Tela Vasir didn't get nervous very often, a side effect of her carrier choice. Not to be a Spectre, to be a double agent, a mole, a spy. Personally, she preferred to call herself pragmatic. She works for the council first and foremost, she's stopped major terrorist activates, saved thousands of lives, uncovered corrupt politicians, the works. The reason she was able to do these things is because she had an advantage no-one knew about. She works part time with the Shadow Broker, one of the most influential people in the whole galaxy, said to have enough information to start a galaxy wide war.
The reason she works with them is mainly due to the mutual beneficial partnership they share. The broker gives her info for her to do her job and in return she does the odd job for them every now and again, not the worst deal she's taken. The only times she has trouble is when the jobs clash against each other and she has to carefully talk her way out, that was also one of the few times she gets nervous.
Now is one of those other times, she was calmly sitting down on a bench in a park, one of the few on the outskirts of the city. There were a handful of people milling about minding their own business not having any idea that the most powerful being in the galaxy is about walk on by. Thankfully she wasn't here to force anything; she may be loyal to the council but that didn't make her suicidal, when she got her mission, she thanked the goddess that she would simply be playing the role of messenger.
When she glanced over her shoulder, it took all her training and experience not to jump in shock. The small bench she was sitting on held a new occupant, there is was. Clark Kent, Kal-El, the Superman, sitting down next to her like he didn't even know her, he was wearing the same thing he was when she last saw him. Dark trousers, trainers, a long black coat and T-shirt "I'm on a timetable" he said calmly before he looked over towards her.
She looked him up and down before taking a breath "I've been sent to give you a message from the council" she started opening her Omni-tool and sent the message over to his own "this is a formal invitation to the Citadel to meet with the council. We know that it can't be forced but it would go a long way to help better the relations between yourself and Citadel space" she added calmly.
"Is that so?" Clark asked as he looked at the details of the invitation, after a moment he looked back to the Spectre "is that all?" he said back calmly. He didn't want to be rude but he had a lot of other stuff he needed to do, and he was on a timetable.
"officially" she said back as they both stood up, ready to depart "unofficially, if you could give me something to give back to the council, it could go a long way to put their minds at ease" she added.
He looked back at her for a moment, thinking about all the different things he could say. In the end he decided that being honest would most likely be the best thing to do was be honest "I've been approached by Cerebrus to investigate Commander Shepards claims on the Reapers" he added.
Tela's face did its best to not show her emotions but for Clark, she may as well not have tried. It was mix between curiosity, nervousness and horror "I...I see" she stuttered "is there any truth to these claims?" she asked.
Clark held a small look of sympathy; it was no surprise that she must have been terrified "yes" he spoke firmly trying not to listen to her rapid heartbeat "I don't know when, but they're coming" he took a step towards her and she seemed frozen in place "if you want to give the council a message, give them that one" when he finished speaking, there was a gust of wind and he was gone.
Tali's eyes widened even further as she looked through microscope "where did you say you found this again?" she asked the others in the room.
"In the vault of a crime lord" the casual tone of Kasumi spoke as she sat on the edge of the table with her legs swinging "Clark already had a look at them, but I thought you would want to see them for yourself"
"You were right, Keelah" she spoke in awe "I never would have thought I would see such as well-preserved relic of the home world"
"Indeed, very surprised myself, couldn't help but run tests" Mordin said as he stood near the two "didn't find much you yourself wouldn't, EDI helped run tests. Found it to be over seven thousand years old"
Tali was very careful not to curse at him, needless to say that when she found out about the AI her reaction was not the best. The only thing that stopped her going into the core where a grenade was the fact that she knew Kent would never allow it and the fact that the others like Garrus and Ashely said it wasn't too bad, it wasn't until Joker told her that it was bound by protocols and didn't have complete free will, that she started to calm down.
"This would make a great gift for my people" she added pulling away from the microscope and looking at the thief "I'm sure you'll be compensated for giving it to us"
Kasumi gave her small smile at her words "isn't that just what every thief wants to hear" she sighed dramatically "sadly I can't do that" he added as she hopped off the table "thief's honour, Clark was the one who took them she they're his to give. Though you should be fine, I think he mentioned that he would give them away once he was done. Either to you or someone on their pilgrimage next time he finds one" she explained.
