As the run rises over Pallet Town of the Kanto Region and the Dodrio do their regular wake up call, Ash Ketchum alongside with partner Pikachu were still fast asleep in their bedroom despite Ash's alarm clock going off, however Pikachu managed to wake up from the clock's noise but still very tired so as he tried to turn it off and almost wake Ash taps Pikachu on the tap mistaking it for the clock but then he grabs it thinking it's a poke-ball "all right I choose you" Ash said very lazily and even threw it against the wall which ended up braking it. Ash still continued to sleep however Pikachu tried tapping his cheek to wake him up but nothing worked so he resorted to his classic method a good old volt electricity, as Pikachu discharges it's electricity it both fries and electrocutes Ash however he's still fast asleep. Ash still remained asleep however his mother Delia then entered the room not too happy with might I add and remarked "Ash Ketchum are still asleep; You'll be late getting to Professor Oak's lab" Ash was still asleep but then started talking while asleep "no problem mom Professor Oak's lab" his mother then slapped both his cheek bones at the same time which managed to wake him up.
Immediately Ash started panicking while trying to get ready as fast as he could while also accidently crashing into a bunch of stuff "MOM WHY DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP" his mother answered back "because you insisted you could get up on your own". After getting ready Ash and Pikachu immediately came running out the house and all the way to Professor Oak's lab
As Ash arrives at Oak's Laboratory he walks through the door and finds the Professor in the research floor and immediately greets him "Professor Oak" in which he responds "oh it's you Ash" then Ash asks "what did you want to talk to me about", the Professor heads to his draw and pulls out both a ticket and a smartphone "you see Ash I noticed you didn't have a smartphone and lately they're considered very important for travelling trainers like yourself so here take it" he hands Ash the phone and Ash gratefully thanks him "wow thank you Professor" then Professor then explains how it works "you see Ash this has many features such as calling others, video chatting with others, a Pokedex, a data catalogue to review all the Pokémon you've owned, an alarm clock, a camera and a video camera as well" Ash was impressed by all this however he was having some trouble accessing the Pokedex "uhm professor there's no Pokedex feature on here" Professor Oak replied "well that's because we haven't activated it yet, observe" Professor Oak pulls out a poke-ball and releases a Rotom from it and immediately it goes inside Ash's phone and then a small antenna pops out the top and on the back a face appears "woah it turned into the phone" Oak then explains it "may I introduce the Rotom-Phone" Ash is impressed by this "woah it's like Rotom-Dex" and Oak comments "yes but much better, but don't tell him I said that".
Ash was amazed by his new phone however he also noticed the Ticket the Professor had "uhm Professor what's that ticket for exactly" the Professor then explained "I'm glad you asked you see this is a finals ticket for the World Coronation Series" this confused Ash "the world what now" Oak retorted "you see every region had its own league or championship with a champion of course, however at the World Coronation Series they choose thousands of the top trainers from around the world" Ash replied "that is really cool, so any trainer can enter" Oak responded "not just trainers but Gymleaders, Elite Four Members and even Regional Champions can enter and it all takes place in a region known as Galar, I figured I'd let you know about it considering you're the Alolan Champion, plus I didn't want to let the ticket go to waste since I can't make it due to some business let alone Tracy couldn't either since he's gone on his Pokémon Watching tour so I figured I'd give it to you", Ash thanked Professor Oak for this "wow thank you professor I'm going to see the greatest Pokémon battle of all time". Professor Oak also needed Ash to do a special little mission for him "Ash another reason I want you to go is to gather data on a phenomenon known as Gigantamax and Dynamax" Ash questioned "what's that" Oak replied "a battle phenomenon where Pokémon can grow up preposterously huge pupations in stadiums and the wild area however it can only be done in the Galar Region", "Ash was so overwhelming by all this and wanted to immediately head out now "Professor I'll gather all the data you need and witness the greatest Pokémon battle of all time come on Pikachu" Ash and Pikachu head out the door while Oak smiles too himself "he really is just like his father".
