A/N: Chapter 3 of Lycans and a new start. I have read several werewolf stories and came across a handful of Lycan stories. Two Lycan stories and one challenge lead to this story. Inspired by stories: Rise of Lycans from Whitetigerwolf and Kaleb-yamato, and the challenge from timbarney110, challenge not followed. This story starts near the end of CoS 2nd year, in place of end of 3rd year for most. This story is focused around the relationship of Harry and Katie, even if it seems to have others it is about them and the growing they will have being the alphas. Bashing will occur for some, and just expansion of known traits on others.
The story has not been beta read and most likely has numerous grammatical errors and thought jumps. I work on this when my muse hits story block on The Bond and the Ritual, so updates will be very slow. It is hard to write one when the muse wants something else. Please read, review.

5 July
Harry's Tent Bradley wood
The sun was up when Harry slowly woke up. Looking around he noted that he was in his tent, and just barely remembers Dobby bring them here last night. It is with this thought that he notices a weight snuggled into his left side pinning his arm down. Looking down he sees a head of warm chocolate brown hair resting on his chest. Slowly he tries to extract himself from the bed and is unable to as the form next to him latches on tighter to his side. Relenting he remains where he is for know and starts to reflect over the dream he had.
Katie was slowly drifting awake when she felt her source of warmth and security try and move away from her, so she holds on tighter and snuggles in closer into it. It stops moving and remains in place, to her comfort. Slowly Katie opens her eyes and looks around noting that she is not in her room and that her head is laying on something that is not a pillow. She lifts her head and turns looking around and identifies the room as a tent, and then looking further to her right realizes she was laying on someone's chest. Harry, she suddenly realizes that they were laying together last night. Turning around she finds herself looking into those wonderful emerald green eyes.
"Morning beautiful," greets Harry, as Katie's gaze meets his.
"I do not remember much from last night," stated Katie. "Did Dobby bring us here?" Hearing his name Dobby arrives in the room with a soft pop.
"Oh, Great Wizard Harry Potter and Mistress are awake," stated Dobby, excitedly as evidence of worry was leaving his face.
"Thank you Dobby," replied Harry. "How long have we been asleep?"
"It is about late morning," replied Dobby. "Does master and mistress want breakfast?"
"Yes we're both Hungary," answered Harry. "Dobby what do you mean by master and mistress?"
"Letters arrived earlier this morning for both of you," answered Dobby. "One owl from goblins and one from ministry. I go make breakfast." Harry nodded his understanding.
It was when Dobby left that the teens realize that they are only partially dressed. Harry only had his boxers on while Katie was wearing an oversized shirt. Harry quickly got out of bed and grabbed some clothes from his trunk and found one of his robes for Katie. He then left towards with bathroom to change to allow Katie to get up.
After Harry left Katie got out of bed stretching and feeling some joints pop in relief. It was then that she noticed some changes in her body. Taking off the oversized shirt she looked in the small mirror on the wardrobe and saw the mild changes. She was taller, her hair thicker and slightly longer, she had more muscle tone than before and her chest was fuller, and she could just make out the faintest bite mark on her shoulder. While reaching for Harry's robe she saw her clothing sitting on a small table next to the wardrobe. Setting the robes down she picked up her clothes and saw that they were all repaired, so she got dressed expecting to find that they would be tight with her changes, but fit nicely and were comfortable.
In the bathroom Harry looked in the mirror and was surprised to see the change in his body. First he noted that the scar on his forehead was barely noticeable. Next was that he was taller and his filled out. He no longer looked like an undersized kid. Looking at his shoulder he could just see a bare hint of a bite mark, and turn sideways he noted that most of the scars on his back were gone. Happy to not have to see those scars he quickly finished getting dress and finished his ablutions. Exiting the bathroom he saw Katie waiting to get in. He stepped out of her way to allow her into the room while he headed for the living area.
Harry had just sat down when Dobby brought over a tea service to the table. Shortly followed up with a light breakfast for the two teens. While he was making his tea Katie arrived and sat down beside him and started on her own tea.
"Dobby, breakfast looks good," complemented Harry. "When we are done here can you take up to Katie's house? Her parents are most likely very upset that Katie didn't come home."
