Chapter 21: Vader and Lunaris join the fight.
Back outside the Death Star the Rebel fleets are seen trying to dodge the empire's fire attacks on them while also still managing to shoot at them back causing some damage on the space station but it is not stopping it from reaching the Yavins system meaning that the Rebels are running out of time.
The Red Leader is seen flying through the Empire's heavy fire before he managed to speak.
Red Leader: Luke, let me know when you're guys going in.
The Red Leader informed Luke before he responded back.
Luke: Where are we on our way now...
Della: And we are gonna be right behind him just in case.
Red Leader: You guys watch yourselves! There's a lot of fire coming from the right side of that deflection tower.
Donald: I think we could tell where they are firing from.
Scrooge: Thanks for the heads up though, lad.
Luke: Where on it!
Luke along with Scrooge, Donald, and Della flew their X wings into a twisting dive to avoid the oncoming firing as they successfully got down the station's surface as they continued to keep on moving their battleships. The four then started to fire their laser bolts toward several small radar emplacements where a large number of imperials trying to shoot down the rebel fleet quickly blew up into flames before they started to quickly fly right back up to rejoin everyone else.
Luke: Great job guys! I really do appreciate your help.
Scrooge: It's not a problem, lad you are doing great as well.
Della: Well it is always best to have some much needed back up when you need it, Luke.
Donald: How about we save the thank yous and celebrations for after because we still have a long way to go in this battle.
He said as the three quickly agreed as they all managed to fly back with the rest of the fleet.
Back inside the Death Star the StormTroopers are further struggling on trying to shoot down the Rebels as the big guns they are using explode and are causing fire as many of the troopers who are injured or uninjured are seen struggling to make an escape from the Rebels constant attacks on them.
Biggs is seen diving through massive radar domes, antennas, and gun towers which quickly started to fire in his direction. Biggs quickly responds by shooting low the station's surface which quickly causes another explosion to occur as he too starts to fly back with the rest of the fleet.
Back inside the Massassi Outpost's war room, still with every non-pilot member, the kids, 3PO, and Duckworth are still listening into the battle is still going on but are starting grow a little nervous as they are starting to run out of time to Destroy the Death Star. One of the Control Officers is starting to pick some new oncoming targets that are coming their direction before he informs the whole crew.
Control Officer: Squad leaders, we've picked up a new group of singles. Enemy fighters coming your way.
The Officer informs the fleets as the Duck kids start to grow even more concerned of the events that are about to take place.
The whole crew then starts to take a look on their scanners but are having issues finding the targets.
Luke: My scopes are negative. I don't see anything.
Penumbra: Yeah, I'm not seeing anything on my scopes either.
Launchpad: Looks like these new targets might be miles away from us.
Della: How are we supposed to fight these targets if we can't even see them, it doesn't make any sense at all.
Red Leader: Keep up your visual scanning. With all this jamming, they'll be on top of you before your scope can pick them up.
Beakley: He does have a point we need to start expecting the unexpected cause these guys won't go down without a fight.
She said in agreement.
Not too far away a squad of Imperial Tie fighters start to quickly fly to the Rebels location.
Daisy: I think I just spotted some of them coming our way and they are coming at us fast.
She said as the Tie fighters started to chase down and fire at the rebel ships.
Biggs then panics as he notices that one of the Imperial Tie Fighters was flying right behind him as he desperately tries to shake the fighter off of his tail to make it lose its own balance.
Red Leader: Biggs! You've picked one up... watch it!
Biggs: I can't see it! Where is he?
He asked while feeling very stressful about the current situation he is in.
Biggs then quickly flies off the surface and a little further into space as the fighter continues to follow him to get a good aim on him. When the Imperial pilot did get an aim on Biggs but to his fortune the pilot missed him as Biggs continued to try and shake the Tie Fighter off of his ship.
Biggs: He's on me tight, I can't shake him! I can't shake him!
Biggs said as the Imperial pilot is still riding behind him while trying to get another aim at him.
Luke then starts to fly towards Biggs's direction.
Luke: Hang on, Biggs, I'm coming in.
Luke said as he manages to get much more closer to Biggs location as he prepares to fire at the Tie fighter.
As the Tie Fighter Pilot was about to aim at Biggs, he managed to dive out of the pilot's sight as Luke started to chase him down and to get an aim on the pilot before Luke managed to shoot him down.
Luke: Got him!
Luke said as he shot the Tie fighter down.
Della not long after did the exact same thing as did a quick loop on the Tie fighter that was chasing her before she quickly shot it down before the Imperial fighter managed to react in time.
Della: I also managed to shoot another one down. I think that was the last of them.
Scrooge: It seems like we have more Imperials coming right at us. Everyone be ready for them.
Scrooge said as he noticed more ships were coming on his scopes.
Beakley: We should split up quickly. We would all be easy targets for them if we all stay together as one.
She said as the rest of the Rebel fleet started to do just that as the new wave of Tie fighters started to close in on them.
Inside his Tie Fighter, Vader noticed that the rebel fleets started to split up into various groups as his crew started to approach them.
Vader: Several fighters have broken off from the main group. Come with me!
