So last time we had first contact and some not so subtle foreshadowing. I went back and changed the council scene to try and slow down the story a bit more and I also added some minor fixes
Like always I'm eternally grateful for all feedback, and I'm so happy that I got the formatting to work. So I'd like to thank everyone who showed how to fix the problem, even though I didn't realize I already fixed it
I slowed things down this chapter and focused on some issues that I had to do eventually, and threw out some minor storylines that I'll continue in the following chapters. But don't worry I wrote some pretty big stuff in this chapter
Thank you all for your support so far I hope I can live up to your expectations with the story
Dimension 004a, Segmentum Obscurus sector, Concanid system. Levros (3rd in orbit of star)
Lopak looked up at the sky drinking his tea. Wondering if the light show would start again
The door to the cabin creaked against the howling wind, as it desperately tried to claw it's way into his home. The fire crackled like a old rocking chair, with occasional creaks and stutters of the once bright fire.
Four days ago the entire planet saw giant swirls of light and voids that blocked out the sky. Many had believed that it was a sign from the gods, most thinking it was the great sky emperor's warriors of light fighting the darkness to protect them all.
Lopak however, was more concerned on how he sees the sun slightly blocked by something. On the right side almost like a thin slice of a Hoyus. Levros's sky filled with the ice and snow dims the suns glow just slightly enough to notice the missing piece.
Lopak moved away from the windowsill, and approached his son Nevar. Finding him asleep he picked him up and walked him over to the bedroom.
Setting him down on his bed Lopak found it harder than it had been last year. We're both getting older. As he finished his thought though he remembered his unfinished tea and returned to the windowsill.
Nearly choking on it he saw giant metal birds the size of house settle down nearly 2 kilometres away. His thoughts grew panicked, and he realized he had to investigate. Grabbing his father's shotgun and shells he burst out of the door with his coat.
The cold nipped at his skin, but found it hard to affect him for it was the 'summer' of Levros meaning it was only negative five. The coat helped him warm up and soon the snow became less of an hindrance.
Nearing upon an overlooking ridge he found that the birds had their stomachs open. About twenty five People were around the birds. Twelve of them were holding firearms from what Lopak could tell.
They had brought out things from inside the birds. Many of them he could not tell their purpose. He studied them upon that ridge, they had creatures that he could not recognize next to them. Are these the sky emperor's warriors? The question bounced around in his skull.
One of the warriors looked up at his ridge studying it for moment, before raising his weapon and walking towards it. Instantly Lopak was filled with panic, and decided to leave on this holy proceeding.
Corporal Thompson however was sure he saw a humanoid life-form with his infrared sensors. The snowfall made it hard to tell with all of the snow and hail around them, but switching to pulse sensor confirmed his suspicion. They were being watched. Major we have a contact on the south east ridge.
Within moments the soldiers raised their weapons at the ridge preparing for a attack. The scientists took the message and crept back into the shuttles, with them grabbing whatever equipment was near.
Thompson felt the psychic message from the major as he was already walking towards the ridge. Corporal check it out and follow anything back to its home, we were told that this was 18 kilometres from any settlement. don't stray to far.
Understood.
In orbit of the Concanid star, aboard the Vancouver, H'aras's private quarters
H'aras sat on the floor thinking intensely, with the constant interruptions from the new species he hadn't meditated since he got here. Jas'gavas were telepathic and H'aras was a extremely powerful one, who required to meditate in order to collect and compose his powers.
Brushing away the mechanical noises around him he began to return to his mental home
His old house greeted him with the sound of birds outside and his children playing outside. He looked around to find his house greeting him, for he could only visit it in his imagination now.
The traditional blades hung above the door to the kitchen guarding the house, and the adapted guitar his daughter had played was resting upon the living room table. But there was something new
The picture of him and his family where it should've been resting on the fridge was on the table as well. He frowned this was not right, nothing should ever change here. Unless someone had changed it recently
He began to focus trying to find out who had been here. "I can sense your presence here. Don't try to hide from me show yourself!" His words rang out reverberating across the walls. Until the walls began to fade, and he was met with a void.
