We stared at them for a second til Rick started to move towards a towel that was on the floor next to him and he started to wrap up Hershel's leg as he looked around frantically, " He's bleeding out. We've gotta go back!" Rick yelled at us.

As Daryl and T-Dog kept their eyes on the prisoners as the rest of us started to move to save Hershel's life. As I tried to get my brain working again, there was something about the sixth inmate that looked familiar to me, but I was really worried about Hershel. Glenn then pushed a table over to us, " Lift him." Glenn said,.

" Who the hell are you people?," One of the prisoners asked, " You don't look like a rescue team."

" Cause we ain't!" I yelled as I helped Rick and Maggie lift Hershel up on the table while Glenn kept it steady.

" Let's go! Get the door!" Rick yelled once Hershel was on the table.

As T-Dog pulled the doors open he stabbed a walker in the head and then kept them open, allowing us to push through. Rick, Glenn and Maggie took off with Hershel down the hallway, while me and T-Dog and Daryl stayed behind to look at the prisoners. I walked over to Daryl who was still aiming his crossbow at them as T-Dog was heading back to the others, " Come on Daryl, we need to go!" I yelled as I pulled on his arm.

Daryl sighed as he turned away from them and followed right behind me. T-Dog ran down the hallway ahead of me and Daryl as we tried to catch up with the others. When we finally caught up to the others, I started to help the others with Hershel's leg till I heard voices coming towards us and I turned my head to see the prisoners from the cafeteria and they followed us.

" Keep moving." Daryl said as he started to push the table.

We kept pushing the table down the hallway and then around the corner where I saw the cellblock, " Carl! Open the door! It's Hershel!" Rick yelled as we got to the door.

Carl came running towards the door and unlocked it, allowing us to get inside but I noticed that Daryl wasn't with us. And me knowing where he was, I went back through the door and I saw Daryl standing there with him aiming his crossbow at them. I grabbed my crossbow and aimed at them as well, ' Dad and the others will help Hershel. I'm staying with him.' I thought as I stood right beside him.

" Sam get out of here." Daryl immediately said to me as he noticed me.

" You think you can handle six prisoners by yourself? You may be damn good, but you're not that good." I said as I gave him a sideways glance of a glare as I looked back in front of me.

" Sam…I mean it….go." Daryl growled at me.

" No Daryl." I hissed back at him.

Daryl was about to say something to me till we heard footsteps entering our block. We both aimed our weapons at the men as they walked towards us. They stared at us with wide eyes without any weapons pointed at us, but I didn't trust any of them and Daryl shuffled over closer to me, " That's far enough." Daryl said.

" What you got going on in there?" The Mexican asked.

" Ain't none of your concern." I growled as his eyes landed on me.

A smirk appeared on his face as his eyes looked at me up and down, making me feel completely uncomfortable, " Hey asshole, eyes up here." Daryl snapped as he growled at him.

" Don't tell me, what's my concern?" The Mexican said with a smile on his face when he saw his reaction and then Daryl moved and stood in front of me now being protective. I moved a little bit so I could still have my crossbow aiming at them still.

" Chill, man. Dude's leg is messed up. Besides, we're free now. Why are we still here?" The bigger guy asked.

" He's got a point, you know." I said as I looked at the mexican. Daryl then looked at me which told me to shut up. I just rolled my eyes and I stood by his side again.

" Yeah, and I gotta check on my old lady." The other tall man said.

' The tall man is worried about his family, along with the one with a weird mustache as well. While the Mexican was rude and the other two haven't said a word, which worries me.' I thought as the Mexican pulled out a gun and pointed it at me and Daryl.

" Group of civilians breaking into a prison you've got no business being in, got me thinking there ain't no place for us to go!" The Mexican said as he glared at us.

" Why don't you go find out?" Daryl growled as he glared back at them.

" Maybe we'll just be going now." Mustache guy said.

" Hey, we ain't leaving!" The Mexican yelled at the others.

