Everyone was looking at each other shocked. They didn't know that it was possible for a child of a Madrigal to not get a gift. Each and everyone was sad for the bright and happy child that they grew to love, even Alma was sad for her sweet little nieta. But she is also feeling an ugly gut feeling about how she reacted in the future. She just hopes she is wrong.
Once again, before they could start the movie, there was another bright flash of light. When it faded, they saw a twenty year old woman. She looked around and saw Alonso. She ran to him and kissed him passionately. The family then realized that this was Mirabel from the future.
"Mi rey, so this is where you were, I was getting worried," She said with concern in her voice. He chuckled while patting her on the shoulder with reassurance.
"Mi reina, I'm so sorry to worry you, but if you look around, then you'll see why I was gone," Alonso told her. She looked around and noticed her family that was before her failed gift ceremony. She squeaked and clutched her husband. He snickered, while also putting a protective arm around her.
"Mirabel, is that you," asked Julieta, looking at her older looking youngest with a smile. That wasn't all that they saw. They could see a small bump near her stomach. Is she pregnant? They all thought. Pepa immediately got upset. He took her innocence away! They all glared at Alonso. No matter how happy Mirabel seemed with him, they still didn't like that they were married and want to protect her.
"Yes mama, it's me," Mirabel said. She looked up to see her family glaring at her husband, which caused her to laugh.
"What's so funny, mi vida," Alonso asked with a smile. She gestures towards her still glaring family. He looks around and also laughs, though his was a little tense. Before anyone could say something the movie started.
WOMAN- "Get the chairs out of the way."
MIRABEL- "Sorry, excuse me."
PEPA- "Dolores, can you hear if anyone is going to be late?
MIRABEL- "Huh? Whoop."
ABUELA- "Lift it higher, higher." CAMILO- "Hey, nice job over there."
The family frowned, not liking how tense everything seems to be.
JOSÉ- "Yeah, yeah."
ABUELA- "Camilo, we need another José."
CAMILO- "José!"
ABUELA- "Luisa, the piano goes upstairs."
LUISA- "I'm on it. Oops, careful sis."
"Why does Luisa look so tired, mama," Julieta asked her mama with a tense looking. Alma chose not to look at her eldest, feeling fear.
PEPA- "My baby's night has to be perfect, and it's not perfect, and people are going to be coming, and nothing's ready!"
"Oh, Antonio is tia Pepa's and tio Fèlix's son," little Mirabel said excitedly. Everyone chuckled at the cute expression on her face. While Pepa was happy to have another child.
"Yes, he was born on your... uh my... our tenth birthday," explained the older Mirabel, looking confused about the tenses she now needs to use.
FÈLIX- "You're tornado-ing the flowers! The flowers!"
ISABELA- "Did someone say flowers?"
MAN- "Isabela!"
"Mama, are you putting pressure on my oldest to be the perfect golden child," Julieta rose her voice at her mama with a growl. She was now glaring at Alma. Once again, Alma was feeling lots of fear from the way her oldest was looking at her.
FÉLIX- "Our angel, our angel."
ISABELA- "Please don't clap."
PEPA- "Thank you."
ISABELA- "Oh it's nothing."
Isabela flicked her hair off of her shoulder and into the face of her youngest sister causing multiple flowers to land where she had been hit.
ISABELA- "A little sisterly advice, if you weren't always trying so hard you would be in the way."
"ISABELA, THAT IS NOT HOW YOU TREAT YOUR SISTER," Julieta screamed, now angrily glaring at her oldest. Isabela gulped and said a quick apology to both of the Mirabels and her mama.
MIRABEL- "Actually Isa, this is called helping and I'm not in the way you-"
Mirabel walked into a large support beam covered in her eldest sister's flowers.
Everyone groaned at that. Just like Agustín.
JULIETA- "Woah..."
MIRABEL- "Excuse me."
JULIETA- "Mi vida, you okay? You don't have to overdo it."
MIRABEL- "I know mamá, I just wanna do my part like the rest of the family."
Julieta once again glaring angrily at her mama. She shouldn't have to feel like she needs to do a part.
AGUSTÍN- "She right amour,"
MIRABEL- "Egh."
AGUSTÍN- "First gift ceremony since yours. Lot of emotions."
MIRABEL- "Bee stings!"