"I'm surprised you figured it out that quickly newcomer. I thought it would take you longer... I guess I underestimated you" he felt the voice appear behind him, spinning around to only meet more emptiness. "Oh wait. I suppose I should rip off the blindfold for you to see me"
In an instant the void was replaced by what H'aras could describe as hell. It was a swirling mass of colour that never ended, with shapes that hurt his head. "Where have you taken me intruder!"
The voice merely chuckled with amusement at his outburst, "No need to get angry I've come to offer you a deal" the mass of colours began to hurt H'aras's eyes. "But this is what the Humans call the warp" it's voice was filled with pleasure at his discomfort
"This place is the psychic feedback from every thought, conscious or sub-conscious. I represent the owners of this place" the voice had begun to consolidate itself, turning into a smoky shadow that painfully contrasted the cancerous background. It began to shift forms. From a great warrior, to a human woman with no clothing, to a avian bird creature, to a repulsive creature that resembled a mass of pus.
"Anyways enough games" with a snap the swirling mass of colours and shapes disappeared, and returned to the empty void. "The offer is simple enough for you to understand. Simply pledge yourself to us and we'll give you great power" their sly grin deepened "Or fulfil your... greatest desire"
H'aras was on his knees recovering from the sight before he responded "What are you?" The intruder smiled with joy at that question.
"Like I said I represent the owners of the warp. Apparently they decided that you were of great importance to their plans and would wish for to add you to their rosters" the intruder snapped her-his... their fingers and H'aras was staring directly into their eyes "But my name is unpronounceable by you and would make you go mad. So you may call me..." it turned its back on him deciding on its name "The Representative"
"So what do you say?" They spun around at the restrained H'aras, with excitement on his answer. However its name would never be used for he had an idea on what this creature was
"Kill me or release me for I have figured out what you are demon" it was a guess, but judging by the slight eye twitch H'aras suspicions were confirmed. They were a demon
"Oh killing you would be so boring, and I couldn't possibly hurt someone as... great as you" H'aras could tell the demon was surprised by his resistance, which told him that they were inexperienced with his kind
"Why me? I'm only an envoy and councillor" the demon's grin turned into a scowl, with it changing forms into the bird thing
"Ugh why do you ask so many questions. I tried to talk to your admiral, but I couldn't for some reason. All the other psychic ones in your fleet are... not important as you" the demon showed a small bit of honesty in that answer for they couldn't access the other humans for some reason.
They remembered a golden orb of light in the non psykers, but was pushed out when they tried to interact with it. Settling for the advisor was the backup plan
H'aras thought he had gathered enough information by this point and grinned back at the demon. With a simple command the invisible shackles that had bonded him dissolved back into nothingness
The demon clearly surprised snapped their fingers to restrain him once more, but in response they crumpled on the ground in pain. "Now I shall talk and you shall listen demon" H'aras stood over the crumpled warrior
"I cannot be bought with lies and trickery, and don't think it will work on others of my kind" he stooped down to the demon's eye level and stared into them. "I want you to send a message back to your owners" the demon looked up with horror at his eyes that began to spew the accursed golden light
"We will not join those who threaten others, nor will we not intervene on those who need our help" and H'aras was a hair away from the repulsive mass's face "Our duty never ends"
H'aras decided to stop probing the demon's memory for it both disgusted him and filled him with rage. And ending the conversation as it began the void returned to his home on Europa 7. The demon still on the floor scurried away from H'aras, and began to fade away as they left his mind to report to their master
Concanid system, Craft world Kaelor, training grounds
"They're coming with us" Lae'hareil could feel the insult settle upon her skin as it was said. All of the howling banshees stopped sparring and looked at the squad leader.
Lae'hareil detested the Mon-keigh, to even consider working with them was a disgrace, "They're Mon-keigh, they would slow us down!" The squad leader looked at Lae'hareil with the helmet covering her face
"They're giving us their best. While I don't agree it's direct orders from the farseer herself" the five Mon-keigh in question were standing waiting for further orders, but they recognized what was happening very quickly.
Even the animals can see we're unhappy. Lae'hareil thought to herself
"I cannot work with such beasts. It would dishonour the ones we lost" one of the older banshees stated
Major Florence would apologize for PAU later, as he had installed the eldar's language before redeployment. The argument was painfully obvious to all of the assembled strike team.