She couldn't really argue with that, whoever he meets on the pilgrimage is going to very lucky. Before she could respond the doors to the lab opened and Garrus walked in "Tali, are you ready?" he asked.
Turning around she faced her old friend "yeah, let's go" she said heading to the door before turning around and facing the others "thank you for the help and letting me know about the tablets" she said sincerely.
"anytime" Mordin spoke quickly "happy to help crew mates"
"Where are you guys going anyway?" Kasumi asked casually.
"An old friend works in the city" Garrus answered "Liara T'soni, she was a part of the original Normandy crew so me, Tali, Ashely and Joker are all meeting up with her in a bar for a drink. Catch up and all that while we have some shore leave" he explained.
"Sounds like fun" Kasumi commented "speaking of shore leave, I think I'll make use of some time I have and do a little... shopping" she added with a mischievous grin.
"indeed" Mordin nodded as Garrus and Tali made their way out "planning on doing more tests on Collector tissue, close to a breakthrough" he smiled.
"Apologies for the interruption" EDI said through the com "but the captain has requested both of you to accompany him on a new recruitment mission"
Kasumi placed her hands on her hips and let out a sigh "just when I think I'll get some time off"
Clark walked calmly with Mordin and Kasumi at his sides as they made their way towards the officer's department of the trade centre. Not knowing where Samara is exactly, they needed to find the location she went to, though knowing her she was after a criminal and scarring the shit out of everyone who she came across.
Thankfully they didn't need to start a search from complete scratch, thanks to EDI hacking into some local files and finding that Samara recently came through the department before getting a car somewhere else, though they didn't know where. Which is what led them to where they are now "So Mordin" Kasumi said turning to face the doctor as they walked "have you ever met a Justicar?" she asked.
"No, never had the pleasure" he quickly denied "Justiciar's work on their own, very rare to see one, stay away from others if they can help it"
"What makes them so special?" she quickly followed as they entered the department office.
"they're a special branch of government" he started to explain "You would be accurate to compare them to spectres. Operate largely independently from others, given full autonomy to complete missions as they see fit. In fact, it's not kept secret that Justicars have a competitive rivalry with Spectres. They work against each other more often not"
Clark gave a hum and a nod "to be fair the Justicars don't make it easy to work with them" he spoke "their attitude towards their code is ridicules, they make the craziest of religious fanatics seem normal"
"You're kidding" Kasumi said "and I take it you have experience with that type of people" she added.
He couldn't help but let out a chuckle at that "you have no idea"
All other conversation stopped when they reached an officer's desk "can I help you with something?" the woman said looking up from her terminal.
He looked down to the desk and saw a nameplate "yes, officer Dara. I'm looking for a Asari Justicar named Samara" he added with a smile.
Dara's eyes quickly widened "wait. Why?" she stood up "do you have a problem, or... did she kill somebody already?"
He gave her a shrug "knowing her, probably but I just need to talk to her"
"By the goddess" she swore "did you find a body? Wait, you're just looking for her?"
He nodded "yes, and I haven't found any bodies... yet" he added.
She let out a massive sigh "Good. Samara's the first Justicar I've seen on Illium, if I'm lucky, things will stay peaceful. She went to the commercial spaceport a few hours ago. If you want to get there, the pedestal on that balcony will summon a cab" she gestured to a terminal that reminded him of an old ATM machine "Just be polite when you meet her Justicars embody our highest laws, and they usually stay in Asari space. She's not used to dealing with aliens" Dara warned.
Clark acutely did let out a chuckle at hearing that "trust me, she's got experience with aliens. Thanks for the help" he added before turning around and heading away.
"Ok spill" Kasumi the second they were out of ear shot "how do you know this woman?" she asked with a smirk on her face "some saucy past you're not telling us about?" she added one with a wiggle of the eyebrows.
