Next day Acp went to HQ to start his formalities to join bureau back while DCP Pathak was heading the bureau. Daya too joined bureau as 2 cases were reported. Team wished him morning asked about Acp's health and started working. Though Daya found it weird that team was behaving little odd today. They were responding to him yes/no only and following his orders for the case and not talking about anything else with him. He was feeling that Team is angry on him about something but he let it go for a while. Whole day they were busy with cases. At night, Daya came to Abhijeet's house only as Acp was already there. They decided to live together for a while without even saying it out loud. Acp was in his room while Daya and Abhijeet were sitting on the couch in the living room. Abhijeet was cutting vegetables while Daya was having tea. While talking about today's case Daya said –
Lgta h team hmse naraaz h Boss… kuch baat hi nhi kisi ne case ke bina.
Abhijeet (laughing sarcasticly and unintentionally) – Team kb naraaz nhi hoti Daya.
Saying so, Abhijeet left from there picking up vegetables meanwhile Daya kept watching him going. Daya too knew that what Abhijeet said was unintentional. Abhijeet is not a person to complain about anything. These things come out unintentional that too when he is too hurt. Daya knew in the past one year team did not gel with Abhijeet too much and it has hurt him too much. Little did he know, Acp has heard them from room door as he was coming outside. He knew something was off with Abhijeet and team as he could decipher that from Abhijeet's face only.
Later that night, Abhijeet went out saying he has some work while Daya and Acp were sitting on the terrace and chatting while having coffee. While discussing various topics, Acp suddenly asked –
Daya tumhe pta kaise nhi chla k Abhijeet tumse itna kuch chupa rha h.
Daya (sad smile) – Pta nhi sir… sb kuch itna achanak hota chla gya k kuch smjh hi nhi paya main. Ya shayd maine koshish hi nhi ki. Abhijeet jb mission se wapas aaya aur usne aapke…(he stopped feeling the pain of those days) hum sb itna doob gye apne gam mein k kuch dekh hi nhi paye. Abhijeet HQ ke sath meetings krta rha… saare kaam akele smbhalta rha aur usne sbko apna dukh nikalne ka pura waqt diya. Salunkhe sir ki haalat bhi bhut khraab thi. Voh puri tareh se toot gye the. CID chodne ki zid pe aagye the. Lekin Abhijeet ne unhe rok liya.
Fr voh Rajat ko bureau wapas le aaya. Main kuch samajh hi nhi paya k ye sb ho kya rha h. Abhijeet ka Acp ki post accept krna, Rajat ko is tareh wapas lana, Team ke itna strict brhave krna… jb tkk usne khud mujhe aapke zinda hone ki khabar nhi thi. Uske baad bhi kitni sari baaten ab sochta hun toh lgta h k main is dosti mein fail hogya sir.
Acp Pradyuman – Esa kyu keh rhe ho Daya!
Daya (disappointed tone) – esa hi h sir. Aaj jb sochta hun toh lgta h k main Abhijeet ko kabhi nhi jaan paya. Aap jante h voh sb kuch pehle se soch smjh kr baitha tha. Usne kabhi Acp ki post ko accept hi nhi kiya tha.. jaise k use pta tha k voh Acp ki post pr zyada din nhi rehega toh usne bureau se apna desk nhi htane diya. Jb bhi case discuss krta that oh usi desk pr jaake baith jata tha. Usne voh desk kisi ko use nhi krne diya.
Ab jb sochta hunt oh sir smjh aa rha h k uska hr ek step calculated tha. Usne jaan boojh ke Rajat ko independently cases diye…use mere sath rkha k jb voh yahan na rhe toh hum dono ek sath theek se kaam kr paayen. Ye toh Pathak sir ne mamla sambhal liya sir vrna voh toh ye maan ke sb kr rha tha k iske baad voh CID ka hissa nhi rhega… aur mujhe kuch pta hi nhi chla.
Voh mujhse jhooth bolta rha Ashutosh se jhooth bolta rha k kahin hum dono ka career na barbaad ho jaaye…lekin
Acp Pradyuman – Lekin usne apne career ka ek bar bhi nhi socha… (with moist tone) Abhijeet… mujhse itna pyar kyu…
Daya (moist tone) – Sir aap bhi toh usse itna pyar krte h na… han aap dono hi khul kr kabhi jatate nhi pr krte toh h na…
Acp Pradyuman nodded. They chatted for a while and then left to sleep.
Next day whole team was in the bureau. There was no new case reported so the team was preparing old files and relaxing. After a long time, bureau's environment was lively. Pankaj and Freddy were cracking jokes others were laughing while Rajat was serving tea to everyone. Suddenly Daya came and there was silence for a moment. Daya noticed this but didn't react. Rajat silently forwarded tea to Daya which he took with a smile.
Daya said – Kya hua bhai… mere aane se itna sannatta. (naughty tone)Freddy… kya plan kr rhe the tum log voh bhi mere bina.
Freddy (laughed sarcastically) – Nhi sir…(stressing on) hum log kahan kuch plan kr skte the… actually sir hum juniors itne capable hi kahan h.
Daya (shocked) – Freddy! (sighing) Tum log galat soch rhe ho.
