Yu-gi-oh/RWBY Chapter 4
The Fortune Cup Begins
"EVERYBODY LISTEN!" the announcer declared. Rose was gathered in the stadium with all the other participants. Blake was on the other side of the line of contestants from her, so Ruby couldn't get to talk to her, much to her chagrin. The announcer kept on, announcing how the Fortune Cup was going to go, how we're all friends or something like that, Ruby wasn't paying attention. After a bit, though, she started to hear some nasty things from the crowd.
"Say, doesn't that one on the left have a criminal mark?" "I hear she's from Satellite." "I bet she stole an invitation to get in." Ruby wanted to teach them some respect, but before she could talk, a huge man from the line took the microphone from the announcer and began. "Listen here, everyone. Blake Belladonna has just as much a right to this tournament as the rest of us. What matters isn't who she is or where she comes from. It's what's in here!" He places a fist to his chest, obviously referencing his heart. "If none of you can see that, that's your problem."
A deathly silence falls over the crowd, unsure how to react to his speech. Once Cinder Fall starts clapping, however, everyone else joins in. Satisfied, the man returns the microphone to the announcer and goes back to his place in the line. "UH, THANK YOU, MR. RAINART! AS HE SAID, WE ARE ALL EQUALS HERE! SO LET THE FORTUNE CUP OFFICIALLY BEGIN!". Fanfare filled the atmosphere as the announcer explained that the first match would be between Hazel Rainart and Weiss Schnee. After the other contestants left to take their seats, The two entered the dueling area to begin.
"I will go first. I draw." Hazel says. "Then I activate Star Blast to pay any number of 500 life points and reduce the level of a monster in my hand by that number of 500 life points paid." (Hazel 4000-3500). "Now I can normal summon Summon Reactor – SK from my hand without tribute." A large dark-green machine appears (Level 4/2100). "I set one card and end my turn, returning Summon Reactor – SK's level to normal." (Summon Reactor Level 4-5).
Weiss, a girl in a white dress with a ponytail to the side, responds "My turn, then. I draw. For my summon, I choose the tuner monster White Glass Princess." A stained glass window suddenly appears, with the appearance of a princess holding a flower. The princess turns to face Hazel and steps out of the window, (Level 3/1500) "The effect of my Summon Reactor – SK activates. The first time you summon a monster each turn, SK deals 800 damage to you." The propellers on SK's shoulders spin, summoning a breeze that pushes into Weiss, (Weiss 4000-3200). "Then I shall respond with White Glass Princess's ability. When it is normal summoned, I can make a reflection of one of your monsters. Since you have only one, I choose your Summon Reactor." The princess waves her hands, magic energy glowing around them, before releasing the energy outwards. The energy shapes itself into the form of Summon Reactor. (Level 5/0)
"Then, I tune my level 5 White Glass token with my level 3 White Glass Princess. O knight of great strength and valor, remember your oath and slay my foes. Synchro Summon! Come forth, White Glass Marauder!" The princess and the token are tuned together and give way to a large suit of armor, carrying a giant axe. (Level 8/3000). "Marauder, attack Summon Reactor with shattering swing!" Weiss commands as the marauder obeys, charging forth, winding up to swing the axe at Summon Reactor.
Hazel remains calm, and states "On a turn I have used Summon Reactor – SK's ability, I can also negate one of your attacks." The machine once again summons a gust of wind with its propellers, but this time against Marauder, pushing it back. Weiss gives a look of frustration, but cools herself and resumes. "I set one card and end my turn." "I draw." Hazel tells her. "And I summon Trap Reactor Y – FI from my hand." A smaller machine appears, (Level 3/800). "I then activate the spell Riryoku, which will steal half of White Glass Marauder's attack points and add them to Summon Reactor." A sickly green energy flies toward Marauder, sucking out energy and absorbing into Summon Reactor, (Summon Reactor 2100-3600). (Marauder 3000-1500).