" You ain't coming in here either!" A voice yelled as I turned my head to see T-Dog standing by my side with his gun aimed right at them.

" Hey, this is my house, my rules, I go where I damn well please!" The Mexican yelled as he pointed his gun at T-Dog. It just got worse on both sides. But I was able to find out their names, the Mexican guy was Thomas, Mustache guy was Axel, and the tall guys were Oscar and ironically big tiny, and the short one that didn't say much was Andrew, but the last one that was with them never gave his name. He was a Mexican like Thomas but I couldn't get a good look at him since he stayed in the back and kept quiet. I could feel his eyes on me and it made me feel very uncomfortable.

" Hey, hey, hey! Everyone relax, there's no need for this." Rick said as he walked in and everyone went silent.

" How many of you are in there?" Thomas asked as he moved his gun over to Rick.

" Too many for you to handle." Rick said as he growled at them. Thomas looked at us and noticed that a gun wasn't pointed at him from Rick.

" You guys rob a bank or something? Why don't you take him to a hospital?" Thomas asked as my eyes widened in confusion as Rick just looked at the man questioningly.

" How long have you been locked in that cafeteria?" Rick asked them.

" Going on for like ten months." Thomas answered Rick's question.

" A riot broke out. Never see anything like it." Big Tiny said.

" Attica on speed, man." Axel added as he nodded his head.

" Ever heard about dudes going cannibal, dying, coming to life? Crazy." Andrew asked as he looked at us.

' They have no idea what's going on out there.' I thought as I looked at them feeling bad for them.

" One guard looked out for us, locked us up in the cafeteria, told us to sit tight, threw me this piece, and said he'd be right back. Took one of the other guys we had with us with him." Thomas said as he looked at us.

" And that was 292 days ago." Big Tiny said.

" 94 according to my.." Axel started to correct before getting cut off by the six guy.

" Shut the fuck up!" The sixth guy yelled and I froze in place once I heard his voice. My body started to shake a little bit.

" We were thinking that the army or the national guard should be showing up any day now." Big Tiny said with hope in his voice.

" There is no army." Dad said sternly.

" What do you mean?" Thomas asked as he looked over at Dad scared as he lowered his gun.

" There's no government, no hospitals, no police. It's all gone." Dad explained to them.

" For real?" Axel exclaimed.

" Serious." Dad said as he nodded his head to him.

" What about my moms?" Big Tiny asked.

" My kids, my old lady! Yo, you got a cellphone or something so we can call our families?" Oscar asked us in fear.

" You don't get it, do you?" Daryl said as he lowered his crossbow and then looked over at me and noticed that I was still shaking and he came over to me.

" No phones, no computers. As far as we can see, at least half the population's been wiped out. Probably more." Dad said to them.

" Ain't no way." Thomas said as he shook his head.

" See for yourself." Dad said as he moved to the side for the prisoners to see what was going on outside and that was when he looked at me and noticed that something was wrong. He walked over towards me.

" Hey what's wrong Sam?" He asked as he placed his hand on my shoulder as I shook even more.

' There is no way that he is still alive. I thought he would have been dead by now. If he sees me, I'm dead.' I thought to myself as I looked at the man that was my step father and I stopped breathing when he laid his eyes on me and he started to smirk at me. Then I felt myself being shaken and I shook my head and I turned my head to look at Daryl and Dad.

" Hey are you okay? You looked like you saw a ghost." Dad asked me as tears started to go down my face. Then I looked back at him and both Daryl and Dad looked towards the area where I was looking and from the corner of my eye I saw Dad's eyes widen.

" What is it Rick?" Daryl asked as he looked in the area where both me and Dad were looking.

" That's the man that hurt Sam when she was very little. I thought he was in another jail, not this one." Dad said as he pulled me behind him trying to hide me but I knew that it was too late.

Daryl glared at my step dad as he passed us along with the other prisoners, as they were heading towards the exit. Dad looked over at me and he lifted my chin to have me look at him.