"Master Harry Dobby can be doing," replied the elf. "Dobby left note for Bell parents saying you are okay and safe."
"Thank you Dobby," stated Katie.
Dobby then brought over the four letters to the two teens. They each had a letter from the Ministry and two letters from Gringotts, one addressed to both and another for Harry.
Harry opened the letter form Gringotts first.
Dear Lord and Lady Potter,
Congratulations on your marriage and soul bond.
As the results of your bond you are now legally emancipated and may access the Potter Family Vaults. It is in your best interest to come to Gringotts as soon as possible to update your status with the bank. As your are still minors it is advised that you bring a mentor with your for your visit.
May your vaults always grow.

"Katie, looks like we have a busy day," stated Harry, still looking at the letter, before handing it over.
"No kidding, between explaining to mum and dad and the visit with the goblins," agreed Katie.
Katie then reached for the letter from the Ministry.
Dear Mr Potter and Miss Bell, (respective letter)
The Ministry of Magic wishes to congratulate you on your soul bond. As part of a soul bond you are considered emancipated and can perform magic when ever within the Statute of Secrecy. You are entitled to take up your Wizengamot seats, along with your Lordship. As students you are entitled to married quarters during the school year at Hogwarts. Also you will need to remain in close proximity for the next several months.

After looking at his letter from the Ministry, Harry informed Katie that it stated the same thing. Harry picked up the last letter from Gringotts.
Dear Lord Potter,
It is imperative that you come to Gringotts as soon as possible to discuss your change in status and for you to take up your titles and Lordships. We can also review the Wills of you parents, and go over several transactions concerning your accounts.
May your vaults always grow.

"Well, it looks like I have a lot of business with the goblins," stated Harry.
"I would say so, and some of it will include me," answered Katie. "Now how do I tell mum and dad that besides being attacked by a werewolf that we are also married by soul bound."
"Simple. We tell them slow, straight and together," replied Harry, as he hug his mate. "We had better get moving, we have a lot to do today. Dobby can you take us to the back garden at Katie's house?"
"Dobby can be doing," replied the eager elf. The teens made sure they had everything, they each took a hold of Dobby's hand and they departed for Katie's.

Headmasters Office
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, has been the headmaster of the school for he last 28 years and a professor for 41 years before that. In that time has has collected numerous tomes on magic and the fields of magic and its creatures. He has also collected various magical devices tied or attuned to several people in magical Britain, or others of importance to him. Several of these devices are tied to one individual, a 12year old boy who had just completed his second year at the school. Late last night many of these devices have stopped working or are now running erratically. One device in particular was sending clouds of black smoke, as it monitored the condition of wards around a muggle house in Surrey. Black smoke from this device meant that the wards were no longer present. The only device that appeared to working correctly was the one monitoring the life of the boy. Earlier last night even it was acting strangely before it settled down back to a gentile swing. The only person or creature to see the changes of the devices was Fawkes, who trilled a happy song with the change in the magical constructs.

Opening the back door Katie yells out, "Mum, dad we're home."
Elvina rushes into the kitchen hearing her daughters voice call out. She is besides herself with worry waiting to hear from her daughter. "Where have you been, young lady?" questioned Elvina.
"We were attacked last night and both of us were injured and Dobby took us to Harry's tent and treated our wounds and other injuries," replied Katie.
"What are you not telling us young lady," inquired Philip, looking at the two teens as he walked into the room. "I have been to the end of Town Mill Lane and saw the evidence of a fight that took place there last night."
"Sir, we both had several injuries and neither of us could move well. I called Dobby and asked him to bring Katie home. Katie refused to leave me, and Dobby made the decision to take us to my tent as he knew the potions available to help heal and then he went about fixing our injuries that he could," answered Harry.
"That explains part of the fight, but it does not explain the changes in the two of you," stated Philip.
Katie and Harry look at one another, knowing that they had to be honest with her parents and needed to tell them everything. All of this was said with the shared look they had.
Elvina and Philip both recognized the look that the teens just had, as they have had the same style of talks in the past. Seeing the faces of her parents Katie took the lead.
