Chapter 3: Freak!
Lincoln lays on his bed in his underwear and with a comic help open over his face, Lincoln's eyes linger on the same panel for who know how long. The boy sighs and drops the comic on his face, "What am I supposed to do?". Lincoln sits up and tosses his comic on his desk, he hangs his feet off the edge of his bed as he just stares passed his wall.
Lincoln feels and hears his stomach growl and he looks at the door to the hallway with dread, the boy perks up as he reaches for a box of cookies from under his bed. "The man with the plan is always pre…" Lincoln feels the box and shakes it to find it empty, "Dang it." His Stomach growls again and Lincoln throws the empty box over his shoulder as he stands to his feet to put clothes on.
The boy opens his door slowly and sees the hallway empty through the small gap, "The coast is clear." Lincoln swiftly makes his way downstairs and into the dining room, "So far, so good." He thinks to himself as he enters the kitchen but upon entering his heart sinks, Lynn looks out the kitchen window over the sink as she peacefully drinks her morning coffee. The athlete watches as bird fly and sing outside, her eye bags are an indication of her sleep worsening.
Lynn sees Lincoln in the reflection of the window behind her, she stiffens up and slowly turns to face Lincoln. The two are equally uncomfortable as they silently wave at each other and look at anything besides the other, "Hey, Linc." "Hey, Lynn." Lincoln nearly trips as he averts his eyes from his sister and approaches the refrigerator, Lynn does the same but can't control her smile at the adorable sight of him stumbling on his feet. Lincoln grabs the gallon of milk, the cereal and bowl from a near by cabinet, he lugs his items to the dining table to pour himself a bowl of cereal or two or three of cereal.
Lincoln freezes and gets a chill up his spine as Lynn's voice grabs him by the throat, "Hey, Lincoln. Do you maybe wanna do something tomorrow?" The boy turns with his breakfast items in hand and a nervous smile, "Sorry, Lynn. I plan on catching up on some comics and FaceTiming Clyde tomorrow." Lynn's worry starts to become noticeable, "Oh -Uh, how about the day after tomorrow?" The boy's arms start to shake from the fatigue and nerves, "Sorry again, I have plans with Ronnie Anne that day."
Lincoln turns to exit the kitchen but gets stopped again by Lynn's voice, "Are you doing anything the day after the day after tomorrow?" The boy's patience is unfortunately shortened by the weight in his hands and the uncomfortable confusion he's been feeling since last night, "I'm not sure actually…" Lynn speaks with a slight shake in her voice, "If you're not doing anything just-" Lincoln drops everything in his hands and groans from the thin muscles in his arms cramping, Lynn puts her coffee on the kitchen counter and goes to help him. The milk gallon thankfully didn't explode but the bowl got chipped and the cereal spilled a large amount on the floor, "I'm sorry, Lincoln! Let me help-!"
Lincoln raises his voice at his sister, "Haven't you done enough! Just leave me alone!" Lynn pulls her hand back but insists on helping Lincoln, he again snaps. "Get away from me, you freak!" The boy slaps his hand onto his mouth as his eyes go wide. Lynn stands up with tears in her eyes as Lincoln tries to apologize. "Lynn, I-I didn't mean…" Lynn runs away from the kitchen wiping her cheeks with her forearm, "Lynn, Wait!" Lynn bumps into Lola in the hallway, the small blonde nearly topples over as Lynn slams her bedroom door behind her. "Watch it, Lynn! I just polished the tiara."
Lincoln stands on his knees with cereal scattering around him and his head hanging down in shame, after a moment of sulking he continues to clean the mess. The absolute heart break on Lynn's face is imprinted Lincoln's mind, "I didn't mean it, Lynn."
Upstairs the athlete throws her gym bag onto her bed and begins throwing clothes in it from her small dresser, Lynn packs her bag as her goth sister appears behind her. "What are you doing, Lynn?" The athlete jumps from the scare but continues to pack without looking at Lucy, "I can't stay here, I have to stay somewhere else." Lucy steps next Lynn and the goth notices the tears streaming down her sister's cheeks, "Lynn, what happened? Why do you have to leave?" Lynn zips up the gym bag full of clothes, "Because I'm a freak! I can't stay here and force Lincoln to live with… someone like me! We can't even look at each others without feeling weird, I don't wanna force him to live like this!"
Lucy puts her hand on Lynn's shoulder, "Lynn, where are you gonna go?" Lynn wipes the tears from her eyes only for new streams to take their place, "W-When Mom and Dad get here I'm gonna ask them if I could stay with Pop-Pop or Aunt Ruth." Lucy monotone voice almost displays worry, "Gasp, Aunt Ruth. How long do think we'll be staying there?" Lynn's teary eyes look at Lucy with confusion, "We? Lucy-"
The sound of the door creaking open catches the sisters' attention, Lincoln stands in the door way hiding most of himself behind the door. Lynn asks with pain and anger, "What?! How much did you hear?!" Lincoln steps in and closes the door behind him, "All of it, does Lucy know?" Lucy faces Lincoln and steps forward, "I was the first to know, but if you two need to be alone I'll leave." Lynn grabs Lucy's hand, "Dang it." Says the goth as she was actually hoping to not be involved. "Stay, Lucy. Whatever you're gonna say Lincoln, say it."