" Sam, I want you to go back inside to the others. Me and Daryl will deal with the prisoners and him." Dad said as I looked at him.

" But what if he sees me leave? What if he follows me?" I asked as more tears went down my face.

" Don't worry, he won't be able to follow you. I'll make sure of that." Dad said as he looked over at Daryl and he nodded to him and Daryl nodded his head and he followed behind the prisoners.

" Okay Dad. I'm heading back. Please deal with him." I said as he nodded his head and I headed back to the main cell block. As I opened the door and the first thing that I heard was Lori getting onto Carl for leaving and getting stuff from the infirmary. I mean I would have done the same thing to help Hershel. Before I was able to go back to my area I heard Maggie screaming.

" Somebody help! Somebody! Please, help!" Maggie yelled as she was looking around for someone to help her.

I ran over to the cell and saw Beth crying and Maggie grabbed her sister as I noticed that Carol was nowhere to be seen. That was when both Lori and Carl ran in after me to see Hershel not breathing. When no one made a move towards him, I moved over to him and I placed my ear on Hershel's chest and I didn't even hear a heartbeat. I started to do CPR that my aunt Wendy taught me, " Come on, Hershel. I can't lose you too. Come on!" I said as I continued to do CPR. I was just about to give up, but I kept going and I leaned over to give him some air when I was grabbed by my hair. I screamed thinking that he had already turned and was about to bit me. I was pulled away from him by Maggie, I was trying to catch my breath as we watched Hershel as he fell back down on the bed, falling unconscious and breathing normally. I heard a click of a gun and I turned my head to see Carl pointing his gun at Hershel in fear. I walked over to him and I placed my hand on the gun and lowered it and he looked at me as I shook my head to him. Then I walked out of the cell and I went up to mine. My heart was beating so fast as I tried to calm my breathing as I laid on the cot and decided to take a nap while waiting for Daryl to come back and hoping that he was dead as well.

3rd person P.O.V

The men finally came back inside after a long day. Most of the prisoners were dead except for three. Axel, Oscar and Sam's step dad, but once they got outside, he took off as fast as he could from them. Rick followed him the best he could when he told Daryl to stay with the other two but lost him when he got around the corner. This made Rick feel very uncomfortable to know that he was now out here somewhere and he could come back and go after Sam. He needs to make that doesn't happen. Now both Axel and Oscar aren't bad guys, they were just scared and confused. But they couldn't be too careful. They walked over to Hershel's cell to see everyone smiling and laughing. Daryl leaned against the doorway as Rick made his way over to Hershel who was conscious.

Rick unlocked the handcuff on Hershel's hand and Hershel looked up at him and grabbed his hand giving him a thank you look. Daryl had a small smile on his face before he noticed that one person wasn't there. Sam. After a little while everyone left Hershel's cell to give him some time with his family and just as Daryl was leaving, Beth called out to him, " Daryl?"

He turned to her, " Can you please tell Sam thank you from us. If she hadn't been here, daddy wouldn't be alive right now." Beth said with happy tears in her eyes. He looked a little confused with what she said till he looked up to Maggie and she gave him a look with gratitude. He nodded his head and made his way to the perch. When he got up there he saw Sam asleep on the cot, he set his crossbow down and against the wall and made his way over to Sam's side and sat right next to her and lightly rubbed his fingers against her arm, which made her move and she opened her eyes and looked towards him.

" Hey there, sleepy head." Daryl said with a small smile on his face.

" Hey, how'd things go? Is he gone?" Sam asked him hoping that he was gone for good.

" There's only three left, Axel, Oscar and your step father. But he took off so we don't know where he is now. Big Tiny got scratched. Thomas and Andrew didn't play too well with others." Daryl said hoping the short version of what happened wouldn't freak her out.

" So, Steven is still alive? Out there somewhere?" Sam asked as she started to shake again but Daryl placed his hands on her shoulders and stopped her immediately.

