We woke up the next morning and started to get ready to check the rest of the prison and everyone gathered some armor and other things on the table and some things had walker slime dripping from it.

" Flashbangs, C5 Triple-Chasers. Not sure how they'd work on walkers, but we'll take them." Rick said to us.

I wasn't gonna wear none of that armor and I knew Daryl wouldn't ethier cause the look on his face said it all as he picked it up and then dropped it back down to the table, " I ain't wearing this shit." Daryl said as he looked at Rick.

" We could boil them." T-Dog offered as he looked at the gloves that he picked up.

" Ain't enough firewood in a whole forest, no! Besides, we've made it this far without them right?" Daryl asked as he looked over at Rick who nodded his head in agreement.

" Hershel?" Carol called and we all turned to see Carol standing at the door where Lori was and it made me neverse when I saw the look on her face.

" Everything alright?" Rick asked as he looked at Carol.

" Yeah, nothing to worry about." Carol said as she gave a shy smile and nodded her head. I knew that she was lying by the look in her eyes. I walked in and sat down on the bed and grabbed her hand.

" What's wrong?" I asked her as I squeezed her hand in comfort.

" It's the baby, I think I lost it." Lori said as my eyes widened as I looked over at Carol who looked sadly back at me.

" You haven't felt it move?" Hershel asked her as he knelt in front of her.

" Nothing. And no Braxton-Hicks. At first, I thought it was exhaustion and malnutrition." Lori said as I could feel her hand shake a little bit.

" You're anemic?" Hershel asked as she nodded her head to him.

" Alright, give me just a minute. Carol? Mind helpin' me?" Hershel asked Carol who nodded her head to him and they left the cell.

" Hey, everything is going to be okay. I promise." I said as I squeezed her hand.

" If we're all infected then so is the baby. So what if it's still born? What if it's dead inside me right now, what if it rips me apart?" Lori asked me as tears slid down her face.

" Lori, stop. That's not going to happen." I said as I placed my hand on her face to make her look at me.

" Okay. Let's say it lives, and I die during childbirth." Lori said.

" That won't happen either. Hershel and Carol are gonna to take care of you and the baby." I said to Lori.

" Yes, but if I die and I come back, I want you to put me down immediately, no hesitation!" Lori said as she grabbed my other hand and looked at me I didn't know what to say to her, but all I did was node my head to her and she released my hands as we sat in silence waiting for Hershel to come back.

" Hey Sam, can I ask you something?" Lori asked as she broke the silence.

" What's that?" I asked her back as I turned to look at her.

" If I do die." Lori started to say, which made me get up from where I was and I stood in front of her.

" Lori, please don't." I said as I shook my head to her.

" Please Sam, you need to hear me out. If I do die and the baby survives, I want you to watch out for it, protect it." Lori said as I froze when she said that.

" Lori….I….I don't." I said as I was still in shock with what she was telling me.

" Sam, I know you have been through a lot in your life. But I see you being a great mother. You care about us and you are a part of my family. I would feel better knowing that the baby is being taken care of by you." Lori said as she gave me a small smile as Hershel walked back in.

" Now let's make sure everything's alright." Hershel said as he knelt down in front of her.

' She really thinks that I would be able to take care of a child. Alright Lori, I'll take care of the baby. I'll protect it with my life.' I thought as I walked out of the cell room and back towards the others.

" Where'd you run off to?" Daryl asked me as I walked over to his side.

" Just wanted to check on Lori." I said as I looked at him as he turned to me with a riot guard vest in his hands.

" Here, put this on." Daryl said as he placed it in my hands.

" Why do I need this?" I asked him as I looked at it in confusion.

" I just want you to be safe." Daryl said as he looked at me. I nodded my head to him as I pulled the vest over my head. Once it was in place, Daryl adjusted it to fit me. I really hated how it felt on me, but at least I'm not alone since Maggie and T-Dog had to wear one as well. I glared at Daryl as he smirked at me before going back to the weapons on the table.

" Alright, let's go." Rick said as he moved towards the door. I walked over to the table and I grabbed a pistol from the table. I left Dale's gun where me and Daryl were sleeping and I didn't want to lose it. I looked at it for a little while till I stuffed it into my waistband and I also grabbed my crossbow and I also grabbed a machete and put it on the back of my pants. I walked over to Carl and I ruffled his head and I could tell from his face that he was not happy about him not going with us. Hershel joined us once he was done checking on Lori and then I followed right behind everyone and I walked out of the cell block and shut the door and down into the tombs.

As we crept down the hallways silently, we were checking for any walkers before we moved a head. It was very dark and the only light came from our flashlights as we walked around. I checked every cell that we came across to make sure that we were clear before I turned to the others, " How are we going to find each other if we get lost?" I asked everyone.

" Like this," Glenn said as he turned towards the wall after we had taken another turn down another hallway. I watched him pull out some spray paint and then he began to draw a lager white arrow on the dark gray wall. After he was done, he put the spray paint back into his back pocket, " In case anyone gets separated by chance, just use the arrows to find your way back to the cell block." Glenn said as he looked back at us.

We all nodded our heads as we moved ahead and I was in between Rick and Daryl. I held my crossbow tightly in my hands as I kept my eyes out for any walkers. We moved down another hallway and a smell hit my nose that made me gag as I looked around to see a half eaten dead corpse.

Water was dripping from the ceiling, which made a large puddle that I stepped over and then after that I stepped over and then after I stepped over a dead body praying that it doesn't wake up. As Glenn was painting another arrow on the wall, something bumped into him and the person screamed.

