As the week progressed, Control Central remained mostly silent, leaving the team in the dark. However, occasional updates revealed that Hacker's henchmen had been making significant progress
in their activities. Their latest developments hinted at the construction of a peculiar circular structure, leading the team to believe that Hacker might indeed be building a portal. The purpose behind this enigmatic project remained unclear, but one thing they knew was that it wasn't going to be good.
As for WordGirl, she had gone the entire week without hearing a peep from any of the villains, which struck her as highly unusual. Normally, they would interrupt her daily activities with their mischief numerous times a day. Growing curious, she decided to pay a visit to the city jail, hoping to find some answers.
To her astonishment, the city jail appeared unusually deserted. Save for the predictable presence of the perpetually apprehended Amazing Rope Guy, there were no other villains to be found. Baffled by the eerie silence, WordGirl approached the warden, hoping to shed light on the situation. The warden, sharing her perplexity, expressed his deep concern over the uncharacteristic and puzzling inactivity of the villains.
"I swear, If this continues, I'm going to eat my hat!" He declared frustratedly, With a dramatic flair, he removed his oversized hat and took a large bite out of it.
Emerging from the jail, WordGirl couldn't shake the growing suspicion that the villains were concocting a grand scheme. Initially, a sense of unease washed over her, but she swiftly regained composure, reminding herself of her consistent triumphs over their evil plots. Nevertheless, she remained cautious, wary of becoming overly confident in the face of an unknown and potentially formidable challenge.

Dr. Marbles diligently carried on with their cleaning duties, meticulously attending to each row of shelves that stretched as far as the eye could see. The shelves seemed to extend endlessly, creating a vast expanse of storage space that demanded thorough attention. Digit, meanwhile, went upstairs to prepare a snack for them that could help keep them focused.
Dr. Marbles found himself constantly battling distractions, struggling to maintain focus on his cleaning tasks. It bothered him deeply, consuming his thoughts even during his breaks from the monotonous chore. The insatiable urge to complete the tidying weighed on him, often keeping him awake well into the night.
Curiously, a strange sensation pulled at Dr. Marbles, as if something on the shelves called out to him. He couldn't quite grasp what or why, but the sensation persisted. Lost in contemplation, he accidentally bumped into a nearby shelf, triggering a cascade of objects that tumbled to the floor, creating a messy aftermath.
"Whoops! Oh, dear me, what a clumsy fellow I am!" Dr. Marbles gasped, his spectacles nearly slipping off his nose in the process. Hastily bending down to retrieve the fallen items, he muttered to himself, "Now, now, no time for accidents. Let's tidy up this mess and restore order to these wayward belongings."
Amidst the fallen items, one object captured Dr. Marbles' attention—a weathered book adorned with a tattered leather cover. Curiosity piqued, he couldn't help but notice a peculiarly small gap in the middle of the cover. It formed an unusual shape with four distinct points at the ends. Intrigued, Dr. Marbles promptly knelt down again, carefully sifting through the scattered pile in search of the missing piece that should seamlessly fit into the enigmatic gap on the book cover.
After a diligent search, he eventually spotted it resting on the floor near his feet. As he picked up the peculiar object, his eyes widened with astonishment. It was an ancient, golden amulet adorned with intricate patterns of circles and stars, each terminating in diamond-like points that mirrored the shape of the gap on the book cover. Notably, a prominent eye gazed out from the center of the star-shaped design. Positioned beside the star were four empty diamond shapes, clearly awaiting their missing counterparts.
Driven by curiosity, Dr. Marbles carefully grasped the amulet and gingerly attempted to insert it into the small gap on the book cover. As anticipated, a sense of wonder washed over him as the amulet effortlessly slotted into place, completing the puzzle with a perfect fit.
A sense of disbelief washed over Dr. Marbles as he cautiously opened the book, his trembling hands turning the aged pages. As he skimmed through the mysterious contents, his eyes widened in astonishment. "Oh, my goodness! This can't be! It's...It's impossible! And yet... here it is!" he gasped, his voice filled with a mix of awe and concern.
At that moment, Digit returned, bearing a tray laden with delectable sandwiches and tempting snacks. Noticing the book and amulet in Dr. Marbles' hands, Digit couldn't contain his curiosity. "Hey Doc, I'm back! What have you got there?" He inquired, drawing closer.
Dr. Marbles raised a finger to hush Digit, urgently covering his beak. "Digit... It's..." he began, his voice filled with a blend of urgency and caution.