Ash and Pikachu run out the doors of the lab and start running back home to tell his mom the good news, Ash felt like this would be the start to a brand-new adventure and a quest unlike any other he had done.
The next day Ash and Pikachu were on a flight to the Galar Region "I just can't wait" Ash said to himself because not only would be get to see the greatest battle of all time but also get the chance to see a brand-new region alongside new Pokémon, just then he heard a beep sound and the plane's flight attendant spoke on the intercom "we have just entered Galar Region airspace" this made Ash feel very happy "all right won't be long now".
Suddenly the lights of the plane immediately turned off which started to concern all the passengers on board and make them feel uneasy, and in the cockpit the Pilots were trying to figure out what had happened "check the electrical" the pilot said to the co-pilot. To maintain order again the flight attendant calmly informed everyone on what to do "everyone please remain calm and remain seated with your seat belts fastened", everyone did as she instructed however Pikachu sensed something outside the plane which Ash tried to see as well "something's out there". Ash and Pikachu couldn't see what was out there but they could feel it, they then noticed red electrical energy flowing by the plane along with what seemed to dark purple spikes flying through the clouds, whatever was out there was starting to make Pikachu fell very uncomfortable and then they got a glimpse of something big flying through the clouds but then it left.
Back in the cockpit all the screens and lights turn back on baffling the pilots "huh, the systems are normal" in which the co-pilot questions "what do you think that was". Very quickly all the lights in the plane turn on making everyone feel ok again, Ash picks up Pikachu to make sure he's alright "Pikachu are you alright" Pikachu reassures him he's fine "that had to have been a Pokémon, really dose get the old blood pumping doesn't it" Pikachu nods "just think of all that mystery, and it's in the Galar Region waiting for us". Pikachu has a feeling that an epic adventure is about to begin the question is when and where it'll happen.
Eventually the plane landed and then Ash and Pikachu took a bus to Wyndon and once arriving he made it clear he was hear "hey there Galar I'm Ash Ketchum and ready for what you through at me". Upon arriving Ash and Pikachu were then looking around trying to find the stadium while looking Pikachu looks up and becomes overwhelmed by something in which Ash notice's his expression "hey Pikachu what's wrong" Pikachu tilts Ash's head up in which Ash becomes surprised at none other than Wyndon Stadium it's self which was bigger than any Pokémon league Stadium he had ever battled at "IT'S HUGE". Ash is so impressed by all this him and Pikachu scurry through the crowd not wanting to miss an event like this.
Eventually they make it into the audience stands and Ash is overwhelmed by all these people "so many people a lot more than I ever imagined". As Ash was getting ready to watch the battle ensue he heard someone say "excuse is this seat taken" he looks up to see a purple haired trainer wearing a blue jacket and had a Pokémon with him similar to a Mareep, Ash responds "oh no please help yourself" in which the trainer thankfully replied "thanks so much", seeing that Pokémon made Ash question what it was so he got out his Rotom-Phone and checked in which it stated "Wooloo: the Sheep Pokémon a normal type, Wooloo's tight curls of fleece provide a cushioning effect, it could fall from a high cliff and not be injured". Ash was amazed by the new Pokémon and couldn't help but feel it's wool "man it's so soft" the trainer replied, "I know it's kinda like holding a cloud".
The trainer then properly introduced himself "my name's Hop by the way what's yours" Ash replies, "I'm Ash", after hearing that name Hop realised who he was "wait a minute your Ash Ketchum the Alolan Champion" Ash giggles "you know it" Hop couldn't believe he was sitting next to a regional champion "I can't believe I'm meeting you, although no offence but your nowhere even close to being as powerful as my big bro the Grand Monarch". Ash got a little confused by what Hop had said and questioned him "what's the Grand Monarch" Hop became shocked hearing what Ash said "you don't know anything about the World Coronation Series do you, well the winner of it all is named the Grand Monarch and my big bro is the undefeated champion, that is until I beat him" Ash responds "wow that's so cool are you going to enter the next one" Hop replies "Nah I'm little busy doing some research tasks for the Galar Region's Pokémon Professor and my big bro's friend", Ash understood what Hop was doing and sympathised "I'm in a similar boat, you see back in the Kanto Region Professor Oak asked me to come here and gather data on new phenomenon called Dynamax and Gigantamax" Hop chuckles "well then I believe your questions will be answered soon".