Clark looked over towards her and gave an amused smirk "I wouldn't call it saucy, but we do have history" he informed as they reached the terminal.
"History" Mordin was quick to start talking "friendly, antagonistic, sexual? Very confused, was led to believe Justicars turn away from all attachments when they swore an oath to their code?"
He was about answer the question but was stopped by a small laugh that came from Kasumi "wait... I get it, so Justicars are like Asari Jedi" she answered with a smile.
Clark didn't chuckle at her words but actually let out a laugh instead as he pushed the button on the terminal that called the taxi "I said the exact same thing when I met her, which led to me telling her about Star Wars. That was a fun conversation" he said before the cap lowered and they all got in.
The music wasn't the loudest, Garrus noted as he walked into the small bar with Tali and Ashely. Not unexpected to be honest, this wasn't a club it was just a bar. It had a nice casual atmosphere, lots of tables, lots of people, lots of drink and conversation going around. While he was looking around Tali nudged him in the side and nodded to the far corner, it looked like a VIP area. What really got his attention was the sight of Liara sitting at a table sharing a laugh with Joker, who seemed to have beaten them all there and was already having a drink "someone's eager" Ash joked as they all walked forward.
When they got closer, a Krogan bouncer quickly stepped in their way "halt!" he warned "no-one goes through who isn't on the list"
Garrus stepped forward "it's ok, we're here to meet with Liara T'soni"
"It doesn't say so on the list" the Krogan growled as he looked up from the data-pad.
"oh" Tali pouted walking forward a little "can you just check again?" she asked quietly, that seemed to work well enough "LIARA!" she shouted the second the head of krogan went down.
Before the Krogan could try and yell at her. Liara and Joker both looked away from each other and towards the group, when she saw them, Liara stood up and took a couple of steps towards them "it's ok Gong" she said "you can let them up"
The Krogan, Gong. Gave them a nod before stepping aside and allowing them to walk up the steps. When they got closer, Liara gave them all a hug though Ashely's was a lot briefer than the others "come on guys, sit down" she ushered the others forward and each of them took a seat.
"Good thing I've got other drinks incoming" Joker smiled as he took another sip of his own.
"I hope you haven't gotten too far gone already?" Ashely smirked as he down next to him.
"Come on, what do you take me for?" he leaned back in his chair and spread his arms in 'what are you gonna do?' gesture "this ain't my first drink"
The group talked to each other for a couple of minutes before the next round of drinks arrived. When they each got their cups, before anyone could take a sip. Garrus stood up "I would like to make a... what do you humans call it? A toast? I would like to make a toast" the others all looked at him "even though we're all here now, we wouldn't be here without others but there is one man in particular that I would like to mention" everyone's mood seemed too somber at his words and knowing where this was going "so, here's the John Shepard. Even though he's no longer here, looking at us from the realm of spirits. We're here, carrying on the fight, your fight. Here's to you Shepard" he raised his hand and all others followed suit.
Once everyone took their drink, Joker could help but start talking "I gotta admit, I think it's safe to say Shepard would be very proud. I mean look at us, we're working with fucking Superman. How amazing is that?" he asked.
"I'm still having trouble believing it" Liara mused as she took another sip "I mean I knew he was alive, but I never would have thought I'd see him with my own eyes"
"You should have seen him on Horizen" Ashely spoke "He just... melted that ship like it was nothing. It's insane, I'm starting to think we have a chance against the Reapers now"
Liara put her hand against her head and let out a sigh "I'm still trying to rap my head around the political ramifications of what him coming back means"
"what's been happening away?" Tali said as she inserted the straw into her suit "all we have is the news but what's really been happening?" she asked.
The Asari looked at her friend before thinking about what to say "well, the humans and the Alliance have never been happier"
"Not surprising" Ashley muttered.