Lunaris: And my squad will go after the other group.
He said as the much larger Tie Fighter group also started to split up as well before going after the Rebel Fleets in different directions.
Back inside the War Room, Leia, 3PO, Dodonna, the Duck kids, Duckworth, and every other Rebel member started to grow more concerned about the current battle situation while they all listened to the Rebels' communications to one another on the room's loudspeaker.
Biggs: Pull in! Luke... pull in!
Wedge: Watch your back, Luke! Watch your back! Fighters above you coming in!
Donald: They are coming at you, fast!
They all warned Luke as he started to fly away from the space station's surface as he noticed another Tie Fighter was coming in his direction.
As Luke tried to fly away from the oncoming Tie Fighter, the Imperial pilot managed to fire at Luke striking the right side of his ship.
Scrooge: Lad are you alright?
He asked, concerned.
Luke: Yeah, I'm fine. I did get hit but it's not bad.
Luke: R2, see what you can do with it. Hang on back there.
He quickly instructs the tiny droid as the Imperial pilot continues to fire at him but this time manages to miss his target while Luke tries to work on his own ship's controls as he tries to get the pilot off of his own tail causing him to lose track with the rest of the fleet who are currently too focused with the rest of the oncoming Imperial Tie Fighters coming towards them..
Red Leader: Red Six...
He said over his headset before he continued.
Red Leader: Can you see red five?
He asked on his headset.
Scrooge: Negative, Red Leader. Having a hard time seeing him, he was with us a few moments ago.
Donald: Especially with all of these waves of imperials coming from out of nowhere.
Beakley: I don't see him on my side either.
Red Ten: There's a heavy fire zone on this side. Red, Five where are you?
He asked, concerned.
In a distance not too far away Luke notices a Tie Fighter was flying right behind him. Luke tries his best to shake it off but with no success.
Wedge then spots Lukes ship and quickly starts to fly towards him.
Wedge: I'm on him, Luke!
Wedge said as he got close to the Tie Fighter.
Wedge: Hold on!
Wedge says as he prepares to shoot the Tie Fighter down while Luke still struggles to shake it off.
Luke: Blast it! Wedge where are you?
He asked in panik as the Imperial was about to make his shot before Wedge managed to shoot it down first much to Luke's relief.
Luke: Thanks, Wedge.
Luke said as both of them started to make their way back to the rest of the fleet.
Biggs: Good shooting, Wedge!
He complimented the fellow Rebel Pilot.
Donald: Then noticed two Imperial fleets were flying towards him much to his horror.
Donald: Crap!
He said as the Imperials started to shoot at him but managed to miss but continued to follow him. Donald tries to spot the ships but is having trouble doing so.
Donald: Report, I have two imperial ships right on my tail and it's currently shooting at me right now!
Daisy: Just stay put, help will be coming.
Della: Don't worry Donnie, I'm coming now.
Della said as both ships quickly flew towards Donald who was still trying to shake off both ships as one of them managed to hit his left wing.
Donald: I'm hit! I just got hit! I don't know how much I have time left.
Daisy: Just keep distracting them.
Della: We almost got an aim.
They both said as they managed to reach Donalds location and got their aims ready and managed to shoot down both ships before they managed to shoot Donald down first.
Donald: Thanks ladies. Appreciate your help.
Daisy: It ain't a problem Donald.
Della: It's what we all do. We watch out for one another.
Daisy: You ok?
She asked him.
Donald: Yeah, a little bit banged up but this ship can still fly and I still have full control.
Della: Well that's great to hear.
Donald: Let's try to fly back with and help out everyone else.
He said as the three of them went to do just that.
Gold Leader: Red Leader...
He said getting the Red Leader's attention before he continued.
Gold Leader: This is gold Leader. We're starting our attack run.
He said as his Y wing and two other Y wing ships followed him down to the Space Stations surface to begin their attack run on the target.
Red Leader: I copy Gold Leader, Move into position.
Red Leader said to the Gold Leader in response.
As the Gold team begins their run Three imperial ships begin to follow them with Vader riding in the middle ship.
Vader: Stay in formation!
He instructed his fellow Imperial Pilots as they continued to move in on the Gold team.
Gold Leader: The exhaust port is...
He said as he took a moment to set up his target before continuing once it is fully confirmed.
Gold Leader: Marked and locked in!
He said as his team continued their approach on the Space Station's surface.
Gold Leader: Switch power to front deflector screens.
He instructed his team as not long after, laser bolts started to fire at them.
Gold Leader: How many guns do you think, Gold Five?
He asked his fellow fleet member.
Gold Five: I'd say about twenty guns. Some on the surface, some on the towers.
He informed the Gold Leader.
Back at the Massassi War Room, Leia, 3PO, Duckworth, the Duck kids, Dodonna, and every other rebel member view the projected target screen with red and blue glowing light targets. The red target near the center is blinking on and off.
Massassi Intercom: Death Star will be in range in five minutes.
It announced much to everyone's horror and concern, especially the kids as they all knew that the Rebels were running out of time to stop the Empire's plan and was close to succeeding.