AGUSTÍN- "And I've been there."
JULIETA- "Ay Agustín..."
"Tia is so done," Camilo snickered.
AGUSTÍN- "When me and your Tío Félix married into the family, outsiders who had no gift, never ever would... surrounded by the exceptional it was easy to feel... un-ceptional."
"Unceptional isn't a word Papi." Luisa said to her dad.
"Then what is the word señorita?"
"It's unexceptional." "Oh... That would make sense."
MIRABEL- "Okay Papi."
AGUSTÍN- "I'm just saying I get it."
JULIETA- "Eat. Mi amour, if you ever want to talk..."
MIRABEL- "I gotta put up the stuff. The house isn't gonna decorate itself. Sorry, you could. You look great.
JULIETA- "Corazón remember,"
AGUSTÍN- "Yeah, remember."
JULIETA- "You have nothing to prove!"
AGUSTÍN- "You have nothing to prove."
MIRABEL- "Mhm."
"MAN Gus, I know you are trying, but come on," Fèlix teased, while Agustín was smiling sheepishly. Julieta just kissed his cheek.
FÉLIX- "Ah, los músicos, you guys can set up over here."
ABUELA- "Clean your rooms! I don't care how big they are."
TIPLE MAESTRO- "Has anyone seen my tiple?"
ABUELA- "One hour!"
Mirabel stumbled backwards and knocked the candle she had just placed in front of Abuela's door setting fire to the small mat she had also created.
MIRABEL- "Wha- oh. No, no, no, no."
ABUELA- "Maybe, you should leave the decorations to someone else?"
"Mama," Julieta exclaimed in shock, glaring at her mother.
MIRABEL- "No I actually made these as a surprise. For you- uh...oof"
"Awe," everyone cooed. Little Mirabel squealed in delight, while grown up Mirabel blushed and hid her face in Alonso's chest. He smiled down at her and kissed her head.
ABUELA- "Mirabel, I know you want to help, but tonight must go perfectly. The whole town relies on our family. On our gifts. So the best way for some of us to help is to step aside. Let the rest of the family do what they do best. Okay?"
Here everyone frowned at Alma. She too frowned.
MIRABEL- "Mhm."
ABUELA- "Pepa, you have a cloud."
PEPA- "I know mamá, but now I can't find Antonio! What do you want from me?"
JULIETA- "Mamá, be nice to Mirabel okay. You know tonight will be hard for her."
ABUELA- "If the gift ceremony doesn't go well this time, tonight will be hard for us all."
Now everyone is glaring at her. Alma gulped with fear in her eyes.
FÉLIX- "Antonio!"
MIRABEL- "Everyone's looking for you."
"This present will self-destruct if you don't take it in three... two... one... oh."
Mirabel crawled under her bed finding Antonio hiding there. "Nervous?"
ANTONIO- "What if it doesn't work?"
MIRABEL- "Well, in that impossible scenario, you'd stay here in the nursery, with me. Forever. And I'd get you all to myself."
Everyone smiled, loving how sweet Mirabel is tonher cousin.
ANTONIO- "I wish you could have a door."
MIRABEL- "You know what? You don't have to worry about me because I have an amazing family and an amazing house and an amazing you. And seeing you getting your special gift and your door, that's gonna make me way happier than anything. But alas, I am gonna miss having the world's best roomie."
Antonio opened the present to reveal a homemade stuffed leopard plushie.
"I know you're an animal guy, and I made this, so when you move into your cool new room you always have something to snuggle with."
Casita bounced over the alarm clock showing the time. It was time for the ceremony.
"Alright hombrecito, you ready? Sorry, I gotta get one more squeeze. Okay, okay we're going! Ow! Ow!"

Mirabel and Antonio rounded the corner to find Pepa, Félix, Camilo and Dolores waiting for him.
FÉLIX- "Ha ha, there you are!"
PEPA- "Look at you, all grown up."
FÉLIX- "Pepi, amour, you are going to get him all wet."
CAMILO- "You're making your papá proud."
FÉLIX- "I don't sound like that."
CAMILO- "I don't sound like that."
Everyone laughed. Camilo perked up hearing the laughter. At least they are laughing, including Mirabel. Camilo thought.
DOLORES- "Abuela says, it's time."
PEPA- "We'll be waiting at your door."