"The Hierarchy are the worried about their standing, they don't like the idea of there being an alien being so powerful, no doubt they're trying to find a weapon that could work against him" Garrus couldn't help but agree with her, it sounded like his people "the Asari, well they're getting nervous. There's no telling how much pull Mr. Kent will have from a political and negational standpoint. If he wanted something from us, there's no telling what he could offer in return and that's forgetting that he could probably just take it anyway" she explained while the others listened with rapt attention "the Salarian's seem to be the most... excited about his return"
"Excited" Tali asked leaning back in her chair "not what I would have expected" she mused.
"I know, I was surprised as well" Liara smiled back "but it seems they're just happy to be able to talk about him more openly, they keep on speaking about all they could learn from him. Though I'm not sure just what they're talking about, technology or biology"
"Both" Garrus and Ashley both said at the same time, after both saying that, they looked at each before raising their glasses and clicking them together before taking a drink.
"You'll have a better idea about the Quarian's then me" she looked over to Tali and soon all others turned to face her as well.
She gave them a shrug "I don't really have a lot of... what's the word you use? Clout? I don't have a lot of clout, so what the admiralty board is planning is something I won't know" she explained as she took another drink before crossing her arms "but there's no way they're not scheming in one way or another. My money is on them trying to use him to wipe out the Geth"
"Which he won't do" Joker was quick to interrupt "he's made pretty clear like nine times that he doesn't want to involve himself in politics. Which is crazy" he laughed "he has to be the most uninvolved involved person ever... of all time"
Everyone had a small laugh at that before Liara continued "The Krogan, Elcor, Drell, Hanar and Volus don't really care one way or another. I'm sure they all have plans and pitches they want to give him, but they're small fray compared to the others. The Batarians on the other hand, well they're the most worrying" she had a small hint of concern in her voice.
"What do you mean?" Ashely asked leaning forward with a small frown on her face.
"Ever since they've heard the confirmation, they've been shoring up their defences, increasing recruitment, developing new weapons, ships, bombs, everything" her voice was hard, and everyone was watching with concerned faces "it's like they're getting ready for a full-scale invasion" she added.
"What?" Joker asked with a forced laugh "they think cause Superman's back we're just gonna start attacking them. That's stupid"
"Not really" Ashely was quick to say back "the Alliance has been looking for a reason to attack the Batarians for years" she informed, and she wasn't wrong. It wasn't a secret that ever since Batarian pirates have started to raid human colonies for slaves, the Alliance has been gunning hard for military action to be taken against, but the council always stone walled them, it really didn't help that ties were found between the pirates and the Batarian government.
"Ok, that's enough" Joker said getting everyone's attention "come on, this is the first time we've all been together in a long time. We don't need to talk about work. Liara, how do you start out here, I thought you still loved ruins?" he asked, and everyone seemed to like the change in conversation and soon enough. They were just a group of friends catching up after a long while apart.
When the trio made it to their destination, there was no doubt in Clarks mind that Samara was here somewhere, the place was a mess. A Volus looked like he was having an argument with some Asari detective. A section of the port was closed off with that holographic tape "well, now we know she's been here" he mused as the three stepped out of the sky car and started to head towards the building which from what he could hear, was a type of police station.
"Don't you want go after her" Kasumi said as she pointed towards the crime scene.
Mordin mused "Most likely not be allowed in, have no special clearance. Need permission first" he listed.
"Got it in one Doctor" Clark nodded as they stepped inside and made his way to a detective.
Looking up from her terminal, she gave a quick glance at them before speaking "Nice guns" she said looking at Mordin and Kasumi "not the biggest but still capable of turning my day to shit with more reports to fill out. What can I do for you?" she asked calmly.
Clark gave her a smile before sitting down in front of her "I hear you're having a little Justicar problem. I'd like to help you get rid of her"
The woman leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms, though it was clear to Clark that even though she was trying to resist it, she caught a sense of his aura. Slowly but surely being drawn to him "If you've got a score to settle with Samara, take it somewhere else" she warned "I've got more than enough trouble already, I don't want to have to explain to my spurious why a group wanted to start a fight with her"
"There won't be a fight..." Clark offered; he opened his mouth to speak again before stopping "there won't be a long fight" he corrected "I'd like to recruit her for a mission, she won't be able to ignore it. Her code won't let her. Then we'll be on our way" he offered.
