Chapter 11

Kira strummed her guitar absentmindedly, looking out of the window as she tried to ignore the aching in her fingers and continued to play a song that she had recently recorded.

I'm so glad, you made time to see me
How's life? Tell me how's your family
I haven't seen them in a while
You've been good, busier than ever
We small talk 'bout work and the weather
Your guard is up and I know why

'Cause the last time, you saw me is still
burnt in the back of your mind
You gave me roses
And I left them there to die

So this is me swallowing my pride
Standing in front of you
Saying I'm sorry for that night
And I go back to December all the time
It turns out freedom aint nothing but missing you
Wishing I'd realised what I had when you were mine
And I go back to December all the time

She smiled as she looked around the room, thinking about Tommy. He had spent every day in the hospital room with her, keeping her company through the weekend and only leaving to sleep and go to work, which was where he was now. They had spent a lot of time catching up and talking about the past 4 months, and Kira felt like she had a weight lifted off of her shoulders.

"That's beautiful." A voice said as she stopped playing and stretched her fingers. She turned her head a smiled at Sarah as she walked into the room with a trolly.

"Hey. You here to disconnect me?" Kira asked with a smile, making Sarah laugh.

"Yep. The flush is done and you are officially allowed to leave." She said, disconnecting the lines from her PICC line and disposing the bags in the bin attached to the trolley. "Well, once I change the dressings on your line." She laughed.

"Can I run to the toilet first?" Kira asked with a sheepish look. "I didn't want to unplug the pumps cause they didn't have a lot of battery left."

"Go for it. I'll get the new dressings ready." She replied, starting to open packages. Kira jumped up and ran to the toilet, sighing as she didn't have to drag a pole around with her. She was just washing her hands when she heard the door open and Sarah make a scared yell.

"Oh my god!" She heard Sarah scream, making her jump and open the door, freezing at what she saw. A Tyrannodrone was in the hospital room and stalking towards Sarah, who was trying to keep the trolly in front of her as she backed away. Kira looked around and grabbed the shoe that was in front of her, throwing it at the Tyrannodrone, which froze as it bounced of its head.

"Hey Ugly." She snapped, jumping over the bed. Before the Tyrannodrone had time to react, she kicked its chest and sent it flying out of the open window. Kira could hear screams and shouts coming from the corridor and shared a look with Sarah. "Lock the door." She said, making Sarah rush to do as she said. Kira turned the lights off and pulled Sarah away from the door, making sure neither of them could be seen through the window.

"What is going on?" Sarah asked, only for Kira to put her finger to her lips and crouch down next to the door, listening to what was going on in the corridor. Someone tried the door, but moved away when they found it locked. There was silence for a moment and Kira shared a look with Sarah.

"Are you alright?" She asked, Sarah giving her a scared nod. "Stay here and don't let anyone in until I come back."

"What are you doing?" Sarah asked, worried about her patient.

"These things attack Reefside all the time. I've learnt a few things." Kira said, quietly opening the door and sneaking into the corridor. She couldn't see anyone, but she could hear voices coming from the common room down the corridor. The room was equipped with a pool table, a small kitchen area, TV and large corner sofa and allowed the patients staying for multiple days somewhere to relax out of their rooms. Kira crept down the corridor and came to a stop outside of the door, glad to see it open. She peeked into the room and put her finger to her lips as another patient saw her.

"Hurry up." A voice snapped, making Kira's eyes narrow as she spotted the Cyborg in the room. "The signal from her gem is coming from this ward. She is here somewhere. Find her." Zeltrax snapped, making Kira start before she moved away from the room. She ducked behind the reception desk next to the room as she heard a few Tyrannodrones begin searching rooms again. Kira raised her wrist and pressed the button on the communicator that would alert the others she needed to talk.

"Kira?" She heard Hayley reply after a moment, making her sigh in relief.

"Hayley, I need you to get the guys to the hospital, now." She whispered, trying to keep her voice down. "Zeltrax is here with Tyrannodrones. I think he's looking for me."

"What? How?" She replied.