His SES strike team was assigned to assist an assault on a ship that had fought the Tyranid boarders and quarantined them in a section of the ship. The admiral said that they needed to build trust with the Eldar, so as a show of trust they assigned his squad to help
He watched with slight amusement at the argument, before they started to insult his great grandmother.
Walking next to squad leader the major decided an example was in order for the howling banshees. If they couldn't trust them it would drastically reduce efficiency "Would you like a demonstration?"
In an instant all of the conversation stopped as they looked at the Mon-keigh who had spoken perfect Aeldari. Realizing that he understood them they began to insult him directly in truly creative ways, before the squad leader spoke up. "My sisters... doubts are not unfounded Mon-keigh. How would you show us your worth?"
"How about a spar Mon-keigh. Would you like to taste our craft world's ground?" Lae'hareil taunted with her sisters chuckling. In response the Mon-keigh dropped his weapons on the ground, and removed his helmet. putting up a pitiful fighting stance.
The squad leader nodded to the group as her sign of approval, with the banshees getting excited by the promised violence.
Lae'hareil received a few gentle shoves into an assembled fighting ring of people, with the Mon-keigh and eldar on either sides. Lae'hareil grinned "I like your spirit Mon-keigh"
In a blink of an eye Lae'hareil jumped at him, with her right aiming directly at his chest. With enough force to puncture steel she landed the blow directly on his chest. Her grinning ended, however as the Mon-keigh had blocked it with his arms.
Deciding to give him no room to recover she began a flurry of attacks, that were so fast she began to create an afterimage. But with every attack it was either blocked or evaded by the slightest margins
Grinding her teeth she went for an uppercut, but had to adjust it as he sidestepped the blow. Using her elbow she brought it down hard on his face causing him to stagger back, with a trickle of blood starting from his nose. Seeing the chance of victory she leapt at him
Florence decided to stop playing around, and changed combat styles to a more aggressive approach. Florence shoulder checked into her stopping whatever momentum she had
Lae'hareil staggered back completely embarrassed at the weakness she had shown, but the Mon-keigh continued his assault.
He closed in again and kicked her left knee forcing it to bend to the side. After losing her footing her guard went down for a split second in which the Mon-keigh punched her directly in the face again, but their would be no respite for even she couldn't react to the kick that hit her so hard it knocked the wind out of her.
Lae'hareil Threw a desperate hit for the throat attempting to stagger him. It hurt her pride that it was blocked, again, and that the last thing she saw was the fist heading for her fa-
Florence had tried to take it easy on them, due to not knowing how combat effective they were. But found it hard to hold back, as she had begun to wear down his defences. Feeling his right ribs throb with pain probably meant that it was cracked, and that they were definitely capable.
Looking down at his opponent, she was completely knocked out. Deciding that honour would improve relations, he hefted up the banshee on top of his shoulders, and walked to the nearest medical centre...
Turning back for his helmet for the map integrated, he had Margret help him with putting it on before they could notice his embarrassment. Continuing his journey to the medical centre he sent a message to Margret. Continue planning for upcoming mission. You're in charge
Reaching the clinic he noticed how egg shaped it was, as he entered the clinic however he was greeted in a surprising fashion. The moment he entered every head turned to face him, and once again the hushed whispers ran throughout the crowd
Finding a empty med-bed he lay down the howling banshee, and looked around for a doctor. The one who was approaching almost pushed him to the side, as he began to check up on his patient
The doctor shot him many spiteful glares for giving him more work. Florence found it surprising on how many were still in medical care, he saw dozens of patients in the beds nearing capacity. Remembering the briefing his team had received reminded him that they were on death's door when the fleet had arrived.
He was glad that the helmet covered his face, for he couldn't face those that had lost loved ones in the conflict. Turning back to his combatant the doctor had done his work, but he was hesitant to ask for help with his ribs. He didn't have time to however, for another patient started to have problems, and whisked away the doctor.
Lae'hareil awoke to see the Mon-keigh sitting by her bedside with his helmet off. He was sleeping with a slight snore emanating from him. She was confused on where she slept, but got distracted as the soldier ripped through the silence with a particular load snore.
