The power of her arm hitting him was enough to cause the air to shift their hair and a sound echoed in the sparring room they were in. Byakugan staring right into Sharingan as they worked on her speed. The fact that she hit his arm caused a broad smile to form on her face, a smirk on his as they paused their session for a moment. Hinata had finally managed to hit Sasuke, though she knew he wasn't going as fast as he could, but was getting there slowly with each time she was able to hit him. It had been like this since their marriage, sparring and Sasuke working on her speed, stamina, or reflexes. Today was strictly speed and now that her second to be proud was over, they were back to it. Yet again, his speed picked up and she was back to attempts that were blocked or dodged entirely.
Hinata was always impressed with the speed of those on Team 7. While she knew each team had their own missions and faced their own battles, there was evidence of the gap that Team 7 left. Team 10 would have been the closest one to reach them, but even that felt like a significant gap unless you focused on Shikamaru. Looking at the person she was married to, she knew that the only person that could ever reach his level was Naruto. The loss of his limb and Naruto's own bandaged one was proof of that. So, Hinata had to remind herself that any improvement she could make would be a step in the right direction. Her speed had improved entirely and she was curious how she would be against her own teammates. The idea gave her the confidence to up her game with Sasuke at that moment.
She could make out his chakra pathways, seeing the steady flow that held so much power. Hinata had yet to be able to block a pathway, but she could see each spot that a single touch would slow him down in some way. Her lips parting as she continued to hit him, his arm blocking her at the forearm or he would move out of the way in time. He shifted his torso when she used her right leg to kick at his left side, her attempt to get him in a weak spot that always managed to amuse him. The wind from her leg pushed his clothing into his skin as if a strong wind gust had pushed along his side. Grabbing a kunai, she made a lunge for him to only have his forearm block her own, their faces inches apart. Their lips were parted, breathing faster, she could feel the puffs of breath coming from between his own lips.
It reminded her of the kiss they shared and there was hesitation in her movement. It wasn't the first time that they had gotten this close, but the tension continued to build. Her body responded to his presence, to see his red and purple eyes darkening slightly. She licked her lips, feeling as if they were drying, and she watched his eyes dart down to watch the movement just as she did it. No doubt his Sharingan picked up the movement seconds before her tongue made contact. Her top teeth gripped her bottom lip slightly, pulling the skin into her mouth for just a moment. A feeling of desire pooling between her thighs shifted her senses. She could smell his natural scent and slight perspiration. The feeling of his breath over her lips seemed much more heavy. She swore she could hear his heart beating to match the rhythm of her own. His hair framing his face, shifting slightly with each breath he took. She took everything in that short moment they gave each other.
Dark lashes framing his eyes, the color of them so dark, yet vibrant, spoke to her in ways she couldn't begin to describe. In that moment, she could picture her younger self watching him from a distance, too shy to come to him like the other girls could. Unsure of how to proceed and trying to convince herself to do just that. The moody boy that had so much potential and promise just as his brother did. She didn't know Itachi well, but the stories of how amazing he was was something almost everyone knew, even after his involvement with the Akatsuki. Sasuke no doubt had to be on par with him now. The Rinnegan in his eye proof enough of what he went through to get this far. And she damned herself for wanting him as much as she did when she needed to focus on battle. It wasn't like before when they didn't have this tension that halted their training sessions like this. They got close, and while she would take that moment to appreciate the closeness, it was nothing like this.
They jumped away from each other at the same time, stretching the tension that had settled between them until it snapped like a thin string. Battle focus faces back on as they ran at each other and continued forward with her training. Thankfully, that moment between them didn't happen again and soon enough her training was over. They made their way down a long hallway, large enough for several people to walk side-by-side comfortably. Hinata planned to go back to the history book she had found in a library. Reading stories of the world that should have been, but she could admit that she was thankful things changed. As Sakura had been looking with her, they both noticed that the two of them seemed to be obscured by the spouses they had married to and being the mothers of two clans that were nearly over. Sakura had stated she planned to make a name for herself, though they had found her contributions in medicine during her lifetime. Hinata found that she had merely become a housewife and had nothing to really say for herself.
It was something she had considered as fighting had been what she was against. Naruto's way with words to cause those to settle back from a fight had been what she desired. Yet, as she was training with Sasuke, she realized that she didn't want that life. She had the chance to make a name for herself in her current life and she needed to find her own calling. Maybe she could join Sakura in medicine and allow her Byakugan to help in the future. The idea felt right as she continued on her trek back to their room. Making a mental note to talk to Sakura about it at a later time, she found herself facing the door that led to the room she was sharing with Sasuke as he opened it. Once she closed the door behind her, she felt that tension return, the room seeming to feel somewhat smaller and Hinata wasn't sure how to feel about it. Their relationship was still developing, so to her it seemed that she needed to slow down and allow it to bloom. Yet, they were married and had been for a bit, so anything they did were well within what she had been raised to feel.
