trade with the guild, though, and when I got my hands on my first Key I already had my heart set on being a mage. They gave their permission to let me join, though they didn't let me spend much time here at first..."
Natsu glanced back as a brawny man was smashed into a table, crushing it under his weight. "I can see why."
Any further conversation is cancelled by the reappearance of Mirajane, a small stack of papers and a Quill in one hand, two plate and a mug carefully balanced with the other. She slides the plates down first, a fish and a small slice of cake on the other. Finally, she sets the mug down, and turns to Natsu as Lucy prods her cat companion awake.
"Here you are! The quill is enchanted; it won't run out of ink."
"Thank you."
The first five or so questions are simple enough, what's your name, why do you want to join, but it's the seventh that gives him pause.
'What type of magic do you have? Which element does it adhere to?'
Mirajane notices his pause, and she hurries over. "Is there a problem?"
"Ah, it's just my magic. Mine is sort of... weird."
"Oh, we've got all sorts of magic here in the guild!"
"Yes, but... I suppose it's best to show you." With that, Natsu held up a hand, which Mirajane eyed curiously.
First, his thumb, which after a touch of magic power begins to grown vines, earth magic shimmering over his skin. Next, his pointer finger, which ignites with bright orange flames. His index finger crackles with lightning, his ring freezes over, and his pinky sports a crown of idly swirling water.
"You have five types..."
Natsu nods, dispelling the effects by clenching his fist. "Would your guild master understand if I wrote down five elements?"
"Hmm... I think he's asleep upstairs, I can go get him for you!"
"Oh, that would be great!"
Mirajane hurries off, and Natsu glances around to see if anyone else caught him showing off. Lucy's cat— Happy, wasn't it? Is giving him an odd look, but otherwise the brawl seems to be too distracting. Good. Even Lucy is throwing occasional kicks when a stray arm or leg or torso swings towards them.
Mirajane can't be gone for more than five minutes when a massive, shadowed figure drops into the crowd. "Brawling! Again! I just got the damage reports from the magic council, and I come downstairs to find you all brawling!"
Natsu tucks himself backwards, arms curling around his chest.
After a moment, in which there's an astounding silence, the figure laughs. "Good! Don't let those geezers in the council get you down!"
That's it? Natsu had expected something more...
The figure, Master Makarov, shrinks, until where a giant once stood there's nothing but a little old man, who hops up onto a barstool next to Natsu with minimal effort.
"Now, whats this I hear about more than one element?"
Boom. Done. Nother chapter. For all y'all new readers, Natsu used to have to meditate to switch elements. I think that's still in the lullaby arc somewhere... anyway, I figured eh I'm a sucker for overpowered characters might as well toy with one. I'll try not to make every fight totally one sided, though, and there's still definite disadvantages... anyway.
gee, Natsu, you seem to be acting weirdly different. its almost like your backstory is different or smth... weird
horologium dispelled after natsu puked in him
i kept forgetting about happy so hes spending his time passed tf out.
Do you think Makarov gives an inspiring speech to the guild everyday? We know they do a hell of a lot of property damage so is the old guy going up on his little old balcony and being inspiring just like... a regular occurrence? sounds weird to me. Anyhoo, boom, bang, chapter done. Mostly took me so long as I binge read the entirety of One Piece in the time intermediary. (950 chapters and still goin babey!) hopefully the next one one take so long. ~ShadeShadow
(Old A/N) Aaaaaand that's a wrap! I can safely say, I never expected the response I got from only the first chapter, oh man. I actually fell out of my chair when I saw how many people had followed/favourited. Thanks guys! And, as always, any criticism is totally welcomed. ~ShadeShadow