The gravity of the situation hit Digit like a bolt of lightning, rendering him momentarily speechless. "No way! Is that..." He started to say, only to be interrupted by Dr. Marbles' swift action to prevent any accidental disclosure.
"We need to inform Motherboard and the Cybersquad immediately! We mustn't let Hacker or anyone else learn of this book's existence! The fate of not just Cyberspace, but the entire universe hangs in the balance!" Dr. Marbles conveyed in a hurried whisper, emphasizing the urgency.
"What do you mean by that?" Digit asked nervously.
"Come on, we have no time to waste! I'll explain everything once they arrive!" Dr. Marbles declared, a sense of urgency propelling him to hasten upstairs and urging Digit to follow closely behind.

The city park buzzed with excitement as people from all corners of the city flocked to the Kratt Brothers' Nature Awareness Carnival. The lively event, organized to raise funds for the protection and preservation of animal habitats worldwide, served as a joyous celebration of nature. Among the enthusiastic attendees were Becky Botsford and her family and friends, with her younger brother TJ brimming with anticipation. Word had spread that WordGirl herself would grace the occasion and introduce the Kratt brothers during their speech.
"Now, TJ, remember, it's not just about meeting WordGirl; it's about raising awareness for the environment and its crucial preservation," TJ's father, Tim Botsford, explained, emphasizing the deeper purpose of the event.
TJ, however, seemed less enthralled by the importance of environmental conservation. Nonchalantly taking a bite of his cotton candy, he questioned, "So what's the big deal about the environment? It's mostly just trees and rocks."
Violet, chiming in, began to enlighten TJ about the significance of the environment. "Well, trees play a crucial role in producing clean air for us to breathe. They also provide shade and bear fruit that we enjoy. As for rocks, they provide a habitat for insects that contribute to the health of the soil," She explained patiently.
Scoops, ever eager to share knowledge, added, "You know, TJ, the environment does so much for us. We should do our part in protecting it!"
Unimpressed, Tj responded with an eye roll, remaining unconvinced by their arguments. "You sound just like them, you know," TJ muttered, referring to the Kratt brothers. "I'm going to go explore." He declared, finishing off his cotton candy and discarding the cone before wandering away, seeking his own adventure amidst the bustling carnival.
"Are you sure, TJ? Just make sure you're back here before the Kratt brothers start their speech in thirty minutes!" TJ's mother, Sally Botsford, called out, concern lacing her voice.
"Violet and I were also planning to explore the booths as well. We'll be back soon," Scoops added, sharing their plans. "You want to join us, Becky?"
Turning down the invitation, Becky responded, "Nah, I think I'll head over to the booths on the opposite side of the park. I'll catch up with you guys later!" With her loyal companion, Bob the monkey, clutching a handful of treats, Becky embarked on her own adventure.
"Alright then, see you later," Scoops replied with a hint of disappointment, hoping for a chance to hang out together.
Taking cover behind one of the bustling booths, Becky swiftly transformed into her superhero alter, along with her trusty sidekick, Bob. With a triumphant cry of "Word Up!", she propelled herself into the air, soaring toward the stage where Aviva and the crew awaited her arrival.
"WordGirl, there you are! Just in time!" Koki exclaimed, a bright smile adorning her face as she glanced at her wristwatch.
"I thought the Kratt bro's weren't scheduled for another twenty minutes?" Jimmy inquired, his curiosity evident.
"Well, regardless, we're thrilled you could join us!" Chris Kratt chimed in, expressing his gratitude.
"I'm equally thrilled to be here with all of you!" WordGirl replied, her joy radiating from her.
"Woah! Just look at the massive crowd that turned up to support us!" Martin Kratt remarked, peeking out from behind the stage curtains. "I've got a good feeling about tonight!"
A hint of apprehension crossed Jimmy Z's face as he voiced his concerns. "Really? Because I can't shake this nagging feeling that something bad is about to happen."
"Why is that, Jimmy?" Aviva inquired.
"I don't know, it's just... with the villains staying unusually quiet lately, it's making me uneasy," Jimmy expressed his worry.
WordGirl, ever the reassuring presence, chimed in, "Don't worry, Jimmy. If they dare to stir up trouble, I'll be here to put a stop to their plans."
"I hope you're right," Jimmy muttered softly, his concerns lingering.
"Now that you mention it, I haven't heard a peep from villains like Dr. Two-Brains or Mr. Big, and even Zach and the others have been oddly silent."
Chris noted, adding to the sense of unease.
"Yeah, it's definitely strange," Martin agreed, a tinge of curiosity coloring his words.