The detective seemed to consider this "Justicars usually work alone, but they are drawn to impossible causes"
Kasumi hummed "no problem there then" she said.
Mordin quickly nodded beside her "indeed, galactic extinction. Considered difficult"
The Asari sighed before leaning forward "if you can get her out of my district, I'll get you to her ASAP. She's at the crime scene"
Clark smiled before standing up "thank you, and don't worry. We won't leave a mess" with that he turned and made his way out, the others following closely behind him.
Though they didn't make it far before Kasumi broke the silence "So, her code won't let her turn you down? How does that work?" she asked.
"Even though the past I have with Samara isn't the best" he spoke as they walked past the police barricade "when we tell her the truth, that her entire race is at risk. The code that she follows must has something within that makes it, so she must ignore any other mission she has. " he explained.
"Maybe not" Mordin spoke "code it not well known, and according to rumour, different for each Justicar. Though must follow a base line to worked on by individual later" he added in a warning tone.
The three turned a corner and went into the silver-coloured corridors of the building "very true" Clark agreed "and I'm hoping within the base line is something we can use against her"
Before anyone else could say something, the sound of another voice hit not just Clarks ears but everyone's "Get the rest of Bravo squad propped. Alpha squad went after that justicar 20 minutes ago and now they've gone dark"
Mordin and Kasumi both drew their weapons and got themselves ready for a fight while Clark just looked on calmly, when they peaked around another corner, they saw a group of the Eclipse. Clark being the calm person he was, he just walked forward, the other two staying closer behind him like they were using him as cover. To be fair it wasn't the worst idea, he was a lot tougher than anything else around.
It wasn't too many, just a group of four. The only one wasn't wearing a helmet had that popular holographic armour, it didn't take long for them to be spotted "Hey!" the one without the helmet, seemed to be the one in charge yelled "stop right there" she and the three others turned and raised their weapons.
Knowing that there really wasn't much point to talking with them, Clark moved and within the blink of an eye. He was standing in the middle of the group who all flew over as if they tripped but if you took a closer look, you would see the dents in the back of their helmets and for the one who wasn't wearing one, a really big bruise.
"Never gonna get tired of seeing that" Kasumi mused as she a Mordin walked forward.
Deciding it was best not to answer that one, he just kept walking and soon made it to a warded off door. But the trio walked forward, but when the door opened. Not even Clark expected what happened next.
"AAAHHH!" a woman screamed, and Clark was hit in the face by the body of an Eclipse merc. Her back bent around his face and she fell to the ground in a heap "I should have seen that coming" he said to himself but that didn't stop the others from hearing.
Though before either of the talkiest members of the crew could answer. Another voice seemed to beat them to it "those where my best troops"
They all looked up and could see an elevated balcony that seemed to have a glass wall, there they saw the back of another merc "tell me what I need to know, and I will be gone from here" another much calmer voice said, and Clark couldn't help but smile as they started to walk forward, the others did hear Samara speak but they could hear the other louder and much more panicked voice spoke "where did you send her?"
"You think I'd betray her? She would hurt me in ways you can't imagine" she was definitely getting much more panicked, and they were close enough to hear both now, at least for Mordin and Kasumi.
"The name of the ship. Your life hangs on the answer Lieutenant" the warning was very clear.
"You can kill me, but one of us will take you down Justicar" she snarled the fear being replaced by anger.
Clark turned as Kasumi tapped his shoulder "should we get involved in this?" she asked curiously.
He opened his mouth to answer but was stopped by the sound of shattering glass behind him. Very calmly turning around he wasn't surprised to see the merc on her back trying to crawl away with Samara walking calmly towards her, when she reached her target. She stepped on the mercs neck, pinning her to the ground "what was the name of the ship she left on?" she asked again, in that very calm voice she had.
Clark gave his head a small tilt as he looked at her, the clothes where new but that figure hadn't changed a bit "go to hell" the merc said and he had a small look of sympathy for her, knowing all too well what was coming next.