"I don't know, but I think he's found a way to track my gem." She replied, lifting her head up slightly and seeing the corridor empty again. "Just get the guys here as fast as you can." She cut the communication and snuck back over to the common room, grabbing an IV pole and detaching it from the wheels as she went.

"She has to be here." She heard Zeltrax snap as she snuck into the room. Zeltrax and the Tyrannodrones had their backs to her and the patients and nurses on the ward were facing her, staying quiet when she put a finger to her lips. "Check their wrists!" The Drones started grabbing their wrists and Kira realised they were looking for her gem. She snuck up behind Zeltrax, glad that she was wearing slippers and wasn't making any noise.

"Hey." She snapped, making Zeltrax turn to see her, just as she swung the IV pole, hitting him hard in the head and making him fall to the side. "This is a hospital. Show some respect."

"Get her." Zeltrax snapped, making Kira slip into a fighting stance as the Tyrannodrones rushed towards her. She used the IV pole like a staff, using it to land hits on the Tyrannodrones and to support her weight as she swung around it to land multiple hits. A Tyrannodrone tried to grab her, making her roll sideways over the pool table next to her, grabbing a Tyrannodrone and throwing it into the others as she landed.

"Catch me if you can." She snapped, running out of the room and out onto the balcony connected to the ward. As she predicted, the Drones and Zeltrax followed her, allowing her to keep them away from the other patients and nurses. "Come on then." She snapped. The Tyrannodrones ran at her and she flipped over one, grabbing its shoulders as she did and putting all of her strength into throwing it over her head and into the others, leaving the 10 Tyrannodrones on the floor and Zeltrax in front of her.

"You are coming with me." Zeltrax snapped, stepping towards her. She was about to swing the IV pole again when Zeltrax was suddenly hit by 2 lasers, making him stagger back. Kira turned her head as Conner and Ethan stopped on either side of her, both morphed and holding their Thundermax Blasters in front of them.

"She's not going anywhere, Zeltrax." Conner snapped, him and Ethan stepping slightly in front of Kira as she sighed in relief, lowing the IV pole to her side.

"You Rangers always get in my way." Zeltrax hissed, making Kira tense. "You can't protect her forever!" He growled before an invisiportal opened and he and the Tyrannodrones disappeared.

"Perfect timing." Kira said, shaking her head slightly as she realised how out of breath she was.

"Kira?" Ethan called as he looked at her before jumping forward and grabbing her as her legs gave way. "Woah! I've got you."

"Let's get her inside." Conner said, making Ethan nod as they both put an arm over their shoulders and helped her inside, knowing she would kick off if either of them decided to pick her up and carry her.

"Kira!" A voice called, making them look up as a couple of nurses ran towards them.

"Where's her room?" Conner asked, making the nurses lead them into the room, leaving to grab a blood pressure cuff as they helped her into a chair. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. Just need to get my breath back." She panted, giving them looks. "You two need to get out of here."

"We can't leave if Zeltrax is waiting for you to be alone." Ethan protested.

"Tommy will be here soon. How is it going to look if two Power Rangers refuse to leave?" She asked, making them share looks. "I'll be fine. I just need to wait for the nurses to change my bandages and be happy that my heart rate isn't too high."

"We'll meet you at the lab." Conner said before the two left, jumping off the balcony and getting on their Raptor Cycles.

Xxx

Tommy sighed as the last student left the room for the day. He was about to check his emails when his communicator went off. He looked around the room as he stood up, closing the door to the room before raising his wrist.

"Go ahead." He said.

"Tommy, you need to get to the hospital." Conner said, making Tommy frown.

"Why? What's going on?" He asked, hoping that Kira was alright.

"Ethan and I have just had to go there in morph." He said, his voice tight. "Zeltrax was looking for Kira."

"What?" Tommy breathed.

"She kept him and the Tyrannodrones busy until we got there. But we had to leave. We couldn't stay while morphed." He said as Tommy grabbed his phone, keys and bag.

"I'm on my way. I'll meet you guys at the lab when she's been discharged." He cut the connection and hurried to his car. He drove as quickly as he could to the hospital without being pulled over and parked in the first space he found. He quickly rushed through the hospital and up the stairs, only pausing at the entrance to the ward as he waited for someone to buzz him in.

