Rey can't contain her excitement. This is her first date with her boyfriend Beaumont since he came back home from college. He planned a simple night where he would be cooking dinner for her and watching a movie of her choice. Just the two of them. Cooking dinner for her? No one has ever cooked dinner for her. And she was thrilled by choosing a few of her favorite movies to bring over to choose with him.

She pulls up to his family's house where he's staying while here for the holidays. After putting her car in park and turning the car off, Rey skips up to the front door with a song in her heart. Her hand knocks on the door and she waits for Beaumont to answer. The door opens and Beaumont stands before her in a nice button up shirt and slacks. Rey immediately blushes in seeing she's completely underdressed, only wearing jeans and a long sleeve cotton shirt.

"Rey, it's great to see you," Beaumont says with a smile, pulling her into a hug.

She returns the hug and sighs into his embrace. His words bounce around in her head and she can't help her heart drop a bit. Great to see her? Had he not missed her as much as she missed him? He steps back and Rey decides to shake off her anxious thoughts as she follows Beaumont inside. She follows him into the kitchen and sees some pots and pans at the ready. Her left eyebrow scrunches up in confusion as she takes in the scene. Dinner hasn't been made yet when Beaumont said he was going to cook for them. Maybe he was waiting until she was here so she could watch him? Why was this feeling so weird?

"I'm excited to cook for you, Rey. My family just bought a few lobsters. Have you ever had lobster before?" Beaumont asks excitedly.

"No," she replies softly.

"You'll love it, I know you will," he says with a grin.

Beaumont turns to the pots and pans when Rey hears voices outside the kitchen. Seeing her concerned face, Beaumont pauses his kitchen prep and turns towards her. He places his hands on her arms and looks at her.

"It's just my family. They're heading out for a night out together. It'll just be you and I, like I promised. I'll go see them out," Beaumont says with confidence.

His hands squeeze her shoulders and he walks out to see his family. Rey offers him a kind smile then wraps her arms around herself as she watches him walk off. She doesn't mind his family but has never felt herself around them. It'll be nice when it's just her and Beaumont together. But for some reason, Rey still can't shake the feeling of weirdness. Something's off and she can't quite put her finger on it. Before she gets too lost in her thoughts, she hears him walking back towards the kitchen. Her smile drops when she sees his face. His eyes are wide and his smile seems forced.

"Hey Rey, so, about tonight…well…turns out my family is having their, uh, their holiday party…tonight," Beaumont stammers, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

"…what?" Rey asks, shock filling her whole body.

"Yeah, it's, it's no big deal. I thought it was tomorrow night but this actually works out better since you're here too. Now it'll be perfect!" he says happily.

"What?" she repeats again.

But before Beaumont can respond, the doorbell begins ringing like crazy. He raises his eyebrows up with a strange smile on his face as he rushes to open the door with the rest of his family. Rey is left in the kitchen alone.

"What?" her voice says once again.
