Chapter 8: Connections and a Shocking Discovery
Inside a spartan hovel, Luke is seen repairing 3PO's arm while sitting near R2, Ben, and the rest of the Mcduck family.
Luke: No, my father didn't fight in the wars. He was a navigator on a spice freighter.
Ben: That's what your uncle told you. He didn't hold with your fathers' ideals. Thought he should have stayed here and not gotten involved.
Luke: You fought in the clone wars?
He asked.
Ben: Yes, I was once a jedi knight as your father.
Launchpad: Well that sounds quite cool to hear Mr B.
Penumbra: I think I managed to learn about the clone wars when I was back living on the moon from what I heard was one of the largest wars that took place across the galaxy. Is that right?
She asked.
Ben: You are the correct Penumbra.
He told her.
Della: I remember you told me about the war as well whenever we had the time to talk, Penny.
Penumbra: Right! I remember now.
Louie: Well I guess we are not the only ones to have secret pasts in our families after all.
May: Especially with me and my sisters.
Ben: What do you two mean?
He asked.
Donald: Well our story is quite more complicated as it sounds Ben.
Daisy: Yeah we are quite an unusual family.
Ben: Well if that really is the case then I fully understand.
Luke: Well you have absolutely no idea on what type of adventures this family had gone through back on their home planet. As for me I have no awesome stories to tell and barely knew anything about my mother and father while growing up.I wish I'd known him.
Ben: He was the best star pilot in the galaxy, and a cunning warrior. I understand you've become quite a good pilot yourself. And he was a good friend. Which reminds me..
He said as he got up from his place and managed to get a sabor that Ben managed to keep in his hidden possession. When he was about to give the Saber to Luke, Huey along with Louie and Launchpad seemed to recognize the saber.
Launchpad: Dewey's brothers, is that what I think it is?
He said as the three of them were whispering to each other.
Huey: Yeah I think I know where you're going with this Launchpad.
Louie: It looks like what Dewey and Webby had back home.
He said as Ben got close to Luke.
Ben: I have something here for you. Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He feared you might follow old Obi Wan on some damned fool idealistic crusade like your father did.
3PO: Sir, if you'll not need me, I'll close down for a while.
Luke: Sure, go ahead.
He told 3PO as he did just that.
Ben then handed the Saber to Luke.
Luke: What is it?
He asked Ben.
Ben: Your fathers lightsaber. This is the weapon of a jedi knight. Not as clumsy or as random as a blaster.
Luke then pressed the button that is on the saber to release the lazer sword that was inside.
Ben: An elegant weapon for a more civilized time. For over a thousand generations the jedi knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times before the empire.
Louie: Sir or I mean Ben is it ok if we can tell our family something important for a moment?
He asked.
Ben: Sure I don't mind.
Most of the duck family were confused about what Louie was saying.
Della: Louie, is there a problem honey?
She asked him.
Louie: We need to talk to you guys about something important privately.
He said as the Mcduck clan walked into another room.
Scrooge: What in the blazes is going on?
He asked.
Huey: We think we might know why Dewey and Webby got taken.
He said which surprised the rest of the entire family.
Launchpad: Yeah I had the same reaction as well.
Donald: Why did they get taken?
He asked in concern.
Louie: We will tell once we get into this room.
He said as the family walked into the room and closed the door once they were all inside.
Luke: So how did my father die?
Luke asked Ben as he put his focus back to Luke.
Ben: A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the empire hunt down and destroy the jedi knights. He betrayed and murdered your father. Now the jedi are all but extinct. Vader was seduced by the dark side of the force.
Ben told him.
Luke: The force?
He asked him.
Ben: Well the force is what gives a jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.
He said as R2 makes a beeping sound.
Ben: Now let's see if we can't figure out what you are, my little friend. And where you come from.
Luke: I saw part of the message he was...
Before he could finish his sentence Ben interrupted him.
Ben: Iseem to have found it.
Ben said as the same message Luke saw along with the young duck family members started to play again but only a bit longer this time.
Inside another room Launchpad, Huey, and Louie managed to give a full explanation on how Dewey and Webby managed to find similar galactic swords to the one that Ben has.
Donald: So the three of you are telling us that Dewey and Webby found the same weapon that the strange old man does?
He asked them with an enraged look.
Huey: Yes it is exactly what we are telling you guys and the empire probably sensed that they managed to hold some type of special ability which might have been why they took them prisoner.
Della: And they tried to hide this type of information from all of us?
She asked with an enraged look as well.
Louie: Well because they didn't want to give their new found possessions up to you guys.
Scrooge: Well it doesn't matter if it was in their possessions at all because both of those young lads are too young to carry around such weapons.
Beakley: And that it may be a message of trouble to our home planet.
Launchpad: We are very sorry! We didn't mean to keep it a secret from you all in the first place.
Della: How come Dewey maged to tell you about it and asked you to keep it secret, LP?
She asked him in confusion.
Launchpad: Because Dewey is my best friend and best friends keep secrets.
Della: Oh that's right.