"Mum, Dad we will need some tea and you both will need to sit down for what we are going to tell you," answered Katie. "We do not have time to go into full detail know as we need to see the goblins at Gringotts today still."
"No. We need to explain things now, Gringotts can wait for tomorrow," stated Harry.
"Why do you need to visit Gringotts?" asked Elvina as she got up to make tea.
"Ma'am, Sir, part of what we need to talk about arrived this morning while we were both sleeping," answered Harry. "Two owls arrived with letters from Gringotts and the Ministry. Because of the events that happened last night were are now emancipated as I am know Lord Potter and Katie is now Lady Potter."
"Young man, you had better explain fast how a fight last night ended with my only daughter married," demanded Philip.
"Dad, calm down, it took us by surprise when we read the letters,"replied Katie.
"I did not ask you, young lady, I was asking the boy here," retorted Philip.
"I'm no boy!" yelled Harry. "I have face more danger growing up and in the past two years than you have in your past ten years. I have almost died at the end of each year while at Hogwarts, and wished I was dead while at my relatives on a few occasions after the beatings." Katie hearing what Harry just said, turned and grabbed her mate and pulled him into her chest holding him, and pushing all of the love she could find to him.
Philip was about to tear into Harry, when Elvina spoke up. "Philip, stop. You still do not have all of the facts and you are accusing this child, with your tone."
Philip stopped at hearing his wife tone and realizing what he was doing. He backed up and sat down in a chair across the table from the young couple.
Seeing that her mum had brought the tea service to the table. Katie reached into her pocket with one hand while not releasing her hold on Harry and pulled out the letters. She pushed them towards her mum to let her read them first.
Philip started to reach for one of the letters, before his hand was smacked. Elvina opened and read the letter addressed to Lord and Lady Potter first and then the two letters from the Ministry seeing that they had the same information.
"A soul bond, how?"asked Elvina, with a shaky voice.
"Dobby had given each of us a pain potion before he stated to fix our broken ribs, and he had left to get a sleep potion for us, we were leaning against each other and I felt a pull towards Harry. All that I remember is a bright silvery flash as we kissed," stated Katie.
"Dobby, told us this morning, that when he returned we were both unconscious. He moved us to the expanded bed and we woke up about 1000," added Harry.
"So, how does a soul bond mean your married young lady?" inquired Philip. Hearing her husbands question, Elvina pushed the letter from Gringotts towards him.
"Philip, a soul bond is so rare that in the magical world it is protected by law as the couple involved could die if force apart, it is treated as a legal marriage," replied Elvina, as she pushed Katie's letter from the ministry to her husband.
Philip read the two letters and looked at the two teens sitting before him. "What does this mean for school and your future?" questions Philip.
"We are unsure, but we will continue with school for now and will address the issues as they come up," stated Harry. "Our relationship will progress at the pace we set, there is no rush or hurry. We both need to find out what we can on this bond, so that we can fully understand what it means."
"Harry maybe it would be best if mum and dad come along with us to Gringotts, maybe your account manager may be able to answer some of their questions," commented Katie.
"You may be right," answered Harry. "Would the two of you be willing to go with us to Gringotts tomorrow? I know there is more that needs to be discussed, but right know we need more time to process what has happened to us and what we were told. Give us a bit more time and we will try to explain later."
"We have both called out for the day as you were not home and we wanted to be here when you got back to make sure you were okay," stated Elvina. "Lets finish our tea and the two of you go sit in the garden and discuss what happen while we put lunch together. Then we can discuss the rest of the information."
Philip nodded his agreement to the plan and the two teens finished their tea and then left for the bench out in the garden under the large tree. Harry sat down on the bench at one end leaning back against the bench, when Katie sat down and leaned up against him pulling her feet up to her side, Harry wrapped his arm around Katie's shoulder. Elvina and Philip watched the two teens from the kitchen window as they cleaned up from the tea and started to work on a light lunch.
"Harry, were do we start?" asked Katie.
"I don't know. Maybe we should start with the fight and then talk about what the goddess said," answered Harry.
"I think that will be best for dad, as he will want the facts," replied Katie. They both just sat quietly going over the events from last night in their heads and trying how to tell the tale.