….
"Alright, does everyone have the plan crystal clear in their minds?" Dr. Two-Brains inquired, addressing the assembled team.
Chuck, peering down from the airplane's windows at the park below, suddenly realized he had forgotten the details. "Wait! What was the plan again? I completely forgot!" He admitted sheepishly.
Zach let out an exasperated sigh. "Didn't you pay attention? Mr. Big will manipulate the nearby cell phone tower, causing it to emit a magnetic wave infused with Lexonite. When WordGirl comes into contact with it, she'll be weakened. In the meantime, the rest of us will launch a coordinated attack to keep her occupied," He reiterated, frustration evident in his voice.
"Oh, right! I remember now," Chuck exclaimed, recalling the plan.
"Are we certain this plan will actually work?" Seymour Smooth interjected.
"We're about to find out soon enough. Time is of the essence!" Gourmand declared, focusing on the two below.
"Alright, everyone, let's assume our positions," Dr. Two-Brains urged, his voice tinged with determination. "And remember, we've only got one shot at this, so don't mess this up!"
….
"Wow, this place is absolutely amazing!" Matt exclaimed in awe.
"I agree! They've really gone above and beyond," Jackie replied, sharing his enthusiasm.
"I'm just so glad that all of this is going to make a difference for animals and their habitats. Those poor creatures deserve our support," Inez expressed, her compassion evident.
As they marveled at the surroundings, Matt suddenly found his backpack ringing. Hastily retrieving his Squawk Pad, he answered the call. "Digit? What's up? Have you finally discovered what Hacker is plotting?" Matt inquired, hoping for some vital information.
"No, not yet, but Dr. Marbles urgently wants you to return to Cyberspace. It's an emergency!" Digit urgently exclaimed.
"What's the matter? What's so important?" Inez curiously inquired.
However, before Digit could explain further, an announcement blared from the numerous speaker boxes strategically placed throughout the park. Koki's voice echoed, informing everyone to gather at the stage for the Kratt brothers' speech.
"Oops, sorry, Digit, we have to go. We'll catch up with you later, okay?" Matt hurriedly relayed before abruptly ending the call and stowing the Squawk Pad in his backpack. "Come on, let's make our way to the stage, guys!" He declared, urging them forward.
"But what did Digit want to show us in Cyberspace?" Inez asked.
"He mentioned that Dr. Marbles had something to share with us. But for now, after the Kratt brothers' speech, we'll head straight to Cyberspace to find out!" Jackie reassured them.
"Agreed. We better get moving, before all the good spots are taken!" Matt declared.
….
"Hurry, sir, the Kratt brothers are about to give their speech," Leslie urged blandly.
"Patience, Leslie. I have already orchestrated everything meticulously. I am merely waiting for the signal," Mr. Big responded, his voice dripping with sinister amusement. "Soon, victory will be within our grasp!"
"By 'victory,' I assume you mean that for everyone else as well." Leslie asked, seeking clarification.
….
With the audience gathered around the main stage, WordGirl emerged from behind the curtains, clutching a microphone. "Hello, everyone! A warm welcome to all who have joined us tonight. Let's give a big round of applause for Martin and Chris Kratt!" she announced, prompting the crowd to erupt in cheers and applause.
"Wooo! Go WordGirl! And, uh, Martin and Chris too, I guess," TJ chimed in with youthful exuberance.
"Where's Becky? She wouldn't want to miss this." Violet worriedly replied.
Once the crowd settled, the Kratt brothers took the stage, ready to address the audience. "Thank you, thank you all for being here and showing your support. It truly means the world to us," Martin expressed, his happiness evident in his voice.
In an abrupt and shocking turn of events, a piercing scream pierced the air as the curtains dramatically fell behind the Kratt brothers. Revealed in the chilling backdrop were the imposing figures of several villains, accompanied by Tobey's formidable robots that descended upon the stage. Panic gripped the crowd, prompting many to flee in fear, while a brave few, including Becky's family, friends, and the Cybersquad, stood their ground.
"Surprise! Sorry for the delay; traffic was a hassle!" Zach quipped, his laughter carrying a sinister edge.
"What on earth are all of you doing here?" Chris angrily demanded.
Isn't it obvious? We're here to put an end to all of you once and for all!" Dr. Two-Brains retorted.
Defiantly, WordGirl materialized behind them, her presence unwavering. "Sorry to burst your bubble, but I've faced each of you individually countless times. Taking you all on at once won't be a challenge."
