Outside of Sir Nighteye's agency

Midoriya's pov

"Well, here it is. Sir Nighteye's agency." Miro says as we stand outside of the building. "I should warn you. Sir is kind of a strict guy." Miro warns me. "Oh, I'm very aware. He's famous for being demanding of others and himself." I say, shivering. His gaze was always creepy, even as a kid. "That's true, but there's a whole other side of him that the press never gets to see." Miro says. "If you want to be acknowledged by him, here's a tip. You need to do one important thing at this meeting. You gotta make him laugh. Then he'll totally approve of you." Miro explains. That's…ridiculous.

"What does that mean?" I ask. "It's exactly what it means. He seems stern, but he really values humor for some reason." Miro explains as we enter the building and walk up some steps. "Here we are. He's just beyond this door." Miro says as he opens the door. "Hero! I brought that first year student I mentioned yesterday." Miro announces. Sir Nighteye's agency. Let's see what kind of place this—, "HAHAHAHA!" What. "HAHAHA!" The. "HAHAHAHA!" FUCK?!

"WHAT KIND OF PLACE IS THIS?!" I yell. Some blue girl is strapped to a table and is being tickled. "See, this is how loud and energetic you can be." Nighteye says as the girl begs for him to stop as she laughs. "Miro, what's going on?" I ask, creeped out from what I'm seeing. "That's his sidekick. Bubble Girl. I guess she didn't make him laugh." Miro explains. So, he does this to people if they do make him laugh. Nighteye then glances at me. Holy crap, his gaze is more intense in person!

As I stare at him, I remember Miro's advice. I have to get stronger. Others helped me to get where I am today. But, from this moment on, I have to work by myself. I look around his office and see a tone of All Might merch. It's pretty obvious he's a fan boy like me. However, recently I've been acting less and less of a fanboy since I'm trying to get stronger. I'm still obsessed with All Might, but not as much as I was before.

Nighteye looks over me for a moment before turning his back towards me. "Follow me. I wish to speak with you." Nighteye says. I follow him to his office as we enter and take a seat. "So, why do you wish to work under my agency?" Nighteye asks. "Well, I'm hoping that, by working under you, I'll get stronger." I answer. "If I were to do so, we would need a contract." Nighteye says. "Don't worry I have one." I say, grabbing my bag to get the contract. I hand it over to him as he says, "Once I've stamped this document, you'll officially be under work study for my agency. You have to understand that this will be nothing like those internships you students had. You will work here for 4 months and will be paid minimum wages." Nighteye explains.

"However, your academic responsibilities may suffer due to your absences. Which means your classmates will be ahead of you." Nighteye says. "I know, but if I worry about what everyone else is doing, I'll never be number 1." I say. Though, deep down, my new goal is to become strong enough to defeat Garou and finally end this madness. Suddenly, Nighteye goes to stamp it, but hits the desk instead. "Uh? You missed." I say. "Because I'm not approving this." Nighteye says. WHAT?! "I understand how working would be beneficial for you, but what benefit could you bring to this agency? This office currently runs smoothly with two sidekicks and one work study student. So, why would I add you on?" Nighteye asks.

"How can you contribute to society? How can you be useful to others?" Nighteye asks. "In order to be acknowledged, you must be able to answer those questions without hesitation. All Might showed his worth with his power and humor. He gave hope to others. That's why people acknowledged him." Nighteye says. You must show me your worth with actions, not words." Nighteye says as he stands up from his chair.

"You have three minutes to try and take this stamp from me. If you want to be a hero under my guidance, then stamp that contract yourself." Nighteye says. "Wait. What?" I ask. "I'm saying that even though you don't possess a single ounce of humor in your body, I'm still giving you a chance." Nighteye answers. "You two. Go outside for a while." Nighteye orders Miro and Bubble Girl as they leave. "I'll take no offensive mess at this time, and you're welcome to attack me in any manner you desire. Don't concern yourself with the room. Just come and get it." Nighteye says, preparing himself.

…He doesn't know about my monster fication, does he? I power myself up just about 3%.of One for All and stare down at him. "…Are you going to attack or not—" I cut him off by blitzing behind him in the blink of an eye and I come close to grabbing the stamp, but Nighteye barely dodges. Nighteye backs off and stares at me in shock. "What…How…How did you move so fast?" Nighteye questions. "Even with me looking into your future, you're much stronger than I th—" I once again cut him off and blitz at him again and this time I grab the stamp and stamp the document.

Nighteye is left shocked. "Impressive. Not many people can pull a sneak attack on me. You are indeed strong." Nighteye says. "So, does that mean I'm in?" I ask. "Usually, I would say yes, but I'm not sure if I want someone who attacks his fellow classmates to work under me." Nighteye says. "Wait. You know about—", "About your little outburst? Yes." Nighteye confirms. "I'm going to be honest. I believe Miro should've inherited One for All." Nighteye says. Miro was a candidate? Why didn't All Might tell me? "You're strong, but strength doesn't matter unless you have a hero's heart. Your recent actions have been rather alarming as of late. Especially the one where you killed Stain." Nighteye says as I am shocked.

