Hello everyone! I'm MiniTennyson and welcome to the first official chapter of Inverted Destinies.
This is the first chapter for a Fairy Tail AU idea I had some time ago where Natsu and Gajeel swapped lives, Natsu ending up as part of Phantom Lord while Gajeel became a member of Fairy Tail.

This fic is Rated T for depictions of blood, violence and some rather dark moments. The fic will become Rated M following the first Arc's end.
Warning: Natsu may be OOC in this AU considering the fact that him being in Phantom Lord instead of Fairy Tail would logically change him in some ways, through he will mosty be our Natsu but sadistic and colder than the original is. This fic will feature NaLe(Natsu X Levy) as the main ship, if you don't like that and are a strong NaLu or GaLe fan, then this fic probably won't be for you.
Before we get this started, as per usual: I do not own or claim ownership of any kind over Fairy Tail or its characters, the series belongs and is owned by Hiro Mashima, Weekly Shonen Magazine and A-1 Pictures. This is a fanfiction that is not official nor it is affiliated with the creators. This is fanfiction after all.

INVERTED DESTINIES
A FAIRY TAIL AU FANFICTION
CHAPTER ONE:
SALAMANDER
From the shadows of an alleyway in the city known as Magnolia of the Fiore kingdom, three dark figures were watching the streets from afar, hoping that any one of Fairy Tail's members would pass by so the trio could exact a warning on them, exactly how Master Jose planned.
"Salamander, where are those fairies? Didn't you say this is one of the most populated streets? Then where are they?" One of the figures, a dark-skinned bald man with black eyes covered by purple sunglasses, said towards the leading figure in slight annoyment and boredom. This was Boze.
"Have some fucking patience, baldy!" the leading figure, a young man with spiky pink hair and black eyes wearing a dark red hoodie, said in anger, not really liking his partner's tone. This was Natsu Dragneel a.k.a. The Salamander of Phantom Lord.
"Don't talk to Boze like that!"the other figure, a dark-skinned girl with shoulder-length brown hair and black eyes wearing a jester hat, said in shock as to how Natsu could be so rue towards her and her companion. This was Sue.
"Shut up already would ya?! I will talk to you two idiots however I want!" the pink-haired mage roared in rage as he was ready to kill Suze before looking up and getting a smirk of satisfaction on his face.
"And…see? I told you the fairies will show up eventually, didn't I?" Natsu said in satisfaction as he saw a trio of Fairy Tail mages walking on the street right by the alleyway he and his partners were in.
The trio of Fairy Tail mages were made out of a lean guy with orange hair covered by a very long tophat named Jet, a similarly lean guy with teardrop-shaped black hair named Droy and lastly, there was a teenage girl with shoulder-length blue hair and big brown eyes named Levy McGarden. Levy was the one that interested him the most out of the trio, probably thinking of her as his main target of attack.
"So what's the attack plan, Salamander?" Boze and Sue both asked their leader in unison.
"We beat these darn fairies to the ground then hang them up somewhere for all other fairies to see that this is a war declaration. You two take the two guys but the girl is mine. Oh yeah!! I'M FIRED UP!!" the Salamander said with murderous glee in his tone as he, Sue and Boze jumped out of the shadow and tried to attack the trio but Jet and Droy noticed in the last moment
"Phantom Lord?!" Levy shrieked in shock upon seeing the symbols Natsu, Sue and Boze had on their bodies.
Jet and Droy jumped in front of their female friend and glared daggers at the fire dragon slayer. "Levy! Stay behind us!" the two exclaimed to their friend as Natsu started fastly approaching them.
"Get the hell out of my way, weaklings! Fire Dragon's Roar!!!" the Salamander roared as a wave of flames shot out of his mouth and launched towards the two Fairy Tail mages. Before
the two could even react to what happened, they were on the ground, beaten and battered while flames were dancing over their bodies. This shook Levy to the core as she looked in horror at her two fallen friends just when Natsu loomed over her.
"W…w…why did you do this…w…what did we ever do to you…?" the bluette said in a shaky voice as tears started to well in her eyes. The fear and tears in her eyes made Natsu smirk even more than before. He will have fun ruining this girl.
"Why do you ask…? Well…hehehe…because it's fun beating fairies like you up! Now…prepare shrimp…here I come!!" the Salamander said with murderous glee as he ignited his fists and jumped towards the fear-ridden Levy.
A close up to the solid script mage's widened eyes is shown as Natsu quickly made his way towards the poor girl…
The scene showed the city of Magnolia from far away in the skies as ignition sounds were heard from the alleyways, implying the fact that Natsu started his attack on the girl.
Eventually, Levy's pained screams echoed through the air for quite some time before after a while…her screams died down slowly as Salamander continued his assaultss.
For what felt an eternity, the only sound that echoed across the streets of Magnolia was the continuous impact that came as a result of Natsu's ruthless blows on her body.
The sickening cracking of bones, along with his sinister grin made the sight even more unsettling.
Sue and Boze looked shocked at the unconscious body of Levy before looking at Natsu who smirked as he hit her unconscious body once
"Salamander…you're one messed up son of a bitch…you know that right?!" Boze exclaimed to his comrade, causing Natsu to stop laughing and glared daggers towards the bald man.
"And…?! Do you have any issues with that? Master Jose put me to exterminate some fairies…and that's what I did. So…shut up if you don't wanna be my next target?"the fire dragon slayer said in a threatening annoyance.
"N-no…of…of course not Salamander. I'm sure Mater Jose will be more than pleased with what you did." Sue said with a nervous smile on her face, probably thinking something like "Please don't kill me Salamander…"
"Good…it'll better be that way Now…what should we do so the other fairies can see my work?" Natsu asked his two comrades, seemingly having got bored by all the fun he's been having with beating down those Fairy Tail weaklings.
"Well…there is a park with a singular oak tree nearby this street. If it's as populated as you claim, then there's no doubt one of the fairies will see that." Boze said to the dragon slayer.
"A singular oak tree you say, huh…? Heh, that will do." Natsu said as his annoyance turned into glee as he got up from where he was standing, grabbed the unconscious bodies of Team Shadow Gear and started rushing towards the nearby park.
The following day, a blonde girl with brown eyes belonging to the Fairy Tail guild accompanied by a flying anthropomorphic black cat was walking through the park following hearing that Team Shadow Gear went missing yesterday.
The blonde was Lucy Heartfillia and the anthropomorphic cat was the partner of a certain rude dragon slayer, Phanterlily, and the two looked all over Fiore for any sign of the missing team but to no result.
Eventually the two came by to the park when they noticed a crowd gathered around the oak tree located in the center of the park.
"Hmm…I wonder what happened…?" Lucy muttered under her breath as he pushed some of the people away, allowing her and Pantherlily to get through to see what all the commotion was about when…
They saw the gruesome sight in front of them. The results of Natsu's "work" from the other day.
Lucy's eyes widened in shock upon seeing Team Shadow Gear's limp and burned bodies crucified with wooden stakes onto the tree.
"L...levy…Jet…Droy…" Lucy said shakily as her legs gave in, causing her to fall to her knees as tears welled up in her eyes.
"Who could do such a thing….?" the blonde girl muttered in a horrified tone as she couldn't hold the tears in and they fell down to her cheeks.
"...Phantom Lord." Phanterlily muttered upon seeing the fact that the crucified Team had the symbol of Phantom Lord burned into their skins.
There was no doubt about it…this was the hand of Phantom Lord and clearly a declaration of war to Fairy Tail.
As this was happening, Natsu watched from the back of the crowd with a satisfied smirk as he turned away from the crowd and started walking back towards Oak Town, feeling satisfied with himself.
After Lucy told the rest of Fairy Tail about what happened to Team Shadow Gear and suffice to say…they weren't happy at all with the situation.
Master Makarov, a tiny old man and the leader of Fairy Tail, walked to the podium of the main hall with an enraged look on his face as he faced the guild.
"My children! I know what I said about ignoring the attacks from Phantom Lord…but they made the mistake TO HURT ONES OF OUR OWN!!"
"IF IT'S WAR THEY WANT…THEN WE FAIRY TAIL WE'LL GIVE THEM WAR!! I DIDN'T CARE WHEN THEY ATTACKED THE GUILD BUT NOW WHEN THEY HURT MY CHILDREN…THEY MADE THE MISTAKE TO PUT WITH FAIRY TAIL!!"
"THE FIRST THING WE'LL DO STARTING TOMORROW…WE'LL STORM THE PHANTOM LORD GUILD AND…SHOW THEM WHAT IT MEANS TO ATTACK FAIRY TAIL!!!"
Upon Master Makarov's speech was heard, the entire guild exploded into roars and cheers, everyone in the guild was ready to attack Phantom Lord.
Meanwhile, Lucy was holding Phanterlily close to her chest as she showed a worried expression to the reaction of her guild.
Soon enough, a young man with a long black tuff of hair and red eyes walked to Lucy, putting his hand around her shoulders, causing the celestial mage to look over at him. This was Gajeel Redfox, Black Steel of Fairy Tail.
"Don't worry babe…we'll avenge Levy. And…I'll be sure that will happen one way or another." Gajeel said with a sneer as his scarlet eyes narrowed as he himself lifted a hand in the air and roar alongside the rest of the guild.