"Kira! Are you alright?" He asked as he walked into her room, seeing her sat on the bed with a blood pressure cuff on her arm and a heart monitor on her finger.

"Hey, I'm fine." She said, giving him a kiss as he sat next to her.

"What happened?" He asked, looking at the nurse that was sat in front of Kira, changing the dressing on her PICC line.

"Those monsters the Power Rangers fight showed up and started rounding people up." Sarah said as she cleaned the area around the line. "Kira was amazing. She fought them and kept them busy until the Rangers showed up."

"You did?" Tommy asked, giving her a look.

"Don't give me that look." She said with a slight smirk. "You taught me how to fight. I wasn't just going to sit back and do nothing."

"Is she alright?" He asked, looking at Sarah as she stuck the new clamp to Kira's arm and clamped the line in place.

"Her heart rates gone back to normal and her blood pressure's normal." Sarah replied as she finished dressing the line. "I'm happy to send her home."

"Thanks Sarah." She said with a smile as she pulled a bandage on her arm to prevent the line from hanging loose and getting caught on anything. "Am I seeing you for blood tests next week?"

"Yes. I'll text you with the dates." She replied before leaving the room, leaving Tommy and Kira on the bed.

"Kira…" Tommy started, only for Kira to shake her head.

"Not here." She muttered, grabbing her guitar and laptop bag. "We'll talk about it at the lab." Tommy nodded and grabbed the bag off the bed before putting an arm around her waist as they walked out. They got her stuff in the Jeep and Tommy drove them back to the house, both looking around as if expecting something to jump out and attack them.

They pulled up to the house and grabbed Kira's bags and guitar, dropping them in the living room before heading down into the lab, seeing Conner, Ethan, Trent and Hayley waiting for them.

"Kira? Are you alright?" Hayley asked as they waked down the stairs.

"Yeah, I'm fine." She replied. They could all see the bags under her eyes and knew she was tired. Tommy led her to the sofa and they sat down, Tommy keeping her hand in his.

"What happened?" Trent asked, making her sigh.

"Zeltrax was looking for me." She said, making them frown. "I was in the bathroom and managed to kick the Tyrannodrone that came into the room out of the window. I snuck into the common room and Zeltrax had rounded up all of the patients and staff and started checking their wrists."

"How do you know he was looking for you?" Hayley asked.

"He said that the signal from my gem was on the ward." She said, making them share looks.

"He can track our gems?" Conner asked, looking at Tommy.

"He found the lab before. Maybe he found a way to track the energy signature from our gems." Tommy replied, a frown still on his face. "I still don't know why he was looking for you Kira."

"Maybe he thought she'd be weak since she was in hospital." Trent suggested, making Conner shake his head.

"When we got there, he said we couldn't protect her forever." He said, looking at Hayley.

"Whatever it is, we're not going to let him win." Hayley said with a determined look.

"You guys can't be with me all of the time." Kira said, only to sigh at the looks they gave her. "No! Not happening!"

"Kira, we can keep you safe." Ethan said, regretting his words when she turned her glare on him.

"I may not be 100%, but I can still look after myself." She said. "Besides, you all have your own lives. Tommy, Hayley, you both have work. Conner, you have your soccer, and you know what will happen if you miss a game, or even practice. And Ethan and Trent, you both have college."

"But Kira…" Trent started.

"No buts! The security in here is better than ever, and I can still morph. I'll just tell Tanya that I'll do my recordings here and send them to her." She said.

"There's no point in arguing, is there?" Tommy asked, making her smirk.

"Nope." She replied.

"Fine. Guys, there's nothing to do now. Go home and relax. You too Hayley." He said and they all nodded, leaving Kira and Tommy alone. "I hope you don't mind, but since you said you'd move back in here, I asked the guys to move your stuff over from the flat."

"Well, I guess that saves me one job." She laughed, fighting back a yawn.

"Come on. You can go lay down and I'll get dinner ready." He said as they walked up the stairs, both glad to have their relationship back.