All the lights turn off and then at the centre of the battlefield yellow beacons burst out of the middle and then a light show starts happening, next an announcer started speaking "welcome everyone it's the moment you've all been waiting for, we're here to witness the world's largest, world's greatest Pokémon battle to determine the world's greatest trainer, so welcome to the world coronation series" immediately the crowd starts cheering and fireworks are shot and the announcer continues "so how did we get here, the Masters 8 the top trainers ranked by the Pokémon Battle Commission have entered this competition of high-stakes battling so that they may vie for the much coveted title of Monarch, but who may wonder are our two finalists". One side of the battlefield a spotlight shining on none other Lance in which the announcer gave his introduction "first up I introduce to you Lance", the crowd goes wild when seeing him and even Ash was surprised "all right it's Lance" and Hop replies "must be representing the Kanto Region", as Lance continues to walk up to the battlefield the announcer makes a statement about him "one of Kanto's Elite Four and winner of the prestigious Elite Four Cup, Lance then went on to emerge victorious in the Pokémon World Tournament in Driftveil City, Lance shows his attacks skills as a member of the Pokémon G-Men, his use of Dragon Type Pokémon has been described as battling art, a world class trainer with world class Pokémon". Back in the stands Hop was anxiously awaiting and Ash took notice "uhm Hop are you okay" he responds, "just you wait my big bro is about to show up", on the other side of the battlefield a man with a king's cloak and black hat was approaching the field then the announcer made his statement "now I am pleased to introduce our other finalist, it's Leon" the crowd immediate goes wild and beyond loud "born and raised right here in Galar and known for winning the Galar Champion Cup on his very first try in battles that weren't even close, one of has never tasted defeat a trainer who takes on any challengers, even once taking on a hundred challengers from throughout the world and beating every single one of them, the king of the kingdom, the superstar of Galar, the undefeated champion, Leon". All the lights in the whole stadium light up again "and now Lance and Leon have taken their positions on the battlefield" the announcer states, Ash remarks "that's your brother" and Hop retorts "the one and only undefeated champ, okay won't be long now".
The referee riding on a Aegislash flies down to start of the battle "we will now begin the final match of the World Coronation Series will both trainers come forth" Lance and Leon both take their starting positions so the ref then states the rules "this battle will be a single match, a trainer wins the opposing trainer's Pokémon cannot continue", Lance tells Leon "I've seen your previous battles I can tell you're a trainer with considerable skill, that's why I imagined that you'd be the one to eventually join me here" and Leon retorts ""are you able to feel it Lance to witness the still tense air on the pitch, the opposite from the audience cheering and yelling, both fantastic would you say" Lance chuckles in agreement and Leon continues "but remember the audience is also a bit cruel they want nothing more than for one of us to lose after all, but I love pushing past the fear I love giving it everything I've got as a trainer it's the greatest feeling and I can't get enough of it" Lance smirkily says "hmm you think you've already won" and Leon explains "the reason I'm unbeatable is because I learn from every battle I see or take part in, and today I'll learn from my victory". In the audience Ash smiles a little confused like while Hop laughs a little embarrassed like stating "yeah he can be a little talkative". Lance responds, "there's no need for words now, we will battle to determine who is stronger" Lance holds out his poke-ball ready to battle. The referee orders for them to send out their Pokémon "please bring out your Pokémon", Leon tosses his poke-ball in the air and releases a Charizard who lets out a loud roar while Lance sends out his shiny red Gyarados who lets out an even louder roar. In the audience Ash is happy to see Gyarados again "man it feels like a long time since I helped Lance catch that thing" Hop became surprised when he heard that "YOU HELPED CATCH THAT GYARADOS". The crowd witnesses the Pokémon the announcer states, "It's Leon's undefeated ace Pokémon Charizard and evolved from a gold Magikarp Lance's Red Gyarados", the referee flies down to start things off "battle begin" Lance announces, "THE TIME HAS COME" and Leon responds, "INDEED LET'S HAVE A CHAMPION TIME".