Dear Mother…
It's me, your daughter, Lucy Heartfilllia.
I'm writing you because something horrible happened and my newfound best friend Levy and her team were badly wounded by Fairy Tail's rival guild…
Phantom Lord.
And did this only to challenge the guild to a war. A battle.
And I'm afraid…
I'm afraid that when they made Fairy Tail mad and started a full-blown war…
Things will only go downhill from here for me and my friends.
How could Phantom Lord be so cruel…?

Not much to say besides that I was MiniTennyson and this was the first and relatively short first chapter of Inverted Destinies, a Fairy Tail AU.
Before I leave through I have some things to say...
The fic's main idea is mainly inspired by Her Phantom by Gemika and Alternate Tail by DigiXBot. The things I was inspired to do from Alternate Tail are having Natsu be part of Phantom Lord and Happy being in Edolas instead of Gajeel and Phanterlilly respectively, while the tone and main idea of having a Fairy Tail member be in Phantom Lord are heavily inspired by Gemika's Her Phantom.
The canon will be altered and a bit different from normal Fairy Tail, from small things to big things being different. But that's to be expected.
Please follow, favorite or reviews if you enjoyed the fic. Or don't, I'm not forcing you to do so. But that would really make me happy, as while I do fanfic for myself...I wish to see what people think of this idea.
Regardless of whether this fic gets traction or not, I do plan on having the Phantom Lord arc be adapted. Then I can see whether I want to continue beyond that point or not.
As for my other readers, don't worry. I have not given up on either of my Omnitrix of The Rebellion nor Lost Souls fics, but unfortunatey I have a bad case of writer's block on them. Trust me, I tried writing Ch. 2 of Omnitrix of The Rebellion for like a month and yet I'm still not any farther than just 'Ben groaned in light pain as he got up from a standing position and held his head in his arms, trying to remember what happen'.
So...yeah. Please be patient with that.
