Yu-gi-oh/RWBY Chapter 7.

White Glass

Ruby was starting to get worried. Weiss was looking more and more pale (well, paler) as the duel went on, and now she suddenly stopped and put her arms to her side, staring straight forward. Ruby looked around the stands, trying to find Whitley, but when she did, what she found wasn't better. He had that same thousand-yard stare, too. Roman, whom Ruby had dragged along to help her get Whitley to the stadium's medical center, was rather intrigued by this whole thing. Perhaps the Schnee twins were worth investigating.

Down in the Arena, Frank was ecstatic. Weiss had finally stopped fighting, and entered the spirit world, at least in mind. Now he simply needed a way for himself to follow her. Luckily, he was prepared. In his studies, Frank had learned of a certain meditative trance that was supposed to let one share the mental experiences of another. It was said to have some nasty side effects if handled improperly, though. He hoped it worked as he began the mental exercises.

Weiss was convinced. She had finally snapped. Gone cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Lost her marbles. Stopped playing with a whole deck. Whatever you wanted to call it, she had gone completely insane, now hallucinating that she was a queen in some fantasy kingdom. At least, that was what she was trying to convince herself, as though she couldn't feel the fabric of her new dress or somehow wield the sword and scepter in her hands with a proficiency she never had before. And she'd find a way to explain the new memories filling her head, she was sure.

One of the many from the crowd below her walked up the stairs and knelt down. "My queen, the monster is back. No matter how many times it is slain, it always returns. What must we do?" He pleaded. Somehow, Weiss knew what monster he was talking about. It had to be Ido, the monster from the duel she was currently in. She got up and descended the stairs, not tripping over the dress as though she was trained in wearing it all her life. Weiss approached one of the balconies, where several generals and advisors that she knew the names of for no good reason told her where the monster was coming from next and that it should arrive any minute now.

As she surveyed the forest, Weiss noticed something walking out towards the castle. Not the monster, but smaller. About the size of a man. It finally dawned on her. "Professor Frank?" He revealed himself, slowly clapping the whole time. "I believe we've finally made a breakthrough, Weiss Schnee. This place is most wondrous. I think Ido will love it here." Shortly after he said that, that familiar pattern of yellow emerged behind him.

"We may have switched venues, but this is still a duel, and now it's my turn. I draw!" Frank proudly declared. "And now I activate polymerization to fuse my Ido on the field with the Ego, the Supreme Magical Force and Supera, the Supreme Magical Force in my hand." Two other monsters appeared like Ido, one being a white outline and the other purple. The three began to dance around each other, getting closer and closer. "Id, Ego, and Superego dominate and complete the totality of the mind. With them on my side, I shall control all! Fusion summon! Freudian Hydra!" The three began to blur together now, before a bright flash made Weiss have to shield her eyes. When she could look again, it wasn't much better.

A ball of energy stood before Frank with a multitude of reptilian heads sprouting from it (Level 10, 0). "When Freudian Hydra battles, it can't be destroyed in battle, and neither player takes battle damage. It will also deal 1000 damage to the both of us at the end of each turn. Psycho-Chaos!" Frank commanded as the many heads opened their mouths. Out from the mouths flowed a dark-purple mist that carried through the air. The trees in the forest began to wilt and fade. As it reached the kingdom, many of the soldiers near the walls stepped back, not trusting the smoke. When it finally reached them, many choked and coughed on the smoke. Others simply stood there before drawing their sword and turning to Weiss. "Death to the false queen!" Some raced towards her, ready to attack. The generals formed a wall between the soldiers and Weiss. "Run, my queen. Hurry!" one advised.

Weiss didn't have to be told twice as she rushed back into the palace. This may be just a fantasy, but she didn't want to inhale that smoke, not knowing what would happen if she did. Once she got inside, she saw the crowd looking through the windows with a state of panic. Once again, she still assumed this was just her imagination running away with her. But, seeing those people look up to her and ask her what to do, Weiss couldn't resist at least playing along. "Everyone, get into the cellar, now." She didn't want to think about how she knew that this place had a cellar, but at least now she's bought some time to think. Okay, Weiss, think! He said that this is still just a duel. So, if that monster just dealt 1000 damage to both of us, that puts my life points at 500 and his at 1700. That's not good. If I don't find a way to get rid of that monster, I'll lose as soon as I end my turn.

Weiss looked over at the throne room, seeing a podium next to it with a crystal ball. Of course, White Glass Crystal Ball! I can use that to find some kind of answer. Weiss ran over to the throne and waved her scepter over it. "Come on, come on. Give me something good." Instead of showing her 3 cards to choose from, however, it showed a jail cell with a man in shackles inside. Weiss recognized who that was supposed to be. Is that White Glass Rogue? Why is he in a jail cell? Weiss then smacked her head at how stupid that question was. Duh. This whole world is based off my cards. Of course, a criminal is going to be in jail. She then started through the halls, deciding that the fake memories entering her head should finally do her some good as she knew where the jail was.

After finally descending down the many flights of stairs and reaching the dungeon, Weiss looked through each cell until she finally found the one she was looking for. The rogue looked up at her from his crouched position. He stood up and approached the bars. "Well, what's her highness doing down here with a thief like me?" "I need your help, rogue. There's a monster attacking outside, and you are the only one that can help." The rogue laughed. "Don't you have your precious army? What good would a no-good criminal do?" The walls and ceiling started to shake. After they both regained their footing, Weiss used her sword to break the bars. "The army is being corrupted by the monster's gas. I need someone who is already corrupt and thus immune to its effects." she explained.