"Oh, really? If you think you stand a chance against all of us, you're sorely mistaken!" Seymour Smooth, brimming with confidence, responded in a boastful tone.
WordGirl scoffed, undeterred. "I've overcome greater odds before. Your combined forces won't stop me."
"We'll see about that, ZING!" Seymour Smooth exclaimed, a malevolent grin spreading across his face. As he spoke, his teeth glimmered with an otherworldly radiance, their pristine perfection capable of blinding anyone who dared to gaze upon them. WordGirl swiftly evaded the incoming blast, soaring through the air and putting a considerable distance between herself and the villains.
Infuriated, one of the villains pointed at WordGirl and bellowed, "GET HER!"
"SAUSAGE CYCLONE!!!!" The Butcher exclaimed With malicious intent as he unleashed a barrage of sausages, aiming to ensnare WordGirl. However, Captain Huggy-Face heroically leaped into action, intercepting the onslaught and devouring the sausages in a single gulp.
"I bet those sausages would taste better with some mustard!" Chuck quipped cleverly as he swiftly whipped out his condiment ray, enveloping the poor monkey in a cocoon of mustard.
Meanwhile, chaos unfolded as the other villains joined the pursuit, wreaking havoc and demolishing the park. Martin and Chris, overwhelmed and uncertain, found themselves ensnared by Donita's pose-beaming mannequins.
"Don't even think about escaping, darlings!" Donita jeered with wicked satisfaction.
"HELP!!!! THE VILLAINS ARE ATTACKING THE PARK AND HAVE CAPTURED THE KRATT BROTHERS!!!!" A terrified bystander desperately cried out before pausing, his fear momentarily forgotten. "Wait, is this the police station?" He blurted out in confusion.
Inez's voice trembled with concern. "I really hope WordGirl can stop them," she expressed anxiously.
Matt, filled with unwavering faith, reassured her. "Don't worry, Inez. WordGirl is capable of handling anything that comes her way. Now, let's go. I think I have an idea to free the Kratt brothers!" He declared, leading the way as he swiftly moved from their hiding spot behind an empty booth.
"Matt, wait up! Where are you going?" Jackie called out, hastening her steps alongside Inez.
Meanwhile, WordGirl exhibited her formidable prowess, systematically dismantling Tobey's robots and apprehending the remaining villains. On the stage, Matt managed to stealthily approach Donita from behind and snatch her remote control for the mannequins. With a swift press of a button, he released the captured Kratt brothers.
"Hey! Give that back, kid!" Donita demanded, reaching out to reclaim her remote. Fortunately, Jackie and Inez arrived just in time, stepping in to help defuse the situation.
"What do you think you're doing, young ones?" Gourmand growled, brandishing his dough gun.
"Don't even think about it, Gourmand!" Chris exclaimed, rushing forward in an attempt to disarm him.
"Let go, Green Grape!" Gourmand countered, struggling to maintain control of his weapon.
Confusion and chaos filled the air, prompting Zach to shout, "Stop those kids and don't let the Wild Rats escape!" However, in the midst of the struggle, Gourmand inadvertently pressed a button on his dough gun, resulting in him, Donita, and Zach becoming trapped within a colossal dough ball. The Cybersquad and Matt narrowly evaded the sticky situation.
"Phew, that was a close one!" Inez exclaimed, her relief palpable.
"Ew, ew, double ew! What is that stuff?" Jackie reacted, her face contorting in disgust.
Amidst the commotion, Martin's voice filled with a mix of anger, worry, and relief as he addressed the courageous young rescuers. "That was quite a daring move you pulled off, kids. Are you all alright?"
"Yeah, we're fine," Matt replied, a sense of satisfaction evident in his voice.
Chris expressed his gratitude. "Thank you for freeing us. We really appreciate it."
"No problem at all. We're always here to lend a hand!" Jackie replied with a joyful tone.
Their attention was abruptly diverted as they noticed Zach's Zachbots capturing Koki, Jimmy, and Aviva and escorting them toward an unknown destination. Martin proclaimed, "We need to stop them!"
"Save your breath, Wild Rats!" Zach replied. However, as the group prepared to intervene, Inez's horrified gaze fixed on WordGirl, causing a wave of concern to wash over them all.
….
"We're being completely overwhelmed here! It's time to initiate the next phase of the plan; forget the signal!" Dr. Two-Brains urgently conveyed, while Mr. Big attentively listened through his walkie-talkie.
"Don't worry, I've got it under control!" Mr. Big declared, ending the call decisively. "Leslie, it's time!" He commanded.