FÉLIX- "Okay, vamo, vamo, vamo."
CAMILO- "Okay, vamo, vamo, vamo. Alright! I'm done!"
The screen flashed again as the setting changed. The family now stood at the stairs looking up at Abuela as she began her speech. Antonio's parents and siblings stood at his door.
ABUELA- "Fifty years ago, in our darkest moment, this candle blessed us with a miracle. And the greatest honour of our family has been to use our blessing to serve this beloved community. Tonight we come together once more as another steps into the light. To make us proud.
Drums began to play and Casita's tiles switched to resemble a red carpet. The lights that were placed on the walls turned to create a spotlight for Antonio. Everyone in the crowd watched waiting for Antonio to begin his walk up towards the door. Nothing. Casita tried to nudge him forward to help him begin the walk. Antonio turned his head to face Mirabel and held his hand out towards her. His eyes begged her to help him. Mirabel looked at him and then to the crowd then back at him.
MIRABEL- "I can't."
ANTONIO- "I need you."
Mirabel slowly walked out and stood next to Antonio talking his hand.
Everyone weakly smiled. At least Antonio has someone to look after him. They thought sadly.
MIRABEL- "C'mon, let's get you to your door."
A flashback appeared with the small five-year-old Mirabel, still in the same outfit from the beginning of the movie. As she continued she walked up to the door and placed her hand on the doorknob. Instead of the reaction that everyone hoped for, the door faded away and the candle flame flickered and dimmed for a moment. Mirabel turned to face her Abuela confusion and fear all over her face while Abuela's eyes kept flicking from the candle to the door. Then the flashback ended.
Alma closed her eyes. So I did treat her wrong for not getting a gift, oh mi mariposa, I'm so sorry. She thought.
ABUELA- "Will you use your gift to honour our miracle? To serve this community and strengthen our home?"
Antonio nodded as he approached his door.
Then a toucan landed on Antonio's arm before tweeting.
ANTONIO- "Uh-huh, Uh-huh, I understand you. Of course, they can come!"
A large number of different animals suddenly flooded Casita running up to Antonio. His door flashed displaying his name and the boy surrounded by animals.
ABUELA- "We have a new gift!"
He ran into his new room as his family and townspeople all flooded in as well curious to see the room in question.
KID 2- "It's bigger on the inside!"
Antonio's new leopard friend ran up to him and picked him up, taking him on a joyride around the new room.
FÉLIX- "Go, Antonio! Yeah!"
It cut back to Antonio as he looked down at his new friend.
ANTONIO- "You wanna go where? Woah!"
AGUSTÍN- "Okay, alright."
FÉLIX- "That was amazing."
ABUELA- "I knew you could do it. A gift just as special as you. Oh, we need a picture! Everyone, come! Come, come, come, come! It's a great night. It's a perfect night. Everyone, together."
MADRIGALS- "La familia Madrigal!"
Everyone froze, seeing how Mirabel didn't get in the picture.
The film began to slow as a tune began to play on the screen.
Mirabel: Don't be upset or mad at all Don't feel regret, or sad at all Hey, I'm still a part of the family Madrigal And I'm fine, I am totally fine
Julieta whimpered, hugging her youngest daughter close to her.
I will stand on the side as you shine I'm not fine, I'm not fine
I can't move the mountains I can't make the flowers bloom I can't take another night Up in my room Waiting on a miracle I can't heal what's broken Can't control the morning rain or a hurricane Can't keep down the unspoken invisible pain Always waiting on a miracle, a miracle
By now, everyone was heavily crying, including future Mirabel and her husband.
Always walking alone Always wanting for more Like I'm still at that door Longing to shine like all of you shine All I need is a change All I need is a chance All I know is I can't Stay on the side Open your eyes Open your eyes Open your eyes
Alma closed her eyes in pain. It was clear that Mirabel was in pain from her. What else have I done?
I would move the mountains Make new trees and flowers grow Someone please just let me know Where do I go I am waiting on a miracle A miracle I would heal what's broken Show this family something new Who I am inside So what can I do? I'm sick of waiting on a miracle So here I go I am ready! Come on, I'm ready! I've been patient and steadfast and steady! Bless me now as you blessed us all those years ago When you gave us a miracle Am I too late for a miracle?
Everyone had to stop the movie for a while for they had to stop crying.