Lae'hareil was surprised at how... bearable the Mon-keigh was to look at. While not even a comparison by eldar standards he would have had quite a pretty face if not for the fact he was disgusting in every other way
As her memory caught up to her she could feel her cheeks turn red with shame and embarrassment. To lose to this pathetic creature was a shame on her whole family, even if she was the only one left.
Sighing she decided to ask the doctor if she was free to leave, but as she got up the Mon-keigh snapped awake at the slight sound. His eyes darted to her before breaking out in a stupid smug grin.
"I guess you'll have to teach me about the soil next time" he looked at the elf with pure smugness, but she cocked her head in confusion. Idiot she doesn't speak English
She stared at him for a exceedingly long time, with every second making Florence more on edge. She ended the competition with another sigh and moved to get up.
The major put his helmet back on just in time to catch a whisper of the banshee speaking as the translator activated, "Stupid Mon-keigh, with his stupid face, and his stupid snoring"
Concanid system, in orbit of star, the Vancouver,Admiral's quarters
Sarah had been looking at the summary sent over by the historians of this galaxy, with every paragraph of history she added more construction ships to the requisition order.
This entire galaxy was a mess, with what appeared to be only war surrounding them. she was barely halfway through the report when the door chimed
"Come in" the door slid to reveal her old friend H'aras with his stoic face as usual. Like always he had to duck underneath the door, before he sat down opposite of her. Sarah became worried, "You only sit there when something serious has happened"
"I'm afraid you're correct my friend... I was just contacted by... something" Sarah switched off the terminal in front of her, and nodded for him to continue
"I can only describe it as a demon. It invaded my mind and tried to convince me to join their... benefactors" Sarah instantly perked up at the choice of words
"Did it mention anything about the warp?" H'aras stiffened at the mention of that accursed place
"Yes... it showed me what it looked like... do you remember the extragalactic cluster we went to in 3287? It was like that but with shapes and colours I couldn't possibly describe" Sarah couldn't forget that place. It was a swirling painting from what she remembered
"It wasn't a powerful telepath, but that let me search its memory. The things I saw Sarah... they were horrifying" the usual stoic expression began to falter as he continued, "These creatures have committed genocides like it was nothing. They enjoy it, revel in it! They only exist to create pain for the sake of prolonging themselves!"
Sarah put her hand on his shoulder to which he nearly jumped at, but soon softened when he came out of his trance. "Then what do you recommend we do?"
H'aras pondered for a long time weighing the consequences "As your advisor I would say that these demons are a threat that will need extermination" turning to Sarah he gave her his second opinion "But as your friend I say bring everyone and everything we can to get kill them"
Sarah sighed because what she had to say next wasn't easy "The warp is the byproduct of every thought conscious or subconscious. It's constantly changing, with it feeding off of the negative emotions especially. Recently a planet known as Cadia fell to said demons, this planet had pylons that were essentially the cork in the bottle"
She looked at H'aras directly in the eyes "This entire chunk of the galaxy has been cut off with a phenomenon called the eye of terror" H'aras had returned his gaze to the great expanse of space in front of him
"We must try Sarah" The silence was uncomfortable as they both stared into the final frontier.
Space between dimensions
"These humans think they can destroy the realm of souls?"
"It can be done, the anathema came close to finding out how"
"Bah! He was an idiot. What did I tell you Erebos? Seeing the future causes the future"
Erebos sighed. Dealing with the higher ups was always aggravating, especially if they didn't like you. thankfully this one did "Well I suppose that if we didn't give him that gift he'd still find a way to screw it up. That man was a terrible father"
"Tell me Erebos why do you have such a fascination with humans? Every time you're ordered to create another dimension they show up in your work"
"I enjoy the dualities of them"
"Do go on. I'm on the edge of my seat"
"They are selfish creatures, but will sacrifice themselves if they think it's worth it. They believe that all should work together, but will support ways that drive them apart"
"Drive them apart?"
"Democracy for starters"
"I thought you regard that highly Erebos?"
"I do. But it could be twisted and manipulated into giving someone wrongful power"
"I see"
"So do you approve of the decision regarding the merge?"