Rajat (sad smile)– hum log toh vhi sochte h sir jo aap chahte h.
Purvi (teary tone)– Sir hum sb itne saal se ek family ki tareh sath h… fr bhi aapne ek bar bhi sach btana zrori nhi smjha!
Daya – Purvi ye bhut gambhir mamla tha… hum log kisi ko kuch nhi bta skte the. Isme koi shaq nhi h k tum log is baat ko sambhal paate mgr hum log koi risk nhi le skte the… hum pr itne logon ki nazar hoti thi… HQ, kitne mujrim, sath kaam krne wale, bureau canteen wale…sb log. Kisi ko agr shaq bhi ho jata toh baat failne ka dar tha. Abhijeet ne khud mujhe 1.5 mhine baad sb btaya tha…
Dr. Salunkhe – lekin Daya tum dono km se km mujhe toh bta skte the na… main tum logon ki madad kr skta tha…
Agra aapko sach bta dete toh aapki mujhse nafrat na km ho jati.
Daya turned to the voice came from the door as they were sitting facing their back on the door while Salunkhe turned silent for a moment. Abhijeet was standing on the door with his hand in pocket and other on the door. He looked at Dr. Salunkhe in tease and came inside. Dr. Salunkhe said after a moment –
Nafrat km… Tumhe esa kyu lgta h k main tumse nafrat krta!
Abhijeet while coming inside and closing the door behind – Come on Dr. Salunkhe…itna toh hum dono ek dosre ko aur khaskr apne aap ko jante hi h.
While moving towards the water cooler – khair aapki nafrat toh fr bhi mere kaam hi aayi… DCP Chitrole aapki mafrat ke bhrose hi mujh pr shaq nhi kr ska!
He filled glass from the water cooler and drank it and placed the glass back.
Dr. Salunkhe – Lekin agr tum mujhe ek bar bta dete toh itna sb nhi hota na Abhijeet.
Abhijeet (sarcastic tone) – Bta deta! Kyu bta deta. Isliye k aap mujhpr bhrosa kren mere btane ke baad. Vrna toh aapko… kisi ko bhrosa nhi tha na.
Kyu Rajat! Daya tum logon ko DCP ke mujhpr nazar rkhne ya timeline wali baat nhi btata toh tum log bhrosa kr rhe the mujh pr.
(Turning towards Freddy) Freddy! Usse pehle toh tumhare dhyaan mein nhi aaya k shayd maine khana nhi khaya hoga (remember when Freddy placed a sandwich and coffee for Abhijeet in cabin).
With moisture in his eyes he smiled. Sach toh ye h k aap sbko jb tkk sach nab ta diya jaaye tb tkk aapko mujhpr bhrosa nhi ho skta.
Freddy (teary tone) – Sir please esa mt kahiye… voh Acp sir ki news se hum sb log itne dukhi…(interrupted)
Abhijeet – Aur main toh bhut khush than na!
(loud tone)…Tum logon ko andaza bhi nhi h Acp sir ki kya haalat thi. Main aur Ashutosh unhe khayi se aur us jungle se akele hathgaadi mein daal kr baahr tkk laaye the. Jb koi sahara nhi mil rha tha… na mobile mein network na aaspaas koi help. Unke sar se lagatar khoon beh rha tha
He stopped as his voice completely shivered with the last sentence. HE was looking at an indefinite point like reliving that dreaded past.
Daya came forward and put hand on his shoulder and said in a comforting tone – Abhijeet please… relax. While rubbing his arm to sooth him… dekho ab toh Acp sir bilkul theek h na… hmare sath h…
Abhijeet (still in tears) – Daya… us din ko bhool nhi pata hun main… aaj bhi meri rooh kaamp jati h voh din yaad krke k kaise hum log sir ko.
HE again stopped with a lump in his throat. He took a deep breath to control his overwhelming emotions and said – Aur fr ye sb km pd jata hmesha kyunki mujhe sbke saamne khud ko saabit bhi toh krna pdta h na….chodo yr… ye sb ek kbhi na khtm hone wala qissa h.
Saying so, Abhijeet left from there. Freddy came forward but stopped feeling guilty. Rajat turned his head down in guilt while Purvi and Pankaj wiped their tears. Daya just kept standing there feeling that he can't sooth his best buddy. He can't heal the wounds on his heart.
Little did they know, that Acp was standing on the other door and heard all. His face pained hearing all that. He came inside after Abhijeet left from there. He stood in front of Salunkhe with teary eyes. Team understood that he heard all.
Salunkhe was about to say something when Pradyuman stopped him and said – Kuch mt keh Salunkhe… jb maine khud uspe hr baar shaq kiya h… toh main aur kisi se kaise Umeed krlu k uspe bhorosa krle!
Daya – Lekin sir…hum sb ye koshish toh kr skte h na… k abse hum uspe ankh band krke bhrosa krle… koshish toh kr hi skte h na…
Freddy – Lekin kya Abhijeet sir hme maaf kr payenge.
Rajat – Voh hum sb ki tareh nhi h Freddy.. unka dil bhut bada h… voh hme maaf kr hi denge…koshish toh ye krni h k hum sb unki maafi ke layak bne.