He had sparred with her without his usual cloak or poncho, and she had been able to see him without a shirt, but this felt different. He was removing his long sleeved shirt, the clothing seeming to whisper against his skin as he removed it. Hinata felt her mouth go dry this time, finally taking true notice of the muscles that flexed underneath his pale skin. It was then that she saw him glance over at her and a smirk form on his face. He knew she was staring! Hinata nearly huffed at him for what he was doing until he reached down to begin unbuttoning his pants. Even the sound of the zipper slowly moving down didn't tell her to turn her happy ass around not stare. When his dark pants began their descent towards his ankles, Hinata could not move a single muscle in her body and she took in the muscular legs his boxers didn't cover. She could feel a blush on her face, her entire face felt warm as he turned to her then. He was in nothing but his boxers and she couldn't remove her eyes. Even seeing what was left of his left arm managed to add to his already attractive features and her body begged her to go to him.
As if understanding her dilemma or simply reading her mind, he walked toward her and reached out to touch the high collar on her ninja attire. His fingers found the zipper that held it together, his fingers moving over it as if to simply feel the smooth metal between his them. He then moved his hand down toward the large belt around her waist and stomach. It was only then that she realized how much it emphasized the size of her bust and she blushed further, attempting to say something, but nothing came from her parted lips. She felt his fingers swiftly move until the purple-gray belt hit the floor around her feet and only then did she know where this was going. And every part of her but that tiny voice begged him to continue as she stared right into his mismatched eyes. Toeing off her boots and shoving them away, it was the only thing she could manage without his help, without him nudging her in that direction.
When his arm went around her waist, their lips met and she let out the whimper she had been holding in. Arms immediately moved around his neck as he deepened the kiss, her lips parting so that his tongue could sweet itself between them. She felt his arm move down, mindful not to really touch her yet as his hand moved behind her right thigh. Taking the hint, she jumped up and wrapped her legs around his waist, using her arms around his neck to keep her held up as he moved her so her back was against the wall near the door. The kiss seemed to get more intense, pressure and movement heightened as she then felt a hardness between her legs that caused moisture to pool there. Yet again he seemed to read her mind as he moved his hips to press his erection up against her and Hinata moaned into his mouth. When he did it again, she felt him shift against her clit and it set off an intense feeling of pleasure right through her. Before she had time to really succumb to where this was leading, a knock sounded on their door. Sasuke groaned and placed his forehead against her shoulder.
"Who is it?" Hinata called out, pleased she did manage to sound more calm than she thought she would.
"Sakura. We need the two of you in the lab."
"We'll be there in a minute." Hinata responded and paused to hear Sakura's footsteps move away from the door before she released a sigh. "I need to go clean up."
Sasuke sighed and released her so that she could find her footing on the floor. Once both feet were able to touch the floor, she felt how wobbly they were and held onto him to steady herself. Her fingers clenched slightly against his neck before she dropped them down to her side. Leaning her head back against the wall, she began to chuckle at how she had been open to really doing this with him only for the universe to decide that it wasn't time. Sasuke merely lifted a brow at her amusement, but she noticed the slight twitch of his lip. It was amazing how much one could recognize when they got to know someone. Sasuke wasn't one to broadcast how he was feeling, but he did have things that she took notice to show his mood. Granted, he still had a way of hiding it from even her, but seeing that slight twitch told her he was just as amused by the situation as she was. Or merely amused by her reaction to it. Leaning up, she planted a soft kiss on his lips and gave him a smile.
"I'll be out there a little later." Sasuke responded, stepping back to let her go.
Just as she took a few steps toward their bathroom, she felt his fingers move to circle around her upper arm, halting her movement. A moment later he turned her to face him, eyes seeming so intense and showcasing an emotion she was uncertain with. Without more time to question his motives, he pulled her closer and planted a kiss on her lips that she instantly returned without thought. Reaching up to cup the side of his face, she kissed with as much intensity as he was giving until he broke away from her. Looking up into his eyes, she could still see that same intense emotion in them that was directed solely at her.
"I want to finish what we started when we get back." He said, voice neutral as his eyes searched for her own feelings.