Charizard let's off a powerful Flamethrower and Gyarados tries to counter it with a Hyper Beam so strong it actually pushed the big guy back a little, when both moves collide their locked on to each other and create a giant smoke cloud which makes the ref get out the way however Ash was confused by the glowing red hexagon pattern "hey Hop was that glowing red thing" Hop answers "oh well you see in the Galar Region in giant sized stadiums we have barriers which protects the crowd from debris caused by Pokémon moves, trust me you'll see why we really have them". As Charizard and Gyarados continue to fire off their moves Gyarados' Hyper Beam overpowers Charizard's Flamethrower but Charizard dodges it however as he still continues to evade it the Gyarados still tries to aim his Hyper beam at him but fails to land a hit, Leon can't help but compliment Gyarados' Stamina "I must say Gyarados it seems you're just as strong as I suspected". Charizard readies an Air Slash and flies in close but Gyarados slams his tail onto the ground forcing the debris to rise up and block the Air Slash, Charizard fires on another Flamethrower however Lance has Gyarados strengthen it's self with a Dragon Dance although the Flamethrower still scores a direct hit even though Gyarados gets in close and strikes Charizard onto the ground with an Aqua Tail. Ash is surprised by that attack "that's some power I'll give them that" and Hop points out "even if Gyarados is hit with a Flamethrower it won't be that effective, so it took the attack and that increased its own speed and power". Charizard manages to get up however Gyarados follows up while slithering around Charizard and striking with multiple Ice Fang attacks, Charizard manages to get out of there and then engulfs Gyarados in flames from a Fire Spin although Gyarados extinguishes the flame with an Aqua Tail. Gyarados slithers in ready with another Ice Fang however Charizard was ready for him and releases a Thunder Punch, Ash is taken aback by this "that's an Electric Type move" and Hop remarks "that's Leon for you always knows how to make the best of a type disadvantage" Charizard delivers the Thunder punch right on top of Gyarados' head which strikes him down and readies more Thunder Punches and however Gyarados counters these attacks with many Aqua Tail attacks, both moves manage to knock both Pokémon away from each other.
Leon announces "this battle isn't over yet, I forbid it" he had Charizard return to its poke-ball and Lance replies "yes I couldn't agree with you more" he dose the same with Gyarados, Lance holds out his arm and reveals a white wristband which makes his poke-ball grow bigger and pink. Ash surprised by this and questions what's going on "how did Lance do that and what is he doing" Hop smiles and replies "Ash, this would be the whole reason you came here", Lance throws the giant poke-ball in which purplish red clouds form over the stadium and as Gyarados is released from it's poke-ball it grows bigger and bigger in which the announcer calls out "there it is Dynamax Gyarados", Ash remarks "so Dynamax really does make a Pokémon turn giant" Hop adds on "and that would be the reason for the protective barrier oh but trust me Ash this is just the tip of the ice burg wait till you see what my bro's got in store". Leon does the same with his poke-ball however when he releases Charizard it not only turns giant but also has fire constantly bursting out of it's mouth and shoulders and once fully grown the announcer again states "it's Gigantamax Charizard", Ash was surprised by its appearance and asked Hop what this was about "uhm Hop" Hop tells Ash "and this would be Gigantamax it's basically like combing Dynamax and Mega Evolution but only occurs in certain Pokémon like Charizard in which they can also use a special move only their species can use" the announcer once again talks "this has gone from a normal Pokémon battle to a super powered Dynamax extravaganza". Gyarados aims a powerful Max-Geyser straight at Charizard while he releases a Max-Lighting and strikes it straight on top of Gyarados before the Max-Geyser hits Charizard in which it does some severe damage to Gyarados in which Leon states "Aiming for super effective hits is the way to victory", Gyarados uses Max-Strike by crashing his tail into the ground and sending it Charizard's way but Charizard flew into the air dodging the attack and delivered a direct Max-Airstream attack. Ash was so baffled by all these new moves "what are these new moves this makes no sense but is really cool" Hop chuckled "when a Pokémon becomes supersized it gains new moves which correspond with the typing on the moves it already knows so since Charizard knows Thunder Punch it knows an Electric Type Max Move" Ash became very impressed by all this "that is so cool" but Hop wasn't finished yet "just you wait still you see Charizard's special new power". Charizard releases a beyond powerful G-Max Wildfire and but Gyarados protected itself with Max-Guard, Leon announces "get ready for the last act" just then the flaming dragon from G-Max Wildfire hadn't been destroyed and continued flying and then repetitively kept hitting Gyarados causing him to transform back to normal size and as the smoke clear Gyarados was knocked out hard. The referee flies down and announces "Gyarados is unable to battle so the winner of this match is Leon".
