Taking Matters into my Own Hands
I madly opened the door to my room and slammed the door. Stupid Dad! Why can't he take me with him to venture into the unknown? Does he not think I can handle it? I'm a Clade; adventuring is in my blood! I'm 16, not a little kid anymore. I can handle it. Ugh! This is just so frustrating! I sat on the edge of my bed.
I then looked at the picture frame of Diazo on my nightstand. I grabbed it and looked at it. Oh, Diazo. If I went on this expedition, I would have told you of all the cool stuff that I discovered! But, no. Dad had to ruin it for me and ordered me to stay home while he went on the expedition with Grandpa's former expedition teammate and president of Avalonia. Parents ruin everything!
I looked out the window. The airship was still there in our backyard. I got up from my bed, and went to the window, still clutching onto the picture frame of my crush.
I then thought of something. No! I'm not going to stay behind and miss out going to the unknown. Dad might not want me to and just wants me to protect me by ordering me to stay behind, but this is my life, not his. I'll show him that his son, Ethan Clade, can handle danger. If I can bravely come out to my parents. I can do this too.
I looked at the picture frame again and blushed. I'll show you too, Diazo. Once I do this and come back a hero, you will love me for it! We'll go out on dates, you become my boyfriend and we'll go to future school dances, including junior and senior proms. We'll graduate and if I'm really lucky, maybe go to the same college. It'll be perfect!
I then snapped out of the dream. I had to act fast! The Venture could fly off at any minute. I packed everything that I wanted or needed, including Primal Outpost (It might be a long trip, so we might want a game to play to kill the time). I unlocked the window, and snuck outside. I carefully walked on the roof and I saw the grassy ground down below. I gulped. Okay, Ethan, you can do this! It's for you, your family, the future of Pando, and Diazo. No pressure! I took a deep breath and took the jump.
Once I got up from the ground, I ran to the spaceship. I then heard barking and stopped. Oh no! I looked, and there was Legend. The big dog bounded towards me on his three legs. Once he was close enough, he attacked me to the ground to lick me all over. I couldn't help but laugh, but then I remembered my mission. I stood up and pushed him back gently.
"Legend," I told him softly so nobody else could hear. "Not now. This isn't the best time. You need to go back to the house before Mom finds you gone and finds me gone. We don't need her to worry about the both of us." But Legend couldn't understand me, so he licked me again. I was annoyed. I didn't want to do this to him, but I had to. "Legend, I'm serious. I can't take you with me." But then I heard voices and footsteps coming closer to the spaceship. I gasped. Dad and that other lady were coming! I ran onto the ship to hide.
Once on, I saw that Legend had followed. Of course he followed. I loved my dog with all my heart, but he can be pretty dumb.
"Okay." I told him. "You can come along. Just be quiet and no barking. Remember, we're not supposed to be here. Now come! We need to hide." I ran off with Legend bounding after me.
As soon as we found a hiding spot, the ship took off. I made it just in the nick of time! I never expected to bring the family dog along, but I'm just glad that I made it. Legend began his barking. I quickly placed my hands over his muzzle, and he stopped.
"Quiet, Legend!" I shushed him. "We don't want to be caught."
I walked towards the side of the ship and looked over the side. Whoa! I'm on the Venture! I couldn't believe it! I'm on the exact ship that Dad took with his dad, my granddad, over two decades ago, Diazo is not going to believe this! I saw that Legend was next to me, looking out on his hind legs with his tail wagging.
"Come on, Legend." I said. "I want to go and explore the ship!" I went off, again with Legend following. I could have ordered Legend to stay and continue to hide, but I couldn't risk it. This way, I could keep my eyes on him.
We explored the whole ship (the ship wasn't very big.) We even explored parts of the inside (not the control room where people would be. I wasn't stupid). I made sure that Legend and I weren't seen by anybody.
Suddenly, as soon as Legend and I were back outside, we heard a voice.
"Hey, you!" The voice shouted out. "You and your big mangy dog aren't supposed to be here!" I looked and saw a lady. I gulped. Oh no! Busted!
"Run, Legend!" I ordered him. The dog ran and so did I. Unfortunately, the lady caught me by grabbing me by the arm. Someone else caught Legend. I was in deep trouble. I knew that this was coming. My captor looked at me.
"Hey, aren't you Searcher's son?" She wanted to know. I nodded.
"Yep, that's me, Ethan Clade." I pointed at Legend who struggled to get free from his captor's grip. "And that's our dog, Legend."
"Well, I'm bringing you back to your father. Kids and dogs aren't allowed on this expedition. It's going to be dangerous. You are in deep, deep trouble, young man." I sighed.
"I know."
"Ethan?" Dad asked as soon as he saw me when the lady let me go. I laughed nervously and waved at him with a grin.
"Hey, Dad." I just said to him,