Weiss lets herself have a little smile at this. "A critical mistake. I activate my face-down White Glass Prison to hold your Summon Reactor in a prison of glass." A cage made of glass appears and Summon Reactor is enchanted with a white glow, drawing it closer to it. "Trap Reactor Y – FI activates its effect. The first time each turn you activate a trap, Trap Reactor destroys it and deals you 800 damage." Trap Reactor fires its guns at the cage, destroying it. (Weiss 3200-2400).
"Summon Reactor – SK, destroy White Glass Marauder, with strafing bombardment!" The machine hovers overhead, before releasing a bomb from its lower compartment. "I activate White Glass Window's effect. By special summoning it from my hand, an attack on my "White Glass" monster is redirected to it, and it's defense becomes equal to your monster's attack for this battle." Out of nowhere, a large stain-glass window appears with Summon Reactor's image. The image climbs out of the window, (Level 1/0-3600). The bomb hits the glass look alike, but it remains unscathed, (3600-0).
"Then I will activate my trap, Damage Summon. If my monster fails to destroy yours, I can pay 800 life points to summon a level 4 or lower monster from my hand. Come out, Spell Reactor – RE!" A third, dark-red machine appears (Level 4/1200) (Hazel 3500-2700). "Your mirror's defense points only match mine on the battle it was summoned for. So Spell Reactor, destroy that fake!" Spell Reactor releases the missiles from its hatch that fire towards the counterfeit Summon Reactor, destroying it completely. "I set one card and end my turn." (Summon Reactor 3600-2100) (Marauder 1500-3000).
"OHHH! HAZEL LETS FLY A DEVASTATING ASSAULT, BUT WEISS MANAGES TO NOT ONLY SURVIVE, BUT KEEP HER MARAUDER! CAN SHE REGAIN HER STRIDE?"
Weiss takes a moment to catch her breath. She can only guess that Spell Reactor acts the same as the other two, but for spells. This puts her in a bad spot; No matter what she does, she will have to get rid of all of them or she won't survive playing the rest of her cards, let alone what else Hazel has in store for her. Good thing White Glass Marauder survived. "I draw. And then I activate White Glass Marauder's ability. In exchange for it being unable to attack this turn, Marauder can destroy all monsters you control with less attack. White Crusade!" Weiss commands as Marauder swings its axe, releasing a horizontal beam of light that flies towards Hazel's monsters.
Hazel responds "I activate my face-down Delta Reactor to send my three reactors to the graveyard and special summon Flying Fortress – SKY FIRE." The three monsters separate and combine together to form one larger machine (Level 8/3000). The energy beam flies off, missing its target.
"AMAZING! HAZEL HAS BROUGHT OUT AN EVEN STRONGER MONSTER! AND SINCE THIS ONE HAS THE SAME ATTACK AS MARAUDER, IT ISN'T DESTROYED BY MARAUDER'S EFFECT!"
Weiss looks on the new monster with awe, before recollecting herself. "I end my turn." "I draw. I activate SKY FIRE's ability to discard one card and destroy one of your cards. Take her marauder down!" One of the bombs from SKY FIRE's chest releases and a jet stream starts from the back of it, firing directly towards Marauder, who shatters. "SKY FIRE, attack her directly. Sharp Shooting!" A large energy bullet fires from the cockpit and hits Weiss, wiping out her remaining life points and knocking her onto her back.
"SENSATIONAL! AND THE WINNER IS HAZEL RAINART!"
Hazel walks towards Weiss and lends her a hand. "You fought valiantly and with great honor." Weiss accepts the hand and is helped back up to her feet. "Thank you. Your dueling was a sight to behold." The two departed in the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship. At least, that was the dominant feeling. For Weiss, another feeling was trying to emerge that she had to shove down. Something she had done her best to suppress over the years that no-one else would understand and that she wanted to get rid of.
Elsewhere, in a lab overlooking a pillar of energy, Cinder asks a scraggly man in a lab coat, "Well, Zigzix?" "Definitely, Ms. Fall. There was a definite reaction from Weiss Schnee. She is, without a doubt, one of the signers you are looking for." Cinder walks away, pleased that her hunch was right. However, she felt unsatisfied that they didn't get to witness her other side. Oh, well. Time to improvise.