"You got it!" Leslie acknowledged, swiftly making her way to the control panel and pulling the lever. The panel sprang to life, transmitting a potent magnetic wave infused with Lexonite that rapidly spread throughout the park.
WordGirl found herself in the midst of a fierce battle when she slowly began experiencing its effects. "What's happening? Why do I feel...dizzy?" She questioned herself, her senses wavering. Unbeknownst to her, The Whammer unleashed a mighty shockwave, violently knocking her to the ground.
"WordGirl!" Matt called out, filled with worry. He swiftly dashed off the stage, accompanied by his friends, the Kratt brothers, and TJ, who emerged from behind the recycle bins.
"Are you alright, WordGirl?" TJ asked, his concern evident.
Confused and weakened, WordGirl uttered in a feeble voice. "What's going on? Why do my legs feel so weak?"
Tobey exulted, "Oh my, we've done it! We've finally defeated WordGirl!" The other villains erupted in victorious cheers.
"Now, it's only you standing in our way," Mr. Big sinisterly stated, his tone dripping with malevolence. "I suggest you refrain from any foolish resistance and come with us."
Uncertain, and with the villains closing in, they cautiously retreated, unsure of their next move. However, it was TJ who suddenly sparked an idea. "RUNNNNN!" He urgently shouted.
In a state of alarm and driven by instinct, they seized WordGirl and raced into the dense forest, the villains giving relentless chase. Yet they soon realized they were not the only ones being pursued.
"HELP! I'M BEING CHASED BY THE VILLAINS INTO THE HEART OF THE FOREST!" A panicked man cried out, his voice filled with desperation. "Wait, is this the police station?" He bewilderedly questioned, even as he continued to flee. Before anyone could respond, the man was abruptly ensnared by a pose-beam, freezing him in place.
"W-where are we going?" WordGirl inquired, still feeling weakened.
"I don't know, just keep running!" TJ urged, his voice filled with urgency. However, before he could finish his sentence, Donita's mannequins struck him with their pose beam, freezing him in place.
As the villains closed in, Whammer prepared to unleash another powerful sonic shockwave. However, in his haste, he forgot the direction they were running and inadvertently propelled them deeper into the forest, disappearing from the villains' sight.
After a rather unimpressive tumble down a small hill, they cautiously rose to their feet. Martin checked on the group. "Is everyone okay?" He asked.
"I think so," Matt responded, trying to regain his composure.
"This is really bad! really, really bad!" Inez panicked.
"There's no need to panic, Inez! I actually have an idea of where we can hide," Matt reassured, retrieving his Squawk Pad from his backpack.
"Wow, what's that?" Martin asked, awestruck by the device.
"It's my Squawk Pad. It's how we stay connected and communicate with each other, and also with Cyberspace," Matt explained.
"C-cyberspace?" WordGirl inquired, clearly confused.
"Just hold on, WordGirl. You'll find out soon enough," Matt replied, offering a reassuring smile. He initiated contact with Motherboard, urgently pleading, "Motherboard, do you copy?"
"Matt, is everything alright?" Motherboard responded, her voice filled with concern.
"Motherboard, we need you to create a portal for us, and please, we're in a hurry!" Matt implored, his voice filled with urgency.
"What's the matter, Matt?" Motherboard worriedly replied.
An air of worry crept into Motherboard's voice as she inquired, "What's happening, Matt?"
"We'll explain later, Mother B. And we have some additional friends with us. Please, it's an emergency!" Inez added.
Without delay, a swirling vortex, tinged with shades of pink and purple, materialized before them. The Kratt brothers watched in astonishment as the Cybersquad leaped into the portal without hesitation.
"Woah! Come on, bro!" Chris called out, leaping into the portal while carrying WordGirl.
Though somewhat uncertain, Martin couldn't ignore the encroaching villains. Taking a deep breath, he steeled his resolve and followed suit. "Alright, here I come! For creatures everywhere!" He exclaimed, joining his allies in the portal. It closed just as the villains reached the top of the hill.
"They've got to Wham around here somewhere, but Wham?" Whammer asked as he forged through the surrounding bushes.
"I don't know, maybe if you hadn't whammed them deeper into the forest, we'd have caught them by now!" Chuck retorted bitterly. "Wham them in the direction they're trying to go. That's a smart move!" He said sarcastically.
"That's enough! They can't have gone far; they must be nearby," Dr. Two-Brains declared, activating his headlamp as darkness enveloped the surroundings. "Now, start searching!" He ordered.