Hinata paused for a moment, feeling that hazy feeling from their makeout session begin to dissipate. Shouldn't sex be with someone that you have strong feelings for? That's what she had always pictured for herself when giving herself to someone. Yes, she had been considering it given that she had no doubt everyone else around her had already joined this. Yet, having that moment to think clearly, she knew that was what she wanted with him. She couldn't speak for him, but she knew she had strong feelings for him, but she couldn't say with certainty that those feelings were love. She had had those feelings for Naruto for a long time and while she knew it wasn't the love she'd have for Sasuke, it was enough to give her an idea of what to expect when it happened.
"Sasuke-kun, while I don't mind our makeout sessions, I feel we should wait on the 'more' part of this." Hinata finally said, anxiety spiking as she was talking to him. "I want to be in love with the person I'm with in that way."
He seemed to study her for a moment, as if allowing her words to sink in as he tested how honest they were. Hinata had no doubt that Sasuke knew she was being serious based on how his eyes softened as her words continued to settle. He gave a nod of understanding and a smirk before he went back to their bed to grab clothes. Hinata chuckled before heading to the bathroom for a cleanup. No doubt that anyone who may have heightened senses would smell her arousal and she blushed at the thought. Once clean, she looked in the mirror to see that her cheeks were only slightly pink now, eyes bright. Sighing, she left the bathroom and glanced over to see Sasuke had fully dressed and seemed to be back to his normal self.
"Let's go." He said, voice calm and neutral yet again.
"What is taking them so long?" Sakura asked, looking into the microscope as she looked over the cells taken by the two in the room.
"Probably caught them fucking." Masaru said calmly.
Naruto choked on the water he had been drinking, coughing and softly punching his chest to clear his airways. Sakura's eyes widened as she glanced over at the man in question who looked as calm as ever, as if he didn't just share something so vulgar. It wasn't as though she and Naruto had not indulged themselves in such activities, but it was different to talk about it with such indifference. Sakura didn't dwell for very long on the idea, having moved on from the person she had chased to divert those feelings to the one that had chased her. Her thoughts went back to what they were working on now that Orochimaru had made a small antidote to test on smaller cells. Sakura needed someone with a Byakugan to see if there was anything she was missing. It was then that the doors opened and both Hinata and Sasuke entered, neither looking as though they had been busy. In fact, both looked calm as they approached the counter.
"Things progressed at a much faster rate than predicted. And with the changes I've seen, I feel safe allowing the two of you to look into this." Orochimaru explained. "That's why I had Sakura look first, but I need your Byakugan to see what we cannot."
Sakura motioned Hinata over and together they looked it over, veins around Hinata's eyes as she gazed into the microscope. Hinata had pulled her hair into a bun, so the strands didn't get mixed in with anything they were working on. Sakura noted that it was one of the few times she missed having long hair but knew that her short style was preferable considering the work that she did in the hospital. Hinata leaned back, brows furrowed and Sakura worried that it wasn't working. However, she then leaned back to take a second look, a frown forming on her lips before she finally leaned back and looked over at Sakura.
"It's working, but I'm not sure how to explain it." Hinata's index finger began tapping on the counter beside the microscope as she thought over what she was about to share. "I can see the parasite becoming dehydrated by the antidote, but I would say it's also affecting the chakra."
"How so?" Sakura asked, eyebrows raised.
"The chakra is mutating at a rapid rate." Hinata said, looking back into the microscope. "The chakra you have in here is blue, but what I'm seeing is a shift in color. It's going from blue to a green color."
"Mutating." Sakura frowned. "Why would it mutate the chakra?"
"Could be to allow the chakra to be immune to the parasite." Sasuke added, looking between the two of them.
"Interesting, indeed." Orochimaru chimed in. "Let me get this to another microscope that should allow us to see what Hinata is seeing."
Hinata and Sakura took a step back as he collected the sample and brought it to a microscope that was attached to a computer by a simple cord. Sakura glanced over to see that the veins around Hinata's eyes were receding, leaving smooth skin. It was similar to the Sharingan in that Sakura had always been curious about them and would have enjoyed seeing what Hinata and Sasuke were able to see. A project displayed the computer's screen on a larger scale so everyone could see.
Sure enough, there was a slow progress of the chakra's color changing just as Hinata had expressed. Orochimaru had his computer run a few tests from the sample to showcase if they could identify what was happening to the chakra. The parasite was no longer moving, and it appeared to be that the chakra was shifting as if to overwhelm it. They watched as the green chakra began to shift, the parasite beginning to dissolve as if acid had been planted inside. The look on Orochimaru's face was curious as he grinned.
"Does this mean that the chakra of those immune to it are already doing this if the parasite does come in contact with them?" Sakura asked, the doctor within her excited about the prospect.
"Sakura, I would say you are correct." Orochimaru responded, his gaze focused on the screen before them. "However, we need someone immune in order to test that theory by extracting a small amount of their chakra and testing it to see if their chakra does, in fact, do this."
