"You should probably focus on class, Hachiman-kun." I hear someone whisper into my right ear. "Hiratsuka-sensei looks one step away from throwing her podium in your direction, you know?"

With a quiet yawn, I pull my head off my desk and face the direction my teacher usually is. Instead of finding her by the chalkboard, I find myself staring her down as she stands at the side of my desk.

"Good morning, Hikigaya. Sleep well?" She sarcastically asks, loud enough for the whole class to hear, to which I shrug, uncaring of her attempt of putting me on the spot. "Meet with me after class." Not in the mood to preserve this whole spectacle, I just nod, allowing her to continue her lesson.

"Right. –Tobe, can you tell me wh-" Rolling my eyes, I rest my head on my hand.

"Fufufu~" Glancing to my right, I look on as a high-school girl giggles to herself as she watches my Modern Japanese Teacher put another student on the spot.

"Thanks for the heads-up." I sarcastically whisper to her, conveying my irritation in my tone.

"...Whose fault is that? Let this be a lesson to you, Hachi-man-kun~!" Rolling my eyes again, I continue my previous silence and pay attention for the remainder of the school day.

With the last bell of the day ringing, I pack up and start making my way out. "Huh? Wait for me!" Ignoring her, I slide the door open and head in the direction of the school entrance. "Hm? Hachiman-kun, you bad boy! When did you get so rebellious?" I hear her whisper into my left ear as she leaned onto me from behind, much to my discomfort and displeasure.

Clench.

Now in a more uncomfortable position, I feel my right shoulder get squeezed tightly. "Ah, Hikigaya. Where are you going? The teacher's lounge is that way." I hear Hiratsuka-sensei say to me, as she tightens her grip.

"Is it? I could've sworn it was over in that direction, and then some." I point in the direction of the entrance.

"Likely story." With her other hand, she grips onto my collar and starts dragging me in the actual direction of the teacher's lounge.

'Shit.' I curse my rotten luck.

"No cursing, young man!" She scolds right in my ear.

"Tsk, shut up."

"What was that, brat?"

'Damn it.' I just sigh. "Nothing."

Teacher's Lounge

Not in the mood for…I'm just not in the greatest of moods today, so I don't bother entertaining the moment of silence she's left between us. "So? What is it?"

"Watch your tone, brat."

"Stop calling me that, and I might." I cross my arms, staring her down once more.

"Tsk. Fine, whatever." She breaks our stare down once more, waving me off as she lights a cigarette.

"Should a teacher really be doing this here? Especially in front of a student." She practically voices my own thoughts. "Oh my gosh! I just realized her cigarette tray is filled to the brim with cigarette butts!"

"Oi, you may not care about your own health, but I care about mine."

"Hah?" She says, after exhaling a good of amount of smoke. Thankfully, not in my direction, but the god awful smell still invaded my nostrils.

"Have some shame, woman. Your a teacher, at least try to set a good example." I try to wave the smell away while pinch my nose closed. 'How am I the voice of reason here?'

"Pot meet kettle." She responds.

"Well, unlike you, I'm not in a position of authority." My words seem to go in one ear, and out the other.

"Hikigaya." She calls my name, her tone neutral, without any sarcasm or anger. "Why do you settle for mediocrity? I've seen your grades and the way you approach academics. You show up, sleep through most of your classes, and still somehow get seventies or eighties."

"You've been watching me?" I rub the back of my neck, unsure of how to feel about this. "I'm flattered, sensei, but I just don't see you that way."

"I'm being serious here, Hikigaya. I'm sure if you put in some effort, you'd be up there with Hayama." At the mention of the school's golden boy, I roll my eyes. 'Yeah, because I want to be compared with him.' I think sarcastically to myself, but she hears me too.

"Ooh, Sensei hit a sore spot! Don't worry, Hachiman-kun, I'll soothe your decrepit, broken heart!"

Ignoring the loud bug in my ear, I just shake my head. "You're wrong, I'd probably be the same, if not worse."

"Oh, yeah?" She raises an eye brow at me, obviously curious. "Why's that?"

"If I actually tried, I'd have to stop cheating, meaning I would have to use my insufficient knowledge."

"Bullshit."

"Language! I expect this from Hachiman-kun, not a teacher!"

"I told you, I've been watching you, and not once have you cheated on any tests or work in general."

"Again, I'm flattered, but no thanks."

"Hikigaya! I'm not joking here." Crushing her cig into the tray, she glares at me. "At least tell me why."

"I'm not joking either, it's not my fault my cheat sheet isn't perfect." I reply with a shrug.

"Hey!" She yells, offended. "I am perfect! You jerk." She tries pulling my cheek, but I slap her hand away, and I act like I was just waving her question off.

"Was that all?" I ask, glancing at the room's clock.