"Find peace in the embrace of the goddess" was the last thing Samara said before twisting her foot and the mercs neck along with it, a snap quickly echoed around the room.
That was when Clark choose to take a couple of steps forward, when he did Samara's head snapped to his direction. He really did try his best not to take too close a look but it seemed he failed, when he looked, he noticed a couple of things. Her heartbeat almost completely stopping, her pupils dilating, lungs completely freezing, the skin follicles vibrating, a wave of biotic energy surging through her.
Here it comes.
Before Mordin and Kasumi could do anything, a large container found itself flying in Clark's direction and it smashed into him with a force and was soon followed by a large explosion, the force of it was enough to knock both of them over.
Samara was able to stay up due to her biotic energy keeping her in place, but her neutral face frowned when she saw that Clark stood calmly looking at her. The smoke falling to the ground around him "look, I just want to talk" he added.
"I told you what I would do if I ever saw you again" the Justicar said with narrowed eyes as she started to walk around him, Clark knowing that he needed to make the point, just stood there and let her "you cannot be allowed to live, the code demands it"
He had to resist the urge to roll his eyes at her. This, this was the one thing he always hated about her "and you know there's nothing you can do about it" when he turned around, he saw that she stood in front of Mordin and Kasumi, who were both picking themselves up, albeit slowly.
"You underestimate me" the glow of biotic energy surged around her "I have been preparing for this moment, just in case I found you. I'm sorry Clark" her eyes softened slightly "but the code is absolute, you must die" she raised her hands towards him.
He could see biotic energy concentrating around his head, when he concentrated, he could feel it "oh I see" he said "you're trying to use your biotic energy to effect my brain, impressive" he added and to be fair it was, the level of concentration needed in order to do something like that is very good.
"When you said you have history" Kasumi spoke as she looked around Samara's shoulder "I thought you meant something along the lines of a bad break up. Not her wanting to kill you" from the way she looked over towards him, Samara and Mordin, she really didn't know what to do.
The former STG on the other hand had no such problems, even though Clark could make an educated guess on what Mordin thought what Samara was doing to him, or whether it was working. Clark had to give him credit, he didn't hesitate to reach for his weapon and aim it at the Justicar "Hold respect for your organization" he announced "but cannot allow you to harm him, as of this moment he is the best hope the galaxy has"
"Thanks Mordin" Clark smiled as he took a step forward, much the chagrin of Samara who had began to sweat from the effort she was putting forward "but we still need her" without another word he quickly raised his hand and slapped it sideways. The Justicar stood no chance as she was soon blasted across the room from the impact, the only thing that saved her body from completely breaking was her own biotic power acting as a type of shield. Though it still probably really hurt based on the dent in the metal wall. The Justicar let out a pain moan as she slid to the ground, still conscious but frowning in pain. It wasn't too bad, no broken bones from what he could see.
"Samara" he spoke calmly walking forward towards her as she tried to pick herself up off the ground "is there something in the code that says when a danger is big enough you have to ignore other missions?" he asked as he stopped near her and kneeled down as she sat up against the wall.
And he did want to know this, sure he looked up the Justicar code, but it was surprisingly classified, yeah, he could get through it with enough time but he never cared that much about it "that... may not have worked" she spoke though he could tell it took a great deal of pain in order to do it "but I will not stop, the code must be fulfilled, you must die" she argued starting to push herself up.
It took a lot of effort on his part to not roll his eyes at her, in a way he respected her commitment to the code but in another he hated that she would so willingly give up her free will to follow something like it "the Reapers are real" he suddenly said.
She froze.
That was the reaction he was hoping for. If there was one thing he knew about Samara it was her dedication to the code and at the end of the day, what was that code but a way to protect the Asari people? It was because of that he knew that when news reached her about the attack on the citadel, she would have done her research, she would have found out what the official story was and what the council didn't want the public to know. She would have found out what Shepard had claimed, even if she didn't believe herself. Clark was a much more reliable source of information and him being here, him saying it would be enough for her.