"Ha! Always looking for support huh?... but yes you'll have my full support when we vote"
"Thank you Karachinos I am in your debt"
"I'll be sure to use it"
Retrieving UNE file... ...
File found, file name: Cosmic Alliance
The Cosmic Alliance (CA) was founded in 2378 with the founding members including: United Nations of Earth, Holy Jas'gavas Empire, Raltek kingdom.
The age of foundation 2350-2550
The age of foundation had the cosmic alliance not as we know it today, but a smaller more less formal agreement. This age focused on establishing a foothold for the CA with all members beginning the CASC (Cosmic Alliance Space Command) in 2409.
Other notable events would be the formation of the constitution in 2418 and the mass migration effort in 2427. In addition due to treatment of vassals the UNE lead a minor war on it's neighbour the Zaanami shipping alliance.
In a liberation war the Zaanami shipping alliance was dissolved and replaced by the Zaanami democratic confederacy which joined the federation in 2467
The age of conflict 2551- 2899
As it's name suggests multiple war were waged between the CA and other nations in the galaxy. The most notable would be the war of Humanity as the UNE faced a lost colony gone rouge formally known as the Commonwealth of Man.
The Commonwealth of Man unleashed a new weapon in a surprise attack on Europa 7. The final stand of Europa ended with the unprepared UNE fleet routed, and the Europa 7 destroyed with the first planet cracker.
Using their momentum the Commonwealth of Man charged straight for Earth eventually capturing it with the defence fleet destroyed. The resistance of Earth is the only battle where the entire population of the cradle rose up in rebellion, and managed to sabotage the planet cracker. The CA had finally mobilized and saved Earth, and a monument was constructed for the civilians who fought for their nation.
The age of crisis 2900-3000
The age of crisis was a string of crisis level events that happened to the Milky Way galaxy. The first was a hostile biological hive mind known as the Prothyon scourge. Using a wide variety of rush and swarm tactics the scourge swept its way through the Covenant of Ulfram, the only independent nation left in the galaxy.
The CA intervened on its destruction and sent a coordinated attack to the heart of the swarm. Admiral Sarah Briggs managed to figure out how to successfully push back the swarm forever, using a energy pulse that was specifically designed to destroy the swarm. She was later awarded the Star of Sol
In 2934 however a machine intelligence known as the contingency tried to eradicate the galaxy in order to prevent a singularity. The CA using a variety of planetary bombardments and planet crackers managed to successfully destroy the machine intelligence
However it was later found out that the contingency would reactivate in an attempt to eradicate the galaxy once more, so the CA managed to trap the contingency inside of a logical loop. Admiral Yakima Hideyoshi with the second fleet managed to deliver the virus directly earning him the Star of Sol
In 2956 two unknown fallen empires attempted to sway each nation for a war in heaven. With the remaining isolationists taking either side the CA decided to become neutral in the conflict. This was received poorly by the two empires which began to attack the CA from both sides, and eventually each other.
The CA rallied behind the Holy Jas'gavas Empire, which had just won several major naval and ground battles. Eventually the fallen empires decided to surrender, due to war exhaustion from the prolonged conflict.
Lastly a race known as the unbidden came to the galaxy to feed in 2987, however the UNE economy was at its breaking point from the prolonged warfare. So as sectors began to fall and fleets were routed the Raltek Kingdom opened up a massive secret cache of resources that the CA desperately needed
Eventually the home system of the unbidden was found and captured by the UNE. In response the unbidden sent in every available resource, this led to the UNE calling in reinforcements, who in turn began to call for help. What would later be known as the dogpile battle escalated, due to more and more fleets getting dragged into this one system.
Eventually however with the arrival of the first fleet with admiral Sarah Briggs, she took command and routed the unbidden to a different system. Eventually using a classified military device the unbidden were banished from the Milky Way galaxy.
The age of peace 3000-3327 (present day)
The age of peace was a time of recollection and growth for the CA as the constant wars had left them almost shattered, but with extreme rationing and resource allocation. The CA had finally recovered
The Covenant of Ulfram had been reformed into the United Tyanki Stars and joined the CA in 3214.
The age of w-
Connection terminated