[Harry, what does this soul bond mean for us?] questioned Katie, rousing Harry from his thoughts.
"Katie, did you say something?" asked Harry.
"No. Why?" responded Katie.
"I just heard you ask what the soul bond means for us," stated Harry.
'Did he just hear my question? I was thinking about that topic and how it will affect us,' thought Katie.
"I was thinking about that question and how it will change things for us," answered Katie. 'Is this one of he gifts that we will get from our bond, is talking to one another in thought?' questioned Katie.
[Harry, what happened in the chamber?] Katie asked. She was looking up at Harry to see what his face would tell when she asked the question.
"Katie, did you ask a question?" asked Harry with a look of confusion on his face. He heard the question, but it did not come from beside him, where Katie was sitting.
"Yes, but I was thinking the questions," responded Katie. "That is twice now that you have asked if I had said anything. I was thinking on the questions. I wonder if mind speak is one of the gifts that soul bonded couples get?"
"So you did ask me about what the soul bond means for us and about the chamber?" asked Harry.
"Yes," replied Katie, while nodding her head. "Try asking or saying something to me, in your mind and not out loud."
Harry thought a bit about what to say then found an idea. [Katie, is this warm comfort feeling deep in my chest that I have when you're around, is this what love feels like?]
"Yes, Harry," replied Katie. "It is one of the ways it is described."
The two teens looked at one another with a look of awl on their faces and as they both got lost looking into each others eyes. Harry was sinking into warm coco brown globes while Katie found herself bathed in bright emerald green eyes. As they were lost into each others eyes they felt like that, they were sharing and seeing their souls together. This sharing of looks and souls, opened their feelings towards one another and Harry now was feeling what love was from Katie and her parents, and remembering how it felt from his mum and dad. Katie was seeing the pain and anguish that Harry had suffered through while living with his relatives, and his desire to be loved. They were both lost to the world around them as they closed in for a kiss, that was not even close to being chaste, that it was several minutes before their senses returned to normal. So lost were the two that they did not notice the glowing golden sphere form around them.
Elvina and Philip rushed out of the house, with concern, as they saw the sphere surround the teens, but they could not push through it or get to the teens. As the two separated from their kiss the sphere slowly faded from view, leaving the two adults confused and concerned as to what happened. Philip was somewhat angry and annoyed that the two teens were kissing, this was his little princess.
"What was that?" asked Elvina.
"What was what mum?" questioned Katie, in confusion to her mum's question.
"That golden sphere that was around the two of you," clarified Elvina.
"I would have to guess that was part of our bond strengthening," replied Harry, looking at the two adults. "The goddess said that there would be strange happenings as our bonded strengthened."
"We may have found another gift of the bond," added Katie.
"What is that?" inquired Elvina.
"We can talk with each other in our minds," responded Katie. "How far it will go or what it will include, we do not know. We found this just now. Harry thought I had asked him a question, I had not asked anything, but was thinking on the question."
"We will stop at Flourish & Blotts to see what they have on soul bonds, more than likely not much," stated Elvina. "Now that we know you two are okay, we will go back and finish getting lunch together." With that said the adults went back into the kitchen to finish making the sandwiches and salad for lunch.
"Harry, can you tell me what happened and how you lived with your relatives?" asked Katie. Harry looked down at his feet, as he never wanted to talk about that. "While we were inside the sphere and looking in your eyes, I got flashes of pain and suffering from you. I know that it is hard for you to talk about this, but I think it is important that we talk about it, so you can start to heal."
Harry looked at Katie and her face and eyes told him that she was not trying to pry into his childhood, but had seen the pain he had suffered at the hands of his relatives and was wanting to understand what happen to him so that they can heal the wounds together.
[Tonight, I will talk with you about my relatives and what life was like with them,] answered Harry.
[Okay,] replied Katie, as they both slipped back into thoughts of last nights events.
"Lunch," called Elvina, from the back door.
"Coming," answered Katie, getting up and pulling Harry off the bench with her.
The family had a nice enjoyable lunch and made small talk about different topics. Once lunch was done and the kitchen cleaned the two adults and two teens moved in the living room with Elvina and Philip taking seats in their respective chairs while Katie and Harry took seats on the couch.