The rogue stepped out of the jail cell and looked at Weiss with a mix of confusion and intrigue. "Really? Well, I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm not exactly a monster slayer." True, Weiss thought. He only has 1000 attack points. But… "The monster is controlled by a person outside. I need you to keep him distracted so the monster will lose control and betray him." The rogue scratched the stubble on his chin, then asked "What do I get in return for risking my life?" "A pardon," Weiss answered. "And a position as my new spy." The rogue turned towards the stairs and said "Sounds promising. I'll consider." As Weiss watched him hurry up the stairs, she hoped she made the right decision.

In the arena, Weiss's body moved mechanically, with little will of its own. "I summon White Glass Rogue." A stained glass painting appeared, showing a thief climbing up the tower. The thief used his rope to build up momentum and swing out of the painting into the arena (Level 2/1000).

Professor Frank was annoyed that his test subject continued to run away and deny what was happening around her, but he could afford to be patient. The hydra's gas would erode the stone away eventually, and then he'd have her all to himself. He didn't appreciate that he kept having to command the hydra not to eat him, however. It belonged to him, so it should obey him, dammit!

Finally, Frank noticed a figure walking through the pathway from the gate to the forest. "I knew you'd face the inevitable, my subject." He boasted. But as the figure got closer, he realized that it wasn't Weiss. It was some unscrupulous-looking man walking forward with a strange smile on his face. "You're not Weiss." The rogue continued to walk toward closer. "You've noticed" Frank didn't appreciate the attitude. No matter. The hydra would deal with him just as it would the rest. He pointed towards the approaching figure and a few of the heads lurched towards the intruder and spewed their gas in his direction. The rogue simply inhaled the gas and kept walking. "Smells like a nice summer breeze." he taunted.

Frank took a step back. This was impossible. The hydra's breath should be able to corrupt the minds of all mortals. But then he realized. Of course. This one is already corrupt. The gas can't affect him. He turned around and ran as far as he could. That is to say, he ran a few feet before tripping on a branch that fell from the damage caused by the gas. As he struggled to get up, the rogue grabbed his shirt and pulled him closer.

"White Glass Rogue can attack directly. Go, White Dagger Slash!" White's body commanded as the rogue dodged around the hydra to slice across Frank's body, which didn't react at all (Frank 1700-700).

"Her majesty says hello." the rogue said as he stuck a dagger in Frank's chest, then ran off. Frank cursed the rogue and Weiss as he fell to his knees. This didn't matter. He would still destroy the castle and still use Weiss's power to rule the spirit world. Wait. The hydra! But it was too late. As Frank turned to look, the hydra's many mouths were already on him, betraying their master.

Over in the castle, Weiss had returned to the throne room. She had noticed that her clothing had returned to normal, so she assumed that meant the duel was over. "Great. Now, I can get back to reality." "Before you do, my dear, I must ask one favor of you." Weiss turned to investigate where that came from. White Glass Queen approached her, the sword and scepter disappearing. Come to think of it, Weiss noticed that the castle was disappearing, too. It was being replaced by a white void. "I would like to thank you for repelling that awful man. Who knows what sort of damage he could have done. But I must ask you one more favor." The queen softly stated, while beckoning Weiss to follow her to the throne and the crystal ball. Weiss, having gotten desensitized to all of this, followed the queen, thinking that at least she might start getting some answers.

"The memories and experiences you felt during your visit here were not yours, but mine. I had to call you here to ask you for something." the queen explained. She waved her hand over the crystal ball and another vision appeared. This time, a gate appeared with numerous chains over it. Weiss couldn't tell what was behind the gate, but out of everything she had felt so far, it felt the most familiar. "Locked behind that gate is a dragon that you know from your previous visit to our world. We used to draw on its power and serve it in exchange, but it has been sealed away. Only you can free it, as only you know its name." Weiss turned to face the queen. "But, that was years ago. I barely remember a thing about that time." she protested. "You must remember, or our world, and yours, is doomed." The throne finally collapsed into the void, and Weiss fell, and fell, and fell.

"HOW UNSATISFYING! THE REDEMPTION MATCH HAS ENDED IN A DRAW! NEITHER PLAYER SHALL RETURN TO THE COMPETITION!"

Weiss woke with a start, seeing that she was back in the arena, and checked her duel disk. As she suspected, both of their life points were at 0. Freudian Hydra's effect must have finished us both off. At least I won't have to deal with that creep again. Weiss turned to see her opponent. He was surrounded by several staff members from the stadium, as he was completely comatose.

Whitley woke up with a bit of disorientation. He couldn't, for the life of him, explain why he was in a hospital bed with that girl Ruby Rose and some tall stranger in a white overcoat were hovering over him. "Whitley, you're okay" was the only warning Ruby gave before diving in to hug him. "What is the meaning of this? Where am I? Where's Weiss?" Whitley demanded. Ruby explained her side of the situation as best she could, while the stranger, who introduced himself as Roman, explained that he had been observing the duel all the meanwhile and told all of what they saw. Whitley got up, asking "Is she still there?" Ruby nodded, and that was all he needed as he rushed out of the room, trying to find his way back to his sister. I only hope something hasn't happened to her again.

Cinder, looking on, from her place above the arena, turned away somewhat pleased with the results. Not only did she confirm that Weiss did indeed possessed the ability to enter the spirit realm, but Professor Frank had done her the favor of disposing of himself so she didn't have to tie up any loose ends. It was all coming together.