Lincoln rubs the back of his neck, "Lynn, I don't want you to think I hate you. I got upset because that's a huge thing we have to deal with and for the first time, I feel stumped and I can't think of a plan even one that's bound to fail. I can't think of anything, but I shouldn't hold it against you. I'm sure if you could stop feeling the way you do, you would." Lynn's shoulders relax and her anger dissipates, Lincoln continues, "I don't want you to leave and smell like cat piss or old people piss, how about tomorrow we leave the house and just spend the day together and hopefully relieve the tension. How's that sound?" Lynn steps passed Lucy and hugs Lincoln as her tears return, "Thank you, Lincoln. That's all I could ask for. Are you up for joining us, Lucy?"
The goth smiles ever so slightly, "No thanks, I think that episode is best suited for just the two of you." Lincoln and Lynn both ask in unison, "What?" Lucy reiterated her odd statement, "I said, it's best if your two resolve this situation on your own without me there." Lincoln separates from the hug and asks Lynn, "What do you wanna do tomorrow?" Lynn wiped her tears and asks her brother, "Anything as long as we're out of the house, but what about your plans?" Lincoln waves off her worry, "I'll just read comics another day, and I'll tell Clyde to FaceTime me when we get home."
Moments Earlier
Luan enters the dining room and hears Lincoln and Lynn speaking in the kitchen, "Hey, Lincoln. Do you maybe wanna do something tomorrow?" The comedian eavesdrops and continues to listen, Lincoln stands in the kitchen door way as Luan hides behind the dining table as he speaks, "Sorry, Lynn. I plan on catching up on some comics and FaceTiming Clyde tomorrow." Luan smiles at the rejection and thinks to herself, "That's right. Lynn isn't worth your time, Linc."
"Oh -Uh, how about the day after tomorrow?" Asks the stubborn athlete, "Jeez, Learn to take a hint, Lynn." Luan thinks as she rolls her eyes. "Maybe, I'll ask Lincoln if he want to hangout that day-" The comedian plays with the idea of making Lynn jealous for once until Lincoln unknowingly crushes those plans, "Sorry again, I have plans with Ronnie Anne that day."
Luan's hands start to shake as she stands up from behind the table, "Ronnie Anne?" The comedian walks away from the dining room and goes up the stairs with the rest of the Loud house muted to her ears, when she arrives to her room she rattles the doorknob as she twist it. As expected, the room is devoid of Luna. Leaving Luan to ask herself out loud , "What can we do to get rid of Ronnie Anne?" The comedian thinks but does not find an answer, in anger she grabs her joke journal off her vanity and chucks it at the wall. "I WANT HIM SO BAD!"
The Next Morning
Lincoln and Lynn sit side by side each other on a park bench under a tree, surrounded by summer light the siblings watch as birds and squirrels scatter through the grass and other trees around them. Lincoln whistles and sticks his finger out for one of his feathered friends to join him, A small canary lands on the boy's finger and Lynn pats the small bird's head. The athlete leans her head on Lincoln's shoulder as the canary returns to his branch, "I'm having great time, Linc. Thanks for bringing me."
The boy leans his head on her's as they admire the wet grass and cloudless sky, Lincoln and Lynn's hands get closer on the bench with the other knowing. Once their fingers make contact, their heads separate from the surprise affection. Lincoln and Lynn's cheeks go red as they stare at each other with wide eyes. Lincoln never thought he would be speechless staring at Lynn's big eyes and freckled cheeks, he knew how Lynn felt for him and he knew what he wanted to do would not be objected. Lincoln and Lynn both closed their eyes and lean closer to each other, next thing Lincoln felt was his body jerking up on his bed.
Lincoln quickly sits up on his bed panting and sweating profusely, he scans his surroundings and sees he was in his room and that he was dreaming his day at the park. After realizing where he was, Lincoln plops back down on his bed as his heavy breathing continuing. The boy closes his eyes and puts his hand on his beating heart, "Why… does my heart feel… a little warm?"
Author's Notes: You just read the first three chapters and you're nice enough to read the notes I left you. Thanks again for reading, I can't say enough. If you have any thoughts, critiques, suggestions, questions or anything in between leave them in the reviews.
For those of you that like the story so far and are wondering, "When's chapter 4 dropping?" I have a schedule in mind and let me just say I am not a fan of monthly uploads or long gaps between chapters. I understand that authors have lives and upload chapters when they're ready, but I wanted to do things differently. Much like a tv show or limited series, I wrote everything collectively and I'll be releasing the chapters weekly. The original story had a loose weekly schedule and I'm sure other stories have been done weekly before or even all at once, in any case starting next Monday you can expect one new chapter every Monday until the Finale. I gave my self a week to inspect each chapter and tweak it or add a suggestion from the comments if I like it enough. If your not coming here from X/Twitter give me a follow and like my stuff @JayRabbit_ I'm not the most skilled artist and I wish I could draw out a scene from each chapter as they release but I'll just post a drawing sporadically when the inspiration hits.
That'll be it for the author's notes for this week, just had a lot to say for the first week. Hope to see you all back next week. See ya!
