She stops and turns, gasping as she sees him so close to her. He looks down at her and Rey can't help but tremble from his height and from how he looks at her hungrily. Without a word, he reaches forward and gently takes one of her hands in his own. Rey sighs as she gazes back into his soulful eyes. Ben smiles at her softly and raises her hand to his lips.
"I know we've already talked about us being ok with this. But Rey, I…I have to get something off my chest," he breathes against her knuckles.
"I have something to say too. But I don't…I don't really know how to say it," she answers quietly.
They look at each other with a few beats of quiet between them. So much is sad in their looks as they draw closer to each other. The tension grows as the air between them thins with each inch they take to be in each other's spaces.
"I don't know how to say it either, other than I've never been so sure of how I'm feeling with anyone else before," Ben says in reply.
"I feel the same," Rey breathes, tipping her chin up towards him as their lips grow closer.
The phone rings suddenly, making them jump apart from one another. They look at each other shyly as they head towards the phone. Ben picks it up first and mouths the word "work" to Rey. She nods, but not before she's pulled into a hug by Ben. He smiles against her hair and kisses her tenderly on her flowy brown waves. Rey blushes and hugs him back before leaving to give him space for his call. They may not have said it out loud, but both of them now realize their feelings are reciprocated and real.
