It's been a few days since everything went down with Rick, Lori and everything else. I have been walking around the area of the farm and I noticed that Daryl was following me everywhere I went. Hershel didn't want him moving around, but since I was moving around, he was going to move as well. I don't know why but after I went to his tent and never left, Daryl's been watching my every move.

It was weird at first, cause he ignored me after everything that happened to me and now I could feel his eyes constantly on me and I could tell not in a bad way. Not like how Shane keeps looking at me, it was more of a protective way and I knew why. I sighed, as I ran my hand through my hair as I made my way back to camp with two plates of food in my hands. Daryl was picking at his nails in a lawn chair. He ended up listening to Hershel and taking things easy because he knew that he needed to take it easy.

I stood in front of him and he looked at me to notice a plate of food in my hands and I held out one of the plates to him and he had a surprised look on his face and he looked at me, " Here." Was all I said as he took the plate from me and he nodded his head to me.

I sat down right next to him in a chair. All was quiet as everyone ate, which was kinda weird. Someone usually was talking right about now, I look up to see Glenn standing in front of us with a kinda guilty look on his face. I looked over past his shoulder and I could see that Maggie was on the porch of the house glaring at him, ' Something wrong.' I thought to myself as I looked at him once I finished my plate, he got up and he stood in front of us.

" Um, guys. So… The barn is full of walkers." Glenn said as he looked at us.

My eyes went wide along with the others and Daryl's posture straightened. Shane growled and got up and ran towards the barn. We all got up and followed right behind him, as we got there, I was standing right behind Daryl and he quickly looked over his shoulder to look at me and gave me a look which told me to stay behind him and I nodded my head to him as we turned to look back at Shane who was looking in between the doors of the barn.

I could hear the moans from the undead inside. My stomach turned a little bit as I watched Shane as he turned to look back at Rick, " You can not tell me you're alright with this." Shane yelled as he walked over to Rick.

" No I'm not, but we're guests here. This isn't our land." Rick said as he tried to reason with Shane.

" This is our lives!" Shane yelled as he got closer to Rick.

I flinched when I heard him yell and I placed my hand on his shoulder and I gripped on tightly and he stepped back to make sure that he was close to me while he was looking at Shane.

" Lower your voice." Glenn hissed as he looked at Shane.

" We can't just sweep this under the rug." Andrea said as she looked at us.

" It ain't right. Not remotely. Okay, we've either got to go in there, we've got to make things right or we've just got to go. Now we have been talking about Fort Benning for a long time." Shane said but Rick interrupted him.

" We can't go." Rick said.

" Why, Rick? Why?" Shane said as he growled at him.

" Because my daughter is still out there." Carol said as she looked over at Shane.

I released my hand from Daryl's shoulder and I looked down to the ground when Sophia came to my mind. My body started to move on it's own towards Carol and I placed my hand on her shoulder to reassure her. Carol looked over at me as tears started to fill her eyes and I gave her a small smile, I looked over at Daryl and he nodded his head to me and I nodded back as I turned my head back to look at Shane.

" Okay. Okay, I think it's time that we all start to just consider the other possibility." Shane said which made my blood boil.

" We are not leaving without Sophia, Shane. So fuck off." I said as I glared at him. Everyone looked between me and Shane and it looked like Shane wanted to hit me, but if he even tired too, Rick wouldn't let me lay a hand on me.

" I'm close to finding this girl. I just found her dame doll two days ago." Daryl said as he looked at Shane.

" You found her doll, Daryl. That's what you did. You found a doll." Shane said as he looked at Daryl and rolled his eyes at him.

" You don't know what the hell you're talking about." Daryl said as he glared at him.

" I'm just saying what needs to be said. You get a good lead, it's in the first 48 hours." Shane yelled as he started walking towards Daryl but stopped in his place as I stood in front of him with my arms crossed.

" Shane, you better stop it while you're at it." I said as I glared at him but he looked over my shoulder at Daryl but stayed where he was at.

" Let me tell you something else, man. If she was alive out there and saw you coming all methed out with your buck knife and geek ears around your neck, she would run in the other direction." Shane yelled at Daryl. At this point Daryl moved around me and charged at Shane and tried to punch him, but Rick got in the middle of the two. I ran over to Daryl and I grabbed his arm and I pulled him back. Daryl looked over at me with a glare in his eyes but once our eyes connected he calmed down a little bit. And I looked over at Lori and noticed that she was by his side but that he wasn't very calm at all.

" Now just let me talk to Hershel. Let me figure it out." Rick said as he tried to think of what to do.

" What are you gonna figure out?!" Shane yelled as he turned his head to him.

" If we're gonna stay, if we're gonna clear this barn, I have to talk him into it. This is his land." Rick explained to Shane as he looked at him.

" Hershel sees those things in there as people… Sick people… His wife, his stepson." Dale said as everyone turned their heads to look at him.

" You knew?!" Shane growled at Dale.

" Yesterday I talked to Hershel." Dale sighed.

" And you waited the night?!" Shane yelled at him.

" I thought we could survive one more night. We did. I was waiting till this morning to say something. But Glenn wanted to be the one." Dale said sternly as he looked at Shane. Daryl was still breathing heavily as he was glaring at Shane and I could tell that he wanted another go at Shane. But I stopped him by placing my hand on his arm trying to calm him, but I knew it wasn't going to work. As everyone was yelling at each other, the doors of the barn started to bang and I jumped which made Daryl pull me behind him and honestly I wasn't expecting him to not do that but I didn't say anything about it. Everyone quickly went quiet as the banging got louder, so everyone went their separate ways, dealing with the whole barn situation in their own way. I hadn't seen Daryl after the whole thing and I looked over and noticed Carol was walking along the fence. I walked over to her and when I got closer I saw tears going down her face, I placed my hand on her shoulder and she turned her head to look at me.