" He won't come to you. I promise you this. If he does, he is a dead man." Daryl said as Sam heard a little growl come from his breath.

She nodded her head to him knowing that he would keep his world and that he would protect her no matter what.

" Heard what ya did today….fer Hershel." Daryl said as he removed his hands from her shoulders and looked at her.

Sam scratched the back of her neck and looked down to the bed, " He just stopped breathing. I wasn't going to lose someone else that I really cared for." Sam said as she slowly looked up at Daryl.

" Well, you did good, he's awake now." Daryl said as Sam's eyes went wide.

" Really?" Sam asked with happiness in her voice.

Daryl nodded his head and Sam had the biggest smile on her face which made him feel happy for her as well as he was marveling over her beauty.

" Sam, will you let me try something?" Daryl asked Sam as he watched her.

" And what would that be?" Sam asked as she looked at him.

" Do you trust me?" Daryl asked her.

Sam nodded her head to him and then he moved closer to her and whispered, " Then close your eyes for me."

Sam shut her eyes waiting for Daryl to do what he was going to do. His heart was pounding in his chest as he leaned in and started to kiss her. Sam kissed back immediately, the kiss deepened as he pulled her to his chest. The feeling he was giving her caused her to moan and that was enough to urge him to move further. He laid her down on the bed as he hovered over her. Letting his tongue slip into her mouth, getting a full taste of her, he started to let his hands roam her body. Sam was in a completely different world, she has never been kissed like this before. She never felt like this before, as she felt his hands roaming her body, she froze in place as Daryl's mouth moved from her mouth and to her neck. Her eyes widened, as an immense pleasure filled her body. She never knew she could feel this good. Then he started to sucking on her lightly which caused her to moan.

" There's the spot." Daryl whispered as he looked back at her.

She sat up and wrapped her hands around him and squeezed him close to her. But once he started to lift up her shirt, she pulled away from him, which made him stop in his tracks.

" Do you want me to stop?" Daryl asked her as he looked at her.

She just looked at him for a while till she felt tears going down her face and she gave him a weak smile as she sat up. She noticed that he started to look worried, thinking that he scared her and pushed her too far. She ran her hand through her hair and looked down to the ground, he looked at her with a questionable look, " Trust me it's not like I don't want this." She said as she looked at him.

" Then what's wrong?" He asked her as he looked at her.

" It's just….It's just that I have never done anything like this before. It will be my first time." She whispered as she looked down to the ground for a little bit and then back at him.

He was in shock with what she just told me, ' This will be her first time? No wonder she stopped me and worried about what she was doing. I mean she isn't the first woman I've been with, but she is one person I do want to be with for the rest of my life.' Daryl thought as he looked at her.

" Also I'm not the most beautiful person with all my scars. I think you would want someone else other than me." Sam said as she looked away from him and Daryl's eyes widened. That's what she was worried about? Not being good enough for him and that he would be better with someone else other than her. He comes closer to her and starts to kiss her shoulder and he kept his eyes on her as she closed her eyes and leaned against him. He stopped what he was doing to watch her body relax and he started to slowly lift her shirt again. This time she didn't stop him and let him remove her shirt and once it was off, he laid her down on the bed and she covered her body and looked away from him. Daryl just looked at her in all of her glory, sure she has scars just like him, but that just made her more beautiful than ever before to him. He kept his eyes on her as he grabbed ahold of her hands and pulled them away from her body and she looked back at him as he continued to look at her. His eyes broke from hers as he looked at her body for the first time and then went back to her eyes. Sam was looking at him nervously as he leaned down and brought his lips to hers again, " You're so beautiful." Daryl whispered to her.

Tears started to fill Sam's eyes and down her face once she heard him say that to her as Daryl leaned towards her again and started to kiss her. For the first time in her whole life, Sam felt beautiful. Sam felt like someone important for once in her life and it was thanks to one man….Daryl Dixon.