After a few more moments, she just sighs and waves me off. "Sure. If you won't tell me why, I can't force it out of you. Oh, and don't forget about the assignment that's due tomorrow."

"Hm?" I raise an eyebrow in question.

"The 'Looking back on Highschool Life', you know, from monday?" Giving her nod, she waves me off again.

Turning on my heel, I start to make my way out. "See you tomorrow, brat."

'This woman…'

Chiba Streets

"Man, I'm hungry…"

'How is that possible? You're a ghost.' I point out to her. With a switch of a color, I can finally cross.

"Am not! I'm just…incorporeal at the moment."

'For two years now? To quote Hiratsuka-sensei, Likely story.'

"Hmph! And, here I was going to invite you on a date."

'A date with a ghost? How desperate do you think I am?'

"Desperate enough to ask out a girl you barely knew." She remarks, trying to and successfully getting one over me.

'I told you that in confidence! Also, that was a little over two years ago, before we met.' I point out.

"Oh? So then you would have said yes before?"

'...Shut up.'

Stopping at the entrance of a saize, I peer into the restaurant chain with curiosity. The place itself wasn't necessarily the most popular place on earth, and for that I was grateful. There were only a few customers seated and even less in line ordering.

"Here? Again?"

The automatic door opens with a jingle as I walk in. Those in line had already finished ordering, so I was first and the only one in line to order. A tired worker, who looked just about ready to keel over, smiles and greets me like any other worker would. That is, a strained smile and a curt greeting.

I just gazed up at the menu, stalling for time. "Pizza Margarita is vegetarian, right?"

'You're not ordering a salad? That's a surprise.'

"I'm human too, you know? I get tired of eating a salad everytime we come here."

Looking back at the pitiful worker who I did not envy in the slightest, they looked back with growing impatience, so I made my order. "One pizza margarita, and…a chef's salad."

"Any drinks, dear customer?" They strain the dear part, and I don't blame them, there was nothing dear about me.

Glancing over to my…spiritual acquaintance, she just shrugs. "Two waters." My order makes an eyebrow raise, one I ignore as I pull out my wallet. I was paying them for the service and my food, not for them to get involved in my business.

With my change back in my wallet, I sit myself down at an isolated table in a corner. "Couldn't you have chosen a better place to eat? This table is so dark and dreary." She says, sitting across from me.

I don't give her a response, reaching into my school bag and pulling out a light novel. I'm unable to reach where I left off as it's pulled out of my hands and placed to the side. "Oi."

"Don't 'Oi' me. It's common courtesy for the boy to entertain the girl when out on a date."

"This is a date?" I scoff, slightly amused. "Between who exactly?" Feeling my foot start to get crushed under hers, I glare at her, unimpressed.

"You're hopeless, you know that?"

"No, I'm Hikigaya Hachiman." I state, matter-of-factly, before shooting her a shit-eating grin.

Now it's her turn to throw an unimpressed look my way. "A dad joke? Seriously? …Do better."

"Says the one who makes them the most." I point out.

"Yeah, but…Ugh!" She just groans, opting to just stare out the window instead.

We fall into a comfortable silence, as we do our respective things. That being reading for me, and people watching for her.

After spending basically every waking moment with her for the past two-ish years, we simply didn't have much to say to each other.

Trying to focus on the words written in the book, I just give up and put it back into my bag. Looking over to her, her green eyes flicker side to side as people appear, walk past, and disappear into a crowd. "Ghost, huh? You're not planning on bringing me to a temple any time soon, are you?" She asks jokingly, but…

Our food didn't take long to arrive, but I didn't bother saying another word for the rest of our…outing.

Hachiman's Room

Sitting at my desk, with a paper assignment in front of me. Glancing in her direction, I find her laying in my bed, playing on Vita-chan. "Oi. You can play later." Looking in my direction for a moment, she just goes back to playing. "Oi."

"I'm not perfect, remember?" Spiteful woman.

Reading the title of the assignment, I just sigh.

Looking Back On Highschool Life

Wonderful. That was sarcasm, by the way.

To Be Continued..?

Hello. Yes, yes, it's me. The guy who doesn't update The Zombie Apocalypse Is Wrong, As Expected. Or The Blind, Leading The Blind. Or The Genuine Route.

And for that I say…Teehee!

A ghost girl is accompanying Hachiman? Maybe? No, not really. She's not a ghost. Try to figure it out, and I'm sure you will soon enough.

As for who the ghost girl is…it's really obvious. Hint: She isn't an Oregairu character, and also not an OC. So she's from another licensed property. And the context clues I left in the chapter just make it glaringly obvious if you know this character.

This will eventually be moved over to the crossover section sometime later, maybe. I was shameless enough to leave The Blind, Leading The Blind in just Oregairu. So who knows?

I don't want to spoil much else so I'll end it here.

So, good night, or morning, or afternoon.