" We are going to find Sophia Carol, I promise." I said as I looked at her with a small smile.

" Are you sure about that? What if she is gone and we are wasting our time trying to look for her." Carol said as more tears went down her face.

" I know so, cause I can feel it in my gut that she is out there. Waiting to come back home to her mother." I said as I wrapped my arms around her as she hugged me back. We stood there for a while till she released me and gave me a big smile and then started to walk away till she stopped and then she turned to look at me.

" Thank you Sam. Truly." Carol said.

" For what?" I asked as I was confused about what she meant.

" For what you did for Sophia." Carol said.

" Carol, look I.." I started to say as I looked away from her.

" No. I need you to hear what I have to say." Carol said as more tears went down her face as I turned my head to look back at her and I nodded my head to her.

" Sophia looked up to you like how Carl does and at first I wasn't sure if I liked it, but I see the kind of person you are, Sam. I see how you are with your brother and how strong you are. You're a survivor and everything I want Sophia to be." Carol said as she looked at me with a smile on her face.

" She's a survivor as well. She's gonna make it, like all of us." I said as I looked at her with tears filling my eyes.

Carol walked over to me and pulled me into a hug and she held me tightly which I wasn't expecting. I wrapped my arms around her and she started to cry and I just let her. Hearing her cry just made me even more determined to find Sophia and bring her back to her mother. Once she stopped crying, she pulled away from me and was about to say something till we both jumped when we both heard something fall in the area where the horse was at and we both walked over to investigate. As we got closer we heard someone cussing and we looked at each other and we both knew who it was and once we got to the entrance we saw Daryl trying to saddle up a horse. He was about to leave and go look for Sophia, " You can't." Carol said as she looked at him.

" I'm fine." Daryl said as he ignored us and continued to do what he was doing.

" Daryl, Hershel told you that you needed to heal." I said as I walked closer to him.

" Yeah, I don't care." Daryl said as he continued to get the horse ready.

" Well, we do Daryl." I said as I grabbed his shoulder and made him look at us.

" Rick's going out later to follow the trail." Carol added as she came over to us.

" Yeah well, I ain't gonna sit around and do nothing." Daryl growled as he slipped the bridal on the horse. I got annoyed very quickly and I pulled on his shoulder again and made him look at me.

" No. You are not going out there, just for you to get hurt again or worse. And maybe you would learn from what happened last time you were on a horse." I said as I got in his face.

" Don't you fucking start, Sam." Daryl growled at me.

" Or what Daryl," I said as I glared at him but then I took a deep breath and calmed down and I looked right back up at him, " Look Daryl at least wait till your side heals and when it does I'll go with you to find her." I said as my eyes softened when I looked at him. Hoping that he would listen.

" You're not fully healed yourself, Sam." Daryl said.

" Are we talking about me or about you, which is it?" I said as I crossed my arms glaring at him again.

" We don't know if we're gonna find her, Daryl. We don't. I don't." Carol said

Daryl and I turned our heads to look at her in shock and Carol turned her head to look away from us, " Carol, this is your daughter we are talking about here." I said as I walked over to her.

" What?" Daryl snapped.

" Can't lose you too." Carol said as she ran out of the barn crying which left me and Daryl standing there in the barn. I looked down to the ground and I shook my head, but then I looked up at Daryl to see him continue to bridal the horse and I walked over to Daryl and placed my hand on his.

" Daryl, you need to stop before you get hurt." I said as he glared at me, he yanked his hand from me and he walked over to grab the saddle and tried to pick it up angrily only to drop it to the ground and he gripped his side painfully. I went over to his side to try to help him, " Are you all right, Daryl?" I asked him.

Daryl swung his arm away from me and I backed away for him to get back up, " Just leave me be. You stupid bitch." Daryl said as he walked out of the barn, leaving me standing there alone.

I stayed in the barn after what Daryl said to me and I sat down on one of the hay bales for a while till I stood up and walked back to the others and I hung out with Carl and helped the others around the area and then I noticed that Rick was walking over to me and I got up to my feet as he got to me, " Hey, I just wanted to let you know that Hershel asked me to help him and Jimmy with something. I'll be back as soon as possible. Please keep an eye on Carl for me. I don't know about Shane anymore." Rick asked me.

I froze when he mentioned Shane's name and I looked away from Rick so he wouldn't see the fear in my eyes.

" Hey, Sam? Are you ok?" Rick asked me as he placed his hand on my shoulder and I jumped a little bit and I looked right at him.

" Yea, Yea I'm fine. Don't worry. I'll take care of Carl, get going." I said as Rick had a smile on his face as he shook his head and he headed towards the house.

" I'll be back later." Rick said to me as he looked over his shoulder and waved goodbye.

" Be safe." I said to myself as I watched him. Rick was such an amazing man that I have ever met. He is like the father that I always wanted. Protective, caring and everything that everyone should be. I respect him so much. As I was in my own thoughts, I felt a hand land on my shoulder. I shrieked and I turned around to see Daryl standing there, I placed my hand over my heart as I looked at him. As I looked at his eyes and I noticed there was regret and sorrow in them, we just stared at each other for a little while till he signaled me with his hands to follow him towards the woods.

" Carol, could you watch Carl for me? I'm going for a walk." I said as I turned my head to look at her and she nodded her head to me as I turned my head to look back at Daryl and I nodded my head to him and he took the lead and I followed him towards the woods.
