"I got the results from the second scan and it looks like all the pellets are out," The doctor turns from the computer to face Olivia lying on her side.
Olivia asks, "Even the one by my hip?"
The Doctor nods her head in confirmation, "You're up to date on your tetanus. I'll get you antibiotics and you can get out of here."
Olivia sighs in relief as she notices Elliot appear in the doorway, "Oh, great, thank you. Thank you, doctor."
Leaving the room and passing Elliot the doctor announces, "And no physical activity for at least two weeks."
"Right," Olivia mutters under her breath.
She takes a relieving sigh as Elliot smirks, "How's your ass feeling"
"Well I won't be sitting anytime soon," Olivia raises her arm up, "Get me out of here?"
Elliot bends down, reaching around Olivia to help her stand up. With a little struggle, Olivia takes her weight off of Elliot. She groans in discomfort.
Elliot, still stabilizing her by grasping her hips, stares anxiously into her eyes. Olivia notices his shift in energy. She leans back slightly, gripping onto his shoulders, "You okay?"
Shaking his head 'no,' he honestly answers, "I couldn't see anything, I heard the shot." Olivia sighs and tilts her head sympathetically. He continues, "I'd thought I'd lost you."
"I can't imagine what that brings up for you," Olivia moves her hand from his shoulder to rest on his chest.
Elliot's phone chirps, "Yeah, Sarge?" Olivia looks slightly disappointed she is unable to finish the conversation but understands that the job needs to be completed. "Send the PIN," Elliot abruptly hangs up and turns to Olivia, "Kyle Wilkie's mom just gave him up."
Olivia takes a step backward, taking her hands off Elliot. She asks, "You need to go?"
"Yeah," Elliot huffs under his breath, wishing that she would ask him to stay.
"I'm good," Olivia reassures him.
Elliot slowly leans in for a hug. While only lasting a mere second, it felt as if time had stopped for him. She placed her hand on his back steadying herself. His hands resting on her hips and the warmth of her body radiating onto his was all the strength Elliot needed.
Olivia separates herself from his embrace. She watches him walk out of the patient room.
Wanting to give her former partner an update, she messaged him a day later.
O: I made it to my place. Thanks for being there.
Elliot grins.
E: Anytime.
O: I heard about Whelan. Is there anything I can do?
E: I don't think so.
E: Thanks, Liv.
O: Anytime.
The day continues to slowly pass by. Elliot trades in his police vehicle for his personal vehicle. Two blocks from his residence, he hears a call coming through. Tapping the green button on the screen, "Stabler."
"Are you in the area?" a woman's voice blares through the car's speakers.
Elliot peeks at the caller I.D., "Liv?" He can hear her sigh on the other end of the call. Elliot swerves her car down the next street, "I'll be right over."
Elliot speeds through the intersection. What should have taken thirty minutes took a measly fifteen. Buzzing for her apartment he hears a child, "Hello?"
Under his breath, he sighs with relief, "Noah, it's Elliot. Your mom called me…"
"You can come up," Noah buzzes Elliot into the building and meets him at the apartment door, "She's in the bathroom. She said she was gonna shower, but that was an hour ago."
"Thanks, bud," Elliot moves swiftly and knocks on the bathroom door, "Liv… Is everything okay?"
"Elliot?" Olivia asks trying to recognize the voice.
"Are you okay?"
"Promise you won't laugh…"
"Why would I laugh?"
"Promise me."
"I promise, Olivia. I promise I won't laugh," Elliot grins as he places his hand in the air as if he is under oath. He goes to wiggle the knob but stops to ask, "Are you… Are you decent?"
"Just get in here!" Olivia raises her voice in frustration.
The door swings open, almost hitting her. Elliot gasps trying to hold back his smile, "Woah." He steps into the small bathroom where Olivia is sprawled out on the floor. Bending down he reaches for her arm, "What happened? Are you okay? Anything hurt?"
Getting back on her feet, she adjusted her robe by tightening the knot, "The only thing hurt is my ego." Elliot chuckles at her statement causing her to smile in return. Olivia slides the shower curtain open, "I was trying to get in the shower, but I can't lift my leg over the side of the tub."
"So you've just been hanging out on the floor?"
"I wouldn't call it 'hanging out.'"
"What would you call it?"
"Reconsidering all of my life choices that have led up to this moment."
"That's some heavy shit-" Elliot turned behind him to make sure Noah wasn't behind him. Steadying her by holding onto her shoulders he asks, "You need help getting in?"
"I do, but I'm not sure how-" Olivia is interrupted by Elliot wrapping his arms around he abdomen and carefully lifting her off the ground. Practically tossing her over his shoulder like a potato sack, she playfully hits him on the shoulder, "Elliot!"
Elliot makes sure to place her gently on her feet in the tub. Taking a step back he smiles and says, "No way you would have let me do that if I let you finish talking."
"You'd be correct," Olivia smoothes the front of her robe with her hands. She smiles, "Thank you, Elliot."
"Anytime, Liv. Anytime," Elliot takes a step back making sure to close the door behind him.
Noah runs up to Elliot invading his personal space, "Is my mom okay?"
Slightly shocked, Elliot takes a second before answering, "She is. She needed some help with her hip."
Noah nods accepting Elliot's answer. He heads down the hall, "I'm gonna go to bed. Goodnight, Elliot."
"Goodnight, Noah," Elliot picks up his jacket he had dropped on the couch in a hurry and steps towards the door. He tosses his jacket back on the couch. He leans back into the couch cushions and closes his eyes.
Drifting off the white noise of the shower running, he almost completely falls asleep. Waking up abruptly to a small grunt, "My God." He slowly stands from the couch and walks to the door hearing a louder grunt, "Fuck."
Lightly knocking he asks softly, "Everything good in there?"
The commotion stops and the apartment becomes silent. Olivia asks, "Elliot?"
"That's my name, don't wear it out."
"What are you doing here? I thought you left."
"Well I figured if you needed help getting in, you'd probably need help getting out…"
Elliot can hear Olivia let out a sigh. Olivia shuffles around in the tub, "Let me get my robe on." Waiting for her signal to enter, he waits patiently by the door. Tightening the knot on her robe she squeezes her eyes shut, "Alright."
He pushes the door open and is hit with a waft of her signature lavender scent. Taking a breath in, the steam clears and he sees Olivia standing in her tub, clutching her robe like her life depended on it. He steps closer to her and gracefully lifts her out of the tub. As he places her on the ground, her rob begins to slip off of her shoulder. Noticing a mark, he points, "Where'd you get that?"
Olivia pulls the fabric back over her shoulder, "It's nothing."
Hesitant to push her, he tells her, "Liv you don't have to hide anything from me. I can handle it."
"Elliot, I told you. It's nothing."
"Clearly, it's something."
"Leave it alone, Elliot!" Olivia raises her volume and her tone becomes more stern. Elliot watches Olivia push past him and enter her bedroom. She shuts her door as she says, "You can show yourself out." Behind the closed door, Olivia falls onto her bed and struggles to breathe. Grasping her shoulder she tries to control her breathing. She falls asleep in nothing but her robe, with no alarm set for the morning.
Elliot stands in the center of her apartment. He knows she wants him out, but he can't leave her. Not like that. Elliot makes himself comfortable on the couch, eventually falling asleep.

A/N: I'm planning on making this a 2 chapter story. I don't think I want this to be drawn out. Just short and sweet.