The crowd cheers and lets off a thunderous roar of applaud while the announcer says, "and Leon pulls out a stunning victory" while the crowd keeps cheering Ash is baffled by the fact that Lance one of the most powerful trainers he knew could have lost "now who would've thought Lance could've lost" in which Hop tells him "welcome to the World Coronation Series Ash a tournament where only the truly strongest will make it to the top". As Charizard reverted back to normal Leon congratulated his partner "Charizard you did very well so now you and I are true World Monarchs" they high five and Charizard shoots fire into the sky in victory.
Ash was both surprised and impressed by the sheer intensity of the battle and was almost left speechless "that was awesome, your brother is truly something else…" Ash pauses for a second realising Professor Oak needed him to gather data on the battle in which he hadn't "OH NO I FORGOT TO TAKE DATA ON THE…" he then noticed Pikachu holding the Rotom-Phone and had recorded the entire match "oh thanks Pikachu you're a life saver", "hey Ash I'm meeting up with my brother in a bit wanna come" Hop asked and Ash replied "absolutely". Back on the battlefield Lance still praised Gyarados' efforts "You were amazing, now get plenty of rest" after putting Gyarados back in it's poke-ball he was approached by Leon and said "I guess it's over" he shakes the winner's hand while Leon congratulated him "that Dynamaxing was amazing" Lance replied "I recently journeyed through the Galar Region and trained at the Dragon Gym, wearing that historic uniform left a deep and lasting impression on me which is why I wear what I wear now" Leon responds "I'd say this is a proud moment for them too", Lance right now had strange feeling within him right now "it's a strange feeling I'm not angry I lost, in fact I'm happy that I witnessed the rise of a great new Monarch" Leon thanks Lance for what he has done "thank you Lance it was a tremendous battle". They put their hands in the air in victory and lance exclaims "here today we've witnessed the rise of the greatest Monarch in the world, if a trainer has a strong and outstanding nature their Pokémon will respond and that's how a trainer grows strong with their Pokémon, as strong as Leon and Charizard" Lance's speech made the stadium mumble in agreement and the announcer stated "now once again presenting the winner of the World Coronation Series, crowned the strongest in the world the monarch Leon" Leon does his signature power pose while the crowd chants and goes crazy. Hop tells Ash "no one in the world can beat my brother, but if there is I'll be the one to beat him first" and Ash retorts "sorry Hop but if he's the strongest trainer in the world then I have to both battle and beat him" Hop smiles and shakes Ash's hand "then may the best trainer win, alright come on let's go meet him…".
Just then out of nowhere the entire stadium starts to shake causing everyone to panic, then towards the battlefield entrance a large Pokémon's head with a yellow horn and bleeding red eyes starts braking it's head through causing panic the announcer then informs everyone "what's going on here a Gigantamax Drednaw and it's on a rampage". Ash grabs Pikachu on his shoulder and gets ready to do something "I have to do something" Hop then grabs Wooloo and goes with "I'll come too".