"I was there when the doctors were trying to find a cause, but I managed to piece together that you lost control and ended up killing Stain. I don't understand how you can succeed All Might when you've done so many wrong doings." Nighteye says. "I can be better. I won't make the same mistakes! Things have been happening to me, but I swear I can be better!" I beg. "Let me finish. I am curious if you can be better. So, you'll be working under me. But, if you hurt any of the others, I will stop you." Nighteye threatens me. Nighteye begins walking towards a window.

"The symbol of peace is gone, and the people are not looking for a dim light, but a dazzling one. You'll work under me, but I still believe that you are unworthy." Nighteye says. He's only taking me in so I can give up. I'm All Might's chosen successor, but Nighteye does accept that. He wants Miro to have the power. I won't let Nighteye win. I'll prove to him that I can succeed All Might. "Tomorrow, you and Miro will be going on patrol. Listen to what he has to say, and don't lose your nerve." Nighteye says as he walks away. "Hey, congratulations on getting in. We should probably head back to UA right now." Miro says, but I don't listen. Why didn't All Might tell me that Miro was a candidate for One for All?

In the back of a limousine

Garou's pov

"We'll be arriving at the base soon. You're doing the right thing, allying with Overhaul. He'll truly make you and your team great." The driver says, but I am not listening. I used the card Overhaul gave us yesterday to call for a meeting. He accepted as anticipated. I'll use this meeting to my advantage to gain any knowledge I can on Overhaul's goal, and ways I can tear the organization down. I could easily beat him, but when someone attacks my group first, then I make sure they suffer.

We finally arrive at the base and one of Overhaul's goons opens my door. "Follow me. Overhaul is waiting for you now." The goon says as I follow behind as we walk into the base. As I follow behind him, I take a chance to observe my surroundings. Most of Overhaul's men are carrying some supplies. Like guns, rocket launchers, and trigger. Trigger is a quirk enhancement drug that boots your quirk, but it's very addictive and very dangerous. Luckily for me, I don't have a quirk. I then walk by a room with many medical supplies and a small table that looks like a kid could sit on it. Why does he have that?

"Where is Overhaul? Is he even here?" I ask. "He's here. He's just in the underground section of the base." The goon answers. Great, another underground section! If I see another giant dog, I'm gonna—, "We're here." The goon pulls me out of my thoughts as he opens a door for me and I walk through. Upon entering, I am greeted by Overhaul, who is wearing a black button up shirt with no jacket, and a little black guy with a plague doctor mask as well. "Greetings Garou. I'm glad we can finally talk without anymore…distractions." Overhaul says. I grit my teeth, hard. I want to beat this punk up, but I have to be smart.

"This is a large underground base you got here. It took 30 minutes to get here. Are all Yakuza strongholds like this?" I ask. "We don't know who might be watching us, or from where, and not all of our guests have the best intentions. So, we have a number of routes leading here, an underground reception room where we can be reasonably sure of our privacy." Overhaul explains. That's pretty smart. "You ever wonder how we survived for so long? It's because of little details like that." The little black guy says. "And you are?" I ask. "This is Mimic. One of my most loyal followers. The one behind you is Kurono." Overhaul introduces them. "Anyway, down to business. Did you really mean what you said on the phone yesterday? That you'll join us under the right conditions?" Mimic asks.

"Don't get your hopes up." I say as I take a seat in front of Overhaul. "Tea?" Overhaul asks me, but I shake my head. "Suit yourself." Overhaul says. "So, to recap what we said the other night. You want to capitalize on my reputation, and in turn, you help increase our reach. Our needs seem to coincide for the moment." I say. "Indeed. It'll benefit both of us." Overhaul says. "If we're going to be working together, then you should know that we're not putting ourselves under you. We'll still call our own shots. Either you agree, or I break every bone in your body and walk out." I say in a threatening tone. "So, those are the conditions. I think we can make that work." Overhaul says.

"One more thing. At the warehouse, you said that the real enemy is the hero's own power. Care to explain?" I ask. Suddenly, Kurono pulls a gun and puts it to my head. "Stop acting like you're in charge here. You don't get to demand anything from us." Kurono says in a cold tone. "Yeah! Who do you think you are, you little punk?!" Mimic yells. "I'm Garou, the Hero Hunter. The one who beat All Might and All for One. Who do you think you are, threatening me like that?" I ask as in the blink of an eye, I grab the gun and break it in two with ease. "I'm tempted to show you your place since the scales are far from even. You still haven't paid for Magne's arm." I say in a threatening tone.

"Kurono, Mimic, stand down. He came here to make his offer. The least we can do is hear him out." Overhaul orders his men. "By all means, continue." Overhaul says. "Like I said before your goons got jumpy, I want to know your mission. Maybe we can come to an understanding." I lie to him. I don't care what it is."Say. Have you ever played Shogi?" Overhaul asks as he gets out a Shogi board. "Once when I was training with my master, but I haven't played in a long time." I answer. "You'll learn quickly. Like how you learned All Might's fighting style." Overhaul says. "What does Shogi have to do with what we were talking about?" I ask. "Well, it'll help you see the bigger picture." Overhaul says. "Huh?" I am confused.