"Please hold your questions and let us tell you what happened last night," stated Harry. The two adults nodded.
"You know we left for a stroll through the village last evening, before Harry had to leave," started Katie, receiving nods from her parents. "Well we had just passed the silk mill and was heading towards the primary school and the river walk, when we heard the first faint howl, from behind us. It was then that Harry noted the full moon and we picked up our pace. As we were passing the school and approaching the bridge we heard the second louder howl, now more to our right. We had just crossed the bridge and were heading up the path when the creature that attacked us appeared."
"At first we could not tell what it was because of the shadows from the trees," continued Harry. "I put Katie behind me and we started to back up towards the lane. I saw a piece of metal pipe laying on the side of the lane and picked it up. As the creature continued towards us it stepped out of the deeper shadow and we could see that had a human shaped body. We continued to move towards the lane when it charged. I ducked its first swing at me and swung the pipe as hard as I could and felt and heard the crunch of bone as I hit it in the jaw/muzzle. He did not miss catching me with his second attack. Knocking me backwards and onto the ground."
"I yelled for Harry seeing him get hit," picked up Katie. "I saw a pile of fist sized rocks and picked one up and threw it at the creature. I got lucky, because the rock hit the creature in the left eye socket, I could hear the bone crunch when the rock hit. This allowed Harry to scramble away from the creature and get back up. In the light on the lane we were able to see that what was attacking us was a werewolf. Seeing Harry was closer he attacked him again and was able to avoid Harry's swing. The creature struck Harry again before grabbing Harry, biting his shoulder and then throwing against the wall. Seeing the werewolf bit Harry I threw another rock and hit him near his left eye area again, and I missed with my last rock. The werewolf then moved towards me and hit me knocking me against the fence. I heard/felt something crack, when I hit the wall, and was dazed by the impact. That is when it started to try and tear my clothes off."
Elvina and Philip both were sitting there staring at their daughter and her mate with pale faces as the blood drained away at hearing what had happen to the two. Elvina, knew that their lives had been changed forever by last nights events. Philip took a liking to the boy, for trying to protect his daughter from attack. He was disturbed that the creature was attempting to rape his daughter during the attack. Before either of them could form a question or statement, Harry picked back up with the story.
"I was just getting my bearing, when I heard Katie scream," stated Harry. "I looked around and found the werewolf focused on Katie and trying to rape her. I still had the pipe, but needed something that would hurt the werewolf. My magic must have known what I needed for the pipe changed into a large dagger and I charged at the creature, intent on stabbing it in the back. It herd me and turned enough that the dagger went into his left shoulder cutting a lot of muscle, before hitting bone and breaking off, leaving most of the blade in the shoulder. It let out a most bloody scream/howl I had ever heard. He tried to grab me with his injured harm but I moved away. After that howl, it turned back towards Katie and grabbed her again biting her shoulder before tossing her against the brick wall. I heard a crack when she hit."
"This is were it gets weird," continued Katie. "I do not know if it was the impact or what by the next thing I see is a large shadow figure stalk towards the werewolf and grab it by the left arm and threw him against the brick house behind me. The shadow figure then grabbed the werewolf again and slams him down on top of the low wall along the lane, before tossing the werewolf off towards the river. I hear a splash, but no other sound. When I look up again, all I see is Harry staggering towards me."
"I remember stabbing the werewolf, and it biting Katie, then everything is a fog," added Harry. "When the fog cleared I saw Katie laying against the wall and staggered over to her. As we sit their I call for Dobby, and tell him to bring Katie home. She refuses to leave and Dobby made his decision and took us to my tent."
"I remember arriving there and the two of us sitting on the bed as Dobby leaves to get the pain potions," continued Harry. "Once he was back and we had taken the potions, he started to heal our wounds and broken bones. It was when he left to get the sleep potions that I had this pulling in my chest or feeling of needing to look at Katie and kiss her."
"The same with me towards Harry," added Katie. "I recall kissing Harry, and then waking up in a bright sunny meadow of tall grass with Harry laying beside me." Harry nodded his agreement. "We both got up and looked around. We noticed that neither of us had any injuries. While looking around we saw a garden like area off a ways and started towards it. We located the gate through the hedge row and made our way inside. We followed the noise of water falling to a fountain. It was here that we were joined by six women."