She continued to take deep breaths, her eyes drifting to the ground as she lost herself in thought. Clark couldn't really blame her, the truth of the Reapers being real would be enough for anyone's brain to shut down for a moment. When she finally did look up, she starred right into his eyes "Are. You. Sure?" she asked with a firm tone.
Clark didn't have an emotion of triumph or satisfaction at her question, instead it held one calmness though if you looked closely you could see the concern in his eyes "based on everything I've found, there is a ninety-seven percent chance of them being real and on their way here" he informed her.
She looked down to the ground and took another couple of deep breaths "if that is true, then why are you here?" she asked standing up straight.
"For you" he answered "I'm going to get proof of the Reapers existence, I'm building a crew full of different members from different species that each have a loud voice when it comes to government" he informed her "I'd like you to come with me and see this for yourself. Tell the rest of the Justicars, have the send word to the Emperess" he explained.
"Something the council cannot ignore" Mordin stepped forward putting his weapon away "their own leaders. Sneaky, clever, manipulative"
Clark didn't say anything back to him but just kept starring back at Samara "your people need you" he stood up and took a step back.
The Justiciar took a moment before she slowly nodded "if the threat the Reapers pose is real then the code permits that I can ignore other threats until they are delt with" standing up straight she seemed to be able to ignore the pain she must still be feeling "but I cannot leave yet, my purpose here is important, I cannot ignore it"
Clark crossed his arms before nodding, he wasn't expecting this, but it shouldn't be too hard to deal with "I wish you were willing to go with the man Justicar" a voice said from behind the, turning around Clark saw the detective. Anaya, walk towards them though when she reached Clark and Samara she turned to face him "who I have only just realized isn't a regular man" she gave Clark a cautious nod "it's an honour to meet you officially" though before Clark could answer back, she turned back to Samara "Justicar. I've been ordered to take you into custody if you won't leave"
"She'll leave" Clark was quick to answer before Samara could interject "but before she does, she'll tell me what she needs, and I'll handle it" Samara turned to look at him when he said this.
Anaya looked over to Clark before turning back to Samara "is that right?" she asked.
Samara didn't say anything, just looked Clark in the eye. Now that she has made it clear that the code permits her to let go of goal of killing him until the Reapers are delt with, there relationship can go a lot better than it was a few minutes ago. It may not be what it was years ago and that was most likely for the best all things considered "If Clark gives his word to complete the mission I was here for, then I will leave with his crew mates" she nodded and Clark was grateful that she trusted him with this.
"Shall we" he looked around at the others who all nodded. Soon the group of four started to make their way out and towards the small docking area "you're looking for a ship?" he asked.
Samara nodded "yes, I'm hunting a fugitive that has fled Asari space. She arrived here and quickly ran" she informed.
"Who has the information?" Clark asked once they walked outside, and the detective split from the group and moved back to her precinct.
The group stopped when they reached the parked skycars "the Eclipse are the ones who smuggled her off world, they have a strong hold nearby that I believed the merchant Pitne For would have given me access to sneak in. You do not need that, the base is a mile south from here and the one in charge, Captain Wasea should have the information"
Turning around Clark looked in the direction she pointed and after a few seconds he was able to find the base he would need to go to "ok, I'll go get this information. While I'm doing this Mordin and Kasumi can take you back to ship, once you arrive look for Miranda Lawson. She'll fill you in what you've missed" he said.
The three nodded towards him before turning away and getting inside one of the skycars. Clark turned around and took a couple of steps forward, when he was trying to find a good path to use in order to walk to the base but he stopped when a thought struck him. He wasn't going to be back here again, at least he thought so. So, what was the harm in just making things quick. Having a small shrug Clark bent his legs and jumped, the ground underneath him cracking the weight of his power. It shouldn't take too long to get the data about the ship, he might be able to get back to the ship before the others do.
Ok guys, sorry for the long wait on this one but I have a very good reason. It's called Elden Ring. So, it's understandable right. Anyway, let me know what you think about the Samaras encounter and what you think should happen next when we go looking for Thane.
Until then I'll see you all in the next chapter.
