Chapter 3: College years
3 years later- junior year Embry pov
A/N: Bella's junior year of college. Her major is in agriculture with a minor in animal science. Embry junior year. His major is chemical engineering
"Hey guys! Welcome back! W-e-l-c-o-m-e!" The cheer team greeted everyone.
Embry snorted and rolled his eyes at the girls in short skirts. They had butts and boobs but no brains.
It was his third year of college and things were going great. He had his apartment and had a part-time job on and off campus fixing technology at a discounted price.
He was popular with everyone because he was the tech guy. The one who could fix your screen in 20 seconds flat.
"Yo! Embry! I got an iPod that's calling your name!" one of his classmates shouted.
Embry waved at him and continued on his way; he couldn't be late for the first day of class. Cornell University was one of the most prestigious schools in Ithaca New York and as a scholarship student, Embry had to work twice as hard to keep it. but he wasn't sweating it. He worked hard and he earned his grade.
With his backpack slung over his shoulder, he walked into the classroom ready to focus. However, just as he was going to sit down, someone bumped into him.
"Ow."
"Ouch! Oh no!" a female voice cried.
Embry looked down to see a girl with brown hair put up into a neat bun. His eyes followed her distressed cries as he noticed her coffee had spilled onto her opened laptop.
"Oh no. I'm sorry I guess we weren't paying attention. If you don't mind, I can fix it."
Without waiting for her reply, Embry snatched up the laptop and took out some wipes from his bag. He also took out his tool kit and began to unscrew her keyboard. With quick hands and a little help from his kit, he had her laptop working in ten minutes.
"Here you go, all fixed up. I am sorry I wasn't paying attention. I usually sit in this seat every day. What's your name? I don't recall seeing you here?" Embry chatted as he stood to finally get a good look at the girl.
She had brown hair that was put up in a bun. Glasses and stud earrings. She wore a Cornell sweater and skinny jeans.
"Thank you for fixing my computer. Im amazed by your skills. My name is Isabella and im only in this class because my other math professor thought I wasn't meeting my potential. So, she pushed me to take this honors statistics class. Anyway, I didn't know we still had assigned seats in college. Someone's eager to learn huh?" she joked.
Embry smiled at her and laughed.
"Listen I was always told to sit in the front of the class. It makes you pay attention more and you get seen by the teacher. I don't care what people say, I will be a teacher's pet if it gets me a good grade."
Isabella laughed and proceeded to move her stuff.
"Hey where are you going?" he asked her.
"Oh well, this is your seat, I don't want to take it from you."
Embry shook his head.
"Nonsense, just sit there, I'll take the seat next to you. My name is Embry by the way."
Isabella smiled at him.
"Embry. I like that name."
Embry was going to ask her a question but then their professor came strutting in.
"Good morning class, let's get started."
….
The next month was filled with a routine.
Embry and Isabella would meet in their math class and chat happily. They would even bump into each other at times. It just so happened that Isabella worked in the school library and that was connected to what everyone called the tech cave. It was where students went to get their computers fixed or learn how to use new software. Embry just so happened to be the manager.
Whenever they had a break, they both would absentmindedly sit with each other and have a cup of coffee or tea.
It was during one of these moments that Embry finally decided to be bold.
"Hey Isabella?" he asked as he watched her stir her tea.
"What's up buttercup?"
He snorted at the nickname but continued his question.
"I like you. I think you're an awesome person. So, I wondering, would you like to go with me? like on a date?"
Isabella cocked her head to the side as her eyebrows furrowed.
"Um I kind of thought we already were?" she asked with a small smile.
Embry blinked at her and chuckled.
"What gave you that impression?"
Isabella blushed.
"Well, you asked me out for coffee a few weeks ago, and if you haven't noticed we have been spending all our breaks together. Am I wrong?"
Embry beamed at her. They had indeed been spending any break they could find with each other.
"That is true, but I would like to go steady with you outside the walls of Cornell."
Isabella shook her head and laughed.
"Go steady? What era are you from!?"
"The 1950's of course. Now, what's your answer doll?"
Isabella shook her head as she blushed.
"I would love to go steady with you Embry."
Embry made a whooping sound and cheered.