"Which is where you four come in." Masaru added, looking over at them. "We know of a village several miles away from here where those who appear to be immune are hiding. It's a lot harder to get in as they want to avoid allowing the affected to get inside. Though, I doubt the four of you will have an issue."
"You want us to kidnap one of them?" Naruto asked, eyes widening slightly.
"You want to help us save the future? A possible future that your offspring will come across. You bet that is exactly what we are asking." Masaru shrugged. "Though, you each need to be careful and not be seen."
"Is there a specific reason?" Naruto asked, glancing between Orochimaru and Masaru.
"Your son is still alive, Naruto and Hinata." Masaru grinned. "He would instantly recognize the four of you, should you be seen."
"Our son?" Hinata gasped out.
"Boruto Uzumaki, though he's very old and wouldn't be able to take either of you on, has lived a long life. Your grandkids no doubt would notice you as well. Though, we believe that several of them died." Masaru shrugged. "He was married to Sarada Uchiha."
"Our daughter." Sakura said, voice light as she glanced over at Sasuke.
"Correct. However, she passed away about a decade ago. The same could be said for Boruto's sister, Himawari, who also passed away from the parasites."
Sakura felt her heart clench for the daughter the Sakura in this world had the grandchildren she would never meet. Only moments like these did she second guess the outcome of the life she currently had. Sarada was the daughter she would have had had Masaru not interfered, but could she blame someone wanting to save people, especially those they love? Yet, that desperation and love took away her future. Glancing over at Naruto who looked just as pained, she knew that the Sakura who lived in this world was as happy as she would be. Just a different spouse and a different future but filled with the same hope and love.
"Then let's get ready." Sakura grinned.
There was a much stronger barrier than anything they had come across, but the device that Orochimaru gave them was enough to create a hole for them to get through. The town looked deserted, but as it was the middle of the night, it made sense. There were a few shinobi who were walking around but had yet to catch the four who managed to mask their chakra from being visible. On a roof, the four of them were crouched down, the rough tiles digging into Sasuke's knees as they looked around. His Sharingan and Rinnegan activated to get a good idea of who they could see and with Hinata's Byakugan, they were able to see someone that felt safe enough to kidnap. They made a plan and Sasuke bound to the right, running across various rooftops making his way to a building on the opposite side of the small village.
On the way here, things had been eerily quiet and each of them had noted that when they made it here. Given the patrol in the area, there was no doubt that they were expecting something to happen. Looking around, he took note of the chimney to his left and several trees to his right that seemed to be leading into a small, wooded area. Gazing over to another rooftop that was across the path, he saw Naruto also looking around, both of their eyes meeting before they each nodded and leapt up onto the rooftop of the person they had deemed to kidnap. An adult male that didn't seem to have significant power but held enough chakra that siphoning anything from him wouldn't be an issue. They were not really for this mission, but it was also the mission they signed up for with their Hokage.
Leaping down onto a balcony, minding the sliding glass door that led out onto the small area, Sasuke kept himself against the wall, gazing into the home. The man seemed to be alone, nothing amiss as Sasuke found a window near the balcony and slowly opened it to enter the room. Closing it behind him, he gazed around the room and saw the man sound asleep in his bed. Making his way over to the man, Sasuke pulled out the serum he was to inject the man with. The other three were on the lookout, each of them connected by a headset, but choosing to remain quiet unless something were to happen. Sasuke nearly made it to the man before he felt cold steel pressing up against his neck. Eyes widening, he noted that he sensed absolutely no chakra from the person behind him. Given how quiet the person in question was, they were no doubt a shinobi, but no one should have been capable of hiding their chakra to the point of it being nonexistent.
"We are going to back up slowly and you will follow me back to my room. Do I make myself clear?" The voice belonged to an older man, but that was all Sasuke could figure out.
"Hn."
The man began to walk them backwards, Sasuke choosing to allow them to get into the hallway before making his move. If the older man thought he would cooperate, it would be easy to take him by surprise. Once he felt the cooler air from the hallway hit the exposed skin on his face, he watched a rather wrinkled hand reach over to close the door. The moment they were a few steps back, Sasuke reached around in order to grip the sword, but the older man was faster. He could instantly feel the immense chakra that radiated from his opponent as Sasuke managed to dodge, turning around and pulling out his own sword. Yet, when their eyes met, both of them paused, each of them taking in who they were about to face off with. Even with a rather wrinkled face, Sasuke made out two whiskers on each cheek that mimicked the ones Naruto had. Bright blue eyes that looked exactly like that of his best friend stared into his own. This had to be Boruto Uzumaki, the son of Naruto and Hinata.