Donald: It doesn't change the fact that their pettiness has caused nothing but trouble and chaos on all of us! With our world in danger, trapped on another with no way to get back, and we don't even know where these snowmen people are keeping them or if they are still alive!
He said angrily.
Daisy: Don't give your hopes up yet Donald. It's not like we are going to be stuck here forever and maybe Dewey and Webby are still alive out there.
Scrooge: Well I really do hope that is the case Daisy.
May: But how are we going to find a way off this planet though?
June: Yeah there might not be any other transportation nearby in possibly miles.
Penumbra: Well our best bet is to stay alongside the two junk droids, the wannabe farm boy, and the old man.
Duckworth: Well to think of our current situation I fully agree with Lt Penumbra.
Huey: Speaking of, we should probably make our way out right now. I think these people are wondering what is taking us so long.
Della: Yeah, I think we should make our way out now.
She said as she opened the door. When she did, the group noticed that Ben and Luke were already standing next to the door.
Della: Oh! We didn't know that you guys were already standing there.
Luke: We didn't mean to scare you guys. We were just seeing if everything was going ok with you guys.
Scrooge: How much have you heard?
He asked curiously.
Ben: We heard quite a lot. Especially with some of your fellow loved ones fond possession of the lightsaber that somehow landed in your world and we are deeply sorry to hear that the empire took them away. I also have to admit that they both have something special in them.
Donald: What do you mean?
He asked him.
Ben: They both have a strong connection with the force.
He said surprising the entire Mcduck clan.
Scrooge: You're saying my daughter has a connection to the force?
Della: And that my son has the same?
They both asked him.
Ben: Indeed, but we will talk more about that later because we are about to go out again.
Louie: What! Already! We just got here not too long ago!
He said in dismay.
Penumbra: Where are we gonna go now?
She asked in confusion.
Luke: We can talk about it once we get into the speeder. So we should get going now!
He said as the group made their way out of the house and into Luke's speeder.
A small time later the group stopped by the wasteland where they noticed the Sandcrawler from the other day but appeared the sandcrawler went through a recent violent confrontation since there was smoldering rubble and debris along with scattered dead corpses of Jawas.
The group can only stare at the scene in complete shock.
Huey: Oh my god!
Scrooge: Curse me kilts!
Beakley: What in the Blazes happened here?
She asked.
Louie: What the hell happened here?
He asked.
Della: This seems like this was a violent situation.
Launchpad: That does seem to be the big case.
Luke: We should go and take a much closer look.
He said as the group exited the speeder and walked through the rubble and scattered bodies.
Daisy: These poor creatures. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
May: You said so Daisy! This is one of the most horrible scenes I have witnessed.
June: Same with me.
Penumbra: Well whoever did kill these creatures they made sure that nobody had a chance to survive.
Duckworth: You seem to be correct indeed Lt Penumbra.
Luke: It looks like Sandpeople did this alright.
Donald: And you know that because?
He asked.
Luke: Look, here are Gaffi sticks, Bantha tracks. It's just... I never heard of them hitting anything this big before.
Scrooge: Well from what we've seen from these sandpeople so far I think I'm having a little bit of a hard time thinking that is the case with their young lad.
Ben: They didn't!
Ben said as he took a moment to study the tracks that were at the scene and continued.
Ben: But we are meant to think they did. These tracks are side by side. Sandpeople always ride single file to hide their numbers.
Della: Is it just me or do these Jawas appear to be familiar?
She curiously asked.
Luke: I think you appear right, Della. These are the same Jawas that sold us R2 and C3PO.
He said as he took recognition.
Ben: And these blast points, too accurate for Sandpeople. Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise.
Luke: Why would Imperial troops want to slaughter Jawas?
He asked.
When he did the Mcduck clan looked at each other with big concern as they thought they had the answer.
Scrooge: Lad I think the reasoning has something to with what you have said beforehand.
He told him.
Luke: That these Jawas sold me R2 and C3PO?
He asked.
Beakley: Yes and it seems like these Imperials are somehow trying to track your droids down and seem to be willing to kill anyone that stands in their way.
She said in concern.
Luke: If they traced the robots here, they may have learned who they sold them to. And that would lead them home!
He said in horrible realization as he quickly ran back to his speeder and rushed back to his farm home.
Ben: Wait Luke! It's too dangerous!
He tried to warn him but was too late as Luke quickly drove off.
Back on the death star Leia is still seen inside the same cell with Webby and Dewey just sitting down quietly doing nothing. However their quietness ended as they noticed their cell door opening with Darth Vader along with several troops entering along with a giant black torture robot. Leia can only stare in horror while Dewey and Webby hugged each other in fear as well.
Vader: And, now Your Highness, we will discuss the location of your rebel base. As well as the locations of your own allies' younglings.
Dewey: Please don't hurt us!
Webby: Yeah we're too young to die.
Leia: You heard them. Don't let them go through this torture! They are just kids.
Vader: Don't worry Your Highness they won't get the same type of torment as you will. Now let's go and begin our discussions.
Vader said as he and his troops slowly closed in on the three prisoners to get much needed answers out of them.