"They Identified themselves as Mórrigan, Freyja, Bastet, Hecate, Diwija, Selena," stated Harry, as he picked up the story. "They informed us that we had been attacked by Fenrir Greyback, and that he will suffer for attacking us, they did not go into detail. We questioned them about turning into a monster, but Mórrigan and Selena, calmed our fears, some what, in agreeing that we will change but not into monsters. The curse/disease had been changed by several factors in my body and out. This mutation of the curse/disease, we will call the change/gift, made us into Lycan. We will retain our own free will and only are forced to change during our first full moon. We gain the ability to change at will and many of the other benefits. Wolfsbane potion has no effect on us. We cannot infect other with our change by a bite alone." Here the two teens stopped telling their story and waited for Elvina and Philip to formulate questions.
It was Elvina who recovered first. "How are you different from werewolves?" she asked.
"We never loose our minds to the wolf or blood lust," stated Katie. "Silver will hurt us by not in the way it will a normal werewolf. We also have three forms that we can choose, but not until after our first full moon. We will have a wolf form, our human self and a hybrid form."
"How do you infect others if your bite cannot spread the disease?" inquired Philip.
The two teens look at one another and start to turn red with embarrassment at explaining the answer. "Well, um m, it sort goes..." stammered Katie, turning a nice shade of tomato red down her neck and onto her chest. Harry was not any better in his shade of red.
Elvina picked up on the two teens embarrassment and attempts to change the topic. "Honey, I take it that is a little to personal for them to explain," stated Elvina. Philip nodded seeing the embarrassment of the two teens.
"I can say that the person has to be willing to accept the change for us to infect them," added Harry, after several false starts. Now it was Elvina and Philips turn to blush as they finally start to understand what has to partially happen.
"What other changes will there be, because of this?" asked Elvina.
"I will be able to control my cycle," stammered Katie, embarrassed by talking about this in front of her dad. "Also our pheromones will help to control the pack, as it forms and grows."
"Pack, as in a pack of wolves?" asked Philip.
"Yes. That is the name for our extended family," answered Harry. "Katie and I are the alpha pair in the pack or family."
"How big is this pack/family going to be?" asked Elvina.
"We do not know at this time. The goddess said they would talk with us again as the full moon approached," replied Katie.
"So to summarize what I understand," started Elvina. "You two have been bitten by Greyback and his bite infected the two of you but the infection was mutated by a multitude of forces and magic. You both will know more after the next full moon and neither of you can infect another person and you are not a dark creature."
"Yep, that about sums up what we know," replied Katie. "We asked, how we will not be labelled as dark creatures and the goddesses told us not to worry right know."
"How about you two go for a stroll, while dad and I talk this through," stated Elvina. "We talked while making lunch and I will go with the two of you tomorrow to Gringotts, while your dad has to work." The two teen nodded understanding as they get up and head for the door to take a walk around town and do some window shopping.

In an unknown pocket of time and space
"How are we going to keep the children from being labelled dark creatures?" asked Mórrigan.
"The child has already been exposed to both basilisk venom and phoenix tears and he carries both in his system. They are part of the reason he is now a Lycan and not a werewolf," explained Bastet. "It was part of an ancient ritual along the Nile to show that chosen children were in fact a child of Bastet. I will influence one of the Medjay to come seek the children out and teach them the ways to fight undead. As they are children of Bastet and the Medjay will see this when they meet."
"They have the power now to cast the charm, but after their transformation they will become stronger and their charm will destroy the undead," stated Hecate.
"We need to talk with them again before the full moon to help ease their fears and reassure them of their path and future," added Selena. "We will also need to discuss the changes to their soul bond and what these changes mean. We will also need to discuss what the gift can and cannot do for the ones accepting of the gift."
"Yes the pack bond aspect of the soul bond will protect the true soul bond between the two and allow for select additional mates to join in the bond," added Freyja. "Jealousy will never be present within the pack between the females, and all will defer to the alpha female."
