Chapter 7: you can plan on me

Charlie sighed as he looked in the rearview mirror.

His sons were playing their video game with aptitude focus.

Instead of taking the plane ticket his daughter had provided, he opted for driving. He bought a brand new truck just a few weeks ago but living in a small town, he was used to driving the cruiser. why not put some miles on his new truck?

Another sigh escaped him. He hadn't been quite honest with his family about this trip. All he told them was to pack their stuff and get in the truck.

They, of course, followed without hesitation. When they asked where they were going, he said Canada but he never told them why.

"something wrong honey?" his wife asked. Jade Littlesea turned his life upside down when she walked into his office. She needed a restraining order on her ex-husband, who had beaten her and the kids more than once.

From then on, they had fallen in love. They decided on a small wedding on the reservation where Jade lived. however, she moved to Forks to live with him because she wanted to cut ties with her ex-husband and his family.

But, Collin and Brady were close to many of the kids on the reservation so Charlie took them with him whenever he went to visit Billy.

They loved Jacob and followed him everywhere.

It also helped that Sarah loved jade, and the two were thick as thieves.

"I haven't told you all the exact truth." He admitted.

"you mean about where we are going? Does this have something to do with Bella?" Jade asked, with a soft smile.

When they married, Charlie and Jade made sure to tell each other about their past. The whole truth. Charlie admitted to being a horrible father and how he ignored his daughter.

Why? Well, there was never a solid reason. He had been nervous and had no clue how to interact with her. plus, he held a little resentment towards Renee from the way she left him. He then took it out on his daughter which was unfair to her.

He loved his daughter dearly, but he never knew how to express it. he owed her a million apologies when he saw her.

"How did you know?" he asked.

"you've been quieter than normal honey. I knew something was on your mind. So Bella finally reached out to you?"

"yeah, she lives in Canada now and she wanted me to come visit her for Christmas. She sent me a plane ticket but I wanted her to meet you all as well. So here we are on the road. What if she doesn't forgive me, Jade? What if I lose her forever?"

"honey. You cannot beat yourself up for your past mistakes and if Bella didn't forgive you, she wouldn't have reached out to you. just use this time to reconnect. "

"your right honey. As always." He smiled, grabbing her hand. " hey boys, I have something to tell you."

"We heard everything! I am so excited!" Colin cheered.

"so we're going to meet her? the Bella swan? Our big sister? Are sure she'll like us? Brady asked shyly.

"boys, your sister is going to love you."

"dear, can you slow down?" Sarah asked in agitation.

"Honey, I am going the speed limit," Billy told her frustrated.

"uhh, you know I can drive too," Jacob said the back of the sedan.

"no." both his parents announced.

Jacob sighed.

Frustration filled the car, as the black family held back their angry words. His sisters were next to him just as agitated as his parents were. And they had a right to be, just a few hours ago, his father had confessed a family secret. During a strenuous time in their marriage, his father angry from the fight he had with their mother, left home, got drunk, and slept with Tiffany call.

The next day, he woke up horrified and ashamed. To his father's credit, he did tell his mother right away and of course, she was pissed and they fought even more but eventually, his mother forgave him. The only thing she wanted was for him to stay away from Tiffany.

So his father did just that. He ignored Tiffany, even when she told him she was pregnant.

If anything, Jacob was angry at his father. how could he hide the fact that his embry was his brother? Now everything made sense. The way Embry disappeared years ago, the distance. Well, Jacob was responsible for the distance part. Ever since he joined Sam, he was no longer allowed contact with embry.

Embry wasn't a freaking shapeshifter. But that fiasco had been short-lived, they hadn't encountered a vampire for at least a year. That was something he hoped he never had to share.

"I don't see why we have to go see the bastard anyway." A deep voice said from the back.

Jacob looks back to sneer at Paul.

Paul freaking lahote was now his brother-in-law and not by choice either. stupid supernatural connections.

But besides that, Jacob couldn't complain about his life, he was doing well for himself. He had gone to college and graduated with honors. After that, he wanted to do something with his life, something with meaning. That is when he became a cop. Charlie trained him, himself and then he transferred over to the reservation police. Jacob became the youngest police chief in the history of La Push. It was then some of his other friends joined the crew and before he knew it they were cleaning up crime all over the reservation.

"don't start Paul, he's our brother and your brother-in-law. We're going to see him." Jacob ordered.

Paul sighed and kicked Jacob's seat but he didn't make any noise to complain.

"let's just get this over with." His mother grumbled

Jacob didn't think it would be that easy.