We all turned around to see that it was Maggie that bumped into Glenn. I could see that she was embarrassed since her cheeks were red before she shook her head to calm herself as we continued on. Something didn't feel right, it was too quiet and we haven't seen any walkers anywhere. I was hoping the others felt the same thing.

Then there was a loud bang from straight in front of us and we all stopped in place, listening to see if only other bangs followed right after. When there wasn't another bang we continued to move down the hallway and as we turned the corner, we gasped in shock at the large pack of walkers that was just a few feet away from us.

" Go back!" Rick yelled as the walkers started to make their way to us. The walkers were growling furiously and tried to reach us and Daryl wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me to the back with the others. We started to sprint down the hallway, trying to follow the arrows that Glenn placed on the walls as it was taking us back towards the cell block. But that was hard since it was dark and we were in a panic.

I followed others trying to make sure that the others stayed safe. I almost tried over a dead body, but Daryl was there to catch me before I fell to the ground. Daryl stayed near my side and held my arm so I wouldn't fall to the ground again as we moved down the hallway while I kept my grip on my crossbow as we continued to run down the hallway.

" This way!" Daryl yelled to the others as I was right on his side while I felt Rick's hand on my back, trying to make sure that I was with him along with Daryl. We sprinted down another hallway when I suddenly heard a scream from behind us and it belonged to Maggie.

I turned to look over my shoulder to see another pack of walkers that came out of nowhere and separated us from Maggie and Glenn, " Maggie! Glenn!" I screamed before the walkers started to come towards us again. Daryl came over to me and started to pull me back as I tugged against his hand as we were around another corner and we all shoved into a small room trying to catch our breaths and it was really hard to see around us without light.

" Where's Glenn and Maggie?" Rick asked as he looked around to see who was with him.

" We got separated. Some walker's split us up while we went one direction and they went in another way." I explained as I finally caught my breath.

" We have to go back." Hershel said in a worried voice about Glenn and his daughter. Rick nodded his head to agree with him. I pulled out my knife and held it very close to me after I placed my crossbow back on my back as Rick peeked outside the door to make sure that we were clear. Since it was clear, Rick took the lead again as we followed right behind him back down the hallway. Rick then turned to me and nudged his head to me and I came over to him and he let me take the lead, since I knew exactly where Maggie and Glenn disappeared too. Both Daryl and Rick were right behind me. Daryl had his crossbow raised at the ready and was ready to shoot anything down while Rick had his gun at the ready as well. Hershel was right behind us, calling for Maggie and Glenn, hoping to get a response to him.

' I hope they're okay. Please be okay.' I thought as I went around the corner.

" Ahhhh!" A voice screamed which made me jump and we all turned around to see Hershel on the ground with a walker on top of him, taking a bit out of his leg.

" Hershel no!" I screamed as I ran towards him and I grabbed the walker by its shoulders and then I drove my knife into its head before tossing it aside and then I turned my attention back to Hershel who was gasping in pain. Then I heard gasps behind us and I looked up to see both Maggie and Glenn standing there looking at all of us. I could see tears going down Maggie's face when she looked right at her father on the floor.

" Daryl! Get us out of here!" Rick yelled frantically as both Rick and Glenn pulled Hershel to his feet since he couldn't put any weight on his leg. Daryl shot down any walkers that came close to us as we followed right behind him along with the others. My heart was pounding in my chest and my ears were ringing as we were pushing down the hallway to a set of double doors that were locked. T-Dog moved around us and broke the lock and then he opened the door for us to go through and then he shut the doors behind us.

Both T-Dog and Daryl lean against the door to keep the walkers that followed us from coming in, while Me, Rick, Glenn and Maggie handle Hershel. Rick started by cutting the fabric around Hershel's leg, revealing the large bit from his leg. Rick pulled off his belt and wrapped it around Hershel's leg to stop the bleeding and then Rick held out his hand to me, " Sam, give me your machete now!" Rick yelled at me.

" What're you doing?!" Maggie asked as she watched me grab my machete and handed it to Rick with wide eyes.

" Sam, I need you to hold his leg down and keep it still. This is the only way for him to stay alive." Rick said to me as he ignored Maggie's question. I looked at him to make sure, to see if he was secured and as he was waiting for me and I nodded my head as I got up and walked over to Hershel's leg and got right on top of him and held it down tightly.

Then Rick raised the machete and then brought it down on his leg. Blood flew up and splattered on both me and Rick, but Rick continued to cut at his leg. With each hit, Hershel's leg would jolt in place as I held it down even though my hands were slick with his blood.

It took up to nine chops to remove Hershel's leg, but after the 5th chop, Hershel was unconscious. I loosen my grip on Hershel's leg as I looked at the stump in front of me as Rick dropped my machete on the ground, " Oh god." I gasped.

Everything around me started to slow down and I couldn't hear anything since my ears were still ringing. I looked down to the ground to notice the puddle of blood that I was sitting in. I started to move my hair out of my face, but then I stopped my hand when I noticed my hands. My hands were covered completely in blood, there was no white skin to be seen. Even my nails were red and bloody with blood dripping from my wrists to the puddle of blood underneath me.

" Duck!" I heard Daryl yelled and I snapped out of it and we all ducked our heads as Daryl rose to his feet with his crossbow in his hands and aiming at something he could see. At first I was confused and was wondering at what he saw till I saw movement from the corner of my eye and I turned my head in the direction to see six dark shadows right next to us. I stayed where I was, but I was able to get the chance to look around the area we were in, which was a cafeteria and then my eyes went back to the six shadows.

Daryl then turned on his flashlight at the strangers who I realized were inmates. One of them was staring down at us in shock and then swallowed slowly as he opened his mouth, " Holy shit."