"Shogi is an interesting game because you can steal the pieces from your opponent and use them. I want Kurogiri or Toga, and maybe Bubaigawara. I don't feel at ease when they're doing your bidding." Overhaul says. Damn. He's trying to get an advantage on us if we try to fight him by taking valuable assets. "And why would I agree to this?" I ask. "It'll help build trust between our group. There's still ill will between us. And besides, it'll offer us something valuable when I tell you my plan." Overhaul says as it catches my attention.

"In this society, quirks control everything in our lives. They determine who will be a hero, and who will be a villain. And quite often, they only hurt us more than help us. In a way, they're a disease. I plan to destroy that disease by destroying every quirk in the world." Overhaul explains. He's going to do WHAT?! "You must be insane if you think you can destroy every quirk in the world! It's impossible." I say. "That's where you're wrong." Overhaul says as he pulls a red bullet out of his jacket. "This is a quirk erasing bullet. It can destroy a person's quirk completely. However, it's in its early phase and can temporarily cancel a person's quirk. But once I finish it, it'll change the world." Overhaul explains.

"What's the main compound that makes it possible?" I ask. "That's classified. But, back on topic. You and I share similar goals. We want this world to be fair, and purged of fake heroes. That's why I want you to join me. You seem like a reasonable person. So, what do you say?" Overhaul asks. "...Let's just see where this goes. I'll give you Twice and Toga. Kurogiri will stay with me. No exceptions." I say. "Very well. I'll expect them soon. Till we meet again, Hero Hunter." Overhaul says as I get up and follow Kurono out of the building.

I'm not going along with this plan. Even if quirks are gone, they'll still be war between everyone. In order to achieve world peace, I need opponents with quirks, so that at least they can give me a challenge. But, what the hell is the main ingredient for those bullets, and what's with the medical supplies I saw earlier? I will think about it more later. Right now it's getting late, and I need to get home soon.

In a park

Midoriya's pov

I am running through the park to find All Might. Midnight said he was jogging in the park, so I made my way there to find him. Eventually, I finally find him. "All Might! I have to talk to you!" I yell. "Whoa! Whoa! Take it easy!" All Might yells as I slow down and breathe hard. "How did you even know where I was—", "You knew what I was walking into." I cut him off. "Nighteye knows about One for All, and he wanted you to pass it on to Miro, not me. You knew what would happen. So, why didn't you warn me about it?" I ask. "I wasn't sure if it was my place to tell you." All Might answers.

"Of course it is! To hear all of this at once. To be rejected by him before I could make sense of it all! The worst part was not knowing why you kept it a secret! I have to know everything as your successor!" I yell. "I didn't think knowing of this information would help your development. But, if you really want the truth… you may regret this." All Might says. "I won't." I reassure him. "Nighteye had always been a fan of mine. It was my policy not to take on sidekicks, but I eventually gave in and let him be my number 2." All Might begins his explanation.

"We worked together for five years. He was the brain behind my operations. But, six years ago, we dissolved our partnership after I got my injury. Turns out we had different values. Nighteye wanted me to retire, in fear that I might die to a powerful villain one day. The two of us parted after that. We couldn't agree on my future. Nezu recommended Togata to me, but I met you instead." All Might says. "I'm sorry. I didn't want to make your life harder than it was." All Might says. "Harder than it already is?" I say, pissed. "I'm turning into a monster, I've lost my friends' trust, and now I was rejected by Nighteye. You only add to my list of problems!" I yell.

"I'm trying to get better. To be stronger. But, I can't if you don't tell me everything! Besides, weirder things have been happening to me! Like that weird dream with that white haired guy, and—", "White haired guy?" All Might asks, shocked. Does he know something? "Midoriya, what was this dream?" All Might asks. "Well, I saw this white haired guy and he said that I can't lose myself." I say. "Midoriya, I think…I think you saw the first user of One for All." All Might says. "What? But, isn't he dead?" I ask. "Yes, but maybe there is more to One for All than I thought. I wasn't able to fully complete my training with Nana, so there may have been things I missed." All Might says.

"There…was something else." I say. "Like what?" All Might asks. "It's…nothing. I don't remember it well." I say. "Well…if anything else happens, let me know. Please." All Might says. I nod and start to walk away. He wouldn't believe me if I told that I saw, apparently, God. Still, that dream has been stuck in my head for a while. It's probably nothing. I need to go back to the dorms before the teachers go to search for me.

No one's pov

As Midoriya walks back to the dorms, a gust of wind blows behind him and takes the shape of the all-powerful, God. He watches as Midoriya leaves back to the dorms. "Soon, you will pay for your rejection. And I will be free to finish what I started years ago. Rest well, Izuku Midoriya. For your pathetic mortal life is coming to an end." God says as the gust of wind dissipates. There is far more happening that the heroes and villains know. The hierarchy of power will soon change.
